"y/n! wait up!"

you quicken your pace to your car as you exit the mall. you were shopping for your friends birthday when ethan saw you. the two of you haven't spoke since the incident with the envelope. he called you everyday for a week, but you never answered, so he gave up.

"y/n, please!" he runs after you and traps you at the door of your car. "talk to me!"

"there's nothing to say, ethan!" you shout 

"there's a lot to say! I've been calling you for a week and you don't pick up. what gives, y/n?"

"why are you speaking to me? are you going to get more money by talking to me right now?" you spat. he flinches and looks at you bewildered before he breaks out into a humorless laugh.

"you're joking, right?" you give him a straight face and cross your arms. "you're insane. the only reason i accepted the money was because i needed it for my family. it wasn't for you! i mean yeah, they tricked me into speaking to you, but that's only because i've liked you for so long. you're crazy to think that i'd ever accept money to date you, that's f.ucking crazy, y/n." he shakes his head and walks away.

you place your head in your hands and sigh. you knew you were wrong for doing what you did, you just didn't know how to react. nobody would know how to react in a moment like that. you felt played, and you instantly stormed off, but most importantly, you hurt ethan.

"i'm a b.itch," you yell out. it catches ethan's attention and he turns around. "i'm a girl who doesn't deserve you. i treated you badly in that situation, and i'm sorry. i should've just listened to you and believed you. i'm an idiot and i'm sorry, ethan." tears fill your eyes and you get in your car and slam the door.

you lost the boy who you loved the most, all because of a stupid envelope.
