Part 3: non debet homo appetierit
The creature that had saved me was half-man, half-dragon. If not for its human frame, it would have completely resembled one of the mythical beasts. The red flame markings covered much of his face and curled around his eyes, which were a fiery yellow-orange. There was a green glow in his mouth and nostrils. Like the Dog Man, each finger on his meaty fist was tipped with a sharp black claw, though the Dragon-Man's were considerably longer. Long ebony horns jutted from is chin and the tip of his nose, and shorter horns ran along his lower jaw and his tail. His tail was long and start out thick, eventually tapering off in a thin tip with a wicked barb. The scales on its collarbone were spring green, and unlike the small diamond scales on its arms and face, they were long and chevron shaped with a visible overlap.
The Dragon Man lifted the Dog Man out of the ground and let loose with a massive blast of searing bright green fire. the Dog Man yelped in pain as the flames washed over him entirely. The flames also blasted the Dragon Man's Hand, but he didn't seem to care. Looking back on it, a dragon would be immune to its own fire, if not all fire. The Dog Man began thrashing violently, and somehow managed to break free of the Dragon's grasp and roll to the ground. I could tell that he had been horribly burned, but I couldn't get a good look before he launched himself his opponent, lashing out with teeth of claws.
The dragon dodged the initial attack, But the Dog Man whipped around with inhuman speed and slashed with his claws once more, piercing the Dragon Man's scales. The Green beast howled in rage and pain, whirling around. He was too slow. Th Dog man Slashed and bit again and again, and though not all of his blows pierced the Dragon Man's scales, an alarming number did, and blood flowed freely from his multiple wounds. Then, The Dragon Man spread his massive wings and took flight, blasting his opponent to the ground.
Diving down, he snatched up the Dog Man, and swooped up again. He smashed the wolf man against the rock face and ran him through with one of his horns. The Dragon Man pulled out his horns and released the Dog Man, who slumped to the ground leaving a trail of scarlet on the rocks. The Dragon Man collapsed to his knees, visibly exhausted. As I watched, he changed from a Dragon into a human. He was muscular with olive skin and wore a black jacket and blue jeans. He had long spiky green hair that reached down to his shoulders. His eyes were still yellow-orange, but they had lost much of their intensity. He looked around twenty. He turned to look at me, but snapped back around when the Dog Man began speaking.
"So you managed to take me down. What now, Salamander? You know just as well as me that another will replace me within days, and I can tell he's going to be much, much stronger than me."
"What do you mean, Dog Man?" Salamander snapped.
"The next in the cycle will be a wolf, Salamander. The Wolf Man comes," The Dog Man taunted "What are you going to do? Will you kill him while he's still young?"
"No," Salamander replied "I'm going to raise him, make sure he doesn't end up like you."
"I-If you think T-that that's possible, then y-you're a f-f-fool, Salamander. My l-line will always be full of nothing but m-m-m-monsters." And with that, the Dog Man died.
