Chapter 31

** REBEL SIMMONS POV **

"I still can't get over how badass you are." Isa said as she sipped on her milkshake.

"Agreed." Natalia added as she clapped her hands in excitement.

After we left the garage, Angelo and the twins were complaining that they were famished. So I let Angelo drive my new Audi R8 while I drove the twins to one of their favorite restaurants. Surprisingly, it was an American restaurant. It was small and empty, and seeing that we were the only patrons inside, we chose the largest table they had. The twins and Angelo were on one side, while I sat alone on the other side of the metal table.

"I still can't believe you're the second best racer in Italy." Angelo said as he shoved fries into his mouth.

"Guess I'll just have to beat Dante next." I said confidently as I took a bite of my burger.

"In your dreams." A familiar deep voice spoke. We turned around to see Dante standing at the door, his eyebrow raised as he stared directly at me. He walked towards our table and pushed me aside with his hip, sitting down next to me. He took one of my fries and threw it into his mouth.

"That would be an awesome race." Angelo exclaimed with excitement in his words.

"A race that would never happen." Dante scoffed as he grabbed another fry from my tray.

"Why, scared you'd lose?" I asked as I smacked his hand before he could eat another one of my fries.

"Rude." He mumbled as he stared at the fry on the floor, then back at me.

"She's a nobody" I said as I mimicked his accent, making everyone at the table hold back their laughter as he rolled his eyes.

"I wouldn't want to race you because it wouldn't be very gentlemanlike of me to kick your ass on the track." He said grabbing another fry and smirked victoriously as he put it in his mouth before I could stop him.

"You? Being a gentleman?" I scoffed. "That would be a sight to see!" I laughed as the twins silently giggled.

"Yeah brother, you're a dick to everyone." Angelo laughed.

"No. I am not." He said in a deadly tone as he stared at Angelo.

The server walked over to our table. She eyed Dante up and down as her cheeks flushed crimson.

"Hi sir. What can I get for you handsome?" She said in a seductive tone.

"Cheeseburger. Medium rare. Pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, ketchup, mustard, and grilled onions. Side of fries." He said in a commanding tone. The server looked like she was mesmerized for a moment as she stared at him.

"Now." Dante said as he shooed away the flustered server. She quickly scurried back into the kitchen.

"Our points proven." I said before I took another bite of my burger.

"I have no idea what you are referring to. I was just giving my order." He scoffed defensively as he grabbed my Neapolitan milkshake.

"More like commanding your order." I said as I elbowed him in an attempt to grab it, but he extended his long arm, effectively taking it out of my reach as he took a sip.

"It's called effective communication." Dante smirked as he took another sip of my shake.

"Mhm Neapolitan, my favorite." He said amused as I attempted to grab my shake back from him. I was practically sprawled out across him trying to reach it. The twins and Angelo were laughing at the bizarre scene in front of them.

"Dante, wait for your own fucking food." I said angrily as I got on my knees and reached over his body further.

"But, this is food, no?" He said innocently as he tilted his head to the side. A smile was wide on his face as he looked at me in amusement.

"Yeah, my fucking food." I said as I glared at him. We were close, a bit too close. His masculine scent hit me like a train as his minty breath caressed my senses.

"Alright alright. Calm down." He said as he discretely grabbed dangerously high up on my inner thigh and pushed me back down onto the seat. I took a deep breath to control the blush that was threatening to creep up on my cheeks.

"There, happy?" He said as he smirked at me and handed me my milkshake. His hand still rested on my thigh.

"Very." I said as I took the straw in my mouth.

"See I can be nice." Dante said, looking at his amused siblings. I went to take a sip of my shake only to find it empty. The twins and Angelo burst out in laughter when they heard the sound of my straw sucking in air.

"You're a sick, cruel, bastard, Dante." I said evilly as I tossed the empty cup on the table and glared at him. He looked at me with a smirk and squeezed my thigh. His hand slowly made its way up my thigh, and his thumb gently grazed my now aching core.

The twins and Angelo were now consumed in their own conversation, taking their attention away from Dante and I.

"You still owe me a shake." I said, trying to keep my voice as even as possible. He inches closer to my face so his lips were touching my ear.

"I think I know a way I can make it up to you." He smirked as his hand started to rub harder on my soaking wet core.

I closed my eyes, embracing his touch, when the sounds of gunshots echoed throughout the restaurant.

In a blink of an eye, Dante flipped over the table. Angelo, Natalia, Isa rapidly fell to the floor and got behind the makeshift cover. Dante grabbed my arm and pulled me down and behind the table. His arms held me close to his body tightly shielding me as bullets pierced the table. I closed my eyes and listened to my surrounds. It sounded like 8 pairs of footsteps, and from the sound of the guns and speed of the bullets, they most likely had AK-47s. I grabbed the metal napkin holder from the ground and angled it to get a better view. There were 3 to the right and the left of us, and two in the center. I had a clear view of the men in the center. Their necks were covered with Russian tattoos, similar designs to the ones Skinkoli had. I jumped as a bullet shattered the holder in my hands.

"You know how to use a gun?" Angelo yelled over the hailing bullets as he held out a gun towards me. I nodded quickly and shakily took the cold metal into my hands. Dante, Angelo, and the twins all took out handguns and quickly loaded them.

"There's 8 of them, all male. 3 to the right, and 3 to the left. Two in the center. They all have AKs. They should be running out of ammo in roughly... 13 seconds." I spoke as the bullets continued to fly by us. "They have extra ammunition on their backs and waists, so it'll only take them a few seconds to reload." I said quickly. They all looked at me and nodded.

"Rebel, just stay close to me." Dante whispered in a calming tone as he wrapped his hand around mine. He loaded in a full clip of bullets and slammed in into the gun that I held in my hands. "I won't let anything happen to you." He said as he looked me in the eyes and kissed me softly on the forehead.

"On my count." Dante said calmly as he looked at his siblings, who nodded in understanding. They all looked poised and calm, awaiting the orders to strike. I've never seen them in action before. The twins playful demeanor now deadly, and Angelos child like attitude was  now replaced with one of a professional killer. Dante on the other hand seemed calmer than the rest, yet his expression was hard. Dante waited a few moments, before the sounds of bullets halted.

"Now." Dante ordered as he kicked the table, clearing the view. His arm was over my shoulders as he continued to hold onto me tightly. He shot the three on the right with deadly precision, each shot hitting them between the eyes. I glanced to my left and saw that the twins and Angelo killed the three assailants to the left.

As Dante was about to shoot one of the men in the middle, my eyes widened in fear as I saw another attacker in the corner of the room, his AK aimed at Dante. Without a second thought, I turned into Dante and raised my gun by his side.

Bullets started to fly as we were standing chest to chest, our right arms raised as we aimed our weapons while his left arm wrapped around my waist protectively. I looked past his shoulder and I pulled the trigger multiple times, hitting the assailant multiple times in the chest before he dropped to the floor. Dante's gun fired, and I heard another body hit the floor. The room fell deathly silent.

I stood there for a moment, my arm still raised and the now warm mental wrapped around my fingers, staring at the blood painted walls. Numbness and adrenaline flowed through my veins as a pair of muscular arms engulfed me into a tight embrace.

"Rebel. It's fine. It's over." Dante whispered softly as his calloused hands covered mine and he lowered my gun down as he glanced at the man I shot. "It's okay. You're okay." He said as he took the gun from my hand gently and wrapped his arms around me.

"Everything's fine. You're fine." He cooed in my ear as his hand stroked my hair in an attempt to comfort me.

"Dante..." Angelo started to say as he walked over.

"She's in shock. Give her some space." Dante growled at his younger brother while his arms tightened around me.

"Brother, she-" Natalia said softly as she stared at us with wide eyes.

"She'll be fine." Dante growled sternly as he continued to stroke my hair. My petite body fit so well with his, my head perfectly fitting underneath his chin. I closed my eyes, and took in his masculine scent.

"She got shot! Idiota! She's been shot!" Isa yelled as she pointed to my arm with her gun still wrapped in her fingers. I glanced over to my arm to see that I was bleeding profusely, the blood soaking my arm and dripping off my fingers. Dante pulled me away and examined me, a worried expression on etched on his face.

"Fuck." He exclaimed as he saw my arm. He put his hands in the back pocket of my jeans and quickly pulled out my car key. He tossed them to Isa, who caught them effortlessly.

"If she crashes my car, I'm gonna kill you." I said staring at Dante. He shook his head before lifting me up bridal style and carrying me out of the restaurant, stepping over dead bodies in the process.

"I got shot in the arm, not the leg. I can still walk you know." I said as I looked up at Dante.

"Wasn't it you who was saying that I should be nicer? Well this is my attempt at being nice, so shut the hell up." He said as he opened the car door and gently placed me inside.

"You're off to a wonderful start Mr. Vino." I said rolling my eyes.

"You never cease to amazing me. Even when you get shot, your incredible little attitude still makes its appearance." He said sarcastically as he buckled me in like a child. I began to feel the effects of blood loss as my head began to spin and delirium started to seep into my mind.  He got into the passenger side and started the car.

"You love it." I said as I closed my eyes.

"...than....know." He mumbled in a barely audible whisper. It was so quiet, I couldn't even make out what he said. The last thing I heard was the roar of the engine before my world faded into black.
