36: CHANCE
9 months later
AUTHOR'S POV
New York,
12:04 am.
The next three months after the proposal was the most busy and chaotic for Williams as Reed and Edwin got engaged to Alice and Jane while Xaden got married to Hazel.
The youngest moved out and started their married life in their new house that's half an hour's distance from their mansion.
Everything got together.
Alice got certified by her music classes and got hired by Xaden as a pianist. They now work on music together.
Yes, music, Xaden manages to work as a musician as well but he isn't under any agency. He now planning on producing his own mini-albums and sell them under his stage name.
He doesn't do live shows because the venues don't match his schedule. The other reason is Hazel, he can't leave her alone in that condition.
Edwin also promoted Jane so she could pay the installment faster and get rid of it quickly.
Now It's near time for Hazel's delivery. Everyone's waiting for baby William but not more than Hazel who isn't allowed to join office or even go to their mansion. Xaden has been pampering he so much that now all she does is sit and eat at home.
The pregnant lady searched for her slippers beneath her feet, successfully wearing them without being able to see them she grabbed her couch's handrest for support. She signed heavily after managing to stand up with her nine-month baby bump and somehow made her way to her room with her hands on her hips but heard someone signing behind her.
She turned that took her exactly five seasons to do so. She then saw Edwin wiping his non existing sweet from his forehead and then putting his hands on his hips.
Hazel clenched her jaw. " STOP MOCKING ME, I SWEAR-"
Her tantrums got cut off by Reed who walked in like a penguin with his hands on his hips as well.
" Reed, you too?" She pouted.
" You look so chubby." Reed smiled standing straight.
" Say it directly, she has turned fat." Edwin collected air in his cheeks not noticing how her face turned more and more colorless and how badly she took it to her heart.
" Darling-" All of their heads turned towards the door only to see half-sleep Xaden trying to sound cheerful.
Hazel limped to her husband splitting Reed and Edwin. " Xaden, they are making fun of me." She complained pointing her finger at his brothers. " They called me fat. I told you I look so ugly." She suddenly started crying loudly.
" Oh, no," Edwin mumbled knowing he f*cked up.
" It's okay, they were just trying to play. That's all." Xaden hugged her loosely caressing her back. " look I brought everything you asked for, chocolate, icecreams, sore candies, go eat... you ain't no fat. Anyone with a working brain will say you are slim and gorgeous." He added making her break the hug and look up at him. She nodded taking the carry bag from Xaden. " Good." Xaden wiped her tear-stained cheeks before she turned. She glared at his brothers making them move aside.
As soon as she disappeared from their sight Xaden threw himself on the couch upside down.
Now both of them stared at their tired-up younger.
"I can't sleep, I can't eat, and sometimes I can't even properly sh*t. Her pregnancy hormones sucking so bad. Her mood changed every three seconds. She's a baby in one second then turns into a giant monster in the next one." He mumbled, having no more strength with closed eyes.
" And you left her in this condition at this hour?" Reed asked sounding strict.
" She woke me up an hour ago and kicked me out because I forgot to bring some sour candies she asked me to buy." He explained.
" So where did you get these at this hour?" Edwin chuckled.
" From Alice's cafe. They have a stock of it. Let me sleep now. I haven't in two days. I need to sleep. I need to go to the office tomorrow." Xaden answered digging his face in the pillow.
" XADEN!?"
Three of them flinched at Hazel's loud voice from the bedroom.
" New tantrum." Xaden stood up lazily and made his way toward the bedroom. " I think she didn't like the flavor." He mumbled on his way.
" Poor him." They spoke in unison.
" I'm questioning my life decisions. Do you still think we should get married?" Edwin muttered.
" I think we should go back?" Reed concluded.
" We shall before any vass come to kiss our heads," Edwin replied.
They walked to the door and Edwin grabbed the knock to open it.
" MY WATER BROKE!"
Their head snapped towards each other. They froze, processed for a moment with wide eyes before rushing to the bedroom.
" Shit," Reed muttered looking at the mess on the floor.
" Oh, my God! Oh my God!! oh my God!!!" Xaden panicked supporting Hazel to stand properly who was screaming from the top of her lungs while Edwin looked like he'll throw up any second
" Who to call?" Edwin pulled out his mobile from his pocket and started to search for his mother's number with his shaky hands.
" Take me to the HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW," Hazel yelled.
Xaden immediately picked her up in a bridal style and rushed towards the door. Reed opened the door for them while Edwin continued to call his mother but she wasn't picking up.
Reaching downstairs Reed opened the backdoor of his car. Xaden made her sit at the back with himself. Reed sat in the driving seat while Edwin was next to him.
The car started even before they closed the doors. But it suddenly stopped on the highway. They all looked outside except for Reed.
Even Hazel stopped shouting for a second and looked around. There was not a fly. The whole highway was dark and empty. " What happened?" Edwin asked.
" T-The signal is red."
The silence they shared was a minute of silence for Reed's long-lost sanity.
"I'LL POKE YOUR F*CKING EYEBALLS OUT, REED," Hazel yelled every slur known to mankind.
This time the car vroomed and directly stopped at the gate of the hospital.
She got taken inside the delivery room along with Xaden while the other two stood outside. All of them were panting heavily.
Soon some nurses and doctors rushed inside. Xaden stood next to her holding Hazel's hand tightly.
Tears were streaming down her cheeks because of the pain. Doctors told her to push and she was doing her best with the help of Xaden.
Hazel let out a long breath and threw herself back on the bed. Her hand untightened its grip around Xaden's hand and a loud cry indicated the born of their baby.
" Congratulations, it's a girl." A doctor placed the newborn on Hazel's covered chest while the nurses were still working on the cord.
" It's a girl." Xaden excitedly mumbled controlling himself from touching her. The gender wasn't revealed before as Xaden wanted it as a surprise.
The baby got taken outside to clean once they had a few minutes with her.
Xaden stayed with Hazel until she was done with the stitches.
" You are so strong "mama"." Xaden kissed her knuckles.
Hazel passed him a small smile. " Daddy's stronger." She sounded weak.
" Only you are allowed to call me that. She gonna call me "Danny"." He stated.
The door clicked open revealing a nurse holding their baby. Xaden immediately walked to her.
" Wait a minute." He rubbed his hands on his thighs in an attempt to clean his sweaty palms before nervously forwarding his hands to hold his baby.
As soon as he held her he brought her to his chest. " She's so weightless and tiny. Look she fits so well in my arms." He kissed her forehead. A tear left his eye without him knowing and dropped on the newborn's rosy cheek. He carefully wiped that off not moving his gaze from her.
The nurse adored the father-daughter moment before leaving them alone.
" Why isn't she waking up? I want to see her eye color." Xaden continued to caress her cheek.
" Newborns sleep almost all day. Stop annoying her" Hazel explained.
Xaden carefully walked to Hazel and sat on a tool next to the bed.
" She's so beautiful." He said turning his gaze to his wife. " Thank you, Hazel, thanks for carrying her." He appreciated her. She nodded. " I'v
" You have all rights to name her but I have a name in my head." He looked down at his daughter. "Chance. I want to name her Chance." He added.
" Chance," Hazel repeated, liking the name she nodded.
A loud cry announced that the small human has woken up. "Shish." Xaden quickly stood up and started hushing her. " Who hurt you..." He talked randomly in an attempt to hush her and roamed across the room. " Come on... Show Denny your eye color." He said desperately wanting to see it. " You close your eyes even tightly when you cry. How's Denny gonna find out what eye color you have got?" He pouted dramatically.
Hazel smiled looking at them as the baby slowly stopped crying and listened to her father speaking to her.
" She's got my eyes. Chance is team Denny. Let's go." Xaden bounced her a bit carefully which made her open her mouth wide and she smiled for the first time.
" She just laughed." He said looking at Hazel, she nodded watching him play with Chance. " Now I understood why Dad wasn't letting me go. I now know how difficult it is. It's not even an hour with her and I can't imagine my life without her. Sorry Hazel but I fell harder and faster for her." He joked.
A knock pulled both of their attention toward it.
" Get in," Xaden said a little loudly placing his hand on Chance's ear so she won't flinch.
Reed and Edwin dashed it and tried to approach Chance before each other followed by other family members.
" I'll take her." Edwin pushed Reed who didn't even budge.
" I'm an older uncle. I've more rights." Reed fought back.
" That's exactly how you both acted when Hazel was born." Xaden interrupted.
" And you didn't hand her to us saying she's yours." Edwin brought back the past scenes.
" Any doubt." Xaden flexed.
" Just because you married her doesn't mean she only belongs to you." Edwin snapped.
" Guys, stop fighting." Hazel refereed turning her gaze at Xaden. " Hand her to him. He's not running away." She politely requested.
Xaden thought for a second then glanced at his tiny daughter.
" Five minutes each." He carefully gave her in other securing arms of Reed.
Edwin went closer and caressed her squashy cheek not being confident enough to hold her anymore. " She's so pretty," Edwin mumbled touching her delicate nose.
All the other family members gathered around the baby as well making a circle.
All the eyes were on the newborn but a pair of eyes turned to look at the mother. It was Xaden who caught her looking at them with a slight pout.
Their eyes met which spoke thousands of words. Xaden walked to her with a warm smile and sat next to her. " She stole my place already." That's all she whispered.
He pecked her lips softly and pulled her towards him by her shoulder. " You are irreplaceable." That made her smile.
They both glanced at Reed and Edwin who were playing with their daughter.
Soon everyone left and Hazel slept along with her daughter.
The room was quiet and warm. She opened her eyes hearing the chirping sounds of birds outside the window.
The sky said the sun is about to peek. She turned her head towards the cot but found it empty. She looked around to see Xaden having her in his huge arms. He didn't get a blink of sleep because Chance was waking up again and again but he didn't disturb Hazel.
She smiled resting her head back on the pillow.
• She's been a parent for the last nine months, it was his first day.
