Stage Two
Bela walked out of the door and the scenery changed drastically. It became a hot and humid swampy area. Water surrounded her besides the little dock she stood on. "Well, I guess I have no choice. There's nowhere else to go." She jumped in the water, which luckily was warm. She walked forward. "Ugh, the mud is so thick." She continued walking forward until her feet got stuck in the mud. She pulled on them, although they didn't move. "I can't move..." She looks around and sees a root sticking out the mud. Bela grabs it, just in case if she fell. She tugged on it as she looked around. A tree suddenly had two slits in it that glowed green. "Does that tree have eyes?" She pulled more on the root, wondering what would happen. The 'eyes' open more and more. "I think it's waking up." The tree as suddenly opened, a blonde man with thick eyebrows, green eyes and a cloak walking out of the 'door'. "Who awakens me?" She looked at him strangely. "Uh...me. Bel-...Natalya." The man looked her over before responding. "I have no time for you. No time." He walked back into the tree, closing the door behind him. Bela pouted. She felt another root behind her. She turned back and tugged on the second root harder than she had the first.
The other tree opened, a blonde man with red eyes and sharp teeth, also in a cloak, came out. "What tugs at me so?" The other man opened the door, leaning against it. "She is Natalya." The man smirked. "What a twist of fates that she be stuck upon my branch." "Actually, I'm stuck in the mud." Bela corrected him. "Could you help me?" The men looked at each other. "Help?" Said the red eyed one. "Us?" Said the green eyed one. "If you could just pull me out-" She was interrupted by splashing. Both men had jumped into the water. "That is not what you need." The green eyed man offered his hand to her, a golden watch glittering in his hand. "Perhaps you would prefer some time." She leaned away from them. "I need to find my sister. I don't have time for this." The red eyed one hopped up and sat on the edge of the root which connected to his tree. "But we just offered you some time." The clock disintegrated to sand in the mans hand. "She refuses our help." "No, I'm not refusing. That's just not what I asked for." "Perhaps you ask for the wrong things. She gritted her teeth. "What should I ask for?" The green eyed man threw sand into the air, making a heart shape. "Just enough to be reasonable." The other man threw much more sand, making the heart grow larger. "And just enough to be completely impossible." The sand heart became too heavy for the air and fell, destroying it completely. She was getting frustrated and slightly scared. "Please just help me out! I can't move my feet." "Moving won't help." Said the man with the red eyes. "Where would you go?" asked the other man. "I need to find Katyusha!" "Your feet won't help you find her." The red eyed man pointed out. "She somewhere that feet cannot go." "I'll find her, just help me!" She grew more and more desperate as the minutes passed. "Such certainty." The man said, awestruck by her stubbornness. "Such hope for someone who is gone." The green eyed man said. "Stop saying that!" She yelled. "I'll get her back, I just need help. I'll give anything…" "But with whom shall you bargain?" "No one has what you want." The green man held a figure of a little boy who ran across his arm, smiling and laughing. "What has been taken.." The little boy turned into a grown man in a soldiers uniform, walking away. Anger surged behind the mans eyes and he turned his hand to a fist, destroying the sand figure. "Has been ground into dust and blown away." He opened his hand and let the sand blow away. "Ashes to ashes." The red eyed man said as he went back inside. The water started getting higher and higher on her. "Hey, I'm sinking! Help me!" "Dust to dust." The green eyed man said as he went back inside." "Please! Help me!" She yelled before going completely underwater.
