Chapter 3
I wake up but keep my eyes closed tightly. My head is killing me-- Where am I? I force myself to open my eyes, and I hold my head gently. The first thing I see is him-- the stranger sitting about ten feet away. I gasp and crawl backwards, bumping into the wall of the tunnel.
He laughs, "Did you have a good dream? You hit your head pretty hard."
Oh god, what do I say? Do I try to run agin? I shudder. " P-- Please don't hurt me," I make out, my voice catching in my throat from fear.
He snorts at my terror, "Hurt you? Oh darling, I could do much worse than that." He stands up and walks over to me. I cringe when he sits next to me.
Oh god, I don't want to die. "Please. I-- I'm too young to die."
He laughs, it booming throughout the bridge, "God you're so helpless. I almost feel sorry for you." He runs a hand slowly down my hair, I shrink back from him.
I've seen his face, I realize. He won't allow me to leave. I'm going to die here. I'm going to die. Panic fuels my body and I force myself to make conversation to stall. "Uh-- What's your name?"
He looked at me, surprised. "William. Why do you care to know?"
I don't, I just don't want to die. "Uh-- My name's Carmon. Most people call me car." I breathe out shakily.
He looks disappointed that I didn't answer his question. Suddenly, his face lights up and he smirks at me. "So-- Are you sure you don't want to know 'what the hell is wrong with me', Car?"
My eyebrows knit in confusion. What is he talking about? All of a sudden a piece of out conversation is pulled up in my memory. Me asking him what's wrong with him, and him asking me if I wanted to find out. I notice that he's watching me curiously, awaiting may answer. "Y-- Yes, I'm sure. I just want to leave.
His smirk falls from his face. He sits there for a moment, thinking. All of a sudden he grins at me, running his hand down my arm.
