{9} The Glowing Blue Eyes

"The Hollows. They're getting stronger," Hope said, looking out the window with her sister beside her. "A good deal stronger," Skye added, looking at her sister with worried eyes. Hope returned the look as their father stopped to stand, looking at them.

"You can sense them?" Klaus asked his daughters. It was an odd thing to hear. He loved his two little girls more than anyone he's ever loved, even more than Camille, but sometimes he finds himself struggling to keep up with them and struggling to understand what they're going through, seeing, feeling... They've been through more hell since their birth than Rebekah or Kol ever had in their lifetimes.

"When we first got here, there was always music outside, people dancing, laughing. But since they came back, it's so quiet." Hope explained. Hope and her twin could just see the scene in their mind. It's not here anymore now and it is only replaced by the quiet.

"It's like they are draining everything out of the city. They already took Uncle Elijah. And soon they will come for the rest of us then there is nothing we can do to stop them." Skye continued for her sister. Hope and Skye walked over to their father.

Klaus bent down and placed his hands on their shoulders, "Listen, Hope, Skye, I know you're both scared. But over the years, a lot of bad people have stood against out family, and all of them have fallen. The Hollows are no different."

"But they are. They are different." Skye said with a slightly scared look in here eyes. Hope had the same exact look as they just stared at their father.

Hope, Skye, and Hayley were all in one room together and what they were doing? You're going to find out. Hayley was lighting a candle that was on a desk and then turned back to the two girls. "We don't want to." Hope said to their mother. Hayley looked down at the two girls and then bent down in front of them.

"Are you both scared that it's gonna hurt?" Hayley asked.

"We're scared that if we do this, you're gonna pick a fight. And the Hollows, they can hurt you." Hope replied.

Skye added to the answer, "And we don't want you to get hurt."

"I know you're scared. I wish we didn't have to have this conversation. When I was your age, I had to deal with a lot of things that I didn't want to deal with either. I didn't want that for either of you, but here we are. The thing is, sometimes you have to do things that you don't want to do because you're the only one that can do them." Hayley said to the girls. What she said is what she really meant. Hayley didn't want her girls to be doing something that they don't want to do, but they have to.

"Like you." Hope suggested.

Hayley nodded in confirmation, "Like me."

The two girls nodded, "Okay." Hope held her finger out and Hayley poked it with the sharp needle. When she was done with Hope, Skye did the same thing that Hope did and she winced as she felt the sharp needle pierce her finger.

Hope was pacing around the room while Skye was sitting on the couch. They were both waiting for their parents to get back, but neither one of them were. What the two girls didn't see yet was that someone else was entering the room. "Hey, buddies." The girls heard a voice say. They both looked up the see their Uncle Kol or as they know him know: the Stranger.

"Are our mom and dad back yet?" Skye asked him.

"Not quite," Kol walked toward the girls with a knot in his hand. He bent down in front of the two girls as Hope sat down on the couch beside Skye. "Hey, you know what I used to do, when I was bored at your age? Magic."

"We're not supposed to do magic with strangers." Hope stated staring at the knot curiously.

Kol looked surprised at the girl's statement, "What? I-I'm family."

"So why did you go away?" Hope questioned him.

Kol hesitated before answering with, "I went away because I was sad. And I thought I'd never be back again. And I didn't want to make everybody that I loved around me sad, too." He smiled at the two girls sadly while they gave a small smile back. Hope placed her stuff bunny that she had been holding on the couch as the two girls stood. Skye took the knot from his hand and studied, Hope doing the same.

After a short while of studying the knoe, Skye spoke up, "So if we untie this knot... your girlfriend will be free from the Hollows?"

"I hope so." Kol replied walking toward the girls who were sitting on the floor.

Skye smiled and asked him, "And do you love her a lot?"

"Yes. Kind of like your Mom loves, uh-" Kol was cut off.

Hope and Skye started smirking, "Uncle Elijah."

Kol smiled at the twins, "You both are miraculously well-adjusted," Hope and Skye were focusing on untying when Kol heard a noise. He turned to the direction he heard the sound come from before turning back to the girls. "All right. Focus on the knot, loves. It's very important, and I'll be right back." The two girls nodded as a response and then Kol got up, going to check out the noise.

Awhile later, Skye and Hope were still trying to untie the knot. They had their eyes closed and were focusing on the knot in their hands. Suddenly, the girls felt the weight lift out of their hands. They smiled and opened their eyes seeing the knot floating in front of them. Then, the knot started to untie itself as the girls focused on it more. When the knot was completely untied, the girls' eyes started to close and they passed out.

Skye woke up a few minutes later and she pushed herself off of the floor. She turned to see Hope was just waking up too. All of a sudden, they heard a slamming sound and they turned to the source. The source was a door that had slammed shut, but that wasn't the only one. All of the exits around them were slamming shut. Then, a blue light came flooding into the room.

Hope was standing in front of the window and looked out while brushing out. Skye just stared blankly out of the window with no hint of emotion on her face. The girls heard their door open and turned to see Klaus. "I saw the light under your door. Your mother told me she tucked the both of you in."

"We don't like to sleep when things are happening." Hope said simply.

Skye walked closer to Klaus with Hope following behind her, "You woke Elijah up."

"Yes. And he's very excited to see you two. In the morning, hmm?" Klaus picked up Skye and sat her down on the bed, then he did the same with Hope. "There's nothing to worry about anymore, okay?"

Hope only stared at him, "You didn't punish Kol."

"Well... he's family." Klaus said with a slight smile.

Skye had a weird look on her face, "And we protect family. Like you and mom are our protectors, right?" Hope then got the same weird look on her face. It was the look someone would get when they knew they had the upper-hand, but why would they have that look.

Klaus smiled with replying, "Always and forever. And tomorrow, I'm going to show you everything I love about New Orleans. The music, the dancing, the art. After all, every princess ought to know their kingdom. Goodnight, sweethearts." He stroked their faces one last time and then got up, heading toward the door.

"Goodnight." Hope and Skye said to him. Klaus turned the lights off and walked out of the door, closing the door behind him. The two girls turned away from each other and then their eyes flashed a blue glow. They're here...
