ethan could feel his heart beating against his rib cage. the black velvet box in his pants felt like an anchor in his pocket. he wanted to pop the question right now on thanksgiving in front of your whole family. they loved ethan dearly.

he knew this was the perfect time.

"and then i said 'hey, that's not my mom, that's my cat!'" everyone bursted into laughter while attempting to not choke on their food. you chuckled and noticed how nervous ethan looked.

you nudged his leg to get his attention. "you okay? you've barely touched your food."

everyone's eyes turn to ethan and he could feel the question on the top of his tongue. he stands up which sparks everyone's attention.

"um, well i just wanted to say something if that's okay with everyone?" everyone nodded their heads and you scrunched your eyebrows in confusion. "okay well, it was two years ago. i was skateboarding with my brother when i saw this beautiful girl trip over her own foot. and being the kind person i was, i helped. i noticed how beautiful she was and i knew she had to be mine one day. so i got her number and we went on our first date. even thought she mistook me for grayson," everyone laughed.

"but with this special girl, i found love in places i didn't even knew existed. this girl was the light that shined through the dark. so i made her mine. and now she sits before me," he turns to your mom and your dad (or legal guardian whichever one fits your lifestyle) "and with your permission i'd love to marry your daughter and the love of my life, y/n."

they nod with tears filling their eyes at the rawness of his voice. ethan's eyes too filled with tears as he got down on one knee and took your hand into his. "i've always known you were the one, baby. will you marry me?"

you wrapped your hands around his neck and said "yes" for what felt like forever.

your family clapped and awed as ethan slipped the ring on your finger. but the clapping all stopped when your cousin yelled "someone is getting some d.ick tonight!"
