I was in the drawing room reading a book. I wanted to spend some time alone for a while since I had been out all day with Carolyn. I couldn't help but remember the secrets that Carolyn told me about. I had known the Collins family was cursed, how could I forget? I've heard stories about them for years. I pressed those thoughts to the back of my mind as I focused on my book. Thinking it wasn't necessary to think about the curse right now. After a couple chapters I marked my spot before closing the book. I looked over to the other side of the room and saw Barnabas standing there quietly watching me, which startled me a bit. I didn't know he was there and I didn't here him come in. "How long have you been standing there?" I asked him curiously. "Ever since you started reading." He replied as he started walking towards me. "Why didn't you say anything? You could have joined me if you liked." I said as he joined me on the couch. "Well, I...it was sort of interesting to watch you read." he said. There was a small smile on his bright pink lips and a sparkle in his dark brown eyes. Honestly, I kinda developed a crush on Barnabas, even though he's a bit strange. He's just beautiful and intriguing in his own way. "Was it? how so?" I asked curiously with a small smile. 

"Well, for example, the way your eyes flow smoothly over the pages and the way your eyebrows are slightly furrowed in concentration. You can notice a lot of small things if you just observe. some of them can be the most beautiful things you've ever seen." he said. I felt my cheeks heat up a little. We sat there in comfortable silence for what seemed like forever until Barnabas had broken the silence. "What's wrong my dear, you seem as if something is troubling you." he said. the concern was in his voice. I sighed. "It's just...I can't help but think of what Carolyn said." I replied. "What did she say?" he asked. "She told me that your family is cursed, a long time ago when I had first come here. And I know most of the family doesn't talk about it often but, it's been on my mind for so long. Everyone gives me untrusting glances when I bring up the subject. You're the only one who doesn't act that way when you're near me." I said feeling left out a bit. 

"Come here." he said. And suddenly I was placed on his lap. I gasped in surprise which made him smirk slightly. My legs were wrapped around him and his arms were wrapped around my waist. "Sofia, promise me what I am about to show stays between us." He said with a serious look in his eyes. "I promise." I said truthfully. He slowly opened his mouth to reveal sharp fangs that replaced his normal looking teeth. "You're a vampire." I said with wide eyes, but showing no fear. "The family knows of my dark secret Sofia, no one else does. promise me you will stay true to your word. For if not, I'm afraid I will be forced to do something that I do not wish to do." he said with a faint sadness in his eyes. "I will not break my promise Barnabas..I swear it." I said. His fangs retracted and turned into his normal teeth. We sat there in silence and he held me in his lap. A smirk came to my face. "Want to know something?" I asked feeling a bit mischievous. "And what is that?" he asked me curiously. "You make a very handsome vampire." I said, and a light blush filled his pale cheeks. I blushed in embarrassment. We looked at each other. I stared into his gorgeous brown eyes.

I slowly leaned in, and my lips pressed against his. Barnabas was a bit surprised at first but then he gently returned the kiss. Our lips were moving in sync, very slowly and passionately. A perfect kiss, and my first one in fact. I slowly pulled away. I blushed in embarrassment. "I'm sorry Barnabas, I shouldn't have done that." I said feeling ashamed. "No miss Sofia, I wanted this. I have been meaning to tell you this ever since I first laid my eyes on you.....I...I love you Sofia." he said. I felt my cheeks heat up again. I couldn't help but smile. "I love you too Barnabas." I said. And with that our lips met once again in a beautiful and passionate kiss.
