Chapter Nine: Violent Ends

Realization washed over Edward as he held Bella's convulsing body. He was going to have to deliver the baby. "Just hold in there, Bella," He shouted as he rushed her into Carlisle's medical room. Her bloodcurdling screams of pain made his knees weak. The only thing he could do was stand by.

"I'm going to take the pain away," He said, his voice shaking. His hands snatched her shirt and ripped it in half, so she was half naked. Edward's eyes wandered the medical room, looking for anything to take the pain away. "Morphine," he mumbled as he snatched up a syringe and plunged it into Bella's neck. She let out a moan, but her body still shook, and more blood came out of her mouth. She was going to start choking on her own blood if Edward didn't do anything.

"The morphine has to kick in before I can help the baby," he murmured to himself and he swiftly picked up his cellphone and dialed Carlisle.

"Edward? Is everything alright?"

"The baby's coming!" He shouted into the phone.

"I'm on my way. Keep her stabilized and if you must, cut open her abdominal region to help the baby."

Edward gave a curt nod and hung up the phone. He picked up a scalpel just as Bella screamed "GET HER OUT!" at the top of her lungs. More blood flowed out of her mouth, and she started choking on it.

"Hold on, Bella!" The scalpel pressed into her swollen stomach, specks of crimson hitting Edward's face. It smelled absolutely delightful and mouth watering. He pushed away the thought and dug the scalpel deeper into her skin, causing more screams from Bella. Blood flowed out her stomach as Edward rolled up his sleeves and pushed his hands into her stomach, looking around for the baby.

He finally touched something cold and he lifted it out of her stomach. It was their baby. Their baby boy. Besides being covered in Bella's stomach contents and blood, he was beautiful. He had light green eyes, with the smallest glint of gold. He had a small tuft of dark brown hair on his head. The baby gurgled and started sucking on Edward's hand.

"Oliver Thomas Cullen," He whispered.

He could see Bella's pained eyes glaze over to Oliver, a weak smile planted on her face. "Let me see him," she croaked. Edward gently handed Oliver over to Bella. Oliver's lips rubbed together, making a funny sound. Bella managed a small smile as she looked her baby boy in his brilliant green eyes. "I love you, Oliver," she mumbled.

Edward's eyes widened as he read Oliver's mind, and quickly took Oliver away from Bella. "We don't think about biting Momma," He scolded.

"Daddy!" Renesmee rushed in and her eyes widened as she saw Bella. Tears filled up her eyes as Edward turned her around and looked her in her eyes. "Mom's fine. Go get Auntie Rosalie and Grandpa, now!" She ran out of the room and not even two seconds later, Carlisle and Rosalie were in the room.

"I'll take him," Rosalie said, snatching up a blanket and wrapping Oliver in it. She walked out of the room, cooing the Oliver as if he was her own. Edward looked at Bella. She wasn't moving. Nor was she breathing. All you could see was the ghost of her smile.

"No, no, no!" Edward panicked and grabbed Bella's arm and sunk his teeth into her arm. Her blood was so sweet, but he ignored it as he lifted her head up and dug his teeth into her main vein, running his tongue over the bite, making sure venom was inside.

"Edward..." Carlisle stated as Edward kept lifting up every limb and biting them.

"Carlisle, She's not responding to the venom!" Edward placed both hands on her chest and started pushing. He could hear her ribs cracking but he didn't care. He had to get her back. He had to hear her heart beat. He had to say "I love you." Was she really gone?

Carlisle grabbed his son's shoulders and pushed him back. Edward struggled and growled at Carlisle, but Carlisle was much stronger than Edward. "ENOUGH!" Carlisle shouted, glaring Edward down. "Don't you hear it?"

Thump.

...

Thump.

...

...

Thump.

"She's alive?"

"Bella did say she was going to keep fighting, didn't she? She's stronger than you think Edward."

Edward's shoulders relaxed and his eyes gazed longingly at Bella's limp body. She's not gone, Edward reminded himself. She's just resting. His muscles ached for her touch.

"Go get cleaned up, go hunt and then come back here to meet your son," Carlisle instructed. Edward gave a nod before disappearing upstairs.

Fire touched every part of her body, the flames taunting her. The heat was nice; it was a familiar feeling. The pain was numbing as it spread through her body. It felt like she was paralyzed.

She could still see Edward's face, his eyes haunted by the sight of her. She mentally clenched her fingers, but that only made things worse. Her stomach felt empty; she missed the presence of her baby.

Oliver. That's what his name was. Oliver Thomas Cullen. She loved that name.

An overwhelming darkness clouded her mind. The darkness had never come this quickly.

Something was wrong.

Before she could even fight back, the darkness swallowed her whole.

After coming back from hunting, Edward walked into the living room, where his family was gathered. They were all leaning over Rosalie, cooing at the small child in her hands. Everyone took a few steps back and Rosalie turned towards Edward.

Oliver looked the same. Unlike Renesmee, he was more vampire than human, so it would take him longer to grow up. In a way, it was a good thing. Edward gave a small smile as Rosalie handed Oliver to Edward. His cold hand slipped under bum and he used his elbow for his small head. Edward walked over to the window and rubbed Oliver's back. Oliver let out a small whine.

Momma?

"She'll be here soon," Edward mumbled in reassurance. Oliver let out a small gurgle and started clenching and releasing his fists.

"He's thirsty," Renesmee explained, as she appeared by Edward, holding a small bottle filled up with blood. Human blood. "Grandpa says it's best to keep him on his diet for the time being."

She handed the bottle to Edward and he shifted his weight as he took the bottle. Oliver raised his hands for it greedily as Edward slid the bottle into his mouth. He heard a rip, and the nipple of the bottle ripped open. It didn't seem to affect Oliver. He guzzled it down, with a smile that reminded Edward of Bella.

"Can I hold him?" Renesmee asked. "Auntie Rosalie has been hogging him." She giggled. Edward gently handed over his son to Renesmee. "May I?" She inquired, raising her hand. She wanted to show him what she was thinking.

"Of course."

Renesmee took his hand in her own and started showing him many different things such as hunting, the wolves, Bella, herself and even Edward.

Renesmee giggled and then thought of a question. Do you have any special abilities?

Before Oliver replied, he fell asleep. Renesmee smiled and was about to hand Oliver back to Edward but he shook his head. "I want to be beside Bella." Renesmee nodded and watched Edward return to the medical room.

Edward took Bella's hand in his own. "He's amazing," He said. "He reminds me of you. I can't wait for you to meet him. He loves everyone already."

"I love you," Edward murmured, as he pushed her hair back. "And I miss you."

Two days passed, and Bella was still unconscious.

She had been cleaned up and washed by Alice and Rosalie. Her hair had been brushed and it bounced off her shoulders, not a speck of blood to be seen. She wore a light blue dress that went to her mid thighs and clung on for dear life.

Her body was limp and the only sound that came from her, was the slow and steady beat of her heart. And then, it stopped.

Edward looked up from Oliver downstairs, along with everyone else. She was almost ready. He kissed Oliver and Renesmee on the head before rushing upstairs to where Bella lay.

He pushed open the balcony doors, the cool September breeze flying in. He could hear the venom in her body repairing every broken bone and torn muscle.

Her spine slowly clasped back together like a puzzle, and soon her ribs followed. Slowly, her lungs stopped begging for air. The blood flowing through her veins froze, but the venom continued it's way to her head.

The darkness in her mind was gone. Only a light haze clouded her mind.

The transformation was nearly complete. She felt no reason to breathe. Her senses were enhanced. She had missed this feeling.

Bella could hear her baby downstairs snoring softly, and everyone waiting for her. She could hear them shift in their seats, and uncross and cross their legs. She could hear Renesmee and Jacob playing a small game of checkers, and Jacob getting confused at how a seven year old could beat him, 6 times in a row.

Bella's chest popped forward, after the venom had fixed all of her ribs. She could feel the small breeze that tickled her arms. She could feel Edward, standing in the room.

In an instant, everything stopped moving in her body, including the venom. Now, all she had to do was fight the pressure and open her eyes.

She struggled against the pressure but it didn't take long for it to go.

And then, her eyes fluttered open.

She was stronger.

She was faster.

She was better.

She was hungrier.

I'm so sorry that I haven't updated in such a long time. I've been really busy with school, and then I just got back from vacation like a week ago, so I have had to catch up on my homework.

I really hoped you guys like this chapter. I'm going to update next weekend, and that's a guarantee.

I'd love to hear some feedback on the story so far ;)

Also, I don't know if you guys noticed, but this chapter title has to do with chapter six in Rising Dawn. I believe it's a lyric from Lana Del Ray.

"Violent delights have Violent ends."
