Dreams for 2016

I dreamed as New Year turned around,

That it would usher hope and splendour,

I dreamed as New Year fireworks cracked.

That humankind would love each other,

But as the bombs came raining down,

And as the rhetoric grew much stronger,

Could we hope for change to come?

Can we all hold out much longer now for peace?

Then hope sprang new within my breast,

How can I change the World for better?

Is there something I can do?

Carry a banner, write a letter?

There's truly something I can do,

And I am sure the same for you now,

I can help the stranger live,

Give to the poor and help my neighbour where I can.

For there is hope for this world of carnage - lost.

If we share others burdens, without regard to cost.
