ALICE P.O.V

We got in a car and Five started driving, "So what are the other things that are different with your universe?" Five said, breaking the silence.

"Well my universe takes place in the year 2020, and we aren't allowed to frequently leave our homes because of a virus. But I have to leave sometimes though." I said.

'Makes me realize that the Handler was kinda right'

"But other than that it's pretty normal,'' I said as we arrived at Griddy's Donuts and got out of the car. Five opened the door for me even though I could have just passed through the door—but I guess it's what the thought that counts.

Five sat on a stool chair and waited for the waitress, "just wait, she's just unclogging the sink" I said.

While we were waiting, I heard the door ring, indicating that someone came in. The guy sat down and read his newspaper. That was when Agnes came in as she pulled out her notepad and pen.

"Sorry, the sink was clogged, so what'll be?" Agnes said.

'I could really use some coffee right now and that glazed donut'

" Uh, Give me a chocolate éclair" Agnes wrote down his order and turned to Five. "Can I get the kid a glass of milk or something" she said, I snorted at that. Five just rolled his eyes at me, "Kid wants coffee, black" he said.

"Can I get a glazed donut?-" I said as I got the attention of Five.

"You pass through people, I think that goes the same with solid objects-" Five told me as the guy and Agnes just looked at him confused. They probably thought he was talking to his 'imaginary friend'.

I muttered an oh upon realizing that and just laid my head in the counter dejected that I made Five come here early before the commission shows up to maybe eat it but only to find out that I can't even touch food right now.

"Cute kid" Agnes chuckled awkwardly as she broke the silence and then went back to make their order.

"I don't remember this place being such a shithole, I used to come here as a kid," Five said.

'didn't he think that it would make the guy he's talking confused when he said that?'

"Used to sneak in here with my brothers and sisters, and ate donuts till we puked '' he said, he looked back at the guy who was looking confused "Simpler times huh?" he said.

I just facepalmed myself as I was still laying my head on the counter. "He can be a genius, but be so stupid at the same time" I whispered to myself.

Agnes got back with their orders "here" she handed Five his coffee. "I got his" the guy said and paid for Five's coffee "thanks" Five said and took a sip of his coffee.

'What a nice guy, shame he's gonna get tortured later on'

"You must know your way around the city" Five said "sure hope so I've been driving for 20 years" the guy said.

"Good I need an address" I sorta tuned out their conversation and continued to mope that I didn't get to eat a glazed donut.

A couple of minutes later the guy left, "better get ready cause a squat team is about to come here and aim their guns at about-" once I said that, a group of men ran into the shop "now" I finished.

"Okay, let's all be professional about this. On your feet she wants to talk" one of the men said, "I've got nothing to say" Five said, setting his coffee aside.

"It doesn't have to go this way, you think I wanna shoot a kid? And go home with that on my conscience?" He said. "Well wouldn't worry about that" Five said, grabbing the butter knife beside him.

'Oh shit is about to go down'

"You won't be going home" after he said that he blinked away and stabbed the man in front of him. He blinked again when they all started shooting, I just watched the scene play out.

"Hey assholes!" Five yelled lying on the table.

'How does he always look fucking perfect?' 

The men proceeded to try and shoot him, but instead somehow shot me "What the hell?" I said as I stumbled a bit as I looked at my shoulder that started bleeding.

Five just finished beating those guys, finishing it up with snapping a guy's neck. He looked back at me and saw my shoulder bleeding.

"Hey, are you okay?" he said, rushing up to me.

"No no no, it's fine but...how did I manage to get shot?" I said, holding my bleeding shoulder as I winced a bit at it.

"I mean I thought I could phase through anything except you, but a bullet actually went through me" I said, I was starting to feel the pain from my shoulder as I winced while applying pressure on it.

Five grabbed a napkin and handed it to me "Here, maybe solid objects can't phase through to you anymore" I tried to grab the napkin, thinking it might phase through but for some reason it didn't and I placed it on my wound.

"Maybe it was just a side effect of coming here" I said, I started wrapping it around my shoulder to prevent the bleeding. Five was cutting his arm open trying to get rid of the tracker, I looked away and waited for him to finish.

'This is why I preferred to be a chemist rather than a doctor'

"So—er, Vanya's?" I said

"Vanya's" Five confirmed as he blinked us away to Vanya's apartment.
