ethan sits on the stage with a black piano in front of him. his hands shake at the size of the crowd to his right, but he tries to shake it off. he pretends to not see y/n among the crowd, but he makes eye contact with her. she smiled softly as she wraps her arm around her new boyfriend.

"hello everyone," ethan speaks into the mic. "my name is ethan dolan and this is a song i wrote for someone after they broke my heart. it's called heal," he licks his lips.

ethan takes a breath. he lines his fingers up with the keys for the start of the song. he ignores the sound of his heartbeat in his ear as he begins to play.

"take my mind and take my pain. like an empty bottle takes the rain. and heal, heal, heal, heal," he sings. "and take my past and take my sins. like an empty sail takes the wind. and heal, heal, heal, heal."

he looks up to meet y/n's eyes. "and tell me something's last. and tell me something's last."
he moves his fingers to play the piano beautifully while still making eye contact with y/n. "take a heart and take a hand. like an ocean takes the dirty sand. and heal, heal, heal, heal."

he stops playing and the crowd stands on their feet with tears at the brim of their eyes. y/n wipes away a tear from her eye. her boyfriend checks up on her but she pushes him away and exits the small building with ethan's heart in her hands.
