Restarting System...
⚪⚪⚪
"—ku!"
Darkness. He couldn't see a thing.
His limbs felt numb as he lied on his back, the cold grassy ground didn't help him feel comfortable. All the pains were now gone and he felt free of all stress.
"—ku!"
He felt a tingle in his ear. He couldn't make out who or what was speaking. Or rather what were they saying.
His eyelids felt extremely heavy, he was still tired. How long has been out for? He didn't know. He didn't want to know.
He just wanted this nightmare to end so he could rest for real.
"—zuku!"
The voice came back, calling out to him.
He stirred a little but didn't open his eyes. He drowsily mumbled about giving him five more minutes. But apparently, this person didn't hear him.
"Izuku!!"
Memories came flooding back into his mind. He remembered. He remembered everything now. He knew what was happening, he knew what had already happened, where he was, who those people were, he knew who he was, he knew what that voice and that blacked out figure was.
He remembered...
"Oi! Wake up!"
The green haired boy jolted up straight as he looked here and there for the source of the voice, panting heavily.
He was still in the vale but the cabin wasn't there, the figure wasn't there, the voice wasn't there. The sky was a unique shade of orange and red, the sun was setting once again. Did he sleep for the whole day?!
And sitting beside was the person who had been calling out his name and trying to wake him up. The ruby eyed ash blonde sat there looking at the green haired boy with a neutral expression.
"K-Kacchan?!" Izuku stuttered in surprise.
"So now I'm Kacchan again, huh?" Bakugou's expression didn't change but only raised an eyebrow.
Upon hearing this, Izuku's mind went back to their conversation earlier, "Oh! I—! Uh... Oh my god now I feel so stupid for not remembering your real name. I'm so sorry, Kacchan. And Tokoyami too. I can't believe I forgot half of his name. I'm such an idiot."
"Yeah... You are pretty stupid. Always getting into some shitty mess like this and coming back apologizing and all that shit." Bakugou said as he stood up, "But whatever, you got your memories back. Now get up. Were leaving this fucking hellhole."
"Yeah sure but my leg is," Izuku said as he looked at his injured limb, "My leg is.... Fine?" The injury was no longer there. He didn't feel any pain in moving it. His bones felt intact. It's like nothing ever happened to it.
"Are you gonna get up or should I leave you here to die again?" Bakugou said as he was already at some distance from the green head. He appeared to be going the opposite direction from the forest had disappeared from earlier. He was moving towards the mountains.
Was that really the way to the exit?
"A-Ah! Coming right behind you!" Izuku quickly got up on his feet and ran to catch up with the ash blonde.
For the next few minutes, the duo walked in silence. Bakugou in the lead while Izuku followed behind him.
The green haired boy sure did get his memory back but he didn't know a thing about how to get out of this place.
He remembered after losing consciousness in Iida's arms, he opened his eyes in a blank place. Which just happened to be the quirk he had since birth. A quirk that took him to a mindscape that was supposed to be under his control unless he feared or desired something great and exceedingly powerful. And that fear and or desire was the entity that overthrew his control in this place completely.
He tried fighting it at first in the cabin. But once he realized how strong it was, he left that letter there in hopes he would later find it and know what was going on if he lost his memories. Unfortunately, it didn't help much.
There was something about a restart once he left that place and moved to the clearing. And from there, the entity trespassed the system boundaries and erased all of his memories, making him vulnerable to the situation. He couldn't help but think the voice was guiding him right.
Then he just fell right in it's trap. Because as Izuku himself had figured out before losing all his memories; the more vulnerable he became to it, the more strengthened it became.
And in Izuku's case, this thing was stronger than any other since it was not only his greatest fear — as much as he didn't want to admit it — it was also once his greatest desire.
But he didn't want to recall it. Not now. Not never. Bakugou was here. He was taking him out of this place. Izuku didn't need to think back to it. He would just forget about it once he reached UA back.
He didn't want to ever think about it.
"Watch your steps," Bakugou said as he helped the green head climb up the stony slope. It was more difficult to climb on as compared to the grassy hill.
Lost in his thoughts, Izuku didn't notice how far they have come. The mountains looked pretty far from the vale. Guess time passes by really fast when you're not paying attention to your surroundings.
"Um... Kacchan," Izuku said, trying to divert his attention from his previous thoughts, "How did you find me anyways?"
For a moment the ash blonde didn't reply. He kept climbing up, occasionally giving a hand to the green head to help him up.
"Kacchan...?" Izuku called him again, awaiting an answer as he kept following him.
They were now at the peak of the mountain. It was completely covered in snow. There was a little snow on the way up but here Izuku's feet had sunk about seven inches or so in the snow. It was pretty cold and breath vapors formed out of his mouth every time he said something or took in the cold air.
Bakugou moved to an edge and crouched as he looked down the slope, "Look down there."
Without thinking, Izuku moved next to him and crouched down as well to see what the ash blonde wanted him to look at.
A large and almost frozen river was in between the mountain they were on and the next one, glaciers here and there.
In the golden rays of the setting sun, the huge ice bodies reflected the light in different directions. It looked beautiful. But Izuku had learned that sometimes natural beauty holds a lot of danger as well.
But he didn't understand... What exactly did the ash blonde want to show him?
And as if to answer his thoughts, Bakugou spoke up, "Exit's over that mountain. That's the end of that shit's range. You can make a way out if we reached there."
Izuku observed the scene for a while before he turned to his childhood friend, "A-And how are we going to cross the river? It looks quite unsuitable for swimming in. Plus, we're still in his boundary, aren't we? What if it pulled something the moment we get there? It's pretty strong and I-I don't think we can fight it!"
Bakugou almost groaned in annoyance and pointed at the heavily frozen river right between one of the biggest glacier and the mountain they were on. "There's something in there that'll help us cross it."
"... What is it?"
"You'll see."
Izuku wasn't exactly having a good feeling about this but he followed the ruby eyed boy down there.
~O~
Once both boys reached down, the ash blonde signalled Izuku to stop and wait as he went ahead and carefully stepped on the frozen river's ice. It seemed to have high thickness at the start and gradually becoming thinner as one moved forward. The ice ended right before the middle of the river.
Seeing that it was a safe path to the huge ice body they aimed to get to, Bakugou said, "It won't crack for now. We gotta be careful ahead though. You can step on it. We have to hurry."
Izuku only nodded before he took careful and slow steps on the ice as he moved behind the ash blonde once more.
'He didn't answer any of my questions...' The green head thought as he looked in Bakugou's direction.
There were nearing the glacier. Now taking a better look at it, it seemed like there was a huge gap in it — almost like a cave made of ice. But Izuku doubted going in there would be safe. What if it did come crashing down on them? He wouldn't only be endangering his own life again but also the life of the blonde.
"Kacchan, can you stay back for this one?" Izuku asked, walking beside the blonde.
"Hah? Why the fuck—?!"
"I mean, it looks pretty dangerous and I don't think it can hold two people!" Izuku said, "I... I'll go. Stay back, okay?"
Without taking an answer, Izuku stepped forwards and slowly into the opening of the ice body. Bakugou only watched as the green head disappeared from his sight.
He sighed and said, "It's done. He's coming."
