II - XXIV:「Our Return」
❝I'm not stalking. I'm just admiring them from afar and making sure that they won't get hurt.❞

The tension was high. (Y/N) was starting to sweat as their eyes drifted towards Alem and Wallace, determined to bring them down and defeat them. Alem held his neutral look while keeping his gaze at the table, waiting for Wallace to make his move that could end up finishing them if he doesn't make the right choice.
They were in trouble. They had no idea that this was going to be intense. Was there really no way to make Wallace change his mind and defeat the twins in this battle?
Gulping, (Y/N) watched as Wallace slowly lifted his available fingers towards his other hand. In one swift moment, Wallace slammed a +4 uno card on the table.
"Wallace, no!" (Y/N) cried out and whined, holding on to their cards tightly. Wallace sent the twin an apologetic smile as he was down to one card left. Alem sighed and looked down on his own cards to think of what card he could use while (Y/N) continued to struggle, staring at their last +4 card on their deck that was also among other normal colored cards and one +2 card.
They drifted their eyes towards Alem's cards and noticed that he almost has the same amount of cards as they do. 'I still have a chance.' They thought while pulling out the +4 card and slamming it on the table.
While (Y/N) was lightly smiling in confidence, Alem blinked his eyes towards the card that his twin placed on the table before sighing and countering it with another +4 card.
'Oh shit.' They thought while Wallace grinned broadly and placed his last +4 card on the table, yelling out "Uno!" as (Y/N) started to facepalm and staring at the last +2 card on their hand.
Alem doesn't look like he's having much trouble at all - to be honest, none of them knew if he was panicking or not because of his expression, but they just figured that it's his way of not letting other people read him easily.
As (Y/N) was slowly beginning to lose hope, they silently place the last +2 card on the table and was immediately being covered by another +2 card from Alem's deck. With a sigh, (Y/N) placed their normal cards down and showed them for Alem and Wallace to see.
"Well, there's nothing I can do afterwards. I've completely lost." said (Y/N) while leaning their back on their chair. Alem smirked and showed his cards as well, the +2 cards and other powerup cards showing that he would've had the advantage either way if (Y/N) still continued playing.
"You're always easy to read." commented Alem while arranging the stack of Uno cards properly. "This is why you always lose."
"I'll beat you next time, I swear." (Y/N) stuck their tongue out to their brother and let out of a huff. Wallace chuckled and gently took the neatly arranged cards that Alem placed on the table, placing them back inside the box.
"Sure sure." replied Alem nonchalantly, as if he didn't believe what (Y/N) was saying.
"Thank you for taking your time out of the day to invite me to play this game." Wallace bowed at the twins. (Y/N) waved their hand in dismissal as they stood up from their seat.
"It's no problem. We need to make the most out of today since we're going back to Hogwarts tomorrow and all." They said. Alem nodded in agreement.
"It's been a while since we've played together too." Alem added, causing Wallace to smile warmly at the twins. He would miss these two troublemakers by the time they went off to Hogwarts tomorrow - it's only been two months since they've been home and Wallace already wished that they stay in the house forever.
The Rosewood household would certainly become quiet starting tomorrow and Wallace would have to stay home, reading books and listening to music all by himself the entire day once his daily chores were done. He wanted to spend more time with the twins but knew that they would have to spend the rest of their day with Zeke since he's their best friend.
Wallace even asked if Aurelia and Lawrence could finish their work early so they could all eat together as a family one last time before (Y/N) and Alem left for school. Sure, it may be dramatic and it's not like they'll be gone forever but the twins brought life to the house and Wallace wouldn't want to see them eating dinner by themselves without dining with their parents together.
He was sure that (Y/N) and Alem would've loved to eat with their parents - they always have a smile on their faces when they do.
"Well, we should head over to Zeke's house." (Y/N) told the two while stretching their arms. "Come to think of it, isn't he going to start school tomorrow too?"
"Yeah, his tutor's coming by." Alem nodded and recalled his friend's words a few days ago when they visited his house once more. "I don't think he needs to worry all that much considering that he already finished his homework last week."
"Speaking of homework, have you two already finished yours? It would be unwise to cram yourselves tonight." Wallace asked, frowning at them. "Mistress Aurelia will scold you two."
"Don't worry, Wallace." Alem smiled at the black haired man and crossed his arms confidently. "I already had them done last month. July 27th, to be exact."
"Alem forced me to get them done by the first week of August, so no problems here either." (Y/N) laughed, remembering how Alem supervised them for the entire week just to get all of their homework done before the second week of August rolls by.
Alem wasn't going to let his twin cram their work - that's a bad studying habit.
"That's wonderful." Wallace nodded, satisfied at the twins' answers as they were about to leave the house. "Would you two like to eat a little snack first before you go?" He asked after them, causing them to turn around and shake their heads.
"No, it's fine. We just ate lunch after all." (Y/N) told the man, smiling at him appreciatively for offering at least.
"Alright. Have fun you two." Wallace nodded and watched as they began to converse with each other while leaving the house to visit Zeke. Sighing, Wallace walked towards the kitchen and towards the sink to do the dishes.
'I should buy some groceries before dark for tonight...' He thought as he turned the faucet on and continued to do his work.

As (Y/N) and Alem entered the Miller's house, they were immediately greeted by Mr. Miller welcoming them into their home. Mrs. Miller greeted the twins as well but left them to go to Zeke's room since that's where they always go when they visit their house.
Zeke immediately set his books aside once (Y/N) and Alem let themselves in his room. He was getting a bit busy because his tutor would be arriving tomorrow, but since today would also be the last day that he and the twins would get to hang out, he needed to make the most of it today.
He figured he'll just finish it tonight. Staying up late at night wouldn't be a problem, would it?
The three started to talk to each other - what they're going to expect in their new school year, what lessons they're going to learn, and how tiring it is to go back to school. Since Zeke isn't aware that the twins go to a magical school that lets them do magic and confront really dangerous creatures, Alem took it upon himself to try and relate the subjects to muggle schools.
(Y/N), catching on to Alem's drift, used their knowledge from their real world to make it less suspicious. They don't remember much about the lessons they learned when they were attending a secondary school, but it's worth the shot.
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay by yourself, Zeke?" Alem asked the dark-skinned boy with a frown. He knew how lonely Zeke was last year when they didn't come home for nine months. They didn't even go back home for Christmas.
Zeke nodded and flashed the twins a gentle smile. "I'm sure. Don't worry about it too much, although I really will miss the two of you this year." He said, placing his hands on his lap. "Just promise me that the two of you will come back home this Christmas, alright?"
(Y/N) nodded while telling themselves that they couldn't be at Christmas when Harry and Ron are going to disguise themselves as Crabbe and Goyle. "We promise. We'll even bring you a few candies from our school when we get back home." They told Zeke, who smiled at their words.
"I'll keep that in mind." He said before sighing and leaning his back on the headboard of his bed.
"I'll be so busy starting tomorrow. Sometimes, I wish I could just go to a normal school and attend classes normally." Zeke continued as he started to imagine how nice it would be to talk to new people and go to school like a normal child.
The thing is; he was once a normal child. He used to walk with his own two feet and run around the streets like any normal kid would do in a clear summer day.
Well, that is until he got caught in an accident that caused his legs to be like what they are now.
(Y/N) felt their lips curl down to a frown when they saw how sad Zeke seemed. They didn't know much about the origin of his accident and they didn't want to seem weird by asking him about it, but even they know that being cooped up in your house the whole day for years because you can't walk must suck.
They needed to do something at least. They have magic - they could surely research a spell that can heal his legs.
'Is there something I can do to heal his legs? Magic and potions could work for him, right?' They thought in silence as their hands silently gripped the hem of their shorts tightly. Alem noticed his twin's silent reaction but didn't say anything as he could already tell what was on their mind.
"Maybe I could've even gone to your school. Think about how nice it would be to just have the three of us attending school together and meeting new friends." said Zeke and imagined the three of them bickering in classes and just studying together in their classroom.
He felt his heart ache a bit when he realized that it was only his imagination - could (Y/N) even grow to love him even if he's like this?
Could he even marry them when they get older?
"That would be nice." Alem told Zeke, snapping the black haired boy out of his pessimistic thoughts. "If only we could bring you to our school." He added and thought about how Zeke would be if he was born with magic and attended Hogwarts with them.
He wondered what his house would be.
Suddenly, a knocking sound on the door to Zeke's room filled their ears. The door gently creaked open, revealing the smiling face of Mrs. Miller with a plate of cookies on her hand. "Sorry for intruding~" she said in a sing-song voice, earning a small smile from the three children in the room. "Do you three want some cookies? Fresh out of the oven."
(Y/N)'s eyes immediately widened at the sight of the cookies on the plate that she held. Just the smell of the freshly baked pastry was enough for their mouth to water.
"Thank you, Mrs. Miller." Alem thanked her as she placed the plate on Zeke's bedside table.
"Thanks, mum!" Zeke grinned at his mother broadly before picking up a cookie from the plate.
Mrs. Miller giggled and walked back towards the door. "You're welcome. Don't let me stop you three from having fun. Just here to drop these off." she said before slowly closing the door shut, leaving the three to eat their cookies in peace.
(Y/N) felt bliss when the taste of the chocolate chip cookie touched their tongue. "Your mum makes the best cookies, Zeke." They commented while munching. "She's also really nice too."
Alem nodded in agreement, smiling at the taste of the cookies.
"Yeah, she is. I respect her and dad so much." Zeke agreed with (Y/N), chuckling as he took another cookie. "They've always been here with me when you two are away. Even though mum is often busy because she's a nurse, she still tries to take the time out of her day to make sure I don't feel lonely being cooped up in this room."
The twins could only give Zeke a gentle sorrowful look. They wished that they could've done something more for him.
"Your parents are really wonderful." is what Alem could only say. It wasn't a lie - Mr and Mrs. Miller really were wonderful people. They have great hospitality towards other people and care so much for their only son, even if he can't walk.
Zeke smiled at Alem before munching on his cookie. "That's why sometimes I just wish that these legs could work once more so when I'm finally okay, I could study hard and repay them for all the things they've done to support me throughout these years." The black haired boy said as an image of his parents smiling popped up on his mind. "I want them to be happy more than anything."
None of the twins could speak up. They truly wished that they could help Zeke with his condition, but considering that they're underaged and inexperienced wizards (and witches), they'll most likely do more harm than good to Zeke's legs.
"Hey, how about we watch a show in the living room? I bet there's a really good show that's airing right now." Zeke suddenly spoke up to remove the awkward silence that's about to engulf his room. (Y/N) smiled and stood up from the floor, dusting off any dirt from their shorts as they walked closer towards Zeke's bed.
"Sure." They said while readying his wheelchair that was on the side of his bed. Maybe a good TV show could ease the mind of the three children and drift their thoughts away from negative ones. Alem stood up from the ground as well and walked towards Zeke's bed.
"Here, let us help you." (Y/N) told the boy as they and Alem gently lifted Zeke out of his bed and placed him on the wheelchair.
"Thank you." The boy thanked the twins with a smile. They returned the smile back as (Y/N) pushed the wheelchair out of the room and Alem carried the plate of cookies on his hand.

The three continued the day by watching multiple cartoon shows that aired on the television. (Y/N) smiled at the appearance of a certain grey cat and a brown mouse chasing each other as the goofy background sound played with violin strings that made the comedic effect sound funnier.
They haven't watched a lot of Tom and Jerry when they were children, but they did catch a glimpse of their neighbor's kid watching it on their television and proceeded to watch it by their window. Young (Y/N) felt relieved when the family didn't close the blinds of their windows to prevent the child from watching.
While Zeke, (Y/N), and Alem laughed at some of the funny bits on the cartoon, the sun was already beginning to set in the distance. The light of the sun was starting to die out and the mix of orange and purple hue in the sky caught the attention of (Y/N), who drifted their eyes away from the television screen.
"Dang, has it already gotten late?" They spoke up, causing the other two to drift their attention away from the tv. "I thought it was still around 3 pm or something."
Zeke blinked. "Wow, you're right. I didn't even notice that the sun was about to go down." He said and was almost amazed at how much time has passed since the twins have arrived at his home. He felt like he was just hanging out with them for five minutes. "Are you two already leaving?"
Alem nodded and smiled at his friend apologetically as he stood up from his seat. "Yeah. I'm sorry if we can't be here for much longer."
"No, it's fine! I completely understand, don't worry about it." Zeke flashed the boy a smile before turning his head towards the kitchen and yelling. "Mum, dad! Alem and (Y/N) are leaving!"
"Alright! Be safe, you two!" The voice of Mr. Miller echoed from the kitchen. Judging from the sounds of utensils being clanked around, he must be doing something busy and couldn't see them off.
Out of the kitchen doorway popped out Mrs. Miller, who was just about to wear her light blue apron. "Really? You two don't want to stay for dinner?"
"That'd be nice but Wallace must've already prepared our dinner so..." Alem awkwardly scratched his head. "But, thank you for asking."
"Alright. Good luck for tomorrow you two." Mrs. Miller nodded at the twins before walking back inside the kitchen and helping with her husband to prepare for their meal.
"Don't forget to send us letters. We'd also love to know how you two are doing and if you need any help, let us know." said Zeke. With a small smile, Alem and (Y/N) walked up to the boy and wrapped their arms around him.
They were crouching so it was a bit difficult, but the twins kept their arms around the boy for a few seconds before retracting away. Zeke almost had tears threatening to spill out of his hazel brown eyes but chuckled and sniffled to keep himself from crying.
"Thanks, Zeke." (Y/N) smiled appreciatively at him. Zeke only nodded, blushing at the realization that he just hugged them.
"See you." Alem waved the boy goodbye as they began to walk out of the Miller's house.
"Bye!" Zeke called out to them, but the twins didn't respond and could only wave back at him through the window where Zeke smiled at them. It took the boy a few seconds before wheeling away from the window to go to the kitchen, causing (Y/N) to sigh and thought about talking to their brother about something that's been on their head for a while.
"Alem... do you think we can help Zeke with his condition using magic?" They asked, kicking a lone pebble on the street as they continued walking to their home. "When we're seventeen, we can help him, can't we?"
(Y/N) was referring to the trace that young witches and wizards have when they're underaged. The Ministry knows when they've done underaged magic in the presence of muggles, which could ultimately cost them expulsion at Hogwarts and their wands being snapped in half.
They figured that doing magic in magical household doesn't seem too much of a big deal since they aren't exposing themselves too much.
As much as (Y/N) wanted to help Zeke now, doing anything to him that involved magic when they were still underaged was risky and they didn't want to be expelled at Hogwarts just yet.
"We could. That's what I'm planning too actually..." Alem muttered in response, causing (Y/N) to smile lightly. It's a good thing when Alem was agreeing with someone.
"Why don't we just brew a potion that helps him become... Well, un-paralyzed? Such thing exists, right?" (Y/N) asked hopefully. They haven't done that much research in potions and Snape being their professor in that class isn't helping. He'd always give creepy stares to students and would make you unmotivated to study if he ridicules you for brewing a potion wrong.
"We could give it to him by Christmas and he'd be all fine." They added and thought about how they could brew Polyjuice Potion and the potion that can help Zeke together with Hermione. She'd know all about potions and the bushy haired girl would certainly help them if they knew the reason why they'd do it, right?
Alem sighed and turned to look at his twin. "(Y/N), as much as I want Zeke's condition to be better, letting him drink a potion is kind of risky." He said, but was really unsure of his response.
(Y/N)'s eyebrow quirked upward and looked at Alem in confusion. "Risky? Risky how? It's not like we're going to brew him a magical laxative." They asked.
"Potions made by witches and wizards aren't normally supposed to be drank by muggles. What if his condition gets worse?" said Alem. He wanted to help his friend but just didn't want to make things worse by doing so. Wizards and witches are different from muggles; they can withstand pain differently, the other can live up to hundreds of years.
(Y/N) scoffed and thought about how Merope Gaunt, Tom Riddle's mother, had given her ex-husband a love potion. It's still a potion regardless and it worked on him. "They can be drank by muggles. Didn't you know that a few muggles consumed a love potion and it worked on them perfectly? What's the difference if it's Zeke?" (Y/N) told Alem, who was still looking on the concrete ground skeptically. He wasn't sure if this could really help Zeke or not.
But the way Zeke's eyes flashed sadly when he talked about how he just wanted to walk normally like them, it made him feel sad and heavy. He didn't want to see his friend looking like that.
He did want to help him, but as they were both twelve year olds with little experience when it comes to magic and potions at the moment, Zeke could very well end up having his skin color turn green if they did the slightest bit of mistake.
(Y/N) sighed before grabbing Alem's hand and giving him a small smile. "We have to try somehow. Don't you want him to get better?" They asked but Alem still wasn't looking at them. "You'll help me, won't you?"
The boy was silent for a few seconds but responded when he's made up his mind. "We'll try."

As (Y/N) and Alem arrived at their house, Wallace was already preparing for their dinner by the kitchen. Sounds of kitchen utensils and the sound of ingredients being chopped up indicated this idea but the twins still walked up towards the kitchen to tell the black haired butler that they're home.
"Welcome back." Wallace briefly greeted the two with a smile before going back to his work. Alem thought that they shouldn't bother him for now and beckoned for his twin to follow him back up on their room.
While (Y/N) and Alem waited for dinner to be served, (Y/N) was playing with their gameboy. They were playing one of the new games that Wallace bought them last week and were currently on the final stage of the game. While (Y/N) was focused on their new game, Alem was busy sorting some of the books that he finished reading and the books that he hasn't finished yet in two groups.
He's already trying to study ahead so he wouldn't struggle when it was time for actual classes, however some of his procrastination was starting to show when the huge pile of books that he hasn't finished reading yet was more overwhelming than the pile of books he's already read.
While the twins were left to their own devices, a knock on their door echoed around the room. (Y/N) blinked but didn't look up from their game while Alem looked over towards the door. "Come in." He said, causing the door to creak open.
Lawrence peeked inside the room with a smile on his face. The first thing that Alem noticed is that his (H/C) hair looked messy and un-combed, almost as if a mini tornado swooped around his head and caused destruction on his hair.
When (Y/N) saw that it was their father, they paused the game and looked up from their gameboy screen. They didn't expect their father to be home for tonight, especially since he and Aurelia, their mother, looked very busy when they headed out for work.
Needless to say, Alem didn't expect to see his parents either but didn't complain and instead smiled. He wanted to spend his last night with his entire family after all. Well, maybe except with Linda and her husband.
He doesn't consider them as his family.
He called them down for dinner, causing (Y/N) to pause their game and leave it on their bedside table as they stretched their arms and waited for Alem to set everything in order with his books.
The Rosewoods had a spectacular dinner, even if only five people were dining in the kitchen. A smile was stretched on (Y/N)'s lips as they brought up a slice of meat up towards their mouth before chewing it happily and letting the taste of the cooked meat dance around their taste buds.
"This is so delicious!" complimented (Y/N) while taking another bite out of their meal.
"Master Lawrence helped with the dinner preparation." said Wallace. "He does have a talent for cooking, after all."
"Yeah, but you're amazing too, Wallace!" (Y/N) grinned up at the dark haired man. "I could never cook something this delicious in my entire life!"
'And I've never really eaten anything this good back in the real world.' They thought sadly then shook their head as they continued to enjoy their meal.
"You flatter." Wallace bashfully smiled at them before turning his attention back to his food. He felt thankful enough that the Rosewoods insisted that he were to dine with them since he was a part of the family now.
"I could teach you and Alem to cook!" Lawrence suddenly piped up from his seat, grinning happily at his children. He looked ecstatic at the idea of being able to teach them something other than with the math problems from their homework when they were still attending a muggle school. "Cooking for yourself is a vital skill you need to learn and I will not have my children constantly ordering any fast food when they get older!"
Alem thought about it and realized that he never really thought about cooking at all. Probably because Wallace has always been the one doing all the cooking since they were born. But hey, it's not like he's completely hopeless that he'll immediately burn a single fried egg the moment he touches a frying pan.
"Ooh, I could also teach you how to bake!" Aurelia's ears perked up at the topic of the conversation then turned to look at Alem and (Y/N), who were still thinking about it.
"That's awesome! But..." (Y/N)'s face lit up at the suggestion of their parents but their expression immediately fell when they realized that they're going back to Hogwarts tomorrow. "Well, we'll be gone by tomorrow."
Aurelia and Lawrence looked at each other for a brief moment then smiled before turning to look at (Y/N). "Don't worry too much about it, dear. We'll be seeing each other this Christmas, after all." said Aurelia. "We'll teach you how to cook and bake as much as you'd want. We can also go shopping after Christmas Eve, how about that?"
"Really?" Alem frowned and suddenly looked a bit concerned but surprised as well. "You won't... be busy this Christmas?"
"Well, I'll be damned if the Ministry gives us extra work this Christmas when we haven't even gotten a Christmas break last year." replied Aurelia, her eyes glimmering in slight annoyance. "I'll personally write to Crouch if he's not going to give me a break."
"I already told Bones that I'd like to spend Christmas with my family this year since July. So, I've gotten a headstart." Lawrence further calmed Alem down with his words, causing the younger Rosewood to smile appreciatively at his parents.
He didn't say anything, but he was glad that he could see his parents this Christmas. He only really treasured his family and Zeke, after all.
"Ah, speaking of headstart," Lawrence's eyes lit up in realization as he patted his mouth with a napkin, then turned to look at Wallace. The two shared a look and almost felt like they were talking to each other telepathically, because Wallace seemed to understand what he meant and excused to leave the room for a moment.
"Huh? What's this about?" (Y/N) looked up at their father in confusion, then noticed the held back grin of Aurelia from beside him. She looked way too happy.
Alem, who seemed to have gotten the message, looked down at his plate to prevent (Y/N) from asking him any questions.
After a minute, Wallace returned to the kitchen. A loud gasp escaped (Y/N)'s lips when they saw the cage that Wallace carried on his dominant hand and their eyes were widened in surprise.
"I-Is that...!?" They couldn't even finish their words when Lawrence and Aurelia chuckled at their child's reaction as Wallace set the cage down to the floor and clicked the door open, gently retrieving the small black cat that they saw last time when they went to Diagon Alley.
"Well, we said we'd get you a cat in your third year..." said Aurelia before glancing sideways to look at Lawrence, who was nervously scratching his head. "But a certain someone couldn't resist waiting until next year and insisted on getting you your cat now."
"It would feel unfair if (Y/N) didn't have a companion yet on Hogwarts!" Lawrence exclaimed and held his hands up defensively while ignoring Aurelia's glares. "Don't you want our son/daughter to have a fluffy little buddy when they go to sleep?"
"Anyway," Aurelia sighed and ignored her husband's ridiculous words while turning over towards (Y/N), who gently picked up the small feline. The way they held the kitten almost felt like as if they were afraid that the kitten would disappear or break the moment she adds even the slightest bit of pressure on their grip.
"We did receive your report card and the comments from each professors told us that you were doing well in your studies, so you definitely deserve it, dear." She smiled at her child, who was still staring at her new cat with wide (E/C) eyes and slightly parted open mouth.
Feeling the tears welling up in the corner of their eyes, (Y/N) sniffled and slowly brought the black cat close to their chest. They softly buried their face on the cat's body, hiding their tears from their family but everyone already knew they were crying.
"I..." They sniffled once again and felt their lips quivering as tears continued to flow down to their cheeks. (Y/N) couldn't explain how happy they were at the moment, how they were immediately going to treasure the present that their newfound family gave them, and how wrong they were when they used to think that they'd never be able to be genuinely happy again. "I'm sorry it's just..."
"I'm just really happy." Lifting their head up, they flashed their family a wide smile. Lawrence smiled and walked up towards (Y/N), patting their head. The young Rosewood still felt a bit uncomfortable from the touch of an adult man, but didn't seem to flinch anymore when they're around Lawrence.
"Stop crying!" Lawrence chuckled and also felt like he was about to cry as he retracted his hand away from (Y/N)'s head. "Because I'll cry too!"
"Dear, don't." Aurelia groaned and also walked over towards Lawrence and (Y/N). She rubbed on her husband's back in a comforting manner so he wouldn't continue crying but still kept her eyes on (Y/N), who seems to be laughing at their parents.
"Take good care of her, okay?" She said, which earned an enthusiastic nod from (Y/N), but their expression suddenly became surprised as they glanced over at the meowing kitten on their arms.
"She's a girl?"
"Yes. An calm one at that too."
Alem stood up from his seat and walked over to where his parents and (Y/N) were, also smiling from how happy his twin was. "Have you decided on a name yet?"
"Nope! I'll think of something by tomorrow!" (Y/N) grinned happily at their brother before cooing at the black kitten and lifting it up to take a closer look into its eyes.
"Aw your eyes are so pretty!" Complimented (Y/N) as they bring the kitten close to their arms once more. Her eyes were a glistening golden yellow.
"Master Lawrence, would it be alright if we could have a photo of this wonderful occasion?" said Wallace, who walked up to the Rosewoods while holding up a large camera. It looked like a normal camera that muggles use.
"Oh, great idea, Wallace!" said Lawrence before turning over to his family. "Let's take a picture!"
Once the Rosewoods agreed, they all went to positions. (Y/N) and Alem stood next to each other as the older Rosewood twin held the cat up in their arms. Lawrence had his hand around Aurelia's waist and Aurelia had her hand on Alem's shoulder.
"Wait," (Y/N) said before Wallace was about to take a picture. "Come join us, Wallace. You're a part of the family."
"Huh?" Wallace's eyes widened and was about to refuse (Y/N)'s request but the other Rosewoods who agreed with them made it hard to refuse them.
"Yes, Wallace. You can stand next to Alem." Lawrence beckoned over to where his son was before flashing the black haired butler a smile.
"It wouldn't feel complete without you in it." Aurelia nodded in agreement at her husband and her child's words.
"Just set up a timer in the camera and you can leave it over there by the counter." suggested Alem while scooting over a little bit towards (Y/N)'s side to give Wallace some space in the picture.
The black haired man was stunned for a moment. It's certainly been a while since the Rosewoods had a proper family photo; all of them are either busy with school or with work. The last time they did it was when (Y/N) and Alem were still six year olds, and the very first time was when they were still babies.
While Wallace was included in some pictures with either one of the Rosewoods, he definitely wasn't included in family photos, especially since he never saw himself as part of the family. He was way too different to think that he'd ever be in the same league as them; he was a squib and they were wizards and witches, that alone is enough for a comparison.
Sure, he does love the family more than anything else in the world but Wallace himself thought that he was too "tainted" to even be included in their own family photo, and it's not like they ever asked for him to be included in them until now.
Knowing that he can't refuse though, Wallace silently nodded and positioned the muggle camera on the counter so everyone could be included. Setting the camera's timer to fifteen seconds, Wallace walked over to where the Rosewoods were and stood beside Alem, who smiled up at him in comfort.
The sounds of the camera's timer ticking from the counter made everyone arrange themselves to look okay for the picture for a brief moment. (Y/N) looked down at their black cat lovingly, who stared back at them with the same wide golden yellow eyes.
'I don't want to leave.' They thought and lifted their head up to face towards the camera's lens. 'I would never want to leave.'
(Y/N)'s look darkened for a moment and their smile dropped for a second as their dark thoughts eventually came swimming in throughout their mind. 'I'll do anything to protect this happiness of mine... I won't let anyone take it away from me, not even Eri.'
"Alright everybody, smile!" said Lawrence as everyone pulled up a smile for the picture as the camera's ticking timer eventually came to an end.
With a click and a flash, the Rosewood family has gained another family photo with their new family member.

It was around midnight by the time something weird happened to (Y/N).
The people in the house were sound asleep. The twins went to sleep earlier since they were returning to Hogwarts tomorrow and knowing that (Y/N) likes to sleep in a lot, sleeping earlier might make them be early to arrive at King's Cross Station.
(Y/N) thought it was for the best since they definitely didn't want to enter the station with Harry and Ron this year. They didn't want to be expelled by Snape just yet.
Alem, who had his entire body except his head wrapped by his blanket like a burrito, turned sideways on his bed and groaned while he slept. (Y/N) had their small cat sleeping beside them, their own blanket pulled up on the feline's body to make it look like she's actually sleeping like a human being.
They were supposedly going to sleep in until 8 am, until suddenly, their cat snapped awake. The black feline slipped out of the blankets and hopped off of the bed. Stretching their flexible body, she looked around the dark room before her ears picked up a sound from outside.
Looking over at the window of the twins' room, the cat hopped over to some semi-low furniture she could jump on so she could look out the window and see what gotten her awake at this time. As she was doing this, (Y/N) began to snore in their sleep and spread their arms on their bed.
Walter, who woke up from the small sounds that (Y/N)'s cat made, opened his eyes to see what kind of mess she was trying to make. He ended up being curious when she was trying to climb furniture that led to the window and ended up staying awake to observe her.
Once she was able to reach the window and look out, her eyes squinted at a figure of what seems to look like a toddler by the Rosewood's backyard. It seems to be walking in paces nervously as if they didn't know what to do or was pondering if they should even do this in the first place.
The cat found it very amusing how the figure eventually kept banging its head on a tree intentionally like they wanted themselves to get hurt. Seeing that this could be a potential threat, the cat hopped off of the window and tried to climb back towards (Y/N)'s bed to wake them up.
She inched closer towards (Y/N)'s face and patted their nose with their small paw while meowing softly. After a few seconds, (Y/N) woke up briefly from their slumber and looked over to see what woke them up. When they saw that it was just their cat, they groaned and tried to turn over to the side to sleep again.
"Buddy, it's the middle of the night... Let me sleep..." They said groggily. The cat didn't know how to give up so she climbed over (Y/N)'s stomach and tried to keep them awake by softly meowing and patting their nose again.
Groaning defeatedly, (Y/N) fully opened their eyes in annoyance at their new companion. "Alright alright..." They sat up from their bed and rubbed their eyes, obviously very tired and a bit pissed that they were woken up from their sleep. "What is it?" They looked down at the cat, who hopped off of the bed once more and back towards the window where she saw the odd figure.
(Y/N) rolled their eyes and dragged themselves out of their bed with their disheveled pajamas. They initially thought that she just saw some stray dog in the road or in the yard and that it was just nothing. However, when (Y/N) looked out the window and saw the odd pacing figure on the backyard, they immediately became sober like they haven't slept at all.
'Dobby!?' They exclaimed inside their mind. 'What the fuck is he doing here!?' Taking a step back, they started to compose themselves and tried to think straight. However, seeing as they just woke up from a disturbed slumber, they couldn't seem to get their thoughts together at the moment.
'What does he want? Should I go over and meet him? It looks like he won't come up here...' (Y/N) sighed, looked over at their sleeping brother in his bed then at Walter, who looked like he was giving (Y/N) the deadliest glare ever from inside the cage that Garrett owned. Rolling their eyes, they looked back down at their black cat, who was still looking out of the window in wonder.
'If he's here, might as well ask him why.' thought (Y/N) before silently slipping out of the bedroom. Their cat didn't seem to have any intentions of following them and was instead busy staring at the pacing house elf outside of their yard, which was good for them.
Navigating around the house at night when it's dark proved harder for (Y/N) to do when they were trying to meet someone on their yard. The only time when they were out of their room at midnight is to go to the bathroom to pee.
While carefully trying to not make any sounds to alert the entire house and mistaken (Y/N) for a burglar, they eventually were able to slip out of the door and towards the backyard. The air was so chilly during the night that (Y/N) shivered briefly from how cold it was.
"Dobby." They called out to the frantic house elf in the distance in a hushed voice.
Dobby, who heard (Y/N)'s voice and call for his name, turned his head around and looked surprised yet relieved to see the (H/C) haired Rosewood twin seeing him at the dead of the night.
"O-Oh, (Y/N) Rosewood! It's such a pleasure to see you again!" said Dobby in a very loud voice. (Y/N) immediately crouched down and shushed the house elf while having a worried and fearful look on their face.
"Keep it down, Dobby. You'll wake everyone." They said, earning a nod from the house elf who understood what they meant. Dobby looked very sorry for causing (Y/N) trouble, so they sighed and immediately got straight to the point.
"What are you doing here? It's like, 12 am." asked (Y/N) in concern. They definitely didn't want to assume that Dobby was going to try and stop them from going to Hogwarts this year by sabotaging the barrier on the way to school, but seeing as Dobby most likely came here without the Malfoys knowing, he definitely came here to warn them.
"D-Dobby is sorry for c-coming here very l-late, sir/miss." The house elf said in a small whimpering voice as he started pulling on his clothes, which was a dirty pillowcase that were sewn together. "But um... Dobby is here t-to tell (Y/N) Rosewood something v-very important..."
"Something important?"
"Yes, sir/miss... um..." Dobby gulped and hesitated to continue his words for a moment. He glanced up at (Y/N)'s thoughtful yet concerned face before gathering up the courage to tell the young Rosewood his purpose of coming here late at night. "(Y/N) Rosewood must not r-return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry tomorrow."
'Oh shit, I knew it.' (Y/N) leaned away from the house elf with a frown. Sighing through their nose, they began to rake their disheveled hair out of their face with their fingers. "...Why?"
Dobby immediately felt small under (Y/N)'s calculative gaze that he was intimidated by how calm they were, as opposed to Harry, who looked like he was about to die the moment Dobby told him to not return to Hogwarts this year.
"S-Something... something terrible is about to take place in Hogwarts this year, sir/miss..." said Dobby with a fearful look. "Dobby does not wish for (Y/N) Rosewood, who was kind to Dobby during their visit to the Malfoy Manor, to be involved and... and possibly get hurt by this..."
(Y/N) paused, their frown only deepening as seconds pass by. The chill air from the night isn't even bothering them anymore as they were occupied with the thoughts of how to convince Dobby to not stop them from going to Hogwarts tomorrow.
'If I overreact like Harry did, Dobby will most likely take drastic measures to not let me attend Hogwarts this year... I need to be calm about this and negotiate if I can.' They thought before opening their mouth to speak.
"Dobby, you said that something terrible is going to happen at Hogwarts this year. Can you tell me what exactly it is so we can prevent it?" asked (Y/N), even though they didn't need to since they already knew what was going to happen anyway. The question alone made Dobby shudder in fear and take a step back from the young Rosewood like they were a monster that was going to eat them.
"D-Dobby cannot... Dobby cannot say, sir/miss..." said the house elf as he began to shiver. "It is... It is too dangerous... Too dangerous for (Y/N) Rosewood and Harry Potter to return to Hogwarts this year."
"Harry?" asked (Y/N) while trying to make themselves look and sound as confused as possible. "What's Harry got to do with this?"
"Oh yes... Yes, yes... Dobby has heard that (Y/N) Rosewood and Harry Potter are really good friends..." The house elf began playing with his long bandaged fingers nervously. "Too good in fact that Harry Potter almost-" Suddenly, Dobby stopped talking and immediately walked over to the nearby tree where Garrett always sat on during the day.
Without hesitation, the house elf began to continuously hit his head on the tree trunk. The sounds of thuds that Dobby did as he continued bashing his head in sounded loud enough for Wallace or anyone from the house to wake up. Hastily, (Y/N) ran over towards Dobby and pulled him away from the trunk to stop himself.
"Don't do that! You'll wake everyone and stop hurting yourself so much!" Hissed (Y/N). They were about to scold him more but once they saw Dobby's large eyes that were almost wet with tears, they felt bad and decided to let it go with a defeated sigh.
"Dobby had to do it, sir/miss. Dobby almost spoke ill of Harry Potter himself to (Y/N) Rosewood and Dobby could never forgive himself if he ever did such a thing..." The house elf sniffled and began to pat underneath his eyes for tears using the ends of his pillowcase clothing.
'Huh, weird...' thought (Y/N). They never thought that Dobby would be able to think or say something like that to Harry since they always got the vibe that Dobby gushes out about how great Harry is, especially when the two first met.
"A-Alright then... I mean, I understand that it might be really dangerous and life-threatening to go to Hogwarts this year, considering that you came here at 12 AM just to warn me of all this..." said (Y/N) as they went back to the original topic.
Dobby's eyes twinkled happily as he looked up at the Rosewood. "T-Then, will (Y/N) Rosewood not return to Hogwarts this year?"
Sighing, (Y/N) sent the house elf and apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, Dobby, but I still need to go this year. If this threat is too dangerous that you had to warn me and Harry, I can't just leave him, my friends, and my brother alone at school."
"B-But..." Dobby's hopeful expression dropped to sadness. "But (Y/N) Rosewood must not go. Dobby needs to stop (Y/N) Rosewood and Harry Potter from going back to Hogwarts... Dobby cannot let (Y/N) Rosewood and Harry Potter get in danger!" His voice was now loud and frantic, almost as if he was desperate to make the young Rosewood re-think about their decision.
"Dobby, shh...!" They shushed the house elf, who clearly wasn't listening as he continued to sob and hit his head again on the tree trunk. "Dobby...! Dobby, listen to me!" In an attempt to quiet the house elf, (Y/N) pulled him away from the tree once more and took him by his shoulders to make sure he was looking straight at them.
"Look, I know that this is difficult for you and I understand that you just want to save us, but you have to trust me on this." said (Y/N). "I'll be fine this year. Nothing bad is going to happen to me and I'll try to look after Harry if it makes you feel less worried about this whole thing. You have my word."
Dobby shook his head and frowned at them. "(Y/N) Rosewood does not understand... (Y/N) Rosewood alone is not capable of saving Harry Potter from the tragedy that is about to happen..."
"I said I'll try. I may not be able to save him completely but I'll always be there for him. You care for Harry, don't you? Then, you have to trust me and let me return to Hogwarts." said (Y/N) as a one last chance to try and convince Dobby. The house elf sighed defeatedly and tragically looked at the young Rosewood with saddened wide eyes.
"...Dobby cannot stop (Y/N) Rosewood from returning to Hogwarts, but Dobby must do all he can to stop Harry Potter." said Dobby as he took a step back from (Y/N) and retracted away from their hold. "Harry Potter is too great... too important to lose. (Y/N) Rosewood cannot stop all the terrible things that are about to happen at Hogwarts, even if young master Malfoy often speaks of your greatness..."
"I know I can't stop them, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna try." replied (Y/N) with a small embarrassed blush and ignored Dobby's comment of Draco talking about them in the Manor. "And knowing Harry, he's going to say the same thing if he was here right now. Knowing Harry, he'll definitely go to Hogwarts this year, even with you trying to stop him."
Dobby whimpered at this and almost looked like he was about to sob again. The idea of failing at his duty to save the great Harry Potter seemed too much for him to bear.
"Dobby knows that, sir/miss... Harry Potter has already made up his mind of returning to Hogwarts tomorrow."
"Then how about this," (Y/N) raised their dominant hand and lifted their pinky finger up for Dobby to see. "Since you're so worried that Harry and I might end up being in danger this year, I promise to look after him this entire time and make sure he won't get into any trouble. I, too, promise that I won't get into any trouble and possibly die."
"When you're not around, I'll try to protect him along with my friends and my brother. I'll look after myself too. That way, you should be feeling a little bit relieved that we're looking for each other's backs." They added as a small smile made its way to (Y/N)'s lips, much to the surprise of Dobby. He looked at the raised pinky finger in confusion, wondering if this was some sort of punishment he was going to get.
(Y/N), who noticed Dobby's confusion, began to explain. "This is a pinky promise. It's kinda like the muggle's version of the Unbreakable Vow." They said. "For this to work, you have to lock your tiny pinky finger... Yeah, that one... lock it around mine."
Dobby curiously looked over at his smallest finger, which was still longer than (Y/N)'s, and locked it on their pinky finger. The two fingers curled against each other as Dobby still looked a bit confused, like a lost puppy who didn't know what he was doing.
After a few seconds, (Y/N) smiled and retracted their own finger away from Dobby's. "The pinky promise has been made. If one of us breaks it, the other person has the right to break the pinky finger of the one who broke the promise."
Dobby was still a bit too stunned to speak but eventually regained his composure and realized what just happened. "Dobby... Dobby also promises to look after (Y/N) Rosewood and Harry Potter..." He said, making the young Rosewood feel a bit defeated since Dobby's way of 'looking after' someone isn't really safe.
But they knew they couldn't say that out loud.
"Y-Yeah..." They managed to say.
"Should Dobby fail to keep (Y/N) Rosewood and Harry Potter safe, Dobby shall cut off his own finger." He said with an oddly determined expression which didn't fit with his small and wobbly voice.
"Y-You don't need to do that." said (Y/N), knowing that Dobby is capable of doing such things if it really comes down to it. "Anyway, you should get home and rest. I should get back to sleep too since I'll be early tomorrow."
Dobby watched as (Y/N) stood up and dusted off any dirt that might've gotten on their rear end. "Good night, Dobby." They said and waved at the house elf before entering the house, locking the door and walking back to their own room.
Outside, Dobby stared up to the window where (Y/N)'s cat was still watching them. As soon as she noticed that he was looking at her, the cat hopped out of the window.
Dobby looked down at his bare feet, feeling the cold touch of the grass underneath his calloused soles. Sighing, he apparated back to the Malfoy Manor in some room where he knew he couldn't be seen.
Merlin knows how much punishment he'd get from Lucius if he knew that his house elf just went off somewhere without his permission.

"Alem, come on! It's almost 11, we're gonna miss it!"
"W-Wait! I'm still trying to- Garrett, stop trying to pick off some treats from the pouch!"
It was the next day. The Rosewoods were as lively as ever when the day for their return to one of the greatest magical schools in the world has arrived.
Aurelia and Lawrence followed their children from behind with a smile as they held hands together and passed through a flock of muggles who were looking at (Y/N) and Alem as if they were abnormal. Wallace followed beside Lawrence with his hands behind his back while observing some of the wizards and witches from the crowd that blended in with the muggles.
While the Rosewoods did wear muggle clothing to not stand out unlike the others, (Y/N) and Alem's trolley cart full of odd items that aren't normally seen by muggles kind of makes that pointless, especially Alem's owl, Garrett, is making quite a ruckus in his cage.
"I've never seen Garrett that noisy before." commented (Y/N) as they continued to push their cart through the crowd beside Alem. "Did you give him something to eat before we left?"
"I did. I'm not going to let him get hungry when he's going to get taken away in a different car." said Alem with a sigh, who was now trying to keep the large pouch of owl treats that he got from the owl emporium in Diagon Alley.
"It's a good thing they don't take away cats. Do you reckon it's because they might assault the owls when they're left alone or something?" asked (Y/N) while looking down at their cat's cage, which had their small black cat sleeping inside peacefully.
"Cats won't just fly off if you leave them alone, (Y/N)." replied Alem. "And who would just leave cats and owls alone in the same room? That's a recipe for disaster."
"We kept Sophie in our room last night though and nothing happened."
"Compared to other cats, Sophie is more behaved now. Besides, she's a kitten. Give it a year and she'll try and murder Garrett in his sleep."
"No, she won't. She's a sweet little cat. Aren't you, Sophie?" (Y/N) cooed at her sleeping cat, who they named as Sophie, inside her cage. Sophie didn't reply and just kept on sleeping, which (Y/N) didn't mind.
Alem rolled his eyes at this and they continued walking until they saw the familiar brick entrance that would lead them to platform 9¾. It almost felt nostalgic, even though they've only been gone from school for 2 months.
"Aw, it feels good to be back here again." said (Y/N) as they stretched their arms and glanced over at the crowd of muggles to see if they could recognize some familiar faces that they haven't seen in a while.
"We feel the same thing since we graduated nineteen years ago." commented Lawrence and almost looked like he was reminiscing a memory of attending Hogwarts with Aurelia when he was still a young teenager.
"You two should hurry on. It's almost 11 and you don't want to miss the train." said Aurelia and watched as the twins nodded, readying themselves to run through the brick wall.
Taking a deep breath, (Y/N) was the first to run through, followed by Alem. They almost felt scared that the brick wall might not transport them to platform 9¾ since they remembered that Dobby had the ability to close the barrier of the platform at will.
However, their worries were washed away when they heard the familiar sounds of owls hooting from cages and the sounds of steam coming out from the Hogwarts Express. Breathing out a sigh of relief, (Y/N) pushed their trolley cart to somewhere more deserted so they could spot and wait for their parents and Wallace to come find them.
Alem eventually joined them after a few seconds of trying to find their twin in a sea of witches and wizards.
As Aurelia, Wallace, and Lawrence passed through the barrier, (Y/N) was a bit surprised to see the familiar patch of red heads following behind them. The Weasley children pushed their trolleys towards the train to embark it since it was about to leave in a few minutes.
Fred and George caught sight of the Rosewood twins and gave them a brief enthusiastic wave before entering the train themselves. Percy acknowledged them with a nod, and Ginny looked a bit disturbed when her eyes landed on (Y/N) for some reason but seemed to have regained some of her composure when she weakly smiled at Alem.
The only Weasley child that wasn't with them was Ron, which was to be expected since he was going to be with Harry when he drives the Ford Anglia to arrive at Hogwarts.
Behind Lawrence, Aurelia, and Wallace were Mr and Mrs. Weasley. They seemed to be chatting about some stuff that (Y/N) and Alem couldn't hear but they didn't bother to listen any further since they knew that their conversation topic would be way out of their league.
"Mum, we're going now." said Alem before turning over towards Molly and Arthur. "Nice to see you again, Mr and Mrs. Wealsey." He said with a smile.
"Nice to see you too, Alem dear." said Molly as Arthur nodded at him.
Lawrence knew that the twins already met the Weasleys before so he thought that introductions were unnecessary. Aurelia reminded the twins things that they needed to do in Hogwarts this year, such as doing well on their studies, looking out for each other, not causing any trouble, etc.
"And always remember to look after Sophie, alright? Let her wear that collar I packed on your bag before you enter the castle so you'd know it's her." said Aurelia as she glanced over towards (Y/N). The older twin nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, mum."
"I'll miss you two." said Lawrence, whose eyes started tearing up again. "It feels like yesterday when you two first arrived here at the platform. You were so small back then."
"Dad, you're making it sound like we'll be gone for six years." said Alem with a sigh.
"It feels like it!"
"We'll be seeing each other during Christmas, and that's two months from now!"
Suddenly, the train whistled, indicating that it was almost time for it to depart. "See you this Christmas!" With one last group hug from the Rosewoods together, Alem and (Y/N) dashed towards the train as they said their goodbyes to their parents, Wallace, and Mr and Mrs. Weasley, leaving their luggage in a car that was full of other students' luggage.
Passing through some students in the train hallways that (Y/N) recognized, their eyes scanned for some compartments that were empty so they could sit down and wait until they arrived at Hogwarts.
In some compartments, (Y/N) recognized some familiar faces who were also talking to other students. They recognized Oliver Wood talking to Angelina Johnson, probably about some Quidditch strategies that only they could relate to. They also recognized Neville Longbottom, who was talking to Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan. It looked weird to (Y/N) that the chubby boy wasn't holding his pet toad, Trevor, but remembered that he met his sudden death at the end of his first year.
(Y/N) still couldn't understand why Trevor had died so early when he was certainly still with Neville by his third year.
In one compartment, (Y/N) saw Ginny and Luna Lovegood talking to each other. Ginny looked understandably confused by Luna, to which (Y/N) could only assume that Luna was probably starting to talk about wrackspurts or nargles, or whatever odd creatures that came into her mind.
Ginny noticed the Rosewood twins passing by and a flicker of distrust flashed through her eyes when she looked at (Y/N). Feeling awkward, (Y/N) immediately followed after Alem to excuse themselves.
They felt happy that they could finally see Luna and Ginny during this school year, even if Ginny was acting really odd. They always found Luna to be a really interesting character and they even thought that she was underrated in the series. Hogwarts was certainly going to be more fun with these two around now.
As (Y/N) was starting to imagine how they could end up being friends with the peculiar platinum blonde haired girl, they felt their shoulder being bumped by someone. They turned around to see who they bumped into.
"Oh, I'm so sorry..." The person who (Y/N) bumped into was a boy. He looked shorter than them and had the same familiar wavy brown curls and bright blue eyes that (Y/N) recognized from somewhere.
"S-Sorry..." stuttered (Y/N) in a daze and only watched as the familiar boy walked away and scanned through the compartments as well. They tried to rack their brain to remember where they had seen the boy before until they realized that they also saw him when they went to Diagon Alley last month.
'He's that dude that I also bumped into when I left Magical Menagerie. He's attending Hogwarts too? He looked like he was nine years old back then...' They thought as they continued to follow Alem through the train. 'Still, I can't shake off the feeling that I've definitely seen him somewhere before, I just don't know where. He looks a lot like Cedric but younger and has a curlier hair.'
They shook their head at the ridiculous idea and thought that it might be the time to let it go. 'I've seen plenty of curly haired boys before. Maybe I just confused him for one of them.'
As they walked deeper towards the train for any available compartments, both of the twins were unaware of a certain red-haired girl looking at them with a calculative and suspicious look in her eyes from the door of her compartment.
Before anyone else could get suspicious, she retreated back into her own seat and started to think about what a certain diary has been telling her these past few weeks, ignoring the dazed-looking girl who sat across and started reading a magazine upside down.
Ginny herself felt relieved that she told him about (Y/N) and Alem. He was right - there's no one else who understood her more than him.
There's no one else who knew more than him.
She could trust him. After all, he's been her friend this entire time - why would Tom manipulate her? What would he gain from a twelve year old girl?
Ginny had to take his word for it;
The Rosewood twins are not to be trusted. They are not her friends.
