At the start of the conflict, which later would evolve into The Great War, a pair of disturbing events occurred. One by each side. What exactly was the crime? Simple, the kidnapping of the enemy's heirs. 

Veronica had managed to break into the Sky Army with Herobrine. Their entire task was to find something to use as leverage against them. That leverage ended up being the kids that would take over as commander and the generals. All of the kids except the youngest, which had snuck out to be little adventurers.

However, the Sky Army Commander and his top general had a very similar idea that very night. They had managed to locate the main residence of the dark forces and took a majority of the kids, only leaving a few after the Wither woke up.

The fall out of this was the escalation that brought it to a war, and when neither gave in, not trusting the other, the kids were no longer used for leverage, but now being trained/brainwashed to be like the place they were in. And the rules were very different.

The kids have grown up. For the Sky Army, the remaining kids have taken charge, now running the show. The ones taken from the dark forces were brought into the system peacefully, usually preferring to show allegiance to one leader mainly.
