My Beloved Pet

I remember when my first pet died

Oh goodness, how I cried

Others just lied

In vain they tried

Nothing stopped my tears

The pain lived for years

My friends thought I was negative

In reality my soul's just sensitive

Eventually dear ones will perish

Show your love, now it's time to cherish

One day they'll vanish

And your heart pain will ravish

Who knows what tomorrow brings

Or the mystery of the tune a loon sings

Everything has a reason

Even reality's treason

Time knows every season

And the life of my pet, 'Sweet Peason'

Nestled safe within a locket . . .
