*Reader's Pov*
I awake the next morning and head to the game store. When I got there people were lined up outside. I spared a glance at them as they stared at me while I opened the door. Finally I get inside and let the customers in once I've turned on the lights. A little over an hour passes and Thalia comes in. She gets behind the counter and says, "you go I'll cover your shift today. Oh, and here," she hands me a box wrapped in gold paper and tied up with a white bow. I thank her, for both the gift and taking my shift since I was quite tired, and leave the store. I decide to head home and relax with my day off.
I get home and sit on the couch, my cat, Cocoa, hopping onto the couch beside me. I then remember the gift and set it on my lap looking down at it. I slowly take the ribbon off the box and unwrap the paper from it. My eyes widen at the sight before me. 'How did she get this?!' Thalia bought 'Euphoria' FoR mE! I immediately pull out my phone and text Thalia.
(Y/N): I can't believe you got it! It's amazing! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thalia: I'm glad you like it! You should spend your day off playing it (⌒▽⌒)
(Y/N): You're sure you're okay with me taking the day off? But this had to be expensive. Let me pay you back!
Thalia: No, Jack. It was my decision to buy it for you and to let you take the day off.
Thalia: I have to go now, it's getting busy.

          I say my goodbyes to her and set my phone down. Sighing in defeat I take out the game and fix it up. Taking out the headset I just stare at it. It's pretty much a virtual reality headset and looks really cool. I put on the headset, immediately being greeted by a brightly colored login screen. After creating an avatar I'm put into the game. My eyes widen at the beautiful quality of the game, it's absolutely amazing. A market scene is spread out in front of me with other players milling about. I look around still amazed by everything when I hear someone call," Hey Pink." I turn around towards the voice, realizing they must be talking to me, considering I'm the only pink haired person in the vicinity.
         A tall boy walks up to me and holds out his hand. His avatar has black hair, his left eye green and his right one blue. "Hi! I'm Alex," he happily states. I hesitantly take his hand and shake it. "(Y/N)," I say quietly. "You're a new player, aren't ya? I'll show ya 'round," he says speaking really quickly. He keeps a strong grip on my hand and drags me toward the market. Alex starts talking about different things and showing me around. 'He seems oblivious to almost everything, but it's good that someone is happy.' We stop at a stall with a white cloth over top of it.
         "Hello! Are you looking for something specific?" the woman at the stall asks. "Yeah! I'm looking for something for my friend here!" Alex says, putting an arm around my shoulder. I can feel a blush rising to my cheeks and the tips of my ears. She laughs and begins showing us the necklaces. I notice a bright blue one with a thin wire wrapped in intricate patterns and designs around the crystal. "What about that one?" Alex asks, noticing that I'm staring at it. "This one? I've been looking for someone to give it to for a while. You can take it. For your friend over there," she says, winking at him. "Knock him dead," she says. Handing him the necklace we say goodbye and walk a little ways away. He turns to look at me and says, "turn around." I do as he tells me and I suddenly feel him put the necklace around my neck. "There. It looks great," he says when I turn back around. "Do you need anymore help?" he asks. "I was actually going to offer you some help. I was a beta tester, and although I didn't make it past the third level, but I think I can help," I say. He looks shocked for a minute before smiling and replying, "That would be nice."
          We decide to head off to begin level 1 soon after. 'This is definitely going to be an adventure.' We make it to the large gate with a wooden sign above. There's a circle in the middle of the gate that's engraved with a number 1 and the sign reads level 1. "This would be quite hard to miss, don't you think?" Alex asks. I chuckle quietly as I push on the center of the gate. Immediately the world around us dissolved into a pitch black darkness. We hit the ground suddenly with a thud. I look around, realizing this looks slightly different than before when I played it. "Where the heck are we?!"
