Chapter 14
Once Adryn and Wesker were outside of the mansion, neither even spared a glance toward where Wesker's belongings were. They made their way right to the campfire, hoping that no one else was there. They didn't need anyone to get in their way at that moment.
"Hey! Are you here?!" Adryn called out once at the campfire. "I have a question that you need to answer!"
"I did warn you to not get drunk." The Entity responded instantly. "Why did it take you two so long to realize this? It took Anna bringing it up for you to even think of the possibility. I'm disappointed in you two. Adryn, you've been pregnant before, you should know the signs."
"Yes, but I'm also an idiot. I'm sorry for that."
"A genius such as you, Albert, should have seen this before Anna pointed it out." The Entity was teasing them. Which neither appreciated. "Yes, Adryn, you are carrying a child. Wesker's child. The baby was conceived the first time you two had sex."
"I just..."
"Yes, you drank plenty of alcohol last night, even so, the life in you is fine. I protected it from the alcohol, as I've been closely watching you. I did look away for some parts, of course." Feeling completely and wholly overwhelmed, Adryn had to sit down on a log. She was stunned and honestly terrified. While Adryn's emotions were written on her face, Wesker was neutral and wasn't showing anything that was in his mind. "Adryn, you will not be in any trials for the indefinite future, as I don't want anything to happen to the baby. I will be watching you closely, so you should feel safe, as I want nothing more than this baby to be born."
Adryn looked up at Wesker, hoping for something from him, only to receive nothing. His face was illuminated by the fire, but there was nothing written on it. He was blank. Though his eyes did hold something within them, Adryn wasn't sure what it was. Tears slowly came to her eyes, as she tried to keep herself calm. The bunch of emotions she'd been holding in and the new feelings she felt were overflowing and spilling out all at once.
"Congratulations, Adryn, Albert. You will be the parents of the first baby to exist here in my realm. However, time moves differently here. It's faster. The baby will be just fine though, as Adryn, your body has grown accustomed to the time here. So you two should celebrate without worries, and without alcohol. Nothing will go wrong with this baby." Both Adryn and Wesker were able to feel that The Entity left them to themselves. This is when Adryn broke down completely. She wasn't sure if her tears were happy or sad. The only thing she knew was that she was sobbing.
Adryn covered her face as she sobbed to herself. She was overwhelmed and emotional with every different emotion she was capable of feeling being felt all at once. Adryn's sobs turned broken as she tried to continue breathing right, but failed at breathing altogether. Hearing this, Wesker seemed to break out of whatever trance he'd been in. He crouched down to her level and reached out to her.
"My dear, are you alright?" Just as Wesker's hand was about to land on Adryn's leg, she stood up and moved away from him. She faced away from him and dropped her hands to her sides as she slowly calmed down. Different emotions taking over. "Adryn, what's wrong?"
"What isn't wrong? I'm not prepared for this. I don't know how to handle or deal with a baby. I'm not even sure if I can handle this. What if I lose another baby?" Adryn spoke as she turned to face Wesker, tears still streaming down her face, just more calmly now. Wesker carefully approached her and this time Adryn allowed his touch. He pulled her against him, wrapping his arms around her.
"I am quite surprised as well, but you are pregnant now. This is happening. There is no use in thinking about what could go wrong. We just need to focus on you and our baby now. That is what is most important." Wesker's tone was serious and precise. It held no emotion stating how he truly felt at that moment.
"Are you even happy about this? Are you alright with this turn of events?" Adryn's sad, broken-sounding words caused Wesker to pull away and look down at her tear-stained face.
"I am thrilled about this. It was just a shock at first." Wesker softly smiled at Adryn, hoping she would understand he was serious. "Are you happy though? You were just sobbing."
"I am happy, but... terrified. How will the pregnancy go here? What about the birth? Will everything be okay?"
"My dear, I will not allow anything to happen to you and our baby."
"I appreciate you wanting to protect us, but things are bound to happen. Nothing is ever perfect. Especially when the others find out. What will they think of us? Will the others accept me pregnant? Will the survivors hate me more so? I'm scared that someone is going to try to mess this up for us."
"No one will touch you. I will be by your side at all times. That won't be any different than normal, as we are always together anyway. If I must, I will keep you away from everyone to ensure you are safe."
"I don't want to hide from everyone. I still want to live my life, just a bit more carefully. I don't want to hide that I'm pregnant." Adryn then realized that they had many people to tell about this before it got out to everyone. She needed to tell her friends before anyone else could tell them before her. "I need to tell Eclipse, right now... but I don't think she'll be happy about this..."
"We can go and visit them, though I don't know if they are awake."
"Eclipse does like her sleep when she can sleep anyway. It's probably best to go and tell her later." Adryn then went back to her worries. "How are we supposed to have a baby with a bunch of killers? Is that even safe? Will they really deal with a baby in their mansion?"
"Why are you so worried about things that will be far in the future? You don't need to worry about such things yet. We'll figure it out as this progresses. Right now, maybe we should go back to our room and rest. We both experienced a shock, maybe we should take a nap." Wesker's suggestion only served to annoy Adryn. She frowned up at him instantly.
"I'm not tired. I don't want a nap yet. Though, I wouldn't mind snuggles." Adryn then sighed and put her hand over her stomach. "I guess my emotional state makes sense now. My feelings have been all crazy because of this little life in me." Adryn was struck by panic again. "Fuck... I have a life in me..."
"My dear, you need to remain calm. Everything will be okay. I will make sure of that. I won't let anything happen to you or our baby."
"It sounds like you're going to end up murdering someone if they hurt me." Adryn meant it as a joke, but Wesker took it seriously.
"No one will even get close enough to hurt you. I won't allow you around anyone if they aren't trustworthy."
"Who is not trustworthy then?"
"The question should be, who is. It's a much shorter list." Adryn chuckled at Wesker's words and shook her head at him and his distrust of others.
"There are some good beings here. Anna is one, and Danny was one before you scared him off."
"Is Chris on your list of trustworthy people?"
"Of course, Chris and Jill both are. Jill because Chris trusts her." Adryn smiled up at Wesker, as he frowned down at her. "Eclipse and Taemin are also on that list, obviously."
"I only consider Eclipse and Taemin to be trustworthy. Only because of their clear connection with you. Nothing more, as I don't care for them otherwise."
"I appreciate you trying to be friends with my friends... well some of them anyway. It's just nice to see you make an effort for me."
"While I don't need or want any friends myself, I will deal with yours, for your sake." Adryn's response to Wesker's words was to pull him down and kiss him. They kissed for a moment before Adryn let him stand back up straight.
"You're amazing, you know that?"
"Dealing with your friends doesn't make me amazing."
"Yes, it does. Everything you do is amazing. You're just an amazing god altogether."
"I appreciate your words, but you are the amazing one, darling. You are carrying our child." Adryn smiled at Wesker before putting her hands back over her stomach.
"There's something in there... slowly growing..." Adryn muttered mostly to herself. She then looked back up at Wesker and smiled at him. "While I'm scared out of my mind, I'm thrilled over this. I've always wanted children, but also didn't at the same time."
"What do you mean?"
"I wanted children, but due to my mental health issues, I was always hesitant. Getting pregnant the first time was an accident, and I guess this time is too. But still. Some of my issues are hereditary. I might pass them down to our child. I don't want our child to be as messed up as I am."
"I understand your concerns, but we'll love our child no matter what. If they have mental health problems or not. We'll help them and love them through anything and everything. I won't allow anything to happen to them. I'll do anything for our child. I'd even give up my life for them if necessary."
"That's nice and all but please don't ever die and leave me. I'd be lost without you." Adryn then looked down at her stomach. "Besides, you can't always save someone from their own mind. Sometimes the mind and darkness win. I'd know. I killed myself."
"That is the past. It is part of your history. We don't need to dwell on it too much." Wesker didn't like being reminded that his lover had ended her life before meeting her.
"I probably think about it more than I should, especially in these recent days."
"Everything will be okay now." Wesker kissed the top of Adryn's head and held her to him again before releasing her. "Let's go back to the killer's mansion and let your friends there know about our news. We can tell Eclipse and Taemin later."
"Chris and Jill too."
"Yes, yes. Them too." Wesker grumbled as he wasn't happy about that still. Adryn chuckled and quickly leaned up and kissed him.
"You're doing a good job at being alright with me being friends with Chris. I thought you'd try to keep me away from him. It's clear you two have problems with each other."
"Yes, there is a lot of history between him and me. It isn't easy to overcome everything that's happened between us."
"I get that and I won't ask about it. That was in your realm, we're here now. So while that history remains, it doesn't have to be how things go going forward."
"Yes, my love," Wesker grumbled before sighing. "I have to admit, Chris doesn't seem too bad if you keep going back to talk to him and rely on him. He is a decent friend to you." Wesker wasn't happy about admitting that. Adryn chuckled and leaned against him before smiling up at him. "Why are you smiling this time?"
"It's just because you're so different. I did love you with all your arrogance, but this less arrogant and more honest version of you is cool too."
"It's merely because of you that I've changed. Without you, I would still be my normal self, but with you, I've found a new side I didn't even know I had."
"I love this new side, but I did love your old self as well."
"Thank you for loving me, despite my god complex."
"Of course." Adryn chuckled and began to walk away from the campfire. "A god always needs someone to worship them, and I'll gladly do so, no matter what or how you change." Within a moment, Wesker had caught up to Adryn and wrapped an arm around her. He held her close to him as they walked back to the killer's mansion. It didn't take too long for them to reach the entrance, and then enter the living room where a worried Anna and a confused Danny were. Anna stood up as Wesker and Adryn walked in.
"How are you doing? Is everything alright?" Anna didn't want to be too specific since she wasn't sure if Adryn would want Danny to know anything about the situation.
"What's wrong?" Danny stood up as well, confused as to what was going on.
"You were right, Anna. Wesker and I were just too dumb to realize it." Adryn spoke with a soft smile on her face. This confused Danny even more.
"Again, what's wrong?"
"I'm pregnant. I'm going to be having Albert's child." Adryn's words shocked Danny more than he had been prepared to be. He had to sit back down as he took in her words.
"I never expected that. Are you sure?"
"The Entity confirmed it just a bit ago. Adryn has been having symptoms for a little while now, we just didn't put them together to understand what was going on." An annoyed Wesker explained to Danny. He didn't like that he was part of this conversation.
"I never expected this to happen. I didn't think children were possible in this realm anyway. I mean, others have screwed around and no one has become pregnant. This is very strange." Danny wasn't sure about how this was possible.
"It is weird that only I would get pregnant, but maybe it's because of my demonic state? Maybe it's made me different from others." Adryn suggested as she looked up at Wesker, who just shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, regardless, I'm glad you're not sick or something. This one had been looking worried while you were gone." Danny motioned to Anna, who had indeed looked worried when they'd gotten there. "Congratulations, I guess." Danny then stood back up and went to move past Adryn and Wesker. However, Adryn surprised him by grabbing a hold of one of his arms.
"I want you to stop being weird around me. I want to be friends again." Adryn's words were sincere, much to Wesker's annoyance. Danny looked down at Adryn's hand on him and smiled sadly.
"I don't want to be friends with you, Adryn. I want you. In a romantic way." Danny then pulled his arm away from the surprised Adryn. "I'm sorry, but it's best we stay away from each other." This left a conflicted Adryn behind. She wasn't happy that she'd lost a friend, but she wasn't about to compromise her relationship with Wesker either. She still couldn't help the tears that began to form though.
"You don't need him, you have me," Wesker stated as he went to put an arm around Adryn. She moved away from him completely though. She then turned away from him.
"I'm going to go see if Eclipse is awake. If she isn't, I'll just hang out with Chris and Jill if they are up. You can come with me if you want, but it's not necessary." The harshness in Adryn's tone was a surprise to Wesker and Anna. Adryn ignored their surprised looks and began to head out of the mansion. Wesker followed after her.
"I'm not going to leave you alone just because you're upset with me," Wesker told Adryn as he stayed behind her the whole way to the other mansion. Adryn ignored his existence as they walked. Once at the other mansion, Adryn walked right into the living room and paused when she saw Mikaela. Adryn looked disappointed as she had hoped Eclipse would just be there.
"Oh, are you looking for Eclipse?" Mikaela asked, to which Adryn nodded her head. "I haven't seen her or Taemin. I don't think they're awake yet."
"What about Chris?" Adryn asked as she walked into the room fully.
"I've seen him and Jill, but I'm not sure what they're up to right now. It's probably best to just sit down and wait for someone to come out and find you."
"Alright..." Adryn sighed and went over to the couch and sat down. Wesker followed suit by walking into the room, making Mikaela stiffen up right away. She didn't make a move to leave though. He sat down next to Adryn. Who instantly stood up and went to the bookshelf. "I wonder if they have different books here..."
"Why do you need your friends so suddenly and this early anyway?" Mikaela asked as she watched Adryn skim through the bookshelf.
"I need to tell them something and it's urgent. They need to know now."
"Why? It isn't like your pregnant or sick and dying." Mikaela joked, but Adryn paused and looked at her in surprise. "Right?"
"She is in fact pregnant," Wesker spoke up from the couch.
"Oh. Well.... congratulations? I didn't think that was possible here."
"The Entity confirmed it this morning and I've had symptoms for a bit now. Just was too dumb to realize why I had symptoms."
"Alright... but you both were pretty drunk last night. Was the baby not affected by that?"
"The baby was protected from the alcohol by The Entity," Adryn muttered as she paused at a book, only to then move on away from it.
"Why did you two get so drunk anyway? You guys had become drunk idiots once you were wasted." Mikaela's words caused Adryn to blush as she turned to look a the other woman for a moment.
"That was the point actually. We just wanted to let go and exist."
"I don't think any of us have seen that side of either of you before. It was honestly terrifying to see how Wesker got while drunk." Mikaela shuddered while thinking about how she's seen too much of Wesker that night.
"If it scares you that much, then forget about it," Wesker growled from his seat, making Mikaela jolt. Adryn chuckled at this and finally grabbed a book before sitting back down next to Wesker.
"No one is going to forget how you got last night, especially since you don't have your sunglasses or overcoat still. The evidence of your change is still clear to see." Adryn commented to Wesker, who out of surprise reached up and touched his face for a moment. He hadn't even remembered that he never got his sunglasses back, nor his overcoat. Wesker stood up then and headed for the door.
"I'll be back in a moment." Adryn chuckled at her lover and opened her book, ignoring Mikaela's surprised look on her face. The other woman ended up leaning toward Adryn though.
"How did you get Wesker to be so different?" Mikaela asked Adryn, making Adryn set her book down on her lap.
"I guess my love changed him... and me as well," Adryn admitted honestly before returning to her book with a smile on her face. Mikaela went back to her book too, which Adryn hadn't noticed before. It seemed to be a spell book of sorts.
Adryn went to reading the book she'd chosen. The book was about crystals and their abilities. She figured it was one of Eclipse's books as she was very much into crystals. Instead of reading the passages, Adryn just looked at the pictures as she knew most of the crystals' abilities anyway. With a sigh, Adryn closed her book with every intention of getting a new one, only for Chris and Jill to walk into the room. Adryn set her book aside and stood up to address them.
"Hey, good morning. I have been waiting for you two. Along with Eclipse and Taemin, but I'm pretty sure they're still sleeping." Adryn spoke to Chris specifically before shooting Jill a smile.
"Good morning, what's wrong? You never come to me with happy things, not that I mind." Chris replied as he truly didn't mind being a shoulder for Adryn to cry on. He was happy she could rely on him.
"I have good news actually."
"Since when was there any good news in this realm?" Jill asked Adryn, not really believing that she was telling the truth.
"She has the best news possible," Wesker muttered from behind Jill. The woman didn't understand what Wesker meant, but she moved out of his way while thinking about what could be the best news possible. Wesker walked over to Adryn, wearing his sunglasses now with his overcoat draped over his arm.
"I'm pregnant. I'm going to have the first baby of this realm." Adryn stated happily. Both Chris and Jill were shocked and weren't sure what to say at first.
"Wait, I thought you couldn't have kids?" Chris was the first one to speak through his surprise.
"I guess my body healed due to my demonic side."
"How far along are you?"
"Time moves differently here, according to The Entity, so I'm not sure. I just know that I got pregnant the first time Albert and I had sex. That was before I knew about my demonic abilities, which has been some time now. I just can't tell how long for sure."
"The Entity will have to explain the time difference here and how it moves for us." Wesker didn't like not knowing how time moved in that realm.
"Right," Adryn replied as she leaned against Wesker. He then put an arm around her to hold her to him, but just as he did that, she remembered that she wasn't happy with him. So, Adryn tried to lean away, only for Wesker to hold her to him tighter.
"I will not apologize for pushing him out of your life. He told you himself that he wants you romantically. It was inevitable that your friendship would end due to that." Wesker grumbled to Adryn, who frowned up at him in response.
"We can argue about this later. I sense Eclipse is waking up now."
"Well, before you run off, congratulations on the baby," Jill spoke to Adryn as Chris nodded his head. Chris then surprised Wesker by stepping toward then, pulling Adryn from Wesker's arms and into his own. Adryn hugged him back as he muttered congratulations to her then. After the hug was over, Wesker pulled Adryn back to him and glared at Chris.
"There is only so much I can tolerate from you, therefore, do not touch Adryn again."
"Stop that." Adryn pulled away from Wesker and glared at him. "You aren't ruining another friendship for me, so chill out." Adryn then began to walk quickly away from Wesker. "Eclipse is coming now, I need to get to her." Adryn hurried away from Wesker, who was right after her. His legs were longer and so he could catch up with her easily. "Tall fucker..." Adryn muttered to herself, only for Wesker to hear and smirk slightly. Adryn then rounded a corner and walked right into Eclipse. As Eclipse gasped out, Adryn hugged her. "Don't be angry, okay?" Eclipse immediately pulled away.
"Why would I be angry? What's going on? What did you two do?" Eclipse demanded, assuming the worst of the situation.
"I'm pregnant. The Entity confirmed it earlier." To Adryn's words, Eclipse turned around and began to walk away quickly.
"Nope. Too early for this bullshit." Eclipse mumbled as she made her way to her room. Adryn was right on her trail with Wesker behind her. However, as Adryn tried to enter Eclipse's room after her, she got the door slammed in her face. Adryn recoiled and fell against Wesker in surprise. She knew that Eclipse wasn't going to like this, but she'd been hoping that Eclipse would try to be happy about it. Not turn right to anger.
