Chapter #3
Anamika and Vineet reach Angel’s residence amidst their lively chats. Ansh is at Angel’s home and she has invited them to have dinner. Vineet doesn’t like to disappoint his sister, so he agrees with her. As they enter the house, they’re delighted to see that it’s decorated very beautifully. As they wonder what the occasion could be, Angel pops out of nowhere, leaving them stunned for a moment.
“Mujhe pata hai, aap log bhool gaye honge! Lekin mujhe yaad hain. It’s been a month of your wedding. Aur meri Ruhi ki half birthday hai. Celebrate toh karna hai na.” Angel chuckles.
“Aapko yaad tha?” Anamika is surprised.
“Haan, main kaise bhool sakti hoon wo din. Mere bhaisahab tumhari wajah se khush hain. Toh ye baat toh celebrate karni padegi na, Anamika.” Angel says.
Yeah, it’s been a month since their wedding and they didn’t even realise it. Vineet has indulged himself in his new family that he didn’t realise it. Anamika hugs Angel, thanking her for her surprise. Her eyes fell on Ruhi, who chuckled at seeing Anamika. It seems like she likes this lady way too much. As Anamika walks towards her, the little girl stands up, throwing her arms towards her. She lifts Ruhi in her arms and the girl chuckles.
Anamika plays with Ruhi and in the meantime, Sachin returns home with Saransh and Ansh. Ansh rushes towards Vineet and climbs in his lap.
“Dadda! Humne aaj cricket khela, bade wale ground pe.” Ansh fills him with the information.
“Aapne shaitani toh nahi ki na, Ansh?” Anamika questions at which the boy makes a foul face.
“Ansh shaitani nai karta.” He says, making a grumpy face.
“Achcha!! Main bataun kya kiya tumne kal?” Anamika rolls her eyes at her son.
“Kuch nahi kiya usne. Tum mere bete ko pareshan mat karo. Tumko aur Angel ko bas shaitani dikhai deti hai.”vineet looks at the two ladies.
“Haww! Maine kya kia, bhai? Mujhe kyun beech mein laa rahe ho?” Angel gapes at him open-mouthed.
“Tu bhi Saransh ko dant-ti rehti hai, sab pata hai mujhe!” Vineet gazes at her.
“Ye aapko kahaniyan sunaata hai aur aap maan lete ho! Sach mein shaitan hai ye ladka.” Angel makes a face, looking at her son and taps his head.
“Bache sach kehte hai.” Vineet retorts.
“Haan, aur aap aur bhai bhole ho jo samajh nai paate.” Anamika says that ever since, Sachin did her kanyadaan, she calls him bhai.
“Sahi keh rahi ho, Anuu! Ye dono dost ek jaise hai. Huh!” Angel says.
Meanwhile, the little girl begins to cry, it seems like she doesn’t like her mother and Maami scolding her dads and brothers.
“Ye dekho, aai badi dramaqueen! Bhai se ladegi bhi aur fir koi unse kuch kahe bhi nai!” Angel comments and the little one glares at her mother.
The other three laugh at her act. Anamika makes Ruhi busy with her toys and helps Angel lay the table. This small family gets to indulge in dinner and have a good time. After spending quality time with Angel and her family, Vineet, Anamika, and Ansh return home. The boy fell asleep during the ride, so Vineet lifted him in his arms while Anamika unlocked the house.
Vineet takes Ansh to his room, where Anamika changes his clothes and puts him to sleep again. Assuring herself that Ansh is asleep, she covers him with a duvet and moves into her room. She finds Vineet easing on the bed and he asks about Ansh.
“Wo so gaya hai. Lagta hai aaj kaafi masti ki hai usne.” Anamika says.
“Lag hi raha hai. Sachin tha na, uske rehte bachche bore nai hote. Wo khud unke sath khelta hai.” Vineet smiles.
“Haan, he’s sweet to take out so much time.” She genuinely adores Sachin.
Vineet smiles and Anamika moves into the dressing room to freshen up and change. Fifteen minutes later, she comes out of the washroom and takes her place on the bed. He switches off the television and looks at his wife. She knows he’s up to something.
“Tumhe yaad thaa na ki aaj hamari shadi ko ek mahina ho gaya hai. Phir bhi kuch nahi kaha?” He asks gently.
“Jab kisi ka sath achcha lagta hain na, Vineet, tab, taareekhein yaad nahi rakhi jaati. Mujhe sach mein yaad nahi tha.” Anamika clarifies while he gazes at her.
“Arey, aap aise kyun dekh rahe hain? Maine Angel ko kuch nahi kaha. Aur na hi maine kuch kiya hai.” Anamika questions.
“Toh ye kya hai?” He pulls out a box from underneath the pillow.
It’s a small box and it contains a watch. She smiles and takes out another similar box from the drawer and shows it to him. He is surprised to see that it was a couple watch, similar to what he purchased for Ruhana when she was pregnant.
“Yeh toh main hum dono ke liye laayi hoon aur ek Ansh ke liye bhi. Isse hume pata rahega Ansh kahan hai aur kaisa hai? Ye koi gift nahi hain.” Anamika explains.
“Toh tumne isey chhupa ke kyun rakha tha?” He asks.
“Yunhi! Main dekhna chahti thi ki aap kya sochte hain! Aur iske baare mein aap kya kahenge. Jaanti hoon, isse aapko Didi ki yaad aayi hogi.” She says as she remembers the incident he told her regarding such watches.
Ruhana was obsessed with watches and she wanted to keep connected with her husband, so she bought the couple watch. A smile graces his lips – Anamika is so thoughtful about his feelings and his love for Ruhana as well. She addresses her as Didi and it fills his heart with more love and respect for her. It’s something he didn’t expect from her, but she did it for him and he’s filled with only gratitude for her.
He just gazes at her and pecks a small kiss on her forehead, taking her by surprise. His further words resonate with her deeply and she ends up hugging him, giving herself into his arms.
To Be Continued.
