Y'all ever wondered who were the corrupted voices calling out to Deku in ch#1?
~O~
"COME OUT!!"
The area where his scarred hand rested began to glow a unique shade of viridian green.
His eyes widened as it appeared in front of him, taking place of his reflection.
It smirked.
Now standing as his reflection on the ice wall, the voice took it's proper form. Once a desire and now a fear; Izuku's alter ego. A different him that had long turned to the wrong path. A part of him that wished to be tainted in darkness and take revenge on those who mistreated him in the worst possible way.
That thing was made of pure hatred, thirst for revenge, misdirection, malevolence and maliciousness. It was his dark side.
It replicated the same image of the green head, except there was burning mischief hidden in his emerald eyes. It raised an eyebrow in a cocky way while the smirk never left it's face.
"My, my... And to think you were already enough naïve."
That voice was no longer a far whisper that somehow reached Izuku's ear. It was straight up atrocious and wicked.
It was here. Right in front of him. In his sight. And it somehow felt... Dangerous. A little too dangerous.
So dangerous, if it were to be released in the real world, Izuku knew what enormous level of destruction and despair it would cause.
The green haired boy sure did ask for it to come out of wherever it was hiding and he knew damn well that he didn't stood a chance against it as long as it was controlling his mindscape. But whatever happens, Izuku could not let that thing take over his conscience or his body.
He would fight and go as far as he could to keep that thing locked away from the world.
Even if he had to kill himself to stop it, he would.
So, standing a little back from it, Izuku tried to stop his shaky breaths to show that he wasn't scared from that thing, that he had what it took to face it. With determination shining in his emerald green eyes, he looked at it as his eyebrows furrowed in an attempt to look threatening.
"So, you've finally decided to show yourself, huh?" Izuku asked rhetorically, his tone was colder than usual as if he was trying to hide his emotions towards that thing.
It chuckled, "You're shivering in your boots, Izuku... Do you really think it was a good idea to face me head on? Hm?"
Izuku gulped before replying, "I knew it was a bad idea the moment you entered my mind years ago."
It shook his head sideways, a sly smile dancing on it's face as it looked at the green haired boy with a pitiful expression, "Now, now... You shouldn't talk like that, Izu~ You know that you want me, don't you~? You know you want to see others suffer, right? You need it... It's your — no, it's our drug. We both want it—!"
"Shut up!!" Izuku yelled, cutting it off.
"You don't get to tell me what I want. And as for what you want, I couldn't care less. My life isn't the same as before. I'm not the same as before. People change. Time changes. Everything takes a good turn. And so did my life. You are nothing. Just an idea based on a pointless thought on a bad day. You can't get to me now. I won't let you." Izuku said as his hands curled up into fists on his side.
But, unfortunately, words wouldn't effect that thing.
"Oh really~?" It's smirk grew wider, "Do you even know what you just said? You're words are supporting me, you know~ No matter what happens, nothing will change the fact that I was and still am lingering in your mind. People change, you say. I ask, why do they change? The simple answer; it's because you have power now. They used you, betrayed you, hurt you when you were powerless. And now they act like that was never a thing. Why? Because you're strong enough to take revenge now! This is a golden opportunity! Take it when you can!"
"Stop please. It's irrational and stupid. I'm over it and it's about time you are forgotten as well. You can't help me because I don't need it." Izuku retorted.
"My dear, you're just locked up in a fake world." It pressed a similar scarred hand against the ice wall as a reflection, "Let me help you see the truth."
It gestured Izuku to put his hand together with the one on the reflection, but Izuku just had an expression that gave away his answer. And the answer was a silent no.
"Playing the tough guy, are we now?" It chuckled.
Izuku didn't give a reaction. He just crossed his arms on his chest.
If there was no way out, then be it. Izuku wouldn't let it convince him anything and just die a cold death. He didn't care. All that mattered was to keep it away from the others.
If dying and being forgotten was what it took, then Izuku would say he was grateful. No one would have to feel bad or cry on his death. It would be perfect in his eyes. No one would get hurt. Everyone would be fine.
Yeah, he would say that.
But it would be an understatement to say that it was just a cover for what he really wanted.
It's not like he wanted to be forgotten. Just thinking about it was horrible enough — how people he thought were his close friends would never know if there was an Izuku in their lives who sacrificed himself for their sake.
Just thinking about it twisted his heart in pain.
He wanted to be with them. He wanted to graduate with them. He wanted to become a Pro Hero with them. He wanted to save lives with them. He wanted to be with them.
He was scared.
He was scared of death. He was scared of being forgotten. He was scared of never being able to be with the people he cared about.
But... But he couldn't let his fear come in the way, could he? Plus, if there was anything he learned from this experience, it was that he should never let his emotions speak.
So, what was a little sacrifice for the people he cared about...?
He would die. He would be forgotten. All his dreams would be crushed. Wishes, hopes, plans; all gone to waste.
But if it meant for their sake, Izuku would die a thousand deaths like this, smiling.
Izuku's face had formed a troubled expression but he managed to erase it all and give a calm, kind smile.
"You won't win." He said.
"How about this then," It offered, "I'll show you how much you need it..."
That could only make things worse.
But Izuku was helpless as that thing had full control over him in this realm.
~O~
The next thing the green haired boy knew, he was out of the cavity in the glacier and was now standing behind a smaller one.
Though it was a little far from the one he was previously in. He could see the ash blonde standing in the distance, waiting in front of the bigger glacier.
Izuku silently peeked from behind the ice body as if to not give away his presence.
But that didn't work as that thing came back as his reflection in the wall of ice, startling him.
"Hey there!" It chirped up.
"Wha—?" Izuku stepped away as he asked, "Why are we here?"
"Just watch..." It smirked before disappearing from his reflection and jumping out as a dark misty figure that took the green head's form in mere seconds.
Izuku watched in anticipation as it walked over to the decoy that was the ash blonde.
Izuku gulped as it reached Bakugou's clone. He couldn't hear a thing but apparently they were talking about something.
It looked normal. Izuku didn't understand what was his past desire trying to show him. What was the point of this all? How could this show him how much revenge he needed?
How did a past desire plan to revoke his thirst for vengeance?
He didn't know.
Until...
"WAIT STOP—!" Izuku yelled, coming out of his spot as his eyes widened upon what he saw.
With a swift motion, that thing that had taken his own form completely twisted Bakugou's neck with a gut churning sound left ringing in Izuku's ear.
The green haired boy froze as he saw the ash blonde drop to the ground; cold and dead.
He knew that Bakugou was fake and wasn't really the person he had known since childhood.
But there was this feeling...
His stomach was in knots. Something cold crawled up his skin as he felt goosebumps all over his body. A strange liquid burning in the back of his neck. His breaths came out ragged. Green eyes never moved away from the scene.
He didn't even saw his own replicated form walk around and reach behind him until it placed it's hands on the boy's tensed up shoulders.
"So? How was it~?"
A self-satisfying grin appeared on it's face.
And soon, one appeared on Izuku's face as well.
