The Beginning
(Hello Reader! I hope you enjoy! Mitsuki will be thinking like this. This is me talking to you (this). You may continue reading!)
I dreaded through the streets with a cold and fever, and I sneezed loudly from the pouring rain and slid down a wall, and sighed, closing my eyes. How have I lived for these last year's without anyone to help me...? I think I've reached my limit, at least I think so... I'm just about to give up... That's when I heard footsteps and I opened my eyes alarmed, quickly getting up, and hid behind a dumpster, and sneezed, cursing silently to myself. I held my breath as the footsteps became louder and louder by the second, and then I saw a small kid with two adults, and I shook slightly, and closed my eyes, and sneezed.
"Oh no, you seem to have a cold. Dai, can we bring her in, she needs some treatment." The women asked, and who I supposed was Dai, replied, "Seiko, she's sick, and she's on the streets, we don't even know if she has ever been around humans like us, maybe she's vicious..." Seiko pouted and said, "Well, we have to give her a chance, she seems to be starving and she's sick, Dai! Please?" Dai stayed quiet for a few long moments, shifting his umbrella here and there, and then eventually sighed, and nodded. The boy with black hair and blackish gray eyes looked at me with curiosity, but he seemed a bit shy.
The man picked me up, and my eyes widened and I whimpered slightly, and stuttered, since I last have gotten into a fight with someone, "S-Sir, I-I'm sorry i-if I'm disrupting a-anything..." I've always had a large vocabulary, since I was able to observe the world, and I listen to people's conversations, and I try to talk when fights happen, but I have to defend myself for food and shelter, so I had a fight with some taller and older people, and got beaten. He shook his head and said, "Not at all, and also, call me Dai, ok? You're very light, that isn't good for a girl like you." He looked concerned, and he placed me on his hip, and I was carried like a five year old would, even if I was six years old.
I looked down at the boy, and he was still looking at me with curiosity, and I sneezed away from the man's face, and he chuckled, and they kept walking, stopping in front of a large house, no mansion, doorsteps. I gazed up at it, my head looking up as I did so, and stuttered, "Y-You live h-here...?" They all nodded and walked inside, a butler taking everyone's coats and he looked at me with a raised eyebrow, and I was placed onto the floor, and I followed after them, then I heard the boy speak, "So, how many fights have you gotten into? You must've got into a lot of them if you walk funny now." I sighed and nodded slightly, saying, "I can't count yet, but I know I've been in more than a dozen fights, because I got about one or two bruises and maybe a scar when I got into a fight." I sighed, and my tattered clothing showed some bruises and scars that were there, old and new.
"You must be pretty strong to be able to just walk when you were out there; and brave too!" He said, and then I spoke, "It's n-not called a-about being brave, i-it's called trying to s-survive. If you c-can't fight, you certainly c-cannot s-survive." "Well, I haven't told you my name yet, but my name's Takashi." I nodded and saw another boy and he looked at me with a bit of curiosity, but walked away. "W-Who's he? I-Is he related to y-you?"
"He's Satoshi, my older brother. He's the heir of the family, so he's always been serious...so, want me to bring you to a guest room? Might help you out if you sleep." I nodded and he grabbed my hand softly, bringing me to a room that was painted a soft pastel blue, and it had white sheets and a fluffy white blanket, and two baby blue pillows with an oak wood dresser, and a walk-in closet. I gazed around the room, and let go of his hand, using my other arm to cover my sneeze to try and not to get him infected. "Are you ok? That seemed like it hurt. Here, I'll get you a cup of water, and my mom can help you later." He left the room, and his mother came in and she smiled down at me and said, "For now, you can borrow Takashi's clothes until we get you some of your own clothes. Do you like wearing dresses? It wouldn't seem like it, considering what you're wearing is a pair of boy shorts with a boy's tank top." I rubbed the back of my head, and said quietly, still stuttering, "U-Um, not really, M-Miss... I-I actually tried t-to wear one, b-but I wasn't a-able to move f-freely in skirts a-and dresses..."
Seiko smiled and chuckled, saying, "It's ok, darling. I can bring you clothes shopping, but what are we going to do about your hair? We probably need to cut it off...well, I'll help you get dressed into these clothes, and you can go to sleep." I nodded, and Takashi came in with the cup of water and when he saw the clothes, he nodded slightly, and left the room. That night, I was changed and I went to bed after the cup of water I was given, and went into a deep slumber, wondering this one question, and this one question only, Why did they bring me in, and why do they care so much?
(Time-Skip To The Next Morning)
I sat up from the bed, my fever gone, but my cold was still there, and I sneezed quietly, and looked around, seeing a clock that was pointing at a infinity loop that was turned onto its feet and another stick was pointing in between a weird looking 'S', and an open lock that wasn't upside down, like the other one that looked like an opened lock. (It's 8:25 am, she can't tell people.) I got out of the bed, and felt dizzy for a moment, then looked around my surroundings when I finally got my grip on the floor, instead of tripping over my own two feet. I busy footsteps, and I went to the door, and opened it, seeing girls in dresses and men in suits walking to and fro, and I tilted my head, confused, and went outside, tugging on one of the women's dress. "E-Excuse me, u-um...w-where's the restroom...?" Even though I did live on the streets, I always managed to find a porta potty, or a gas station that had a restroom, since I didn't want anybody to see me do my business.
The women smiled kindly and said, "You're the new girl that the mistress and master were talking about, aren't you? Well, the bathroom is this way, follow me." She grabbed my hand softly and brought me to the restroom, and I thanked her, and walked into the massive bathroom, and closed the door. I sighed and came out after going to the restroom, and then started to explore the place, still walking my funny walk, that's what Takashi said at least, but I knew it was a limp, since I managed to teach myself how to read a medical book that I found. I looked around, and seemed to wander into a kitchen, at least I think it is, since I see pots and pans all over the place. I watched as the people in the kitchen were hustling about, tossing things into big pots, and frying things with a pan.
I hummed, and watched, then left the room, and discovered a room that had a lot of brushes and the labels on the cans saying 'Paint'. I saw blank cardboard stacked around the room, seeing white tarps were on the ground, splattered with different colors, and the walls were a pastel yellow, and the window's curtains were drawn back to where there was rays of sunlight were illuminating the room. I never smiled, since it was broken when I was out on the streets, so all I could do was hum in approval, and I walked up to a blank canvas, and studied the utensils, that I couldn't really name all of them, that was before me. I grabbed a skinny brush, and gathered up some paint, and put on an oversized apron, and started painting some Sakura Trees in the night sky with the moon illuminating them, since I always see them in the Spring when I go to the park alone at night. I had different shades of pink, and different shades of brown before me, and I had a small pail of colored water close by, and I soon finished.
I heard Seiko's voice nearby, and I got up with my painting, and walked out of the room, and saw Seiko walking around quickly, and then saw me, and sighed in relief, walking up to me. "L-Look, I p-painted something." I tried to smile, but all I showed was just a happy expression, no smile. She blinked a bit, and looked at the painting, and didn't touch, seeing that it was still wet, and smiled, saying, "You painted this? It looks beautiful! Especially the moon...it seems so life like!" Seiko put the painting in the sun to dry in the art room, and hugged me, and I froze by the sudden action, wincing slightly.
"Do you have a name?" I blinked and she pulled away from me, and I repeated the unfamiliar word, "Have a n-name...? I-I don't have a n-name..." She smiled sadly, and said, "Well, from now on, I'm going to call you Mitsuki, and you know what your name means?" I shook my head, and she said, "Your name means 'Beautiful Moon', and I think it suits you." I blinked, and nodded my head, and heard Takashi's voice, "Mommy! Daddy asked for me to get you!"
Seiko smiled and nodded, saying, "Takashi, she now has a name, it's Mitsuki, you two get along while I talk to your father, Takashi." She got up from her crouched position, and walked away, and Takashi nodded, saying, "Doesn't your name mean 'Beautiful Moon'...? I guess your fascinated with the moon, yes?" I rubbed the back of my head and started walking away, nodding slightly. I remember the last person I've befriended stabbed me in the back, so I wasn't going to take any chances, yet. Takashi followed me, and I heard a bell ring, and Takashi said, "That must be Mitsukuni, I want you to meet him!"
He took my hand in his, and I followed him to the front, and Takashi said, "Mitsukuni, meet Mitsuki, we found her!" I looked from behind Takashi and saw a blonde haired, honey eyed boy that had a huge smile on his face, holding a pink bunny. "Hey, Mit-chan! I'm Honey, or Mitsukuni!" I blinked and furrowed my eyebrows, and stuttered, "M-Mit-chan...? T-That's not my n-name..." (THAT'S NOT MY NAME, THAT'S NOT MY NAME! XD) Minskini said, "Of course it is, Mit-chan! Now, let's go play!"
I shook my head, grimacing slightly from the word 'play', and said, "I-I'd rather n-not...I want t-to go d-draw..." Takashi frowned slightly, and nodded in understanding, and I walked away, going back to the art room, only walking into the wrong room, and finding a room full of different instruments. I blinked, and walked up to a piano, and pressed a key, and clambered up onto the seat. I started pressing random keys, but it sounded pretty good just for random notes. I went to the lower part of the instrument, and blinked when I heard the low note, and I giggled softly, not used to the laughing, and pressed it again.
I started playing the paper that was in front of me, and actually played it pretty well, considering that the piano's keys were labeled and so was the sheet of music. I wasn't aware anyone was in the room, so when I heard clapping, I turned around, startled, and saw Takashi and Minskini. Minskini was the first to talk, saying, "That was amazing, Mit-chan! Where did you learn to play piano?!" I blinked and said, "R-Right now..." Takashi seemed to have a faint smile on his face, and I looked down, and blushed a furious red, and that's how this whole friendship began, and many memories was to become of me, which I wasn't aware of, and soon, I had two best friends, and I didn't stutter as much as I used to around them, but I still stutter, and Seiko bought me some boy's clothing. Now, I was fine being without other friends, all I needed was Takashi and Minskini, but fate decided it was time to crack me out of my shell. And this is how this whole crazy, new, high school life began.
A disaster.
