Nova 01ㄖ The Birth of Her Soul
A man with his eyeglasses was tirelessly working on some data encoding for several hours. Except for the guard and two of his colleagues, he was one of the remaining employees who worked that day to have an overtime.
Only with a stack of papers, a computer and an endless cup of coffee are the things that was his only aid at the entire stretch of the time. He didn't bother to be left out in the office, knowing that he was working in a program that he was dreaming of to be created by his own hands.
He dedicated a long time to construct it's components, countless cash and reaping from everyone elses that fuels his desire to create his most precious masterpiece that had once been sunk in the depths of the human logic; to create a program that resembles human features, a virtual humanoid that was pieced together by series of pixels and binaries. An ambitious project that could possibly break the rules of improbability. A journey that he happily accepted to trek along with a handful of his supportive friends.

He was typing the entire code block for several months; all of it was done with numerous overtimes and in different places that he could possibly compile it. He started the code at the mountains during his family vacation last summer. Then at the train leading to the main city of Gaseumida when he was assigned to meet with the company's branch manager there and even at his office - just like he was doing at the moment - adding bit by bit of words, tags and phrases after his paperworks had been taken care off.
He was happy to continue at the path even though each and everyone else had thought that what he was doing was like a complete blind walk to the unknown.
He adjusted his eyeglasses and made a quick sip of his coffee then resumed typing the codes of it's creation.
Several minutes later, a guard had entered the institutional white wooden door of the dim lighted office, making her midnight roundup and patrol at the company's infrastructure. She saw the man and approached slowly at his desk carrying a metal flashlight and a two way radio at her hands.
"Sir Strauss?" the guard said, looking at him from behind. "Still not done at that?"
"Yeah." he replied. "But... I won't stop until I finished this program. It is the fruit of all my years of hardwork and dedication as a programmer. I can't fail her."
"Her?" she asked, looking at the monitor of the computer. "Who's 'her'?"
"My program. This program I'm trying to complete. It's her."
"It is surprising to a program to have a gender." she said, scanning the hollow cubicles at her place while hovering the light on each of the worktables. "Your program is a girl?"
"Yes. She is a girl." he replied in exhaustion, spinning his head slowly back and forth, removing the stiffness on his neck.
The guard walks further in, checking some parts of the office that didn't reached the light of the torch she had. "Looks like you're pushing yourself too much at that."
He disagreed. "It's almost complete. All I have to do is to compile this code into a program and presto! It will take care of itself - I mean herself. "
"Well... If 'her' could take care of herself, why won't you continue that tomorrow and have a rest for the night. Sir Eizen and Miss Sushmita had already went home. You're the only one left here."
"Just a little more time... Miss Synca.. A little.. more.." then his voice faded as he pressed the last keys that will finish the entire program.
Synca shrugged. "Okay. If that's the case then..."
As Strauss had pressed the 'Save' button, a series of prompt appeared.
---
...
"Welcome to Program Compilation Setup! Please choose action: " the system prompted.
...
-----
He pressed 'Compile as .EXE'.
Then the system had started to piece together the data he had done. The progress of the compilation was seen on the monitor at the aid of a long rectangular bar that was placed at the bottom of a caption box that shows the data being compiled.

Strauss sighed in both relief and anxiety. "At last, she will be created. After all the hardship I poured at her. All the time that I'd dedicated at her just to put her to reality, tonight, it'll be fulfilled."
"Looks like 'she' is done." Synca guessed while looking at the monitor.
"Not yet. She'll need to undergo several file merging and system checks before we could say that she was completed." he explained, standing from his office chair, looking at the door, grabbing his coat that was clinged at the chair .
"Are you leaving now Mister Strauss?" the guard asked, grabbing her radio.
"I'm done for tonight. I known that she will be alright if I leave her here for now." he said, walking away from the computer. "At last.."
Strauss stopped at the doorstep like he was thinking of something related to his program.
"Would you leave the computer open?"
"Yeah."
"Come in breaker." The person on the radio asked. "Status report in Bravo...."
The guard held her radio close to her face. "Synca. Status report in Bravo, ten four. Ten four. Our Echo is leaving now. Mister Strauss.. Last out." then she let a small smile. "Baka! Your turn. Report!" then she put down the radio and talked to Mister Strauss. "Sir you're the last out."
"Are you gonna stay here?"
"Not for long Sir. I'll make a last roundup inspection before I leave." she replied.
"Okay then." Strauss shrugged. "I'll go then. Good night Miss Synca."
Before he could made a single step, the guard asked her something. "Sir.."
"Yes?"
"Did she has a name already?"
He lulled. "Didn't pick a name yet. I will think about that tomorrow when I return here." then he looks back at the guard. "Why would you ask Miss Synca?"
"Uh..." collecting her words, "I just wanna know Sir the name. Sir.."
He smiled. "Okay. So.. I'll go now. See you tomorrow." then he walks away.
After the roundup, the guard had switched off all the lights at the office, leaving the brightness of the programmer's computer screen shone alone at the empty cold room.
Subject to their protocol as a guard, a checklist of what must be the standard operating procedures in clearing an area, one of it states that before completely leaving the premises, all electrical devices must be turned off. Synca already knew that she can't just shut down Strauss' computer, but she can't also leave the device open for the entire night, or else she will be served a report.
She moved to the computer to check the progress of the compilation.

The guard just sighed when she saw that the progress was barely moved. She just decided to turned off the monitor and post a paper in front of the monitor labeled : "Do not Touch! Out of Order."
"There. Problem solved!" she satisfactorily said with a small smile.
After it was taken care of, she said goodbye to the program and shut the door closed, calling it a night, retuning at her station at the entrance of the establishment.
