Chapter 5
The two went to their bedroom, ignoring the annoyed looks from the others who'd heard their sexy times. Once they got to their bedroom, Adryn sat down, while Wesker paced in front of her.
"What's going on? You're worrying me." Adryn was indeed quite worried. She could become sick if she was any more worried.
"I requested a trial with your two friends in it. I wanted to hear Eclipse's explanation of what she meant." Wesker's words were calm, but Adryn didn't react as calmly as Wesker was.
"I'm sorry, what?!" Adryn stood up and was instantly offended. "Why didn't you just ask me?"
"I wanted to hear it from her first since you were sleeping. I wanted something to compare your explanation to." Adryn didn't like this but sat back down as she frowned at Wesker.
"What did Eclipse have to say about my mental health?"
"She didn't wish to talk about it at first. However, after some convincing, she told me. You were previously diagnosed as bipolar, then later on in life as schizophrenic. You also have ADHD and slight dyslexia. Along with severe anxiety." Wesker's voice was calm, as Adryn began to become angry, but Wesker continued. "She also told me that you had a failed long-term relationship along with a death of a beloved pet. She wasn't too specific but she said you two had argued over these things before coming to this realm. It was why she hadn't been with you that night. Eclipse also stated she was sorry for stating those things in such a harsh way, she'd just been hoping that I would end things with you once I found out your imperfections." Adryn was furious that Eclipse told him all of that. She had to calm down before speaking to Wesker.
"That's all true. But there was a lot more to me killing myself than a breakup and a dead cat."
"What other causes are there then?"
"Someone like you wouldn't understand."
"Make me understand."
"I just..." Adryn paused as she thought about what she wanted to say. "I just never really felt cared about or loved by my family. They bought me everything I wanted, sure, but no amount of materialistic things can make up for the hole they put in my heart. I was... am a disappointment to them. No matter what I did. I wasn't well-liked by anyone either. All that negativity wore me down. Losing my boyfriend and my oldest cat within the same year just caused everything to be too much." Wesker could sense that there was more to this, but Adryn continued so he couldn't question anything. "I guess the guilt I felt was eating me up too."
"Why did you feel guilt?"
"I poisoned someone. I don't know if they died or not, but I felt bad about it. Even though the person deserved to be murdered. I still felt bad about what I'd done." Adryn sighed as she looked down, waiting for Wesker to speak. He didn't though. So she looked back up to see him looking at her intently. "So... After hearing all of this, after knowing I'm not perfect anymore, not that I was in the first place, are you still interested in me?" Wesker wanted to answer, but Adryn kept talking. "I mean, I don't know why you ever were interested in me anyway. I'm fat, short and I have a pretty bad personality. Why even care about me in the first place? Unless it's all been a lie?"
Wesker saw the clear hurt and pain behind her eyes. He didn't want to admit it, but seeing that hurt in her, hurt him. Wesker didn't respond to her, he simply walked to her, pulled her to her feet, and held her close to him. He wrapped his arms around her, but she stood there stiff and frozen. He held her to his chest as he finally spoke up.
"Do you want me to lose interest in you? Do you want me to not care?"
"If you stopped caring, or never did in the first place, then I'd be heartbroken. In the beginning, it was fine if you were using me, but now, I'd be upset if that is all our relationship is." Wesker nodded his head, as he still kept a tight hold on Adryn. She tried to look up at him, but he put a hand on her head and held it against his chest.
"I care about you. You might be much younger than me, overweight, short, mentally ill, and different than me personality-wise, but I care anyway. I'm not sure why I do, to be honest. Something in you makes me care for you. Just as you said about me, I haven't felt what I feel toward you, for someone else. This is a completely different feeling than I've experienced before." Wesker allowed Adryn to take in his words before continuing. "I might not often tell you how I feel, or show it, but you should never doubt my feelings for you. I admit I adore you. Despite all of our differences. So, hold your head up high, because a god has chosen you to be by his side."
Adryn couldn't contain her chuckles at his last words. She was finally able to pull away from him, to then grab his face. He allowed her to pull him down to her level and kiss him. After their kiss, Adryn smiled up at him.
"I love you, Albert Wesker. Fucked up self and all. You have my heart, body, and soul." Adryn's genuine words brought a smile to Wesker's face. He then finally spoke the words that Adryn had been craving to hear from him.
"I love you as well." Wesker's tone was softer than Adryn had ever heard it before. The two then share another quick kiss before holding each other. They just stood there and enjoyed the other until there was a knock at their door. Immediately annoyed, Wesker released Adryn and threw open the door. There stood Anna looking neutral.
"Is Adryn available to talk to me for a few minutes?" Anna asked Wesker, as she looked past him to see Adryn standing there too. Adryn approached the two of them and looked at Wesker for a moment before looking back at Anna.
"Sure, I'm available." Wesker frowned at Adryn's words, but Adryn merely patted his chest. "It's fine. She and I are friends, so it's okay for us to talk." Wesker reluctantly nodded his head and with that, Adryn and Anna were off toward the living room. Once there, Adryn noticed The Doctor seated there, reading a book. He didn't even bother looking up at the two women. Anna and Adryn sat on the couch together as Adryn eyed the man in the room.
"Don't worry about him. He doesn't care about us talking. He probably doesn't even hear us." Anna stated causing Adryn to nod her head. "I wanted to ask if you were alright."
"Why shouldn't I be alright?"
"You had an argument with Eclipse, a not-so-good trial, and a deep conversation with Wesker. That's a lot to deal with in one day."
"Oh... Well I mean I am bothered by my argument with Eclipse. The trial didn't matter too much since it was my first one as a killer. I just minded Chris' words. The talk with Wesker went better than I could have expected it to go actually. So overall I'm alright."
"Do you have intentions of talking with Eclipse again?"
"We both need to calm down more and get over some things before we try talking again. If not, we'll just have the same argument over and over again."
"What about the trials? Do you need any help with them?"
"I have to figure out my own style for trials, but I appreciate your concern. Honestly, as much as I love using Wesker's knife, I'm not that great at it and I'm pretty slow."
"Are you sure you don't have anything special about you?"
"I don't think that I have anything special about me. I don't know why I was chosen as a killer. I'll probably be a failure at this like everything else."
"You know... I've noticed something off about you. You seem more different as time goes on. I've noticed it since the incident with Taemin." Anna's words confused Adryn.
"What do you mean?"
"Have you been put in true danger while here?"
"Other than the incident with Taemin, no. I mean, you came to save me though."
"I only came after I heard a crash from the basement. I came down to see Taemin on the floor and you looking inhuman."
"What? I don't remember that at all. I only remember Taemin attacking, and then you saving me." Adryn was fully confused now. Anna was as well.
"Adryn, do you mind if I attack you myself? Maybe it'll awaken something in you again." Anna's suggestion caused Adryn to be worried. She wasn't sure that was a good idea, but she was curious about this inhuman side of her.
"Alright. Just as long as Wesker doesn't find out. I don't think he'd like me putting myself in danger on purpose." With Adryn's permission, Anna and she went outside the mansion. Without warning, Anna threw a hatchet, narrowly missing Adryn. She doesn't even react though. After a few more failed hatchet tries, Adryn sighed in defeat. "I don't think this will work. I'm not afraid of you. I know you won't hurt me."
"What about I help out with whatever you're up to?" It was Ji-Woon who had suddenly approached them. Adryn instantly picked up on negative vibes from him but nodded her head anyway. So, Anna stepped back to just watch over them, unsure of Ji-Woon's intentions. He instantly moved toward Adryn, bat raised, and swung when he was close enough. Adryn was nearly hit, but she ever so slightly moved out of the way in time and dodged him.
"Are you actually trying to hurt me?" Adryn was surprised, but also not. She knew that her friendship with Ji-Woon had crashed and burned, but she didn't think he'd actually want to hurt her.
"I want you dead. You hurt Eclipse, so you no longer deserve to live." Ji-Woon then lifted his bat to swing again, Adryn realized she wasn't able to move out of the way this time. As he swung down on her, Adryn's hand shot up and grabbed the bat where the blade wasn't. She was able to stop his swing and shove him backward away from her. Both Ji-Woon and Anna were surprised at Adryn's sudden strength, but then realized she didn't look normal anymore.
Adryn's eyes were no longer green, they were now golden snake-like eyes surrounded by black where the whites should have been. Her skin was paler than usual and there were black cracks running along her skin, with a golden pulsating hue from them.
"The fuck is your problem?! Are you really so in love with Eclipse that you really want me dead, or are you insane?!" Adryn yelled at the man, furious that she had been nearly hit with his bat. Ji-Woon recovered from his initial shock at her change and stepped toward her again.
"You started it by arguing with Eclipse. She's mine to protect and care for! I can't allow anyone to hurt her!" Ji-Woon yelled back as Adryn scoffed at him.
"Eclipse has Taemin now, she doesn't need you."
"Shut up!" Ji-Woon raised his bat again and went to hit Adryn. "I'm all she needs! Not that corrupted freak!" As Ji-Woon swung down again, Adryn was easily able to dodge him. She then pulled out Wesker's knife she still had on her and moved forward to Ji-Woon. Before he could move away from her, Adryn slammed the knife right into his chest. She then kicked him backward and to the ground.
"You shouldn't be such a crazy asshole!" Adryn growled at the man on the ground. The Entity then intervened and took Ji-Woon away without a word. "You could have at least left the knife, you know..." Adryn frowned at the ground as Wesker came out of the mansion. He'd heard the yelling and wanted to make sure Adryn was alright. As soon as he walked out and saw Adryn, they both froze. After a moment, Wesker rapidly approached her. He gently touched her face, admiring her eyes.
"Since when were you not human?" Wesker questioned in awe of his lover's changes.
"Um... This is a new development for me as well. I didn't expect this." Adryn answered before frowning at him. "The Entity took your knife away with Ji-Woon. Who I just stabbed." Wesker didn't care about the knife. He cared that Adryn was different.
"Again, when were you not human?"
"I guess this whole time... I haven't felt normal since getting here. I just figured that I was being affected by the new realm. I wonder if something changed in me when I got here..."
"It doesn't matter. You're beautiful." Wesker's words caused Adryn to blush. She then slowly shifted back to normal. Her eyes went green, a bit more color came to her skin and the black and gold vanished. "How did you find out about your new abilities?"
"Oh... Um... Anna and I were putting me in danger and Ji-Woon came and actually attacked me. I guess Anna saw this new form of mine when Taemin attacked me and she wanted to get it to happen again. So yeah..."
"How do you feel now?"
"Powerful. Stronger. A little crazier. I feel like something wants to tear through me and take over."
"That will be a problem, but I'll help you keep yourself under control, now that you've awakened whatever it is within you. I'm not happy you put yourself in danger without me here though."
"If you were here, it wouldn't have been true danger, because I know you would protect me no matter what."
"While that is true, I'm still angry with you." Wesker was then surprised when Adryn moved and got super close to him, before grabbing a hold of his overcoat and pulling him down to her level. She then smiled at him.
"Are you sure you're mad? How can you be mad at someone this adorable?" Adryn's smile turned into a smirk as she spoke to him. Wesker couldn't help but chuckle at her.
"You are adorable, but also an idiot at times."
"You mean most of the time." Adryn and Wesker both chuckled at this. Seemingly forgetting that others had come to see the yelling, Wesker grabbed Adryn's hips and pulled her against him all the way.
"I'll forgive you if you can show me how sorry you truly are." Wesker's words caused Adryn to nod her head as she leaned up a bit to kiss him. He kissed her back and the two moved their lips together. After a moment, someone around them coughed, reminding them they weren't alone. Adryn and Wesker pulled away from each other immediately. They looked around them to see quite a few killers watching them. They'd come out to see the fight and got an eyeful of other things they now regretted witnessing.
"I didn't think you knew how to flirt, Wesker. Nor did I think you were the teasing kind." Anna stated as she was amused by the two's show of affection. Wesker was instantly furious.
"Go back to what you were doing and mind your own business." Wesker snapped at the group of people watching him and Adryn. The damage was done though, all of the killers were going to now know that Wesker did indeed have a soft side, only directed at Adryn. Speaking of Adryn, she was blushing crazily.
"Fuck... I got lost in him again..." Adryn muttered to herself, completely embarrassed. Wesker, while angry still, found Adryn's embarrassment amusing.
"Is being lost in me so bad?"
"Yes, because if we hadn't been interrupted, I would have torn your clothes off and fucked you right here. In front of everyone. Something deep within me craves you now. It wants you more than anything else." Adryn's admission was surprising to Wesker. He didn't mind it though.
"It's your demonic side influencing that thought and craving." Wesker and Adryn turned around to see Eclipse and Taemin standing there.
"What do you mean, how do you know?"
"My goddess abilities and Taemin's demonic dragon-god abilities have been awakening as well. The three of us changed when we got here." Wesker didn't think Eclipse was serious at first, he only understood she wasn't joking when she looked so serious.
"What do you mean? 'Goddess abilities'? 'Demonic dragon-god abilities', 'demonic side'? What is going on?" Wesker was confused and he didn't like that one bit.
"The realm that the three of us come from has magic in it. It's a fairly normal world since most people don't have access to their magic due to it being sealed away to blocked somehow. However, the three of us had slight access to it, and now what was blocking it for us is gone." Eclipse explained the basics before continuing. "I am from a line of goddesses that have powerful abilities. Taemin is from a demonic dragon-god line, which only activated when he and I met."
"I was born of a demon and magic. I'm a demon, I guess. I thought it was only possible to awaken my abilities if I die though. So I guess I must have before The Entity took me away. I just never realized it until I was told by Anna. I really didn't feel it at all. I didn't think I had actually died."
Wesker's head was spinning. He tried to wrap his head around magic. Demons. Dragon-gods. Goddesses. That was all real in their realm. He was even more confused now. He knew science things well, but magic was completely out of his zone. It was so far-fetched to him. His confusion must have shown on his face because Adryn chuckled at him.
"Do you need proof?" Adryn asked as she stepped toward Wesker again.
"Can you prove it to me?" Wesker needed proof. He wouldn't and couldn't believe them without it. Seeing Adryn's form didn't mean much, as he'd seen other killers look strange too with strange abilities. To Wesker's question, Eclipse held out a hand to him.
"Take my hand and you'll see my true form." Eclipse's words and hand were met with a look of disgust from Wesker. Adryn couldn't help but chuckle again, so she took Wesker's hand and placed it with her own in Eclipse's hand. The three of them were taken to a place instantly that was just bright white. As the brightness died down, Wesker was able to see Eclipse's true form. It was overwhelming to look at.
Eclipse was taller than normal, and she looked inhuman. She had three sets of silver wings behind her back and three smaller ones coming from next to her ears. Her hair was the color of very pale pastel pink, in contrast from her normal blonde hair. It was inhumanly long, and was flowing as if it was under water; as if it were alive. Her eyes were silver chrome that were nearly glowing. Her skin was pale with shimmers that mirrored freshly fallen snow. Her fingernails were significantly longer and more pointy. They were the color of galaxies of different shades of purple, just as her lips were. Her clothes were now a Gothic regal style. They were black, with accents of silver and purple, with an eclipse pendant hanging from her neck. The aura around her was radiating from her and was a purple galaxy. She had a halo coming from the back of her head, with spouts of silver and purple light, with what seemed to be a type of multi-purple gemstone. She was even about three inches taller.
After seeing Eclipse and being in reluctant awe, Wesker realized he was looking at a true goddess. She clearly had abilities that could easily overcome his. She was superior to him and it made him feel disgusted with not only her but himself for being weaker. Wesker was frustrated at feeling like this but felt Adryn squeeze his hand. This caused him to look at her. She was smiling up at him with her demonic features. She was still so beautiful to him, and it nearly made him forget how terrible he felt.
Wesker was finally done with looking at this goddess in front of him, so he pulled his hand out of Adryn's and Eclipse's hands. Once he could control his body and was back in the normal realm, Wesker took a step away from them. This man with a god complex was faced with a true god. It made him feel extremely conflicted. There was no denying Eclipse's power, but he didn't want to believe it at the same time.
Realizing how Wesker was feeling, Adryn took his hand in hers again. She waved goodbye to Eclipse and Taemin and began to pull Wesker with her. She wasn't sure what exactly he was feeling but she could see that he was getting frustrated. She wanted to take him away to help him feel better. She needed to comfort her god.
