Chapter 2.4

"Your punches are a bit sluggish—"

"Will you stop pretending to be a wise teacher, it's really not a good look on you-"

Alice said as she threw another punch at Luther as he dodged it and kicked Alice—causing her to land on the ground.

Alice groaned from the impact, it's been a couple of days since Luther's been training her. There were some miscommunication for a couple of training sessions, but Alice eventually got to somewhat understand some of Luther's explanations during training.

"As I said, you should keep an eye on your opponent from all angles—OW!"

Luther groaned as he was about to help Alice stand up from the ground but instead got a kick in the face.

"—and as you said, you shouldn't let your guard down even if you seem to have the upperhand"

Alice said, smirking as she got up from the ground. She walked up to a table nearby and drank some water.

"Do you really have to be sarcastic all the time when you're with me?"

"Luther, I just had a really shitty night—these training sessions are my therapy you could say. And plus I'm still not over the vase incident—"

Alice scoffed as she closed her bottle and grabbed her stuff as their training session was over for the day.

"Same time tomorrow! Don't forget!"

Luther called out as Alice just gave him a simple thumbs up as she walked out the door with her coat on.

______

"I feel like a nurse everytime you come home"

Autumn scolded as she proceeded to put some treatment on Alice's cuts and bruises from her and Luther's training session, as well as some bar fights.

There were some nights where some customers would just push Alice's button and she can't help but give them a black or a bloody nose. Although there were some times where Alice would get involved in reckless fights, she mostly handled troublesome customers who didn't take a hint and caused some trouble.

Even though, reckless fight or not—Autumn would still scold her like a big sister and tell her not to get into lots of fights.

"It's just small cuts Aut' don't worry—Jesus!"

Alice yelped as Autumn suddenly sprayed some alcohol on the injury on her fist.

"That's what you get for worrying me every night"

Autumn said as she aggressively closed the first aid kit and walked away to place it back. Alice sighed, feeling a bit sorry that she's been worrying Autumn every night.

"Okay, I'm sorry—tell you what, I promise not to get into any more fights tomorrow. I'll even be careful when training with Luther"

Alice said, Autumn turned back to her and gave her a 'really?' look. Autumn really was worried about Alice, through the few weeks they've been living together—Alice became a little sister to her and she didn't want her getting hurt every night.

"Fine, I better not see a scratch on you young lady or I'm taking you shopping for my work clothes"

"Please, anything but that—"

"My decision is final, Alice! Not a scratch!"

Autumn said as she went to the bathroom and closed the door behind her. Alice sighed, knowing that she won't have a choice in the matter anyway.

Walking up to the only window in the room, she leaned on it as she stared at a certain alley she's all too familiar with.

She would always visit the alley everyday, in case Five came back—she wouldn't admit it but she missed him. Wondering if maybe he would come back early, but Alice knows that she'll have to wait for a couple of more days for that to happen.

"Lights out Alice-"

Autumn said as she walked out of the bathroom, Alice nodded and got ready for bed as she laid down on the mattress on the floor that she slept in and let sleep engulf her.

______

"You seem to be very cautious today, you've been dodging my hits with the occasional punches and kicks"

Luther said as he threw another punch at Alice while she tried to make sure that she dodged it.

"I made a bet with Autumn you can say—"

Trying to land a kick, she turned and did a back kick on Luther—which she successfully landed. This made her feel proud but the proud smile on her face quickly faded away as she tried to remain focused.

Yeah, there was no way she could handle another shopping spree with Autumn after the bikini incident. Being slapped in the face was not a very pleasing experience for Alice.

A clock suddenly rang and that indicated that it was time for work.

"Your getting better, just keep it up and maybe Mr Ruby would get you to fight in the ring"

Luther joked as Alice playfully rolled her eyes at the thought, as if she would want to be under the pressure of winning a boxing match for Mr Ruby. Yeah, she would rather be alive until Five gets here.

Putting on her uniform and dusting it off a bit, she walked into the club as she tied her hair to get her bangs out of her face.

"Hello Aut'"

Alice greeted as she went on her post in the bar and started making drinks like usual as she spotted Autumn serving drinks.

"Remember Alastor, not a scratch—ya got that?"

"Yes mom"

Alice said jokingly as she handed to her the drinks. Autumn gave her the 'I'm watching you stare' as she went back to serving customers.

"Your girl really likes her boyfriend clean huh?"

Alice internally groaned as she mixed and poured drinks. Steve has been on her back, asking about Autumn, if her and Autumn were a couple. Alice thought that Steve was just pretending to be cool for Autumn when in reality he's just a huge dork.

"For the last time Steve, Autumn isn't my girlfriend"

Alice said as she gave him a 'please fuck off' smile and placed the drinks she made on the bar table.

"So, can you ask her out for me then?"

"No, do it yourself"

Alice said, flickering Steve's forehead as she laughed a bit at the sight of him sulking. She looked up at the time, only a few minutes away before her shift ends.

"Come on, just go home with me and I'll show you a great time—"

Upon hearing this sound from a couple of tables away, Alice narrowed her eyes on the drunken man as she tried to touch what seemed to be like a newbie waitress. The waitress tried to wriggle her way out of the man's hands.

But it proved to be quite difficult when the drunken man seemed to be stubborn as hell.

"I'm sorry sir but I can't quite do that-"

"Just come here—"

As the man was going to hit the girl, Alice managed to come in just in time to grab the man's wrist. She kicked the guy in the shin as he groaned in pain—while he groaned, Alice twisted his arm that was in her hand and pinned him to an empty table so that no breaking of glass would disrupt the other customers.

"I suggest you leave if you still want to use your wrist"

Alice said calmly, the man sighed out in disappointment and Alice let him go as he walked out the club before giving Alice a threatening glare.

"You alright?"

Alice asked the slightly shaken up girl in front of her, the girl simply nodded—muttering a quick thanks before heading out with her head down. Alice thought that was weird but gave her the benefit of the doubt.

"That girl so has a crush on you"

Steve said as Alice went back to her station and went back to making drinks. He watched the whole scene play out as he was cleaning out glasses.

"Who does?"

"Al' literally most of the girls you save from perverts end up having a crush on you. I might just grow out my hair like yours to maybe get the number of girls who have a crush on you."

Alice didn't really notice that the girls in the club had crushes on her, that explains why Autumn would be laughing her ass off whenever some of the girl employees bid Alice goodbye when getting off of work.

It's not like Alice didn't like girls, she had a very massive crush on Winona Ryder mind you. Let's just say that watching Wiona Ryder play as Veronica in Heathers awoke something inside little 14 year old Alice.

"Well that's sweet and all but, I already have someone in mind who I like—"

"Wait you for real? What is she like?"

"A gentleman never reveals his secrets Steve, plus I'm getting off in 3,2, aaaandd—"

The clock strikes 3:30, and that was Alice's cue to get off for the night. She bid Steve goodbye and goodluck as she glanced at the chaos that was table 4.

She walked out the doors of the club and walked about the nightly streets. It was supposed to be a peaceful way home but that was until she got ganged up by a bunch of guys who looked like they were some sort of goons.

"My boss tells us you gave him a hard time back there"

"And he was generous enough to let us handle you"

Some of the guys said as they cornered Alice into an alleyway nearby. Alice internally groaned as she just wanted to have a peaceful walk to the shared apartment she lived in and eat some heated food.

"Putangina.......i'll try to do this real quick.."

Despite thinking that, she unfortunately did not do it real quick.

______

"Hey....Autumn.."

Their shared apartment door creaked open and Autumn's face turned into a half disappointed and half very worried one as a somewhat bloodied up Alice walked into the room.

"Jesus! Alice what have you gotten yourself into!—"

Autumn said as she led Alice to sit down on the small couch they had in the middle of the room.

"Just—accidentally got involved with...some guy.."

Alice said as she winced between words while Autumn went ahead and grabbed some medical supplies to treat Alice.

When Autumn came back she gave Alice a very disappointed stare as she somewhat aggressively treated her.

"I'm guessing this means that I have to go with you to that shopping spree?"

"Yes, and your paying as well"

Alice chuckled slightly as the added request but obliged to it nonetheless

"Fine..."
