NEW BEGINNINGS

The waves drew back with equal fervour as it came. Sanskar stood watching the sun emerge from behind the lines of the sea which seemed to stretch infinitely. The gleaming rays sparkled the water as if gold dust was sprinkled upon it.

As he stood admiring the beauty that laid before him, he felt arms covering from the back. He took a deep breath calming his senses while a smile spread on his lips.

"I was looking everywhere for you and you are standing here looking at the sea" Ragini said placing her head on his back.

"You were sleeping and I thought not to disturb you. When did you wake up?" he asked bringing her infront of him. He snaked his hands around her waist dragging her closer to him.

"Just a moment ago. And you weren't there beside me" she complained twisting her lips, looking away from him.

Sanskar placed a finger under her chin and angled her head to face him. The sun glazed on her disheveled hair, her face flushed with the morning glow.

"So, now that you are miffed, what do I do to get you to forgive me?" He asked lifting his eyebrows.

"That you will have to find out for yourself." She replied while a smile tried to break through her lips.

"Well.... How about..." Sanskar leaned in towards her, their breath mixing with eachother. He closed his eyes as the gap reduced and abruptly felt a push. He stumbled back a few steps as Ragini ran towards the cottage, sticking her tongue out at him and giggling merrily.

The couple had reached their cottage in a private beach the previous day for their honeymoon. The both were so exhausted from their long flight that they had dozed off the moment they hit the bed.

Sanskar entered their room and heard the water running in the bathroom, indicating Ragini was showering. He ordered for their breakfast to be bought to their rooms and sat flipping through the pages of a magazine.

After a while he heard the bathroom door open and saw Ragini coming out, her hair dripping wet from the shower. She smiled at him as she moved to the mirror and Sanskar couldn't help but stare at his beautiful wife. He stood up mesmerized, his legs dragging him on their own. Ragini met his eyes through the mirror and blushed with the intensity they held. Sanskar hugged her from the back, placing his chin on her shoulder.

He gently kissed her shoulder and she closed her eyes taking a deep breath, tingles forming at the pit of her stomach. Sanskar brushed her hair to one side, his fingers causing goosebumps throughout her body. He kissed her nape and then turned her around to face him. Just as they were about to proceed further, there was a knock at the door, jolting them.

Sanskar sighed and the both smiled at eachother as he moved to open the door, muttering curses about wrong timing. He opened the door and found a steward with a trolley carrying their breakfast. Sanskar thanked him and pushed the trolley to their room.

"Breakfast is here. Come, I'm starving" he said placing the breakfast tray carefully on the bed, across Ragini and settled himself.

"When did you order all these?"

"While you were in the shower. Now, let's eat." Sanskar said patting his tummy and she couldn't help but chuckle.

Ragini's eyes lit up as she saw the contents in the tray. Everything were her favorites. They relished their food in the company of each other.

They spend their day exploring the shops and a few places in the outskirts of the beach. The two were so much in love and the people around them couldn't help but admire the couple.

They were in a mall swanning around when something caught Sanskar's eyes.

"Hey, you just stay here. Okay. I'll be right back" he said making Ragini sit on one of the benches.

"What... B-But why? Where are you going" she asked suddenly confused.

"Give me a moment. I'll be right back. Just don't go anywhere" he called out as he disappeared and Ragini was left perplexed.

Sanskar entered the store and went right away to the jewelry that was on the display. He wanted his wife to have that from the instant his eyes caught it.

"How may I help you, sir?" A petite looking blonde in her early twenties asked him.

"Um, I would like to have that necklace billed" he said pointing at the jewelry.

"Sure sir. It is one of our most expensive and exclusive pieces. You see, there's just this single piece in this design." she informed as a part of her job and Sanskar nodded at her with a content smile.

"If you don't mind me asking, may I know who this is for, sir." The girl asked with a timid smile.

"My wife." He said, the two words bringing an instant glow on his face.

Sanskar exited the store, the gift secured in his jacket and headed straight to where his wife stood. But he couldn't find her where he left her.

A sudden panic shooted through him and he immediately dialled her number. The call went dead unanswered and his forehead creased in worry. The place was foreign to them and he couldn't fathom where she might be.

Just as he was about to go in search of her, he felt a tap on his shoulder and found Ragini smiling up at him. He instantly crushed her in his embrace heaving a breath of relief. Ragini was confused by the sudden hug but reciprocated none the less.

"What is it?" She asked rubbing his back.

"Where were you gone? I came here and you were nowhere around." Sanskar spoke releasing her.

"I was just checking around some stores as you were taking long to come back."

"And why didn't you pick up your phone?" He asked, this time a bit stern.

"Uh, I didn't hear it ring. Sorry." She apologized sheepishly trying her best to bring the innocent look.

"You nearly gave me a heart attack and I can't even be angry at you." Sanskar said with a chuckle as he pulled her into another hug.

Sanskar sat on the sand watching the night sky studded with countless stars, the wind ever so serene. The place was silent except for the wind and the waves.
Not long after he felt the presence of Ragini beside him.

She snaked her hand around his arm kept her head on his shoulder as she joined her husband in admiring the beauty of the night. Sanskar tilted his head, planting a kiss on the top of her crown and she smiled feeling content.

"I've got something for you" she said after a moment of silence.

He turned to look at her and only then did he noticed a package lying on her lap. She held it out for him and he took it with confusion on his face.

"Open it."

He gently tore the packaging and found a square box inside. He opened it and there was a brand new rolex staring back at him. He took it out of the box as his eyes gleamed.

"Turn it around" said she.

He turned the watch around and there, inscribed on the metal was 'You and me. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.'

"It's beautiful." He said as she strapped it around his wrist. "But when did you buy this?"

"The other day. When you left me to alone to stand at the mall." She said gleefully.

"I've something for you as well" Sanskar said as he fetched the rectangular box from his pocket.

Ragini opened it and let out a small gasp seeing the piece of jewelry. It was a simple necklace with diamonds joined end to end in a single layer. The stones glittered in the night. As she looked closer she saw a neatly yet artistically inscribed "R&S Eternally", right below the hook clasp where the diamonds ended.

"This... This is so lovely" she exclaimed holding it in her palm.

Sanskar took it out of her hands and turned her back to him. He gently swept her hair to a side and placed the jewelry around her neck. His fingers gently graced her skin, sending shivers down her spine. He fastened the necklace and his hands slowly held her shoulders.

"But not as much as you." He said leaning closed to her ear and she blushed a bright shade of red.

His lips grazed the back of her ear and she curled her fingers to compose her ragged breath. His hands gently slid down her arms and the contact of skin on skin sent tinkles to both.

Ragini turned around and and buried her face in his chest and he gently lifted her head placing a finger on her chin. He cupped her face and her arms snaked around his nape. They were mere inches away from each other and their breaths mixed with one another.

Their lips crashed and moved with their own rhythm. Sanskar's hands shamelessly roamed her back her hands ran through his hair pulling him more to her. They broke of when the need to breath became far more important.

Their ragged breath and fast beating heart sang a tune of their own as they stayed there with their foreheads joined. Their eyes screamed of desire and passion.

Sanskar stood up and pulled Ragini up. His hands snaked around her and she kept her hands on his chest, listening to his heartbeats.

"You know..." Sanskar started pulling her closer. " I'm the most happiest when I'm with you. You are the reason I look forward to next day. And all I want to tell you is that I love you and I'll keep loving you."

Ragini's eyes glazed as she looked at her husband. One of her hands gently moved to cup his face. "I feel complete with you. You give all sorts of feelings. The sound of your voice always gives me butterflies. I love you too and I would want nothing else than spend the rest of my life with you."

Sanskar tilted his head and kissed the inside of her palm. "Well... You don't have any other choice. You are practically stuck with me, forever." He stated cheekily as he scooped her in his arms and she let out a startled shriek.

"And I wouldn't want it any other way." Ragini spoke as she dangled her hands around his scruff and Sanskar walked inside carrying her to their room.

That night the starts and the moon witnessed the union of two souls bound by love, eternally.
