Chapter 2: Spirit (1/5)
Guess what, guys! I'm nineteen now! My birthday was the 26th of June. Pretty cool, right?
Ahem! Onto the story!
Well, turns out, I'm a mod, my best friend is a mod, and we're being controlled by alien masters who might be planning to make us be the 'Adam' and 'Eve' of a new race of mods, specially made for servanthood. Well, I say we kill those alien masters. That being said, how exactly do I do that?
"Okay, there has to be more like us." Torrice says, starting to theorize a plan. "Maybe we can find them?"
"Yes." I say, "We'll instigate a rebellion."
"And if no one agrees?" Torrice asks carefully.
"Then I'll storm their fortresses alone!"
"Silly," He grins, flicking my forehead. "You won't be alone."
"We should escape first." I say, grinning back. "No way we'll manage to instigate a rebellion from here."
He presses his lips together, white eyes indecipherable. Did he no longer wear his heart on his sleeve or was it because I couldn't read white eyes as well as brown? Maybe it was all in my head?
Torrice looks back at me. "Do you know your mod yet?"
"No." I say, "The test is tomorrow. I'll find out then. You?"
"... yes, but I don't like to talk about it." Torrice says, "I'll go out there. When I knock on the door, follow me out."
"What? Come on! Tell me!" I pout at him.
"No." Torrice says, "Promise me you won't peek."
"I promise." I sigh.
Torrice nods. "Then I need you to deactivate the collar."
The collar was a device the aliens used to control mods. Unlike how the name suggests, the collar was not around his neck.
I flush as Torrice pulls off his shirt and turns around, revealing a muscular back. Plus a rectangular box between his shoulder blades.
I used to be fairly good with human technology. Alien would be a whole other ball park. I pry open the box, looking in at the unfamiliar circuits.
