II - XX:「The Boy Across The Street」
❝I don't want to share you with anyone,
They don't deserve you; I do❞
»»----- ♡ -----««
Morning arrived in a blink of an eye - the sun light pierced through the curtains of the rooms where the Rosewoods resided in.
(Y/N)'s eyes gently fluttered open, feeling the warmth of the sun hit their skin. They groan for a second before sitting up from their bed and stretching their arms.
It was the first time where (Y/N) woke up early in the morning during summer. It wasn't often that this senior high school teenager woke up early in the morning during summer, as they mostly see no point in having to start their day early when they can just end the day quickly by waking up at 2 pm.
They don't really do anything other than sleep, watch series, and gawk over Harry Potter by reading fanfictions or watching clips from the movies in YouTube.
(Y/N) glanced over at the window as they rubbed their eyes to remove any sands that might've gotten in the corner of their eyes.
'Uh... judging from the somewhat warm-ish light in the window, I guess it's pretty early in the morning.' They thought and yawned once again.
'I wish I had my phone to tell me what time it is.' (Y/N) added in their thoughts. They couldn't lie that they missed playing some modern songs from their phone's music playlist and sang along with them every morning.
(Y/N) glanced over beside them and saw Alem still sleeping peacefully on his bed, with his blankets wrapped around him like he's a burrito.
A drool was trickling down to his chin, making (Y/N) chuckle but didn't try to wake him up.
"He's so ugly when he sleeps..." (Y/N) mumbled to themselves before their stomach grumbled, making them groan slightly and slip out of their bed.
'I wonder if there's food downstairs.' They thought, but then remembered something that made them scrunch their face in annoyance.
'Sweet Merlin, I hope that old bitch and her sugar daddy ain't here anymore.' They silently prayed before gently opening the door and slipping out of the room, careful not to wake Alem up.
(Y/N) gently closed the door behind them and slowly made their way downstairs. They could hear some utensils clanking from the kitchen, so they assume that it's either Wallace or Aurelia cooking up breakfast.
Once they reached the kitchen, they took a peek inside and saw Wallace preparing ingredients and some kitchen utensils sprawled along the counter.
"Good morning, Wallace." They yawned once more as they fully entered the kitchen. "What'cha cooking?"
"Oh! You startled me, young mistress/master...!" Wallace's shoulders jumped at the voice and appearance of (Y/N) as he clutched his chest to compose himself. "Good morning. I'll be cooking some eggs and bacons for you and young master, would that be alright?"
"Huh?" (Y/N), still feeling a bit dazed after just having woken up, immediately realized what Wallace just asked and nodded. "Uh, yeah sure! No problem."
Wallace sends them a smile and continued to cook up breakfast for the twins. (Y/N) rubbed the back of their neck and looked around the empty kitchen.
"So, Wallace, uh..." (Y/N) walked over towards the dining table and took a seat. "Where's Lin- I mean, grandmother?"
"Madame? She's already head back to France with Monsieur Lawrence." Wallace replied. "Oh, Mistress Aurelia already went to the Ministry earlier this morning."
"Huh? Wait, what time is it?" (Y/N) titled their head to the side, confused as to why their mother goes to work that early.
"It's currently 8 am, young mistress/master." Wallace smiled at (Y/N). "Mistress Aurelia left at 5 am as Mr. Barty Crouch Snr called her for duty."
'Barty Crouch Snr? He's the head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation...' (Y/N) thought, not responding to Wallace as they immediately retreated back to their own thoughts.
'I guess that makes sense as to why mum wasn't able to come home during Christmas, though I wonder what father's work is...' They added, and watched as Wallace continued to cook - placing a clean pan on the stove and turning it on.
'Maybe I should ask Wallace but... he'll think that it's weird if I ask what my father's work is, when I clearly should know what it is...' They suddenly became troubled as they were extremely curious of what their father's work was, until a figure entered the kitchen.
Speak of the devil, Lawrence rushed inside the kitchen with his disheveled (H/C) hair and uneven brown coat hanging by his right shoulder.
"Good morning, Master Lawrence." Wallace bowed at Lawrence as he entered the kitchen. The Ravenclaw nodded at Wallace, acknowledging his presence.
"Father?" (Y/N) became sober as soon as they saw Lawrence looking freaking out. "What's wrong?"
"I'm late for work; Bones is going to murder me." Lawrence's words were fast but (Y/N) could understand what he said, making them curious once more.
They don't know any other Bones in the Harry Potter series, other than Susan Bones, the student that was sorted in Hufflepuff.
"Oh right, (Y/N)... Your mother told me to go give that young boy Zeke some cupcakes that she baked yesterday." Lawrence said as he walked over to the counter and grabbed a slice of bread, placing it on his mouth while combing his hair with his long fingers.
"Zeke?" (Y/N) loudly asked, making Lawrence turn to look at them weirdly.
"Zeke? The boy you have a crush on?" Lawrence's eyebrow rose in confusion, as if he's wondering if there's any other Zeke that he doesn't know of.
(Y/N) nodded slowly, and then let out a forced laugh while waving their hands exaggeratedly. "O-Oh, Zeke! Yeah sure, I'll bring him the cupcakes! No problem!"
Lawrence paused for a second, before sighing and sending (Y/N) a smile. "You really should get some more sleep, (Y/N)."
"I'll be going now." Lawrence walked over to (Y/N) and leaned down, kissing their forehead.
(Y/N) flinched at the sudden contact of their father's lips on their forehead, and immediately felt uncomfortable. They knew it was a gesture of parents kissing their kids goodbye before they go to work, but they couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of dread hanging over their head.
Before (Y/N) could react completely, Lawrence already retracted away from them and rushed over to the kitchen doorway, facing Wallace with a smile.
"Please look after them while we're gone." He briefly told Wallace before rushing out of the house.
"Master Lawrence, please wear your coat appropriately before going out." Wallace called out at Lawrence before he completely left the house, making the Ravenclaw exclaim and arrange his coat for a few seconds.
"Thank you, Wallace! I'll be going out now!" Lawrence called out one last time before shutting the front door close and leaving the Rosewood household.
(Y/N) sighed, feeling the dread leave their head as they leaned their head on the dining table. "I feel bad for not even being able to say goodbye..." They mumbled to themselves, and started to feel annoyed with themselves for feeling this way against a man, who most likely wouldn't do the things that their old father has done to them when they were a child.
Even if (Y/N) has only known Lawrence for a day, they could tell that he's such a goofy dorky father that they've never had the privilege of having. They could tell that Lawrence is very supportive of them and Alem, and his love for Aurelia is so clear, that it even makes them smile unconsciously.
(Y/N) sighed once more, burying their face in their arms as they closed their eyes to try and get their head straight.
"Young mistress/master, are you alright?" Wallace asked, glancing over at (Y/N) with a worried look on his face.
"Oh, I'm fine." (Y/N)'s head immediately rose from their arms, smiling up at Wallace to reassure him that there's nothing wrong.
Wallace frowned, and felt as if he understood what (Y/N) is feeling at the moment, especially since it's just the second day of summer and their parents are already off to work.
Aurelia and Lawrence have always been busy with the Ministry ever since they were children. Wallace has always been there to try and keep them company, but even with his constant work around the house, he couldn't even give them attention all the time.
That's why he's always thankful to the Miller family, especially Zeke, for being friends with (Y/N) and Alem. He kept them company most of the time, even with his disability.
Knowing how kindhearted (Y/N) was, they didn't mind if Zeke had a disability and would be more than glad to keep him company as well. As for Alem, it was nice enough for him to have his first friend, other than (Y/N).
Wallace sighed silently as he opened his mouth to try and cheer them up.
"Young mistress/master, I do hope you won't hold it against your parents for not being able to spend more time with you and your brother." Wallace said sadly, making (Y/N) feel shocked for what he said.
They didn't expect Wallace to say that, and their parents going off to work didn't even cross their mind.
"Huh? Why would I hold it against them?" (Y/N) smiled, tilting their head to the side in curiosity. "It doesn't bother me that they're off to work most of the time - I understand that they have to be, anyway."
"It doesn't?" Wallace's eyebrow quirked up, a bit shocked and confused that it doesn't bother them. (Y/N) Rosewood always vented to him about how Lawrence and Aurelia were always off to work, but understood that they had to be.
They just couldn't help feeling a bit distant from their parents everyday, though they do appreciate how Lawrence and Aurelia tried their hardest to take day offs and spend the rest of the days with them.
Well, the old (Y/N) Rosewood did, anyway.
"I mean, yeah." (Y/N) shrugged nonchalantly. "Adults always have to go to work so..."
Wallace paused, before smiling and flipping the eggs upside down. "You've really changed once you went to Hogwarts, young mistress/master."
"Hm?" (Y/N) asked.
"You always came to me about how Mistress Aurelia and Master Lawrence weren't always there for you and young master Alem." said Wallace, as he grabbed two plates and placed the two cooked eggs on each plates.
"I do wish I could give you more attention, but I'm also often busy with household chores." Wallace sadly sighed and walked over to the counter, placing the two plates to the side as he grabbed the four strips of bacons and placed them on the pan.
(Y/N) watched as he did this, resting their chin on the palm of their dominant hand. "Sounds like I used to be such an ignorant pissbaby." They commented with a scoff, making Wallace's eyes widen at how they described themselves as, especially with somewhat vulgar words.
"That's... quite a way to describe yourself..." Wallace blinked and watched the strips of bacons sizzling on the pan. "I do advise you to not use such words very often - Mistress Aurelia wouldn't want to hear you and young master Alem use such words."
"Oh, don't worry, Wallace." (Y/N) waved their hand dismissively with a smile. "I don't use such words often. Well, verbally, that is."
Wallace sighed at this and flipped the strips of bacons. "I wonder what your teachers are teaching you young ones at Hogwarts."
"Oh, by the way, Wallace!" (Y/N) stood up from their seat, looking very excited with their disheveled (H/C) hair that almost matched Lawrence's just a while ago. "I learned a lot of cool spells while I was at Hogwarts, do you wanna see them!?"
"That would be wonderful, young mistress/master," Wallace said as he turned the stove off. "But, wouldn't it be against the rules for you and young master Alem to be doing magic before the age of seventeen?"
"Oh... that's right." (Y/N)'s excitement plummeted, their shoulders slumping. They sat down and mentally cursed themselves for forgetting something important. "That rule kinda sucks, to be honest; what if something dangerous happens to us while we're out?"
"The possibility is almost zero for someone or something to attack young children, such as yourself, young mistress/master." Wallace replied. "Though, if something does happen, I believe Master Lawrence could help make an exception for you - he does work in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement."
'Huh... Is he an auror or something?' (Y/N) felt curious and interested once more.
"What division does he work in again?" They asked, silently hoping that Wallace wouldn't suspect them for asking such a weird question.
"I thought you remember the division he works in, young mistress/master." Wallace's eyebrow rose in confusion.
"I...I just forgot; it's been a long time since I've c-come home so..." (Y/N) nervously chuckled, now hoping that Wallace would buy the lie.
The man sighed, and grabbed the two plates on the counter. "Well, I did not expect you to have a poor memory, young mistress/master." He said as he placed two bacons on each plates. "No offense, of course. I do acknowledge that you are one of the smartest witches/wizards I've ever seen."
"Hogwarts fried my brain; I had to keep track of the abnormal amount of essays Professor Snape handed out to us every week, and I had to practice my transfiguration charms for Professor McGonagall's performance tasks." (Y/N) groaned as they recalled those memories. It doesn't help that they had to check their spellings and grammar everytime they had to hand out their essays to Snape; one single mistake would cost them an arm.
"It's very exhausting, to say the least." They added with a sigh.
"I can see that." Wallace laughed as he walked over towards the table, handing out a plate in front of (Y/N), and placing the other plate across them. "Master Lawrence works in the Wizengamot Administration Services division."
'Wizengamot... Isn't that the magical court that the pink toad bitch works in?' (Y/N) thought bitterly to themselves, and the thought their father and Umbridge interacting with one another made them pissed.
While (Y/N) isn't very attached to Lawrence that much yet, they absolutely wouldn't want any of their family members to be interacting with her.
They're not even prepared on meeting her once their fifth year begins. They can already imagine themselves slapping Umbridge across the country when they see her alone in a hallway.
"O-Oh yeah, the Wizengamot division! Mhm!" (Y/N) said, nodding exaggeratedly. "Thanks for making me remember, Wallace!"
"It's no problem at all - I'm glad I could be of use to you, young mistress/master." Wallace smiled down at (Y/N), wiping his hands with a handkerchief.
"Could I ask you to please wake young master Alem for breakfast?" He asked. "Well, before it gets cold."
"No need, Wallace." A familiar voice made all of their heads turn towards the kitchen doorway, where Alem stepped inside with his pyjamas and his messy (H/C) hair.
He yawned and rubbed his right eye, still feeling tired and dazed. "Good morning." He said with a wobbly voice.
"Good morning, bro!"
"Good morning, young master."
After rubbing his eye, Alem tiredly walked over to the table and sat across (Y/N). "Good to see you wake up earlier than me this time, (Y/N)." He said, smirking at his twin.
"That's because I slept early." (Y/N) rolled their eyes and watched as Wallace grabbed two glasses from the cupboard. Alem chuckled, but stopped as soon as he realized that the house was a bit... quieter than usual.
"Where's mum and dad?" He asked.
"They went to work, bro." (Y/N) replied, staring down at their plate with a drool almost coming out of their mouth.
"Oh, I see..." Alem said, sadly.
Wallace noticed Alem's sudden change of tone as he grabbed the two glasses of apple of juice and walked over to the table. The butler frowned, not wanting to see any of the Rosewood children sad.
"Young master, how would you like me to go to the high street and get the new copy of The Neverland's Promise?" Wallace asked, placing the glasses of apple juice in front of the twins.
(Y/N) smiled widely at the sight of the apple juice being placed in front of them, not really paying attention to what Wallace was saying.
"Thank you, Wallace." Alem smiled sadly at Wallace. "But, I don't want to cause you trouble by having you go to the high street and buy only one book."
"Goodness me, what makes you think it will cause me trouble?" Wallace looked shocked. "I would be more than happy to be able to help you, as long as it makes you and young mistress/master (Y/N) happy."
"Hm?" (Y/N)'s ears perked up at the mention of their name, their head raising up with their mouth full of fried eggs.
Alem cringed at the sight of his twin before smiling appreciatively at Wallace. "Thank you, Wallace... Really."
"Oh, bhy dh whuh...!" (Oh, by the way...!) (Y/N) spoke before swallowing the chewed up fried eggs. "I was about to show Wallace some spells we learned in Hogwarts, but I just remembered that we can't use magic outside of Hogwarts if we're not seventeen yet!"
"Huh? Who told you that we can't use magic outside of Hogwarts?" Alem asked, his eyebrow quirking up in confusion.
"Uh... the law?" (Y/N) replied.
"Well, it's true that we shouldn't use magic outside of Hogwarts when we're not seventeen yet, but it's not like we can't use magic inside magical households like ours." Alem responded, grabbing a fork and cutting the egg in half with it. "If we do perform magic in Zeke's house, then I do think we'll get punished for that."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense." (Y/N) said, shoving another egg on their mouth. "So, we can perform magic in a magical household, and as long as muggles aren't around us or something like that?"
"I'm not... really sure? The law against underaged magic is very loose, though I do think it's fine if we show Wallace some magic we learned, as long as they're harmless and we perform them in this house only." Alem shrugged his shoulders, placing the cut fried egg inside his mouth and chewing it.
(Y/N) swallowed their food, and looked up at Wallace with a smile. "That's great! We can show you the magic we learned last year!" They stood up from their seat, excited to demonstrate them to someone. "Hold on, I'll get our wands real quick!"
With that, (Y/N) dashed out of the kitchen. Alem sighed and continued eating his breakfast as usual.
"That (Y/N)... They're so energetic already and it's not even noon yet." stated Alem, who slightly pulled up a smile since he does like seeing (Y/N) being like that.
"Well, that is what we all like about them, is it not?" Wallace lets out a chuckle, observing the tiny twelve year old climb up the stairs with a grin.
Alem didn't reply to that, and he suddenly remembered the day when (Y/N) "lost" their memories.
He couldn't exactly tell if something or someone replaced (Y/N) entirely since they do still act like (Y/N) Rosewood. The only difference is that this (Y/N) seems to know things that no other witches or wizards could probably forsee.
Well, other than seers.
Alem even found the short-lived rumor, that his twin was a seer, to be ridiculous. He knows himself that, while (Y/N) Rosewood possessed a great amount of magic, they didn't learn clairvoyance or anything of the sort.
What Alem didn't understand is that (Y/N)'s magical powers was even weaker than his, considering that (Y/N) Rosewood surpassed him in terms of magical power and talent.
They were already able to control some their magic at the age of eight, even performing intentional wandless magic, though that only happened twice.
Needless to say, (Y/N) Rosewood was an extremely talented witch/wizard. It was expected, as they were a pureblood and part of the Sacred Twenty-Nine.
Alem was talented as well, but he was only second to (Y/N) Rosewood. Which is why it was a shock for him to see (Y/N) lose control of their broom, lack stamina to be able to perform magic correctly, lack the magical power to be able to perform abnormally strong spells that (Y/N) Rosewood used to do.
He felt like they weren't (Y/N) Rosewood when it comes to magic, but acted like them when they were casual.
Though, (Y/N) Rosewood's magical power is slowly seeping itself to (Y/N) as the year continues. They were able to perform spells and let them have destructive effects on the target, and this was made clear when they fought the troll under the trapdoor.
Alem sighed once more. 'Maybe... Does that person named 'Eri' has to do with this?' He suddenly recalled the odd moment when he eavesdropped on (Y/N) talking to Erised.
No person in the castle was named 'Eri'. So, this naturally confused him, unless (Y/N) was only talking to themselves and acting like a crazed maniac,
which is impossible; the (Y/N) Rosewood who he looks up to wouldn't act like that.
"Wallace," Alem called for his attention, making the man turn his attention towards him. "Do you think that (Y/N)... changed at all?"
Wallace was a bit startled at his question, but pondered for a moment for his reply. He paused, then opened his mouth once he found his answer.
"Well, young mistress/master (Y/N) certainly changed; they've become more... assertive and understanding when it comes to certain situations." Wallace replied, smiling at Alem. "Their fun, and energetic self hasn't changed at all, and I'm quite relieved of that."
"Though, if there's one thing I've noticed about them, it's that they often have this look in their eyes that I cannot seem to explain." Wallace added, recalling the somewhat fearful look (Y/N) had when Lawrence did the gesture of kissing their forehead before leaving. "It looks like they've seen certain things that only they've been able to see - both good and bad things."
"I... see." is all that Alem could respond to Wallace's answers. He thought again for a moment, trying to come up to a conclusion for his inner conflict about (Y/N), until his eyes drifted over to the window.
It showed the house of the Millers, which was just across their own. He looked over to a specific window at the house, knowing the boy who would often look out the window would always be there, sitting on his bed.
Alem's mind clicked, an idea coming into his mind. There's only one person that (Y/N) Rosewood would never forget, yet on the train, the very person that they have feelings for,
suddenly disappeared from their mind like he was nothing.
'That's right... Zeke.' Alem thought as his eyes drifted over to (Y/N), who entered the kitchen with a gleeful look on their face and two wands held on their dominant hand.
'There's no way they would just forget about him.'

I flicked my wand over to the loaf of bread that sat on the kitchen counter with a smile. "And this one spell enlarges an item!"
"Engorgio!" I cast, making the loaf grow rapidly in size. I started to freak out when the loaf almost hit the ceiling, but it stopped growing before it can even destroy it.
Although, the counter is doing its very best to hold the giant loaf.
"Uh, I might've gotten... a bit too far with it." I scratched the back of my head, letting out a nervous chuckle.
"'A bit too far' is an understatement!" Alem exclaimed as he stared up at the giant loaf, shock written all over his features. "Hurry up and shrink it!"
"A-Ah... um...!" I began to panic and pointed my wand at the loaf. "Reducio!" I cast, making the loaf shrink,
and reduce to an even smaller size than to how it was originally.
Alem and I rushed over to the counter where the loaf sat. It suddenly became as small as a cap of a bottle.
I scratched my head as I glanced down at my wand, clueless as to why this was happening. Do I really have lack of control over my magic?
"That's weird..." I commented.
"Weird, indeed." Wallace walked over to us and glanced down at my wand with a skeptical look on his face. "You've always had magnificent control over your magic, young mistress/master - it even amazed Madame Linda because of how talented you already were at a young age."
Damn, so I was already a prodigy at a young age. I'm evolving, but backwards.
"I don't know why this happens to me everytime I use magic recently." I sigh, plopping my wand to the counter. "They either become too destructive, going out of control, or I lack the magic power to even perform it correctly."
"I mean, in other occasions, I can perform spells just fine, but in times like these, they get out of control." I added as I picked up the small loaf from the counter, examining it.
"Don't you think that it might have something to do with your emotions, (Y/N)?" Alem responded. "In other occasions where you can perform spells just fine, you were stable and had confidence in your skills, which is why you can perform them easily without any trouble at all."
"But, I'm stable now." I replied as I placed the small loaf back on the counter. "I don't really feel anything negative, so I don't get it."
"No, you weren't really that stable; you were panicking to cast Reducio when I told you to shrink it." He said. "When you started to panic when you casted Engorgio, the growth of the loaf stopped."
"It's kinda creepy how you observe me so closely, even when casting spells, Alem." I joked as I rake my fingers through my hair, a smirk being pulled in the corner of my lips.
"I-" Alem became flustered and looked away. "I'm always observant towards other people when they're casting spells!" He said.
I just laughed at him and waved my hand dismissively, finding amusement in making fun of my brother. "I'm just joking, Alem - I appreciate the fact that you're, at least, trying to help out."
"I do wish I could help you more, young mistress/master (Y/N). However, as I'm inexperienced with the topic of magic, I'm afraid that there's not much I can do." Wallace shook his head sadly, making me walk up to him and hold his hand to reassure him.
"Don't worry, Wallace." I told him with a smile. "You're already helping us out just by being here!"
I wasn't lying when I say that Wallace feels like a second father I've always known since I was a kid. It felt like he was always there for me, no matter how troublesome I might've been as a kid.
It's strange, isn't it? I haven't even known Wallace for a year, but I still feel extremely attached to him. I can't explain the emotion of nostalgia and sadness whenever I see him standing right in front of me right now.
I wonder what this is about.
"We'd be more than glad to have you see and learn some spells that we've learned in Hogwarts everytime we come back home." Alem said, walking up next to me with his arms crossed. "If we could, we'd even bring you to Hogwarts and explore the castle."
"Well... you could also get along with Filch." I let out a shrug, remembering the other sadistic squib. "You're both squibs so, you both have that in common."
"Oh, how wonderful! I didn't know that there was also a squib at Hogwarts!" Wallace beamed happily at us, until his happy face fell and his smile disappeared. "But, I thought that squibs are not allowed to attend Hogwarts."
"Huh? Filch is not a student." I replied, a bit surprised and confused at what he said. "He's the castle's caretaker, and he has a cat named Ms. Norris."
"Caretaker?" Wallace tilted his head to the side.
"Believe me when I say that Filch is not as nice as you are, despite having the title as 'caretaker'." Alem sighed from beside me. "He has this... sadistic nature around him towards the students and he's really really grumpy most of the time."
"That's not a very good attitude to present to children." Wallace sighed along with Alem. "Is it safe to assume that he's not very popular among the students then?"
"Oh, no one really likes him." I replied with a shrug. "He doesn't like us either, so the feeling is mutual; he has this weird hate towards the students just because we can perform magic, and he can't."
"Well, that explains his weird grudge against us." said Alem, who had his finger on his chin as if he's in his deep thoughts. "But, where did you hear that Filch hates us because we can perform magic?"
Oh shit.
Well, it's not like I can't tell him that I know it because I searched "Why does Filch hate the students so much?" once in Google in the middle of the night.
"Err... well, the higher years gossip about it." I lied, scratching my cheek nervously. "It's probably a rumor, but it makes sense if he hates us just because we can use magic, and he can't."
"I'm in no position to speak about Filch when I hardly know him," Wallace said as cleared his throat. "However, I like to think that he might just despise the students because; as magical students can mostly get away with anything and clean things easily, Filch needs to be the one to clean the mess the students left behind by himself."
"As someone who cannot do magic to make things easier for him, it might not be a wonder why he would hate students so much." He added. "Though, based from what young master Alem said about him harbouring a sadistic nature to the students, this does not excuse him for acting quite rude to the students."
Alem nodded from beside me, and began to cross his arms. "I do wish I wouldn't have to encounter him so much this year; he always finds a reason to get students in trouble."
I freeze and look away, knowing that a big commotion would surely take place in Hogwarts this year. The least I can do is make sure that Alem would be safe from the basilisk and Ginny.
Speaking of Ginny, I apologize in advance, but if Tom Riddle wouldn't possess you, then he might possess someone and I wouldn't know what would happen afterwards if he decides to possess someone else other than you.
I should remind myself to stay away from her this year.
Well, maybe after I mess with Tom Riddle for a bit. I'm sure nothing bad would happen if I tease him for a while - I'll be avoiding Ginny for the rest of the year anyway.
"Well, I'll be heading back to my room and play some games for a while." I stretch my arms and grabbed my wand from the counter, pointing it at the semi-broken kitchen counter.
"Reparo." I cast, mending the counter and returning it back to its normal state. I stare at the counter in awe, as it seems to be looking more wonderful than brand new.
"Well, look at that," I scoff playfully and stared down at my wand with a smile. "I guess I can cast spells without losing control every once in a while."
"A wonderful display of magic, young mistress/master (Y/N)!" praised Wallace as he clapped with glee. "I'm certain that if Master Lawrence and Mistress Aurelia were here to see you perform this magic, they would be so proud of you!"
"Thank you, Wallace." I smiled up at him.
"That goes for you too, young master Alem." Wallace turned to look at my brother. "They would be so proud of your growth in the course of a year."
He, then, kneeled down and gently wrapped his arms around the two of us. "Of course, I am also proud of you two - I'm grateful that the young children of the Rosewood family, whom I've served for years now, are growing up healthy and kind."
Wallace retracted himself, showing us his smile and the tears that were showing up in the corner of his eyes. "My only wish is to see you two grow up into fine, responsible adults. I will not settle down until my wish has been granted."
I was speechless; I couldn't say anything, and I tried to process the emotion that's circling around my brain for a few seconds now. I can tell that I'm happy, but I feel more than just... happy.
I can feel myself smiling, and then letting out a genuine soft laughter.
"Wallace, it'll take us years to even fully become responsible adults." I comment, smiling at Wallace.
"Yes, it'll take longer in (Y/N)'s case, to be honest." I heard Alem say, which made me turn to look at him with a pout.
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean!?" I exclaim, which made Wallace and Alem laugh.
Honestly, I couldn't get mad at him for saying that. So, I ended up laughing along with them as the sun continued rising up into the sky.
It feels nice to have a family like this, even if it is all just a dream.
Even if I know that I have to leave them as soon as Voldemort dies.
Even if I know that they're not my actual family to begin with.
»»----- ♡ -----««
It's noon.
(Y/N), Alem ate their lunch, which was prepared by Wallace. They insisted that he would be eating along with them, and wouldn't touch their food unless he joined them.
So, as Wallace didn't have any other choice, he complied to their wishes and ate with them.
As Wallace grabbed their plates, Alem cleared his throat and glanced up at him. "Wallace, may we go to Zeke's house today?"
(Y/N) froze on their seat, and suddenly felt nervous. They wouldn't know how to act around Zeke - it doesn't help that this boy was supposed to be someone who they have a crush on, and someone who they've known for years.
Wallace smiled at Alem, nodding as he did so. "Of course, young master Alem." He replied. "I'm sure young Zeke would be so glad to see you two again after months of being in Hogwarts."
(Y/N) started to casually sip their glass of apple juice, but they were extremely nervous to say the least. They don't know much about the boy who lives across the street.
"Oh, young mistress/master (Y/N)," Wallace spoke, making (Y/N) startle for a second and look at him. "Master Lawrence and Mistress Aurelia did ask you to give the leftover cupcakes to the Millers, so I will be taking the cupcakes out."
"O-Oh, sure." (Y/N) cleared their throat and pulled up a forced nervous smile. "Thanks, Wallace."
Alem observed (Y/N), his eyes narrowing at how nervous they seemed to act. He might have to talk about their odd behaviour to Lawrence and Aurelia someday.
He sighed, and decided to not tell them what their relationship is with Zeke. He had to see how they'd look like without his help.
"I'll be going upstairs for a while to... um..." (Y/N) said as he stood up. "Change my clothes before we head over to Zeke's house."
With that, (Y/N) left the kitchen and hastily walked up to the stairs. Alem silently huffed, and stood up from his seat.
"Thank you so much for the meal, Wallace." thanked Alem with a smile. Wallace smiled back at the young boy with a nod.
"You're very welcome, young master." said Wallace before he turned his attention towards the dirty dishes on the sink, and began to clean them.
Alem silently left the kitchen and stared up at the second floor, his eyes narrowing once more. With a sigh, he discreetly began to climb his way up to the second floor and slowly walk over to the room that they shared.
He stopped at the door, and it was slightly open. Alem blinked, and gently opened the door to peek inside.
Inside, he could see (Y/N) collapsing on the bed and swinging their legs on the air. They certainly look a bit troubled, as if they don't know what they should do.
Alem stared at his twin for a moment before leaning away, shaking his head with a silent sigh. "What in the world am I doing?" He muttered to himself as he walked away from their room, and walked over to Aurelia and Lawrence's room.
He gently pushed the door open, revealing the somewhat large room that his parents shared. Alem walked inside, closing the door behind him and scanned the room.
It's certainly been a while since he's been in his parents' room. Both (Y/N) and Alem weren't allowed in the room, unless Aurelia or Lawrence gave them permission to enter the room.
Of course, the twins respected that - casually entering your parents' bedroom without permission is a bit disrespectful, to say the least.
In this case, Lawrence was the one who gave him permission.
Alem didn't want to stay in the room for too long, and began to walk over to the bedside drawer, which had a picture of him, (Y/N), Lawrence, Aurelia, and Wallace. He pulled the uppermost drawer open, revealing stock of papers that were about Wizengamot court schedules.
Alem removed the papers out of the drawer and placed them on the bed. He looked back, and saw one lone green necklace sitting there ominously.
He grumbled, taking the necklace into his hands and examining it. Alem immediately felt uncomfortable after holding the necklace for a few seconds - especially since Draco Malfoy was the one who gave such a dangerous item to his own twin.
Alem clutched the necklace tight in his hands, remembering the words that Lawrence said to him last night;
"Alem, I want you to hide or keep the necklace tomorrow, at least until I know how to address this to Lucius Malfoy or to Narcissa Malfoy." said Lawrence as he showed the green necklace for Alem to see. "I cannot keep this with me for long - I might be questioned by Bones or the other wizards."
"It's better to avoid being questioned about this necklace for now, especially in the Ministry." Lawrence added. "We have been trying to catch wizards and witches who bought the Necklace of Connections, as it was bought in Knockturn Alley and might be tampered with dark magic. But, since this is Malfoy's son we're talking about, I highly doubt he'll want to hear rumors about his son buying a sketchy item like this flying around the Ministry."
"and Lucius Malfoy is technically controlling most departments and divisions of the Ministry." Alem continued.
"Exactly." Lawrence nodded and pocketed the necklace. "I already want to avoid Lucius as much as I can, even if he's mostly influencing the Wizengamot court." He said, bitterly.
Alem frowned, knowing that most cases are directed towards Muggleborns and the discrimination towards them by claiming that they stole their wands from Ollivander's.
"But, dad, why would Draco Malfoy give something like this to (Y/N)?" Alem questioned.
"Well, that is what I like to know, Alem." Lawrence sighed before staring at his son intently. "What was... (Y/N) and Draco Malfoy's relationship like in Hogwarts?"
"I..." Alem paused, then rubbed his arm nervously. "To be honest, I cannot be too sure about their 'relationship'; they both were prejudiced against each other on the first night of the castle, but (Y/N) almost seemed to change their entire attitude towards him on the second day."
"What do you mean by 'change'?" asked Lawrence.
Alem had to think about whether or not should he tell Lawrence about (Y/N)'s 'memory loss' and how odd they were acting in their first year.
Especially after they almost got a concussion at the last day in the castle.
"Well, I don't know how to say this but (Y/N) is very... open when it comes to danger, if that even makes sense. They're always oddly close to Potter and the Gryffindors despite them having nothing to do with (Y/N)." Alem explained. "As for Malfoy, (Y/N) treats him as if he's a somewhat close friend... As if the entire issue that we had with the Malfoy family was just gone from their mind."
"Malfoy even tries to get close to (Y/N), which is weird? As far as I know, there's nothing that both of them have done to each other to act so friendly." Alem added, crossing his arms.
He was about to tell Lawrence that he saw them sleeping together in the middle of the night on the common room's couch, but if he were to tell Lawrence, he would burst through the Malfoy's mansion and hex Draco.
"Well, that certainly is odd..." Lawrence had his fingers on his chin, and began to retreat into his thoughts to try and think over some stuff.
Both of the Rosewoods paused, not knowing what to say to each other, until Lawrence opened his mouth to speak.
"Alem, do you ever think that (Y/N)... is not (Y/N) at all?" He asked, making Alem's eyes wide in surprise. I mean, he expected Lawrence to catch on to (Y/N)'s odd behaviour, but didn't expect him to catch on this quickly.
"W-What do you mean, dad?" Alem gulped.
"Well, I might just be jumping to conclusions, but I did notice how unsettled they were when I saw them on the King's Cross Station yesterday." Lawrence said as he leaned against a wall. "(Y/N) has never been that uncomfortable with any of us - what reason is there for them to be?"
"This became prevalent when I offered to help them pick out an outfit this noon." He added. "The most odd thing yet, was when (Y/N) said that they wanted to make a good first impression on mother, making it seem like this was the first time they'd ever seen her before."
Alem frowned, and began to look down on the ground. He didn't want to believe that something was terribly off about his own twin - but if his own father was telling him these things, then he had to consider.
He had to consider what was wrong with (Y/N).
Lawrence observed Alem, who was looking so troubled and conflicted. He frowned with him; he never wanted to see any of his children looking like that.
"Of course, this is all just my speculation." Lawrence smiled at Alem. "If (Y/N) says that there's nothing wrong with them, then I will fully believe them and admit that every single thing I've suspected about them was wrong."
"I want to believe that I can trust my children, as naive that may sound like." Lawrence added, making Alem look up at him with the same conflicted look on his face.
The boy was about to open his mouth to speak, but held himself back before he could say anything.
"I understand, dad." He said, sadly.
"I'll be leaving the necklace in our bedside drawer. It'll be covered with some schedule papers from old Wizengamot court cases." Lawrence said, patting Alem's shoulder. "It's up to you on where you want to hide it, or how you want to keep it, just as long as (Y/N) doesn't see it."
"I'm counting on you, Alem."
Alem sighed and pocketed the necklace, making sure that its laces were not sticking out for (Y/N) to see. He placed the papers back in the drawer and pushed it close, before walking out of the room.
He began to walk back on the room that he and (Y/N) shared, knocking on it and waiting for them to respond.
After a few seconds, (Y/N)'s voice piped up from the room. "Come in." They said, making Alem gently push the door open and immediately noticed their appearance.
They wore simple blue shorts and grey t-shirt. It wasn't really nothing to marvel about.
"Oh, it's just you, Alem." (Y/N) breathed out a sigh of relief. "I thought it was Wallace."
"You should probably brush your hair," Alem commented as he glanced at his twin's hair. "It looks like you've been electrocuted."
"Damn, you're rude." (Y/N) joked with a pout, making Alem roll his eyes and watch as (Y/N) began to aimlessly look for a hairbrush.
"Go head downstairs after you're done; I need to change." Alem said while crossing his arms.
"Yes, my good sir." (Y/N) chuckled and grabbed a hairbrush that they managed to find, before walking out of the room with a whistle.
Alem closed the door himself, sighing as he began to take off his pyjamas, starting with his shirt. "That (Y/N) is so weird."

I gulp as we stand in front of the door of Zeke's house, my hands gently holding each sides of a large rectangular plate with assorted baked cupcakes that mum baked yesterday.
I was nervous; I don't know who Zeke is or who his family is, so I wouldn't know how to act around them. Asking Alem about him would make matters even worse.
I already asked him who Zeke was when we were at the castle, and it'd certainly make me look more suspicious if I ask him who he is and how important they actually are in my life.
"Uh, Alem..." I spoke and turned to look at my twin brother, who was standing right beside me. "Would you care to knock? My hands are..." My words trailed off as my eyes glanced down to the plate of cupcakes I was holding.
"Oh, sorry." Alem briefly apologized and began to walk closer to the door, knocking on it thrice and taking a step back to wait for any response.
"Good morning, Mrs. Miller! It's Alem and (Y/N)!" He shouted after knocking. I kept glancing over to the side and trying to make sure to not make myself any more nervous.
"Oh, coming!" A feminine voice called out from the other side of the door. A few seconds passed before the door creaked open, revealing a dark skinned woman smiling down at us.
"Alem, (Y/N)!" She happily exclaimed in delight, pulling Alem and I for a hug. I had to adjust myself so the plate of cupcakes I was holding wouldn't fall off. "Oh goodness, it's so nice to see you two again after such a long time!"
"It's nice to see you too, Mrs. Miller." Alem chuckled, while I was still trying to adjust myself in her arms.
Mrs. Miller retracted herself away from us, then her eyes darted down to the plate of cupcakes we were holding. "Oh? What's this, (Y/N)?" She asked, leaning down to me.
"I... u-um..." I began to stutter over my own words, but immediately composed myself as I didn't want to look like an idiot in front of someone I just met. "Mum told me to give this to you; she baked it herself yesterday." I said as I began to lift the plate up for her to take.
"Oh my, baked it herself?" Mrs. Miller smiled widely at that and gently took the plate out of my hands. "Well, I'm sure this will taste wonderful. Thank you very much, (Y/N)!"
I nervously nod and smile, not knowing how to respond to her. Mrs. Miller, then, enters the house and beckons for us to enter.
"Come on inside, then!" She said. "Zeke would be thrilled to see you two once again!"
Actually, I was kinda hoping that we should just leave after we hand over the cupcakes. I just wanna sleep for the entire day, goddamn it.
I glance over at Alem, who didn't really say anything and only kept smiling at her. He glanced back at me, quirking an eyebrow up.
"What is it?" Alem asked, making me shake my head and force a smile at him.
"N-Nothing." I said and entered the house begrudgingly, with Alem shortly following from behind.
Once I fully entered the house, I was immediately greeted by the scent of cinnamon pie and coffee. I immediately felt calm and started to look around the house.
It certainly wasn't as big as ours, not that I'm complaining or anything. The walls were painted in yellow, and they have picture frames hanging on them.
Most of the picture frames consisted a dark skinned young boy with messy jet black hair and glistening hazel brown eyes. I assume that he's Zeke.
I blink, inching closer towards the picture frames that had the young boy in them. I can't deny that he does look somewhat attractive.
"So, how was your boarding school, you two?" Mrs. Miller called out from the distance, making me lean away from the pictures and follow Alem from behind.
"It was fine, Mrs. Miller." Alem replied with his voice raised to be able to reach Mrs. Miller's ears. I wasn't really paying much attention to their conversation as I kept scanning the house while following Alem.
I stopped when we entered the kitchen, where the smell of coffee and cinnamon pie became stronger. I take a deep breath as a smile begin to curl up in my lips when I felt how comfortable this house seemed to be.
"Well, colour me shocked - I haven't seen you two since last year!" A man's voice made me startle and turn around to see who it is. A tall dark skinned man with tidy black hair stood there with a huge smile on his face.
"It's so good to see you kids again!" He exclaimed happily as he walked towards us and scooped Alem and I into his arms, hugging us tightly.
While Alem was chuckling, I was just trying to hide my discomfort by forcing up a nervous smile while discreetly squirming away from this man's hug.
"I-It's good to see you too, Mr. Miller!" Alem laughed before Mr. Miller gently put us down on the floor. I frown and rubbed my arms, still feeling uncomfortable at the sudden skin contact of a grown man.
"(Y/N), you okay?" I heard Mr. Miller ask me with a concerned tone and look on his face. I immediately nod and let out a nervous chuckle, not wanting to upset him or anything.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine!" I said. Both Alem and Mr. Miller looked unconvinced, but didn't push any further when Mrs. Miller walked towards us with a cupcake held on her hands.
"Give the poor child some space, Richie. They might just be nervous to see us again after a long time." She said before munching on the cupcake with a smile. Her face scrunched up in delight as she glanced down at the cupcake. "Wow, this taste's good! But, that's to be expected of Aurelia's baking skills."
Mr and Mrs. Miller laughed at this, while Alem was just chuckling along to them. I suddenly felt awkward and out of place, especially since I don't know anything about the Millers.
"Why don't you two sit down and eat some delicious pie?" Mrs. Miller said as she walked over to the table, where a cinnamon pie sat on the center. The scent of the pie grew stronger in my nose, and I felt my mouth watering at the sight of the hot, steaming dessert.
Two coffees were placed on the table as well, and their scent mixed along with the scent of the cinnamon pie, creating a more delicious smell that made my stomach growl uncontrollably.
All three turned their heads towards my direction, a look of surprise on their faces. I slowly lift my hand over to my stomach with my cheeks heating up in embarrassment.
"(Y/N), we just ate a few minutes ago!" Alem exclaimed as he stared at me in disbelief. His words made me flushed even more, and a weak nervous laugh escaped my lips.
"I... I guess I get hungry easily...?" My response made Alem face palm, and I quickly looked away from the three while wishing that I wasn't always this goddamn embarrassing around other people.
"Well, we still have some hotdogs in the fridge. I could cook some for you, if you want." Mrs. Miller said, making me turn my head to look at her. She sent me a gentle smile, and I eventually became calm and reassured.
While I was hungry, I definitely don't want to bother her by cooking up some food for me. I'm a guest, but I know my limits as one.
"It's okay, Mrs. Miller. I'll just eat the pie instead." I said as I shook my head. I'd feel bad if someone who I don't know had to cook something up for me, especially if I just ate a few moments ago.
Then again, I never really ate a lot of meals back when I was still in the real world. I mostly just leave my salary for rent and some cheap school fees that I need to pay.
I never get the chance to eat all that much, except when my manager gives me some frozen ready to cook food, like hotdogs, to bring back home or my neighbor gives me some of their food that they cooked or Louis sneaks up some chocolate bars and juice boxes under my desk.
"Are you sure?" She asked with a skeptical look on her face. "Cooking up hotdogs won't take too much time, I promise."
"No, really, Mrs. Miller," I started to feel flustered and waved my hand around with a smile "It's okay."
"Well, if you say so." Mrs. Miller smiled once again. I heave out a small sigh of relief, and watched as the Millers walked over to the table.
"You don't always eat much before you went to school, (Y/N)." Mr. Miller commented as he raised one eyebrow and a smirk curling up on the corner of his lips.
"There are a lot of delicious food in Hogwarts, Mr. Miller." I said with a chuckle. As soon as those words left my mouth, I felt a harsh nudge on my arm.
"Ow!" I hissed and turned to look at my side where Alem was looking at me with a frantic look on his face. I quirk my eyebrow up in confusion until I started to piece the puzzle together.
"Err..." Mr. Miller coughed awkwardly. "Where's this... Hogwarts?" He asked, and I began to internally scream.
So, you're telling me these people didn't know that we were a family of witches and wizards? I assumed that since our families were particularly close with each other, they'd know that we went to Hogwarts and know that we were a family that can perform magical spells.
Then again, that'd be a stupid assumption since this is a family of muggles that don't have any biological relations to us. There's no reason for them to know that we're a magical family, even if they're our neighbors.
"I... uh..." I squeaked out nervously and avoided the Millers' gazes. "H-Hogwarts is a... um..."
There's no use; I can't think of any other lie to cover this up. Am I going to be screwed this time around?
"Hogwarts is an in-school cafe. It's quite famous around the area." Alem answered on my behalf, making me turn my head towards him with a slight look of disbelief present on my face.
Alem returned my look back with a glare, and I gulped as I turned my head back towards the Millers nervously.
Mr. Miller didn't look very convinced, but he shrugged and pulled up a smile. "Well, I would want to go to Hogwarts someday!" He laughed. "Odd name, isn't it? Hogwarts. Never really heard of a cafe named like that before."
"W-Well, that's what makes it unique!" I respond, laughing along with him to make it seem more convincing. "The candies taste great!"
"Candies?" Mrs. Miller sounded confused.
"What (Y/N) meant to say is that the candies they usually give out to students taste great." Alem answered, smiling up at Mrs. Miller. "They're free samples."
"Oh." Mrs. Miller blinked, then grabbed a clean plate from the kitchen counter. "Well, isn't that just wonderful? You two are certainly studying at a great school!"
"Don't get too used to the candies, though." Mr. Miller commented from the table while sipping his coffee. "Zeke's getting a bit too obsessed with sweet food that he's starting to lose his appetite to even eat proper meals."
"He's actually the reason why I'm baking this pie." Mrs. Miller sighed as she shook her head. "But, I had nothing to do anyway and this would help me get back into baking, so I couldn't say no."
"Oh, speaking of Zeke, how is his tutoring going, Mr. Miller?" Alem asked, while I started feeling a bit left out because I know nothing about his family or even about Zeke.
Then again, it's probably for the best if I just shut my mouth and don't speak up unless I've been asked to. I don't want to mess things up more than I already have.
"It's going well, I would say." Mr. Miller shrugged his shoulders while placing his cup of coffee on the table. "He's a smart boy, that Zeke. He picks up on his studies so fast that he got his summer break early."
'Smart, huh?' I thought. 'Zeke sounds like a Ravenclaw to me.'
"I do feel bad that Zeke can't go to a normal school like you two, but you know his condition, so he can't." He sighed as Mr. Miller's expression became solemn.
'Condition?' I thought as I quirk my eyebrow up in amusement. I didn't know Zeke had a condition.
I wonder what it is.
"The least we can do for him is keep him company while you two are in school." Mrs. Miller walked towards the table and took a seat next to Mr. Miller. "He's pretty sad that you two have to stay in school for months without even coming back home, even in Christmas."
"Well, that's just how it is, Mrs. Miller." Alem said, sadly. "I do wish we can also keep Zeke in company, but our school requires us to be there for the rest of the semester."
"In any case, I'm sure Zeke will be happy that you two are finally back, even for just a short while." Mr. Miller gave us a warm smile as he drifted his eyes towards me, his smile becoming wider than a second ago. "He's been waiting for you, specifically, (Y/N)."
"M-Me...?" I stuttered, surprised at the sudden calling of my name.
"Oh come on, sweetheart." Mrs. Miller giggled as she grabbed a plate and began slicing the pie. "While you two seem like you're making your feelings for each other very discreet, it's so obvious to all of us."
I blink, feeling embarrassed and confused at the same time. Salazar, how much do I actually like this guy? I wasn't aware that I like someone else other than Cedric.
"I... I'm not really sure how to respond to that." I responded, rubbing my arm as I avoided the Millers' teasing glares.
"Well, we wouldn't keep you two here for long. I'm sure you're dying to see Zeke." Mr. Miller says while grabbing his cup of coffee and finishes the remaining contents of his drink with a huff.
"He's in his room." Mrs. Miller says. We nod appreciatively to her and followed Alem out of the kitchen. Before we could fully leave the kitchen, however, we heard Mrs. Miller's voice call out my name. "Oh, and (Y/N). Could you be a sweetheart and bring this to his room?"
She gently hands me a plate with a slice of pie on it. I nod, taking the plate with my hands as delicately as I could.
"Yeah sure, no problem." I say, then Mrs. Miller smiled down at me.
"Thank you, (Y/N)." She says with a wink, and walked towards the kitchen sink. Thinking that our issues in the kitchen are done, me and Alem continued our way towards Zeke's room.
As I don't know where Zeke's room is, I let Alem take the lead. I genuinely hope he's not being too suspicious of me and start asking me weird questions.
I'm not ready to tell him who I am just yet. Truthfully, I feel like I wouldn't even be able to tell him.
Sure, I feel bad that I'm lying to him, but telling him the truth would just cause more confusion about me.
What would mum, father, and Wallace even say?
I'm scared of what will happen.
Alem suddenly stopped, and I stopped as well. He didn't say anything, and I started to become confused.
However, before I can say anything, he already opened his mouth to speak.
"His room is right here." He said, but didn't bother turning around to face me or anything. This only made me even more confused, but didn't say anything went with the flow.
I glance at the door that he meant, which was on our right side.
"Oh, okay then." I say, then waited for him to open the door. I mean, he should know that I can't open it because both of my hands are occupied, right?
He sighed and walked over to the door, knocking on it thrice.
"Zeke, it's us." Alem called out, and I silently gulp next to him. "Can we come in?"
Three seconds passed before a young boy's muffled voice from the other side of the door entered our ears.
"Come in." He said. I saw Alem glance towards me from his shoulders before turning his attention towards the door and placing his hand on the silver doorknob.
He gently twisted the knob and slowly pushed the door open, revealing a small yet decorative room. The walls were painted in gradient blue - the light gradient starting at the bottom and the dark gradient at the top.
The walls have drawing papers that were drawn in crayons plastered on them. What those drawings were, I couldn't exactly tell, but I can see Alem's name messily written in one of the papers, as if it was written by a toddler.
It wasn't only papers that were plastered on the walls; few picture frames were hung neatly on them with the frames being wooden. The glass that contained pictures seemed to be regularly cleaned as they looked pretty well-clean and shiny.
Aside from picture frames and papers, one distinguishable space-themed calendar was hung next to the doorway. The calendar's year was 1992, and the month was set to June.
The ceiling was painted black with small white dots that might have represented as stars. Circle planets were hanging from the ceiling in a descending manner just above the bed. Judging from the Earth planet, it's safe to assume that this must be the solar system.
The room didn't have much in particular; a closed toy box was situated in front of the white bed. A cabinet was sitting across the bed, with a few picture frames on top of it and some school books I've never seen before.
A wardrobe was next to the cabinet and a study desk was right next to the wardrobe. The study desk was tidy and only a few stacked papers and a pen organizer was there.
In the bed sat a lone dark skinned boy. The lower half of his body was covered by a blue blanket and he was staring right at us with a gentle smile. Not gonna lie, he looks more handsome when I finally see him in personal.
His black hair was somewhat messy and his hazel eyes were droopy, indicating that he might've been taking a nap before we came in.
However, the thing that caught my eyes the most was the wheelchair that was propped next to the bed and the amount of unidentifiable medicines that were sitting on the bedside table.
"Hey, Zeke." Alem greeted the boy that was sitting on the bed as he entered the room. I was still hanging on the doorway, staring at the medications and the wheelchair.
Was he unable to walk?
"Hey, Alem." Zeke said. His voice was kind of deep for a 12 year old boy. He turned his head towards me and smiled.
"Hey, (Y/N)." He greeted. I gulp for a second before forcing a smile since I just realized that I wouldn't know how to act around this boy.
"Hey, Zeke." I greeted back as I entered the room and closed the door behind me, holding the plate in my other hand. Zeke's eyes lit up at the sight of the pie on my hand.
"Did mum finish baking the pie?" He asked, and I drifted my eyes down to the plate of pie I was holding. I look back at the black haired boy and nodded with a smile.
"Yep, she says you asked her to... bake it for you?" I tried to start a conversation to not make this more awkward. I silently hoped that Alem would be taking the course and continue the conversation so I wouldn't have to rack my brain trying to think of new topics.
"Yeah, I really wanted to eat a pie all of a sudden, so I asked mum to do it!" He exclaimed as I walk over to him and handed the plate. The black haired boy gently took it from my hands and shot me a smile of gratitude.
"Thank you, (Y/N)!" Zeke said and began to eat the pie, munching on it happily while we began to sit on the floor of his bedroom. I blink and blushed a little when I realized how adorable his smile was - he acts like a kid. Alem took a seat beside me and looked up at the boy in front of him.
"Are you doing well these days, Zeke?" My brother asked, causing me to snap out of my thoughts and listen to their conversation.
"Hmm, well I finished my studies earlier than I expected so I don't really have much to do besides reading." Zeke hummed while bringing another chunk of pie in his mouth. "What about you two - how's school?"
Alem looked at me as if he wanted me to respond. I was taken back at Alem's look, and could feel Zeke's curious stare looking at each of us back and forth. With an aggravated sigh escaping through my nose, I opened my mouth to reply to Zeke's question.
"N-Nothing much, really. It's fun but..." I paused, not really knowing what to say. I do have a lot to say about Hogwarts, but since it's more likely that Zeke doesn't know that we go to a magic school, I needed to choose my words carefully. "We made new friends and learned new lessons, I guess."
Zeke frowned at the lack of enthusiasm of my answers, which I noticed. I gulp at this and forced up a smile. "We also went to this really cool cafe! Maybe we should... take you there sometime?"
"Cafe?" Zeke tilted his head to the side for a while in confusion, but his face lit up happily when he probably realized that there are sweet snacks thaf he could munch on there. "Sure! I'll have to ask mum and dad for permission though!"
I didn't say anything else after that since I didn't know how to respond. "So, what kind of lessons did you two learn? Is it the same as ours?" Zeke began to ask once more.
"Well, we don't know what kind of lessons you took but it's probably more or less the same since we're in the same grade." Alem was the one to reply this time and I couldn't be more happier.
"Ooh, do you two need any help with math?" The black haired boy asked enthusiastically. Suddenly, I retreated back into my own mind.
It's been a while since I've heard the term 'math' in this world. I always suffered in math because I couldn't understand shit, yet my dying grades were relying on me to do better because otherwise, I wouldn't be able to graduate.
Like the scum I was, I just looked up some answers on the internet for math homeworks and cheated in some tests. Sure, it wasn't ethical but I didn't wanna fail. I wanted to get the fuck out of the city as soon as I graduated and got a decent job - I wanted to run far away and escape that place.
Well honestly, it wasn't even math the only subject where I cheated on.
I wasn't a very smart student, far from it actually. But, I wouldn't say that I'm the worst either. Some dickheads in my class who would skip classes and fuck random girls they see on the streets are definitely worse than me. It's also the same dickheads who were always passive-aggressive with me.
They'd never talk to me during group projects, they'd "accidentally" leave garbage of their food on my desk after they're done eating lunch because I always just eat in the cafeteria, and they'd purposely play loud music whenever I'm trying to study.
I didn't have the guts to confront them about it - I didn't want to get carried away and beat the shit out of them to death just like I did with my previous classmates. I was trying to maintain the "goody-two shoes" persona in school, but these people almost pushed me off the edge.
I'm pretty sure they did that because they hated me. I don't know the reason why though and I don't care to know why.
"...do you think, (Y/N)?" I heard someone say my name, which caused me to snap out of my thoughts as I looked up to see who was asking for my attention. It was Zeke.
"Huh?" I asked, hoping that he'd repeat the question.
"I said, what do you think of coming home this Christmas and spending it with us here if your parents aren't home this year?" He repeated the question, making me blink and look at Alem briefly. He shrugged his shoulders as if he knew what I was thinking before I looked back up at the smiling boy on the bed.
"I mean, it's alright but would your parents be okay with it?" I asked as I tilted my head to the side. Zeke's eyebrow raised in confusion while he crossed his arms.
"Why wouldn't they be okay with it?" Suddenly, he flashed me the same bright smile that he gave me just a moment ago. "My parents would be more than happy to have you two here for Christmas!"
"And..." He looked down on his fingers and suddenly fiddled with them, a small blush rising to his cheeks. "I... I also want to see you during Christmas too since... you know, it would be a while since we've seen each other."
I found myself blushing at his words since he was just lowkey confessing that he wants to see me more often. I completely forgot that we both like each other but since I don't know who this guy is, I just didn't feel anything for him until right this moment.
I could feel something in the back of my mind. It's like itching for me to just hug him...
and apologize?
"That hurts, Zeke." Alem dramatically placed a hand on his chest and clutched it tightly. "Your best friend, Alem Rosewood, is here and yet you don't seem to want me around for Christmas holidays except my dimwitted twin sister/brother over here."
Both Zeke and I became flustered but for different reasons.
"I-It's not like that, I-I swear...!"
"Hey, who the hell are you calling dimwitted!?"
Both of us exclaimed at the same time. I could only watch Alem laugh and hold his stomach to prevent himself from laughing any further, and I caught myself smiling at how happy he is.
I just realized that Alem never seemed to genuinely laugh around people in Hogwarts and I only ever saw him talk to me. If not me, then Draco, but he and Draco are constantly passive-aggressive with each other so I don't really count that as Alem talking to someone.
Does Alem even have any friends at all in Hogwarts or was I just spending way too much time with the trio that I forgot that my twin brother also has friends that I don't know about?
Maybe I could get him to meet new friends this year, but that seems to be difficult since this year is where the basilisk will attack the castle. Salazar, I just hope my brother won't be affected by the attacks.
Well, I'm sure he'll be fine since he's not a muggleborn.
The three of us talked and tried to understand the textbooks that Zeke had to read last year. Even looking at textbooks that are made for eleven year olds makes my head hurt, which just proves that I'm actually a dumbass.
The topics are not really anything that are worth talking about, except for the fact that Zeke said at one point that the wheelchair broke since last week so he couldn't really go anywhere, which proved my assumption of him being unable to walk to be true.
Why he was disabled, I don't really know, but I could feel a sting in my heart when I try and think about it. I wanted to ask him, but it would come off suspicious that I don't know about his condition.
I felt bad for him, to say the least, but I know that I wasn't friends with him because I pitied him. I knew deep down that I was friends with him because I wanted to.
Otherwise, I wouldn't have liked him, as my parents did say that I liked him.
"Ah, I'll be going to the toilet for a while." Alem stood up as we were laughing at a funny picture in one of Zeke's book, which was History. Zeke nodded with a hum and watched as my brother left the room and closed the door behind him.

Zeke sighed and leaned his body to the wall on his side. He was looking out the window, which showed the Rosewood's house across the street. The sun didn't seem to be all that hot, which made (Y/N) realize that it must be around 15:00 PM (3 pm).
Zeke pondered for a moment, wondering if he should give a certain something to the Slytherin beside him. He blushed for a moment before gathering the courage to look at them.
"We must've been here for quite a while, which was great because I've grown quite accustomed to the boy in front of me. Not gonna lie, he's actually really fun to be around." Meanwhile, (Y/N) was in their own thoughts. Zeke found it adorable how often they think about things because (Y/N) would always make noticeable facial expressions depending on what thoughts they're thinking.
Right now, they seem to be smiling.
"(Y/N)," he suddenly spoke up, causing them to look at him with a hum. "Hm?"
"I know you just came back from school but..." Zeke turned to look at (Y/N), his face flustered once more. The (H/C) haired twin blinked while trying to decipher what was going on at the moment.
The boy reached over underneath his blanket and retrieved a sketchpad. He flipped it open and delicately took a small paper on the first page, briefly smiling at it before looking back at me.
"I know we're just kids, but I wanted to give you this!" He leaned closer to them and gently took their hand.
(Y/N) watched as Zeke placed a small piece of paper on their hands. The dark haired boy blushed, flustering at the way their skins touched. The (H/C) haired Slytherin looked down at the small piece of paper, seeing a detailed drawing of a ring.
It seems to have been drawn using pencil, and it's outstanding enough as it is to be able to draw something detailed like that using only a pencil.
"I... Well, I can't get you a real one yet..." Zeke's blush darkened as he started to fiddle with his fingers and his eyes casted downwards to avoid (Y/N)'s gaze.
(Y/N)'s cheeks began heating up as they realized what Zeke meant.
"But, when we get older..." The boy bit his lip and hesitated to say anything for a moment but he gulped and gathered the courage to continue his words. "I'll propose to you... with a real diamond ring next time."
(Y/N) started blushing profusely and they felt their breath hitch as those words left the boy's mouth. They looked away from Zeke and felt emotions stirring in their mind almost immediately.
No one has ever confessed to them like that before, not even Louis. Even though this was the first time they had ever met the boy, they could already feel some sort of attachment to him as if it was only natural for them to feel some sort of romantic interest towards him.
While those thoughts were running rampant on the girl/boy's mind, Zeke leaned his body towards them and placed his lips on their cheek. (Y/N) snapped out of their thoughts and let their eyes widen at the sudden kiss.
As Zeke pulled away, he chuckled and kept a grin on his face while his cheeks were still flushed red. (Y/N) wanted to say something but everytime they open their mouth, no words could leave their lips.
"I hope we get married when we get older, (Y/N)!" He said, making the Slytherin fluster for a moment before standing up from their seat and tucking the ring drawing on their pocket.
"I-I... I'll be heading home now!" They stuttered, silently hoping that their red-coloured cheeks would die down the moment they leave the room so none of the Millers or Alem would ask them about it.
Zeke chuckled and could only wave at them. He thought that their reaction was adorable; they'd never seen (Y/N) this flustered before.
"Alright, please send regards to Mr. and Mrs. Rosewood for me, (Y/N)." He said as he watched (Y/N) leave his room stiffly. He could only sigh to himself and look up at the ceiling with a smile, satisfied that he managed to confess to the person he'd loved for years.
He hopes that their friendship would still continue to remain the same, however. He knows that they could never be in a relationship right now as they were still young, so all that Zeke could do for now is treasure their friendship.
As soon as (Y/N) left the room and closed the door to Zeke's room, they were met by Alem's stupid smirking face. He was leaning on the side of the side of the doorway, making it clear that he saw the whole thing.
"A-Alem! What... What are you doing here!?" (Y/N) exclaimed in a hushed tone while pushing their twin away from Zeke's room so he wouldn't hear anything.
"Oho? I think I should be asking you that question," Alem said in a sing-song voice as he twirled his finger in the air. "What were you two doing?"
"T-That doesn't matter and you know it...!" (Y/N) replied as they continued to push him. Alem could only laugh at his twin's flustered expression and remembered something that Wallace told him a few months ago.
"Hey, about that drawing..."
"I said that doesn't matter!"
"Dad actually did the same thing to mum during their last year in Hogwarts." Alem said, which made (Y/N) stop pushing him. They only stared at him in surprise.
"What?" (Y/N) asked.
"Yeah," Alem smiled at drifted his eyes towards the pocket where (Y/N) tucked the ring drawing in. "Dad wanted to marry mum the moment they became a couple but Wallace said he couldn't afford a ring as a student, so he could only draw mum a ring and said that once he proposes, he'll be able to give her a real ring by then."
(Y/N) blinked and softly blushed as they placed their hand on the pocket that tucked the drawing. Again, another emotions began stirring inside of them.
Alem saw this and smiled, crossing his arms knowingly. "You know, I wouldn't mind seeing you marry Zeke in the future." He said, half-joking. (Y/N), however, saw this as if he was actually being serious. They pout and smacked Alem's arm.
Alem could only laugh as they walked towards the kitchen to say goodbye to the Millers before retreating back to their own home.
On their way, (Y/N) could only wonder one thing;
"Oh yeah, how did our parents get together anyway?" (Y/N) thought but shrugged as they lift their lips up to form a small smile, silently enjoying the way Zeke had "proposed" to them. (Y/N) knew it was nothing more than just puppy love and it was undoubtedly cute.
"Maybe I'll ask Wallace later."

A/N:
Oh look it's been over three months since I've last updated. Might as well be dead y'know?
I had a lot of trouble getting this chapter out because it was annoying to have to fix it constantly (I blame Wattpad for this, mostly)
I literally have nothing else to say except the word count in this chapter is not enough and I feel like I could've written more.
Anyway, y'all are probably gonna have to wait for a few months for another chapter. I'm so sorry-
