2: Settled
"No fucking way dude."
Jennie laughs, hysterically, all the while Jihyo glares angrily to the stars in the night sky. It wasn't in her plan initially to sneak out of the dorm to meet up with Jennie in the middle of the night, but Jihyo absolutely could not bear a moment longer being around Lisa's presence.
Here's the ironic part though; Lisa doesn't even talk.
They haven't even spoken since their first encounter, but her presence is just so fucking annoying. She has this shameless aura about her, as though she highly believes she's better than anyone who breathes around her.
Maybe Jihyo's ego is being nudged, since she's the one who's used to having that type of presence or by people being intimidated by her nature.
She's not use to someone being indifferent about it.
"I don't know, she sounds kinda hot," Jennie snickers, drinking the bottle of soju with a smirk, "You need to take it easy. The girl barely got settled in and you already don't like her."
"You know she what called me?" Jihyo snarls, sitting up from laying down the hood of Jennie's car, "A primadona. Like what the hell?"
"And you called her a whore," Jennie chokes a laugh, passing the bottle to Jihyo - who didn't hesitate to take a swing of the drink, "Can't say you didn't deserve it."
Jihyo scowls stubbornly, glaring at Jennie, "When you meet her, you'll know what I mean."
A slow snickers forms Jennie's lips, taking the bottle and finishing it up completely, "I would say be her bestie. Believe it or not, she could be useful. She's your roommate after all, and you'll need a backup when you get rebellious to see me."
Well, putting it that way isn't exactly a bad idea. If they're on bad terms, makes it harder for someone to have her back when she does something that's not part of the rules. Either way or not, Jihyo is not going to stop doing what she does.
Like hell.
Amusingly Jennie giggles to Jihyo's unamused expression, laying on her side now with a mischevious grin, "What if she turns out to be lesbian?"
Jihyo's face completely coils, scrunching up and turning her face to her best friend, "Um no. Look I can handle the music and her attitude, but if she's lesbian than that's an absolute no."
"Why? Just because it's in the handbook?" Jennie joked, her smile though twitching a little to Jihyo's still sour expression.
"It's just..... Not right," Jihyo huffs, looking back to the sky, "If it was, there would've been two men or woman to have existed first instead."
Jennie scoffs to this, "Men and woman was only needed to reproduce more kids. That's it."
"But still. Look, that's just how I see it okay? Been raised to see to think that way."
"So have I," Jennie mutters, "Yet I'm not homophobic."
Jihyo didn't say anything after that, since she knows that way of thinking is in fact being homophobic.
It got a little awkward between the two after that so Jihyo just told Jennie to take her back to the dorm. The entire ride back was a bit tense, even the music wasn't enough help to distinguish their clear fresh conversation earlier.
No doubt it was something that really bothered Jennie, and Jihyo can't really pinpoint as to why. Sure, it's a messed up mindset in this progressive society, but she's clutching onto the wheel of the car with this clear anger radiating her body.
Jihyo managed to piss her off, and that's a rare thing to do.
Yet she didn't press on it even after they got to the dorms. They didn't even say anything to each other, besides Jihyo muttering a thanks, before retrieving back to her dorm.
As much as Jihyo tried to wrap around her head to think of what she to be bad, she just couldn't feel guilty for it. Can't really blame her. Living in a traditional household, going by traditional values, pressed that into her head since the day she was born isn't exactly a box with openings.
Jennie has had time to explore and see more of the world, Jihyo hasn't.
Can't expect her to be so open as many people would wish out of her.
People like Jennie.
But Jennie will come around.
They're friends after all.
With that in mind, Jihyo only wordlessly climbs her window and easily gets inside quietly.
Only to find Lalisa awake, computer out as she types from her bed. Hair messed up in a bun with wide glasses to her face, Jihyo for a second didn't even recognize her.
She didn't even spare a look her way, far too focused on whatever she was doing to take into consideration that her roommate has a habit of sneaking out at night.
Jihyo didn't say anything to her either, since there's nothing really to say to her.
Instead she goes and takes a shower, washes up while brushing her teeth for what felt like hours before finding herself back on her bed, phone out and immediately texts Jimin.
Apparently he told her that he'd had to hold off on a quick response since he's a bit occupied.
By occupied, Jihyo can definitely put two and two together.
This fuckboy never changes.
"Hey Jihyo."
Forgetting for a second that she now shares a room with a whole new person, Jihyo startled just a tad bit but then looks over across the room to Lalisa. The girl is still typing on her computer, but then fixes her gaze to Jihyo.
"You don't like me very much, do you?"
Jihyo blinks to her sudden statement, raising a slow eyebrow to where it even came from. It's been a weak and you could say the two haven't really spoken to each other like that, but it's obvious by the aura Jihyo gives off that she's not fond of her presence.
Not personally, she just doesn't like people.
So in response, Jihyo just shrugs, "I don't really like anyone."
"You like that guy I saw you around with."
"He's bearable," Jihyo responds flatly, knowing she's referring to Jimin, "Why does it concern you?"
Lalisa was quiet for a moment, thinking her words carefully, but then she grunts and rubs her hair, "You need to chill sometimes man," She says calmly, "You're too tense all the time, as though you're on edge someone is out to stomp on you."
Jihyo raises a sharp eyebrow, now looking at her with her full attention, "I am chill."
"Clearly," Lalisa mutters, closing her laptop, "I don't want bad blood between us. I actually want to be cool with my roommate, but if that's not okay, say less."
For a moment Jihyo was going to let it be and call it a night, but then she remembered Jennie's reaction today during their conversation.
Okay, maybe she's been a little too hard on this girl.
She's right, they're roommates, mind as well be on some..... Settling terms or whatever.
Not have it be tense all the time.
But Jihyo is so horrible at making friends that it's a curse.
People just can't handle her attitude.
So with a heavy eye roll, she mutters, "Alright, I'll ease the edge off," Jihyo mutters, making Lalisa perk her head up, "But we're not magically besties. So don't get your hopes up or whatever."
That was all Lalisa needed to her.
The smile that formed her lips had Jihyo wanting to scowl away to her sleep, but instead she just turns her lamp off and turns to her side, closing her eyes to dive into a heavy sleep.
Thinking of what if...... Jennie was right?
What if Lalisa is lesbian?
But at the end of the day, that's none of her business.
