Trying and Regrets

On a bed, lies an old grandmother

Her kind withered face sunken

Smiling down at the young

Playing a little ways away

Not much further

She thinks how bright the future

For this little young

Plenty of time to succeed and fail

And to try again and again.

On a chair not much further

Sits the young child's father

Glaring at the wall just above

Where she rests her head

He thinks how bleak the future

For him and his old mother

Not enough time to talk about regrets

And more regrets and more regrets.
