╔⏤⏤⏤╝ Chapter 192: Scars ╚⏤⏤⏤╗
Kaido was pushed out of the balcony, falling down along with the samurais. They successfully stabbed him at different areas, but the old wound that scarred his flesh from his past was the one that hurt the most. The deep scar left by Oden. Like a fallen star, they broke through the Performance Floor, leaving only a hole behind. Kaido's subordinates and even Big Mom could only stare where they disappeared in disbelieve. A trail of smoke evacuated from what was left behind, not a single sound emanating either from Kaido or the samurais.
"Is Kaido dead?!" Big Mom could only snort at the possibility. As if the blades of mere samurai could bring him down like that.
"No way! The invincible Kaido-sama can't be dead! Fight them! Kill the Akazaya rats!" Queen shouted.
This was the cue for your allies and the others to remove your disguise. Daichi and the twins were quick to discard the clothes and take their weapon. You took the liberty to run toward the stage while the enemy was too busy to deal with them. You left Yamato and Luffy behind, your main goal now saving Momonosuke before it was too late. You got around the hole and jumped on the wall below the balcony.
You began your climbing, ignoring the commotion happening below you. They were too preoccupied by the samurai, anyway. The floor started to rumble, and you clung tightly to not lose your grip as an earthquake shook the whole island. Kaido flew out of the hole in dragon form, the samurais holding on his back as they were carried through the rooftop. You sighed through your nose, knowing it was useless to worry about them for the moment.
When you managed to reach the balcony where Momonosuke was held at, you only found King and Queen guarding the prisoner. Jack was gone somewhere, probably to Kaido to assist him against the samurais. The bigger of the two began to yell profanities at his transponder snail, demanding how it was possible for so many Udon prisoners to reach and cause havoc all over Onigashima. King was glaring forward with his arms crossed over his chest. None of them noticed your presence.
You crouched immediately when you pulled yourself on the balcony, crawling toward the crossed pillars behind the two giants. You held your breathing, only exhaling and inhaling through your nose when it was needed. You reached Momonosuke without getting caught, quietly standing up to grab the chains tying him down to the cross. The child's eyes widened when he realized you were there, but he didn't even try to make a sound in fear of getting the attention of the other two.
As quietly as possible, you clenched your fists around the chains. Bending them at your will. But the rattle of one of them made you freeze in fear. Luck seems to be on your side as the transponder snail rang at the same time, covering the unwanted noise.
"Stop your whining and come to the Performance Floor! We're short-handed here!" Queen barked, ending the transmission.
Your heart nearly gave up there. With a sigh of relief, you were able to break the chains and undid them. You held the child with one arm around his waist so he wouldn't fall forward and give you both away.
"Pon pon! ♪"
Both Momonosuke and your eyes bulged out of their socket. You slowly turned your head in horror to see the damned tanuki dancing behind you, his not so quiet bell swinging side to side. King and Queen immediately whipped around, their eyes widening too when they caught sight of you and the raccoon dog.
"EH?! HOW DID SHE GET HERE?!" Queen cried out, making a comic face.
"You-!" King exclaimed, narrowing his eyes.
"YOU SHIT RACCOON IM GOING TO MAKE BOOTS OUT OF YOUR FUR!!" you snarled at the dancing Kotaro as you gathered Momonosuke in your arms.
You didn't waste time and made a run for it. You knew you were faster than Queen, but you once again underestimated King's speed. He leaped from his position and shot an arm in your direction, grabbing your waist effectively. The plume of fire exploded on his back, blinding you momentarily. It gave him enough time to swing you and Momonosuke on the ground, pinning you down there with a sword on your neck.
"I must say, you almost escaped us. But the brat is dying here tonight, no matter what. On behalf of Kaido-san, I'll execute him myself!"
"I won't let you lay a a hand on him, leather freak" you smirked. "LEVIATHAN'S CLAW"
King could only watch as a dragon claw manifested through you and punched him square in the face. He was taken off guard by the strength of it, flying backward and into Queen who could only yell in surprise. Ding and Dong out of the picture for the moment, you hugged Momonosuke close to your frame as you dashed to the entrance where the samurais broke through.
But as you were about to pass the threshold, you caught something shining right in the corner of the doorway. Time slowed down, your eyes widening in shock as a fist appeared in your line of sight out of nowhere. You quickly protected Momonosuke, taking the hit full on as you were punched in the cheek. You flew straight into the railing of the balcony, your back connecting first with it.
"O(Y/N)!!" the child panicked, seeing the blood flooding out of your nose like a waterfall. He wouldn't be surprised if it was broken, too.
"(Y/N)!!!!" yelled your comrades from below.
"King-kun, Queen-kun...Trying to let a rat escape?" the deep voice of a man rumbled, making his entrance.
"Ess..." the two giants narrowed their eyes at the old man that shared half their height.
You ignored the throbbing pain at the left side of your face to gaze at the crowd below. Luckily for you, you caught sight of Shinobu waving her arms in your direction to gain your attention.
"Kotaro!" you shouted at the tanuki. "Can you transform into a kite?!"
"Pon pon! ♪" the raccoon dog nodded in confirmation, jumping on top of the railing by your side.
"You see that ninja woman in pink over there? Take Momo to her!" you ordered. "My apologies, but it's better than to stay around here!"
You threw Momonosuke in the air, who let out a scream of surprise at your sudden action. Kotaro followed after him, wrapping his paws around the child's waist. In a cloud of smoke, the raccoon dog transformed into a kite just like you demanded. Both of them soared in the air toward Shinobu, who caught the two in her arms once they were close enough.
"Silvers!" boomed Ess with a feral grin. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting to meet you!"
"Feeling is not the same" you spat a mouthful of blood on the ground.
It was strange. You didn't feel his presence beside the threshold. How could you fail to notice someone as big as him? If you didn't use Haki to prevent any more injuries, your face would probably have become unrecognizable. Whoever it was, this man was dangerous. Ess's laugh boomed, and he pulled from his sash a whip. The weapon released a cracked sound, the metallic rod shooting forward in your direction and transforming into tiny, sharp teeth that reminded you of thorns.
You shot your arm upward to catch the whip around your wrist, cringing at the burning sensation of the teeth sinking into your flesh. You cried out in pain as you were forced on your knees, the whip being covered in Haki.
"You are not going anywhere, Silvers rat. Hurting King-kun before me?" Ess growled, pulling the whip so you were sent crashing into a pillar. "Only I can punch this fool!"
"What's with that guy's strength?!!" you thought, gasping when you collided with another wall. He was swinging you with the whip like a ragdoll.
"Shut it, old-timer" King snarled. "You aren't needed here. Kaido-san-"
"-Is not here at the moment, isn't he?" Ess cut sharply, glaring sideway. "You know how it goes: when the dragon is not around, I take the reigns, Guinea Pig"
Thick veins appeared under King's mask at the last part, his eyes turning murderous. Seems like this insult hit close to home in some way. Ess swung the whip downward, and you followed after it. You smacked your head against the floor, nearly knocking the daylights out of you.
"Oi, Ess-san! We need her alive!" Queen warned, sweat running down his forehead at your beating up form.
"Don't worry about the rat. Her body rejuvenate faster than a normal human being. I won't break Kaido's newest toy just yet" the old man laughed. "We just have to make sure to poke her eye temporarily so she won't cause us problems"
"Meh, I know better than doubt your methods" the fat man shrugged, and King rolled his eyes at his idiotic crewmate.
Ess strode to your position, not caring about the two who started to bicker among themselves like an old married couple. You could barely lift your head as the whip circled around your neck, constricting it in the process. The teeth gripped your skin, and you wouldn't be surprised if they were currently drawing out small pearls of blood.
"I wonder how much strength I will gain by taking out your heart, Silvers. How long will it beat until it draws its last breath?" Ess wondered morbidly to himself.
"S-Screw that!" you coughed.
Both of you blinked however when you suddenly began to float. Well, in their eyes you were floating, but you could actually feel someone's arms holding you bridal style. Whoever was invisible carried you in the air, and King didn't waste any time to charge at you.
"You're going anywhere, Silvers! You still owe me answers!" Kaido's right hand spat, swinging his leg to hit you. Said limb burst in flames to your disbelief.
He was stopped however by an invisible force. His eyes widened as a figure began to appear, the cloak of invisibility wearing off. Your expression turned relieved when you recognized a familiar face behind the black Germa suit:
"Sanji-kun!"
"I won't let you lay your hands on this goddess, bastard!" the cook snarled, kicking King's leg out of the way.
"SANJI! WATCH OUT!" you yelled in panic.
Ess leaped from the balcony, swinging his whip toward Sanji. You scrambled in his arms to shield him from the giant. The blonde watched in shock as the whip suddenly transformed into a sharp sword, too quick for you to react properly. The blade stabbed you right in the eye, and you screamed in pain. The after effects were immediate as your powers drained from you, already feeling weaker than ever. Sanji glared murderously at Ess while you clutched your bleeding eye:
"How dare you hurt (y/n)-swan?!"
"S-Sanji, we need to escape! Now!" you struggled to say. "He is beyond dangerous!"
"What?!"
King took this opportunity while Sanji was distracted to swing his leg, and land a direct hit in his stomach. The cook coughed as he received the blow, his hold on you failing momentarily and you began to fall toward the ground. Nami and Carrot screamed your name in horror, watching your descent to an inevitable death. Luffy ran so he could try to catch you, even using his Devil Fruit to stretch his arms.
But he wasn't the one who caught you at the last second, nor Sanji. The sound of flapping wings reached your ears, and a large arm enrolled around your waist. King scooped you under his arm as he flew further in the air, facing back to Sanji who attempted to save you from him:
"Shooting Star! Soba Kick!" shouted Sanji, dive-kicking King as his leg shone brightly.
King didn't budge in the slightest the time Sanji delivered this kick, moving his hand forward to stop his foot with only his palm. Sanji frowned deeply, noting how he felt like he just tried to kick down a wall.
"What an over-the-top technique..." King scoffed, before grabbing Sanji by the ankle and swung him away with great strength. "As for you-"
Your consciousness slipped, the pain becoming too much to handle. You weren't sure what was happening anymore. Your whole world fell upside down, your mind turning into jelly as your thoughts juggled with each others. Who was holding you currently? Actually, were you falling now? You couldn't feel King's hold on you anymore.
"I TOLD YOU TO GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER!" You recognized Sanji's voice.
"SANJI-KUN! HE DROPPED HER WITH THAT ATTACK!" Nami's.
"SHIT-!"
"SHE'S GOING TO LAND IN THAT BUILDING AHE-"
Static noise. You couldn't register their last words. Pain burst through your back, sensing that you probably finally landed on a hard floor. But wounds and broken bones were only temporary when it came to you. Shorter to recover than the average human. Time was not your biggest weakness, that damned eye was. Your consciousness drifted again.
(Y/N)! PLEASE BE ALRIGHT!
Luffy's voice filled your mind. Why could you hear this idiot right now? You attempted to open your lids, heavy and glued together. There was a lot of commotion around you, the earth trembling under your fingertips. A loud beating thumping in your ears. It was similar to a heart. Was it yours?
Luffy...It hurts....Something is wrong...
(Y/n)?! I can hear you! Well, in my head! Are you okay?! What's going on?!
You guys...NEED TO GET AWAY FROM WHERE I AM!
A roar cut through you, your eye who was partially blinded from being stabbed now opening fully to reveal a purple void. Dark smoke engulfed your whole body, your vision filling red.
The Straw Hats gathered together. Franky, Chopper, and Usopp were finally able to reunite and combine the Black Rhino FR-U4 and the Brachio Tank 5 into General Franky. Big Mom was disposed of with Jimbei and Robin's help, throwing her outside the Performance Floor like a rolling ball. Sanji received no critical damage from his fight with King, even after the two crashed into a building through the rooftop. His Germa suit was insanely solid.
Now that they were back together, all that was missing was their master gunner.
"I saw her land somewhere around those parts. Luffy, we should make sure she's okay before you-" Nami began, stopping herself at Luffy's serious expression.
"We can't stand here" he stated, narrowing his eyes at the broken building in front of him. "I can...hear (y/n)"
"Uh?! Then what are we waiting for?! Let's help her already!" said Usopp.
"...No. It's back"
The sniper blinked when the ground began to shake under him. A cloud of smoke and a strange, dark liquid exploded outside of the building ahead of them. That's when he felt that familiar and eerie aura. Bullets of sweat ran down Usopp's forehead, his face paling considerably.
"D-Don't tell me-....!" he panicked, earning a confused look from the others. Mostly those who weren't there to witness that event.
An inhuman roar thundered and echoed through the dome. Another explosion came from the building, this time blowing it up into pieces. A giant figure, around 30ft tall, stood up from the rubbles. While it was draped in darkness, those who remembered that day quickly recognized what it was.
"WHY IS IT BACK?!!!" Usopp yelled with tears in his eyes, hugging the closest person to his side which was Nami.
"W-W-WHAT DO YOU MEAN BACK?! WHAT IS THIS THING?!" the navigator also screamed in hysteric.
"I don't understand. Didn't (y/n) tame this monster in the first place?!" Franky moved General Franky to stand protectively in front of his comrades.
"Perhaps it came for vengeance and it hopes to sacrifice everyone here to satiate its hunger" Robin spoke, earning looks from the scared ones.
"NOT THE TIME, ROBIN! SCARY!" Chopper sobbed.
"All of you just SHUT UP ALREADY!"
They flinched when the sound of your voice echoed from the monster. It clutched its head as if in pain, releasing deep growls that shook the ground around it. The demon's draconic tail lashed on the fools who were standing too close, and those who thought they could land a hit on it. Arching its back, it released another cry that reverberated across the Performance Floor. Dark lightnings crackled from the demon's body, causing the Straw Hats to jump away awkwardly. All except for Luffy.
"It's not the same demon form from Crimson Skerries..." Robin said with a frown. "Could it be another life in Hell Realm?"
"It doesn't matter who it is. It's still (y/n), and I'm getting her back" Luffy shook his head, the others shocked at his words.
"B-But Luffy! Don't you remember what that thing did?! There's nothing left of that island and the people who were on it!!" Usopp cried out in fear. "We even needed the help of the Three Poisons-"
"It's still (y/n)!" the captain snapped, cutting Usopp in the middle of his sentence sharply. "...Stop treating her like some kind of monster"
The sniper flinched, glancing down at his feet in shame. Truth is, Luffy was very much aware how worried Usopp was about you. But it seems he wasn't the only one who would forget who was standing across of them. Demon or not, Luffy strongly believed there will always be a part of you that remains in any form you take. And nothing will change his mind.
"So what's the plan? You said you wanted to reach Kin'emon and the others on the rooftop, but if (y/n) is unwell..." Zoro trailed, gazing at the demon whose limbs were moving sporadically. "Not to the mention those Oars-alikes who are causing us trouble"
A few feet away, two artificially produced ancient giants were still causing havoc on the battlefield. They were called 'Numbers', failed recreations of the ancient giants who were far taller than your typical giant with a pair of horns sprouting on their head. A bitter memory of Thriller Bark came to mind when the Straw Hats confronted Oars.
The demon's uproar gained the attention of Goki (Number 5) and Juki (Number 10), the two turning their head in its direction with crazed expressions.
"Shit! They are running in Silvers' direction!!" Franky shouted as the Numbers charged at the demon. "They are truly dumb!"
"We have to help-" Sanji began, only to stop himself when he caught a glimpse of the demon's form. "I-Is it...?!"
The demon crouched backward, before leaping in the air toward the Numbers. It turned its body around to whip its tail at them, catching them off guard. When it impacted against their stomach, they were sent flying and crashed against a nearby wall. Luffy along with his friends and allies, could only watch the fight with their eyes popping out comically:
"S-SHE....SENT THEM CRASHING!" they yelled in unison.
"O-ONI!!!!" panicked the samurais.
"W-WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING NOW?!!!" cried out Queen at the sight of this unknown threat.
Luffy hummed in confusion when he heard a buzzing noise. He tried to clean his ear to see if it would make it go away, but it remained. That's when he realized that it was coming from you attempting to speak with him through telepathy.
Luffy...
"(y/n)!" your captain cried in relief, smiling brightly when he finally heard your voice.
Keep...Moving...Forward...I...Will...Be...Fine...
"Then I'm leaving this floor to you!" Luffy nodded, earning confused gazes from his crewmates who didn't hear a single thing. "(y/n) will deal with them. Just put your trust in her, everyone!"
"EH???!!"
