Chapter 14 : D1 classroom

They walked through another long but wide corridor. They could hear professors carrying on with their lectures and their senior students learning to use advanced magic spell casting.

"I'm excited already," Emile told Charlie.

"That's guaranteed in your case but-- where's Timothy?"

Ermand and Odin shrugged. Emile leaned forward and backward so as to spot him among the students.

"Well... He might be--"

"Thank you, thank you. I'm glad you liked it. It's my favourite flavour too. I love Golden Good Chocolates and they're--"

"Timothy!" Charlie called behind him.

Timothy was surrounded with several girls who would be in his class. They were eagerly listening to him while Timothy was bluffing his far-fetched stories.

"Uh... Gotta go. See you later ladies!"

Before he turned back to walk along with his friends, he winked at the group of girls.

"What were you doing there? We thought you were angry while you dashed out of the hall," Emile said.

"I was angry but..."

He shrugged as he tried hiding a naughty grin. Charlie rolled his eyes at this and Emile shook his head.

Ermand and Charlie chuckled in unison but Odin was busy scanning the corridor.

"Now," Professor Derek said. "This is a magical door and it allows him or her to enter who belongs inside."

The door looked very old but finely furnished. Every decoration on it was chiselled very precisely and creatively. It was a tall door and somewhere around it's corner was a wooden knob, which didn't look old at all.

"Is it a talking door?" Emile asked from the crowd.

Everybody gazed at his confidence to speak to such a cold and strict-looking professor.

"It used to be. But now he is tired of talking to worthless students."

"So how does it open?"

"Knock."

Professor Derek glared at a confused Emile. He might be thriving to ask more questions, but the professor turned to knock on the door.

All of a sudden, someone choked. It was a senile and weak voice, then it whistled. It was the door.

"New year. New students. New trouble," the professor said. "I'm introducing you to the only students who shall be permitted to enter inside for this whole year."

The door choked again.

"Everybody line up."

"Are we little kids to line up and stare at an old and choking magical door?" Timothy whispered to Charlie, who giggled at this.

The first student in the line was a girl. She was twiddling with her hair nervously.

"Tell your name." the professor guided her.

"I-I'm Rosabelle Vinn."

The door coughed again, and this time, dust flew in the air. Everybody coughed except the professor who remained unchanged in his expression. Then the knob around the corner turned silver and the big wide doors opened into a magnificent and wide spaced hall with polished wooden benches and desks that were arranged in a circle around a raised circular stage. The chandeliers hung above had it's crystals in different pale colours. There were an equal number of glass windows on all the three walls, huge rolled up charts were hanging at a corner of the ceiling. The floor was tiled with the Rougiatum stone. The whole look of the classroom was impressive.

All the students gaped at the hall and gasped wow.

Ermand felt goosebumps. He couldn't believe he was standing there. He still thought that all of those were just a dream.

I'm a student here?

He couldn't believe his eyes. Everything was real.

"Find yourself a comfortable seat."

The professor gestured to Rosabelle to go inside. She did accordingly.

"Next."

The second person was another girl like Rosabelle. She pretended to be relaxed and stood sturdy as her gaze was inside the classroom. After the first step into the classroom, she turned at one of the doors sideways "I'm Alexia Rauffin," she introduced herself.

"In you go," the professor said.

The process continued until the very last student told his name to the old door. Then, Professor Derek walked inside with his hands tied to his back while the door closed behind him.

"You might think that the door is too weak and old to recognise your tricks and ploys. Brush the thought off your mind. Remember where you are and not where you have been as you enter the gates of this college and the door." He addressed the students sitting on the benches around him.

"We have certain rules and I have to make sure that you will abide by it," he continued. "Rule number one, no student is allowed to bully, bribe or trouble anyone. Serious actions will be taken against the offender. Rule number two, any student seen playing dirty tricks and bunking classes will be very sorry."

"And he's the wickedest of the teacher's to catch the bunkers," Charlie whispered, turning at Ermand.

"Rule number three, nobody can be disregarded in any of our college activities and function in the name of their clan. Violators beware. All other rules imprinted in a book will be posted to each and everyone of your houses by Hymphers before you reach there. Read it carefully so that no one gets misled.

"Tomorrow's your Freshers day. Classes will begin the day after tomorrow. Practical stuff will be sent to you by tomorrow through Knockmen. For those who wish to stay in our college dormitory, stay back while the rest can go back home."

Ermand noticed that his voice remained in the same pitch throughout his speech.

He began to stand up, clutching his satchel but Timothy held his arm.

"Don't tell me you're not joining us in the dorm."

"Uh... I'm going back home. I live in Fingercut street, I can reach the college in fifteen minutes from there."

"Oh come on! I live in Tawarn too! Think of the fun we'll be having if we all join in the dorm. Especially when it's we who'll choose our dorm. Isn't that cool?"

"It is, but I'm sorry. I'll have to go now."

"Hey, even me and Odin are in Tawarn!" Charlie shrugged.

"Um, guys I--" Odin interrupted.

"I'm really sorry. I'll meet you guys tomorrow. Gotta go. Bye."

"You're not going--hey!" Charlie called after Ermand who stood up and joined the students exiting out of the room.

"I have to go too. Sorry," Odin apologized before he left with Ermand.

Charlie leaned closer to Timothy.

"There he goes. Well mate, I guess it's just you, me and Emile."

"Yeah. Hey Emile, you live in New Tawarn?"

Emile was not there with them. They turned their attention to a boy who stood near to professor Chestnut. He nodded his head at him after he replied something to him.

"He's such a nerd!" Charlie said with his hands cupping his face.

While outside the classroom, Ermand was contentful of all the things that had gone smooth. All of his worry had faded away, professor Qorder won't bother him or so he assumes. He would be going there tomorrow to join the celebration the next day. As he passed the corridor, smiling to himself, the same electric feeling triggered his body again!

"AAAHH!" he cried loudly, his lower limbs trembled.
