{3} The Hollows Are Coming

They took the girls to a place they had never seen before, or at least remembered. Skye was being carried by her father, while Hope was being carried by her mother. Skye had been nervous, unaware of what was going on. She wasn't scared, because Hayley raised the girls differently, to not fear something until it must be feared. In the end, what was once scary, might just be a shadow of a bunny. Looks are deceiving, Hayley always said, and she wouldn't let her girls be fooled by appearances. Skye was wrapped in a blanket as she wore a blue nightgown and Hope was in a pink one. As they entered, Klaus looked around as he started to speak, some of the words neither of the girls could understand, "Our home. Once the pride of our family, now a flophouse." The house was a disheveled mess, and you could tell it hadn't been occupied in what would seem ages.

"Indeed, the mighty have fallen," Elijah agreed quickly, while Hayley- the worried hybrid mother she was -had started to rush inside with Hope. It was a scary turn of events, something the girls had never experienced. They were both bonding with their freshly resurrected family (nobody else can say that, can they?) and then BAM! Suddenly they see things, hear things. Things no normal child should hear or see. Something was tearing the family apart little by little.

"Where's Vincent?" Hayley asked quickly, sitting Hope down as she gently took Skye from Klaus' arms and laid her down beside her sister. A man suddenly started to speak, a man who was very skinny and very intimidating, a man the girls hadn't met. Hayley backed away from the girls as Skye turned her attention to the man. Who was this man? Was he there to help her and her sister? Was he one of the bad people her mother warned her about?

"Right here. Kept my word. Now the only question is whether or not you guys are gonna keep yours. As soon as I'm finished healing your kids, you got to leave the city," Vincent explained to the family, or the two hybrid parents more directly. He had pointed to the girls when he said "kids", making Skye look confused.

"Well, we're not gonna stay, are we? Your city has lost its charm," Klaus fired back, and Skye closed her eyes as she almost drifted to sleep, but she couldn't. Every time she closed her eyes it was like she was staring death in the face. Every time she closed her eyes a blue light shone. Every time she saw darkness, she saw the monsters inside. Elijah whispered softly to her to keep her eyes open for him, just a few moments longer. And she did.

"What he means to say is that we're very grateful, just help them and we'll leave," Hayley begged, holding her hands up in a peaceful gesture as she looked at Vincent. You could tell she adored her girls, and all that she wanted was for them to be okay. If something were to happen to them, Hayley knew she'd never forgive herself for not doing something.

"Just give us what we need, and we will do so, happily," Elijah said to Vincent, standing from his crouching position next to the girls. Vincent nodded at them in agreement and made his way over to the ill-looking girls. Hope reached over to hold Skye's hand, and Skye held it as she squeezed it. The girls were together in every sisterly sense of the word. They comforted each other, and made sure the other felt safe and secure. Skye shivered as the night air bit at her face like pins being pushed into it, the covers doing nothing to warm her.

"Okay," Vincent said softly, rubbing his hands together. "Nettoyer timoun sa a. Nettoyer timoun sa a. Nettoyer timoun sa a. Nettoyer timoun sa a. Nettoyer timoun sa a," Vincent chanted, clapping over both the girls as he closed his eyes. By then, Skye and Hope had their eyes closed, not wanting to watch as this happened. Seven year olds shouldn't have to go through what those two did, and in a way it was a curse. But in so many other ways, it was a blessing. Soon, Vincent touched their faces and they awoke.

"Mom?" Hope asked softly, while Sky asked, "Dad?" You could tell who was the mama's girl and who was the daddy's girl. Though they were both adored by their parents, and the two girls loved their parents equally as much. Hayley quickly walked over to the girls as Vincent stood, and she held Hope while Klaus made his way to Skye and held her. Niklaus was not one for hugs nor was he one for love, even, but those girls meant the world to him and he missed five precious years of their lives that he can never get back, and he wouldn't let that happen again. Klaus walked back to where he stood after he held her, because Hayley was impatiently waiting to hug both of her daughters.

"That's it. Your little girls are purified," Vincent explained, walking away from them as Klaus sent his thanks to the man. "Now look, the only gratitude I need from any of you is seeing you leave the city," Vincent said, holding his hands up to gesture before walking out.

"Go see your daddy," Hayley encouraged the girls, as she held Skye a moment longer. As Hope started Skye followed. That is, until a crow fell dead in front of her. It caused Hope to whirr around and Skye to look shocked and spooked. She walked to Hope and embraced her, as dead crows started to fall even more rapidly, and in larger amounts than before. They formed a perfectly circle around the girls, as Hayley rushed to them and the crows stopped. Klaus seemed to be rather bothered and enraged at the occurrence, rather than spooked or worried.

"I don't know," Vincent admitted honestly, seeing as he was still there. Probably heard the crows falling and decided to stay. The girls looked rather confused and alert, as if they were listening to something. They looked almost lost as they stood there. The girls seemed to be in a trance, but were really just listening.

"Mom? Can you hear that? It's whispers. Saying a name. Over and over," Hope said, as she looked around to try and pinpoint where the source of the whispers was, however she couldn't. It was in their minds, it couldn't be found.

"Yeah... It's soft. It's more than one person... It's like they're warning us," Skye said softly, looking around too. Hayley had her arms on both of them, rubbing their sides as she looked at them worryingly. Soon though, the two in unison started to chant what it was saying, "Kre Nah Hans, Kre Nah Hans."

"Vincent, wha- what is that?" Hayley questioned, looking up at him in worry. Her girls barely knew a fraction of the English language because they were but only seven. She knew that they definitely didn't know another language. And though silly sometimes, knew they wouldn't joke about anything such as that. They were good girls, and this worried her to no end.

"It's a nearly forgotten dialect. It's Creole. It means 'the Hollows'. The Hollows are coming," Vincent explained, looking quite nervous himself. Everyone looked a little confused, seeing as they had probably never heard of the Hallows. So this would be a scary and nerve-wracking ride for all of them. The girls would go through much with the Hallows involved, and it was a scary thought all in all.

"How are we feeling?" Klaus asked, sitting on the side of the bed where both his girls laid together. They were under a lot of blankets, looking at their father. It seemed like they were ill, but it was really because of two Native American ghosts who wanted revenge and wanted a bloodbath. What a great reason to anger the Mikaelsons. Nobody messes with them, especially their little girls.

"We're still so cold," Hope said, speaking on behalf of both of the girls. "Are the bird gone?" She asked, looking at Klaus. Skye nodded, snuggling deeper into her pillow as she added, "And is everyone okay?"

"Yeah, they're gone, sweetheart. Everyone is okay, too, but really all that matters is if you two are, and we are going to make sure that you both are okay. And when you two are better, which will be soon, we three are going to share the biggest plate of beignets you've ever seen. And you can tell me where in this big, wide world you'd like me to take you both next," Klaus said, a small smile on his face. The two girls were smiling as well, obviously happy to be reunited with their father after five years.

"Mom said you loved New Orleans most of all," Hope said, as Skye added, "I do too." Klaus seemed to hold a sad smile as he looked at his girls.

"I did, once. But putting your love in a place is a mistake. Being here in our home, seeing these walls, I am reminded that it is people who are best suited to fill our hearts," Klaus explained to Hope and Skye, and Skye smiled a little.

"Dad, I don't feel so good," Hope said, as Skye nodded, "Daddy, I don't feel good, either." Their stomachs were hurting and they had headaches, not to mention they were freezing cold and just felt... wrong. Klaus caressed the side of their faces, looking pitifully at them. He had wished they didn't have to feel the way they did.

"That man, Vincent Mom said he was a witch. That he came to help me and Skye feel better. But we feel worse," Hope said, again speaking for both of the girls. Skye nodded in agreement as she held her favorite pillow and laid against it. She didn't talk much at the moment, but only because she felt terribly ill, and any time she spoke she felt like her head would explode from all the hammering in it, the headaches. Usually, Skye was a bright and bubbly girl.

"I know. I know. But don't worry, because as we speak, your mother and your Uncle Elijah are working with Vincent to fix you two up. So you just stay calm and they'll make everything all right," Klaus cooed softly, trying to ease the girls' worries.

"Do you know what they are? The Hollows?" Hope questioned Klaus, as the two girls needed to know what was going on with them.

"No, sweetheart I don't," Klaus said softly, looking down. Obviously he was cursing himself for not knowing. For not knowing what they were. How to defeat them. How to get them to leave his daughters alone.

"They want those other kids. We can feel them. I think they want us, too," Hope explained. "They whispered our names," Skye whimpered, as Klaus gave a serious look to the both of them.

"I am not gonna let anything take either of you. I promise you that. I'm going to keep you safe, always and forever," Klaus whispered softly to the two of them.

"I know you can hear me. I want you to listen. The hearts which beats in your chests is a warrior's heart. The hearts of a Mikaelson. Whatever hold this power has over you, it is nothing compared to your strength. Yours is a power greater than you know. Come on... Hope, Skye," Klaus said, kissing their hands as he watched them sleep. He started to take the bracelets off of the girls, hopefully giving them more freedom.

"Dad? We saw them. The other kids. They're so scared. Promise me if you ever see the blue lights, don't look at them," Hope said, as Skye said after her as she closed her her own eyes, "The blue lights... They're bad, daddy."

"Hope, Skye," Freya whispered softly, as the girls woke up. She took both of her nieces into her arms and held them close to her, as she seemed relieved. The two girls were different. They didn't seem the same, but nobody had noticed.

"We're not cold anymore," Hope said, a scary looking smile on her face. Skye seemed to also look scary, but Freya couldn't see that. She was too busy being glad that they were "okay" to pay attention to see if anything was out of the ordinary.

Hope and Skye were dreaming, walking through the Compound. A mirror of the Infirmary began to shatter into the shape of the Hollows' sigil. They were coming for the girls. Hope and Skye went to find Klaus. But as he turned, his eyes glowed bright blue, the color of the Hollows' spirits. The two girls screamed ear piercingly and they awoke from their dream. "No, no, no. They're here. The Hollows, they're here," Hope said to herself and Skye, but loudly.

"They're coming for us. They're coming for our family," Skye finished off, out of breath and looking terrified as she turned to her sister.
