Three
First Year,
That Malfoy's a Real Jerk
His mother's letter had giving him some comfort and the girl he had met Aurora, she was nice. And for whatever reason she didn't seem too thrilled about being Slytherin either. He had to pull her away from Malfoy last night, after they almost broke out into an argument regarding blood status.
That was argument he never wanted to have with a Malfoy. 'Just ignore him, he'll only taunt you more' that's what he'd told her. He knew Draco enough to never bother getting into a disagreement with him, it wasn't worth the hassle.
He waited for Aurora to come out of her room, she walked into the common room seemingly ready for the day. They left their dormitory together, she hurried to an older girl, greeting her with a hug. 'Maybe it was a cousin or sister' she waved him over to them.
"This is Hadrian, we talked throughout the night mostly,"
"I already sort of know you don't I?" he asked, recognising the girl as his Cousin Ethan's friend, she smiled at him.
"That Malfoy's a real jerk, he so full of himself," she said, he nodded agreeing with her.
"Well if you know anything about his family it isn't surprising," the girl said, he couldn't say she was a liar, the Malfoy were self-entitled always having an arrogant presence around them.
The girl hugged Aurora before heading off to her class, which was also where they needed to be. Thankfully, it didn't take them long to find their classroom, he planned to sit with Carden though it appeared that neither he, Harry or Ron had found the class yet.
He settled in a seat next to another boy, who glared at Draco and another boy. Mutter insults under his breath, he would have sat with Aurora though she sat with a Ravenclaw girl. Professor McGonagall morphed into a cat sitting on her desk watching over the students.
"We made, can you imagine the look on McGonagall's face if we were late," Ron said, unaware of her animagus form.
"Actually Ron, she's a-," Carden tried to tell him, as the cat changed into McGonagall
"That was bloody brilliant,"
"Well, thank you for that assessment Mr. Weasley, perhap it would be more if I were to transfigure Mr. Potter or Mr Black into a pocket watch that way one of you might be on time,"
"We got lost," Harry said,
"Well, perhaps a map, I trust you don't need one to find your seats," Hadrian refrained from laughing as Carden stuck his tongue out at him.
"He's your brother right?" the boy next to him spoke, he nodded, "shame you aren't together, I don't have siblings but I imagine it wouldn't be nice to be apart from you twin,"
"Thanks, it's not so bad, just not expected," he said, smiling at him, "I'm Hadrian," he held out his hand to the boy.
"Blaise," he shook his hand, Aurora leaned over passing him a note.
'Do you want to come to the lake with me?'
He turned around nodding lightly smiling at her. She was a nice girl, he could see himself being really good friends with her. After the class ended he smiled at his Phoebe she had come to see him, she smiled softly at him.
"Hi, Pheebs,"
"Hey, did you sleep well?" she asked,
"I didn't think I would, but mum wrote me a letter and I felt a bit better, she knew I'd been in Slytherin, and to some extent, I think you did too," he smiled knowing he caught her off guard.
"What makes you think that?"
"Out of our two cousins, and three siblings, you were the only that didn't seem surprised," he pointed out and it wasn't a lie, Rhea and Carden both seemed shocked as did Ethan and Laura.
"Well, I might have seen something," he nodded, "I would've told you, but grammy always said, sometimes telling someone can be the reason it happens,"
"I'm not mad, the common room is just like mum said it was, it might be dark but there is a warm feeling to it,"
"Well, that's good then, I'll see you later," he nodded, hugging her.
"Thank you, Pheebs,"
"Love you," she ruffled his hair as he ran away to join Aurora and her cousin. Who quickly hurried them away, when he looked behind them, one of Malfoy's friends was struggling to pull his robe over her head.
As he walked towards Aurora, ready to go to the lake, her cousin hurried them away. As he turned to glance at the commotion, Draco's friend, tried to pry his robe from over his head he struggled to get his robes straightened, he laughed as the little jinx reminded him of something Carden would do.
"Did you do that?" he asked, Aurora's cousin nodded. "That's pretty funny," he offered his hand to her, "Hadrian,"
"Katherine," she said shaking his hand.
Their little trip to the lake turned out to be more fun than he first thought. Her cousin was quite funny when she warmed up to him. The two girls were fun to be around, more fun than he imagined they would be.
He could see him and Aurora being really good friends, he had a feeling she'd need him if she wanted to get under Draco Malfoy's skin. She also needed him to steer her away from the many arguments Malfoy could cause, she had already expressed her opinion of him, and that was after one interaction.
