14 - Tell me
I took a deep breath while looking up at the tall glass building. It looked pretty scary.
"Be confident," I whispered to myself. "It's just a trivial interview. You'll be fine."
Gulping hard, I stepped inside and walked up to the receptionist lady. She smiled at me, bowing.
"How may I help you?"
Do I have to act like that when I get the job?
I cleared my throat. "Yes. I'm here for a job interview?"
"Oh! You should go to the Human Resource department at the eleventh floor. The elevator is that way." She gestured at her left.
I thanked her and walked to the elevator, pressing the button with my shaky hand. Just talking to the receptionist was nerve wrecking.
The door opened and I went inside before pressing eleven. I was relieved that there wasn't anyone else in the elevator.
Humming a tune, I played with my nails to calm down, repeatedly reminding myself that it would be fine.
Ding!
I huffed a breath and walked out. Scanning the rooms, I stopped in front of the door with the plate that said, "Human Resource department".
After knocking on it, I opened it to peek inside. Only one woman was sitting on a computer while the two other desks were empty.
"Hello. I'm here for the job interview," I said confidently.
"Oh, you're here." She smiled before walking to a pair of couches and gesturing at the one opposite her for me to sit.
I obliged and walked towards it before taking my seat in front of her.
"So our team received your application and reviewed it yesterday. We are pleased to say that we were quite impressed." She placed my application on the table. "So, why are you applying for this position?"
"Well... I wanted to improve my soft skills and gain experience from interacting with different types of people."
She nodded. "Our hotel receives foreign visitors all the time and your language skills are very appealing to us, you see. That's why, we are eager to recruit you."
My eyebrows jumped. "Really?"
"Yes," she chuckled. "We will talk about your work hours now."

"Thank you very much for accepting me." I bowed before walking out of the room.
"You're welcome," she exclaimed. "Work hard."
"I will!"
I started skipping back to the elevator with contentment, biting back the grin that was growing more and more. I couldn't believe that I was accepted that easily, and with so much special treatment for being a student.
The sound of a door opening echoed through the silent hallway.
"Camilla, I want a report on the employees' performance of this quarter."
I froze on my tracks.
That voice...
My heart started pounding fast and I slowly turned around before walking back towards the open room. I nervously peeked inside.
I couldn't believe my eyes.
"By the way, Mr. Kim, we recently recruited a new receptionist."
He nodded before flipping a page. "I see. He or she better be skilled enough. The last girl you recruited was beyond incompetent, I was disappointed you accepted someone as useless as her."
My heart dropped.
He looked cold and unapproachable as if he was a totally different person from the Taehyung I knew.
"Send this to my secretary," he ordered before dropping the papers on her desk and walking towards me.
I quickly dashed towards the elevator after turning around a corner, hoping he doesn't see me.
The door opened and I hurriedly went inside before hitting the number one repeatedly when the door wasn't closing fast.
Why are elevators so slow?!
I widened my eyes when Taehyung came to my sight, walking towards me with his head down.
I bit my lips, furiously slamming the button. Please close already!
The door finally started closing.
Taehyung suddenly looked up and froze when his eyes landed on me.
I stared back at him, my breath caught in my throat.
The door closed and the elevator started going down.
I grabbed the handle behind me to support my trembling body. Holding my chest, I breathed in and out while closing my eyes.
I was getting dizzy.
What was he doing there?
Is this one of his companies?
If it was, I made a mistake by applying here. I should tell the human resource employee that I couldn't work here anymore. By any means necessary.
But not today. It's way too soon. I should tell her tomorrow.
The door opened and I walked out, heading towards the main entrance.
"Did you give your interview?" The receptionist lady asked me.
I stopped before turning to look at her surprised. "Hm? Ah, yes. I got accepted."
She smiled. "Then that means we'll be working together."
"Ah... yeah," I stuttered. "See you tomorrow."
I bowed before quickly walking to the door. I better get out of here before-
"Rena!"
I turned around to see Taehyung running towards me, breathless.
How did he come down this fast?!
I dashed out of the door, running as fast as I could to get away from him.
"RENA!"
I didn't look back no matter how many times he called me.
"Please stop!"
His voice was getting nearer and I panicked as I ran fast, crossing the road when the light was red. The cars were signaling their horns and people were yelling at me, calling me crazy.
"Rena!"
I got yanked back by my arm and crashed hard into his chest.
"Are you out of your mind?!" He yelled at me, shaking my shoulders. "you almost killed yourself just now!"
I tried freeing myself from his hold without looking at him, but his hands were gripping me tightly.
"Let me go!" I screamed, my tears started falling from my eyes. I was overwhelmed by his presence, my feelings all over the place.
"Rena," his voice softened as he saw me crying.
"Don't say my name, you jerk! You don't have the rights to call me or touch me when you broke my heart! Let go!" I kept hitting his chest hard, sobbing.
"Why did you do that? Why did you leave me like that? Did you live happily after getting rid of me? Did you already find someone better than me?"
People were staring at us but I didn't care. I wanted to tell him what was on my mind.
"I always wondered why you left... Was it because I wasn't enough for you? Did you no longer want me? I-"
He suddenly pulled me into a hug, wrapping his hands around my waist.
"Why do you still doubt my feelings for you, Rena?" He whispered. "I already told you that I love you more than anything in this world. You are the reason I live... But we just can't be together anymore."
"Why?! Why aren't you telling me the reason, Taehyung? If you tell me that I'll be miserable again..."
He heaved a sigh. "I just want you to live normally."
I broke the hug, pushing him away. "Just admit that you don't love me instead of saying such meaningless things to me."
"Rena..."
I shook my head. "I can't live normally without you. I can't function normally without you by my side. I don't know why but I need you like I need air." I looked up at him before placing my hand against his cheek. "But if you say that you don't love me, I will be able to let you go... So, tell me the truth."
His face twisted in pain as he closed his eyes.
"I..."
