One day in Santa Cecilia, Ernesto was on his way to see his beloved Maddie Rivera, who he has a crush on and he hasn't admitted it yet.

Ernesto walks to Maddie's house and sees a black-haired boy singing a song to her and he looks to be in love with Maddie as well. Ernesto listens to the song that the black-haired boy, Loki, sings to her. Loki starts to sing. "Nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation. Darkness stirs and wakes imagination. Silently the senses abandon their defenses...Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendor. Grasp it, sense it tremulous and tender. After Loki leaves. Ernesto approaches Maddie and starts to talk to her. "Hello, Maddie. Who was that?" Asked Ernesto. "Oh, that was my best friend, Loki. He and I were friends before I met you because he lives right across the street from me. I love him. I don't know about dating him or marrying him, though. Should I, Ernesto?" Asked Maddie. "No! I mean sure but before you decide, can I please try to change your mind tomorrow?" Asked Ernesto. "Sure. But don't hate me or anything if I choose Loki over you, ok?" Asked Maddie. "I could never hate you Maddie and you'll see why tomorrow." Said Ernesto.

Ernesto leaves after spending 4 hours with Maddie and gets everything ready for tomorrow. He plans to make tomorrow night the best night and day ever for his crush. In the morning, Ernesto dresses in his fanciest mariachi outfit and goes and gets Maddie who is dressed in a blue dress with hearts on it. Ernesto takes Maddie to see Hector sing and she loves the special song that Hector sang just for her. After that Ernesto takes Maddie to her favorite restaurant Olive Garden. They talk about everything, getting to know each other better and Ernesto is a real gentleman the whole time. After paying for the food and drinks, Ernesto takes Maddie to see the sunset.

When Ernesto and Maddie get to the perfect view to see the sunset, they start to talk. "Thanks for everything Ernesto. You are a real friend. I loved spending time with you today." Said Maddie. "I loved spending time with you too. But I have one more thing to show you." Said Ernesto taking out his guitar. He starts to sing. "I love you too much to live without you loving me back. When she gets home, she sees Loki and he has flowers for her and tons of presents for her. She hugs Loki. But her heart beats for Ernesto. Loki puts her under a trance only a true love's kiss can break. He sings to her. "No more talk of darkness, Forget these wide-eyed fears.
I'm here, nothing can harm you, my words will warm and calm you. Let me be your freedom, let daylight dry your tears. I'm here with you, beside you, to guard you and to guide you." Said Loki. Maddie feels compelled to sing along. "Say you love me every waking moment, turn my head with talk of summertime... Say you need me with you now and always... Promise me that all you say is true that's all I ask of you." Said Maddie. "Let me be your shelter, let me be your light. You're safe, No one will find you, your fears are far behind you..." Said Loki. "All I want is freedom, a world with no more night and you, always beside me, to hold me and to hide me..." Said Maddie. "Then say you'll share with me
one love, one lifetime. Let me lead you from your solitude. Say you need me with you here, beside you...anywhere you go, let me go too. Maddie, that's all I ask of you..." Said Loki. He kisses her and she kisses back, making her fall under his spell. Maddie starts to sing. "Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime...say the word and I will follow you..." Said Maddie. Loki and Maddie sing together. "Share each day with me,
each night, each morning..." Said Loki and Maddie. "Say you love me..." Said Maddie. "You know I do..." Said Loki. "Love me - that's all I ask of you. Anywhere you go let me go too. Love me - that's all I ask of you..." Said Loki and Maddie. They kiss and Maddie is completely under Loki's spell.

In the morning. Ernesto goes to check on Maddie and sees her kissing Loki and saying that she loves him with all her heart. He walks away broken-hearted. Ernesto goes and sees Hector. When Hector sees Ernesto he is worried about his best friend's state. Ernesto sits on Hector's couch. "What's wrong, Ernesto?" Asked Hector. "Maddie doesn't love me. She loves Loki. I saw her kissing him." Said Ernesto. "Did you see if she was under the mind control of any sort?" Asked Hector. "No. Oh, how could I be so blind! I need to save her!" Said Ernesto. He thanks Hector before leaving.

When Ernesto gets back to Maddie. He sees her on the porch and hugs her before kissing her. Maddie kisses back because she is free of Loki's evil spell. Once Loki realizes this he mind controls Hans to want to love Maddie for Loki's sake. Maddie is forever thankful that Ernesto saved her life that day because if she hadn't Ernesto would be the villain in her history.
