Erik POV

I walked through the streets of New Orleans, my hands in my pockets and my head down. It was raining slightly so the rain ran off my hat. I glanced up to look around the stores around me. I pulled a piece of paper out of my pocket and reread the address for what felt like the hundredth time. I looked around quickly and my eyes landed on a small lit sign for a restaurant.

I walked quickly to the building and stepped inside. Since it was late, there weren't many people left. A man noticed me and quickly approached me. The first thing I noticed was that his eyes were black and red. He was a mutant.

"Table for one, monsieur?" he asked.

"Yes please."

He grabbed a menu and led me to a table. When I was seated, I pulled off my coat and placed my hat down beside me.

"I'll be back to get your order," the mutant said.

I nodded and opened my menu to take a look at the foods. Once I had decided on something small, I glanced around the restaurant. It was small, with only about two to three dozen tables. There were three groups left.

The red eyes mutant returned and introduced himself.

"Name's Gambit," he said. "Now, what can Gambit get for you?"

I gave him my order and he disappeared into the kitchen. I looked down at my hands, which I wrung nervously. I looked around to find something to ease my nervousness. I used my powers to lift up a spoon and I twirled it slightly.

Gambit came back out of the kitchen with my food. When he placed it down, he glanced at the spoon that was still floating before looking at me.

"You're a mutant," he stated, voice a little hushed. "So is Gambit and ma soeur."

"Really?"

"Oui." He glanced at the other customers. "Stick around for awhile, mon ami. We can talk more later."

The tables were soon empty aside from myself. Gambit finished cleaning up a table and smiled at me.

"Follow me."

I got up, gathered my hat and coat, and followed Gambit to the kitchen. We stepped through the doors and I couldn't help the smile that appeared on my face. (y/n) was cleaning a countertop, her back towards us.

"Ma soeur!" Gambit said. "Nous avons un invité (We have a guest)."

"Et qui serait-ce, mon frère (And who would that be, my brother)?" she questioned.

I raised an eyebrow when I heard her slight southern accent. Luckily, I knew french so I could understand them.

"Un mutant (A mutant)."

(y/n) glanced over her shoulder at us and froze. She stared directly at me.

"Erik?" she muttered.

Gambit looked between us in slight confusion.

"You two know each other?" he asked.

"We fought together on several occasions," I replied with a slight nod. "We met back in 1962. It's been over ten years since we've seen each other."

Gambit looked to (y/n) for confirmation. She nodded slowly, her eyes still on me. She turned her head slightly to look at her brother.

"Remy, this is Erik Lensherr. He has the power to control metal."

"Magneto?"

"I don't go by that title anymore," I stated.

Gambit nodded and smiled slightly. He patted me on the shoulder.

"Well, then," he said. "I'll let you two catch up."

Next thing I know, Gambit is nowhere to be seen.

"Where did he-?"

"Gambit used to be a thief," (y/n) said, wiping her hands on a towel. "He tends to disappear like that. Do you want to head up to the roof?"

"Sure."

(y/n) smiled slightly and led me to the back alley. When we got outside, she put her hand on my neck and the next thing I know, we're on the roof. Luckily, it had stopped raining.

"Peter's power?" I chuckled.

"Yeah. How's he doing?"

"He's well. I learned recently he is my son."

"I could have told you that." She sat down and motioned for me to join her. I sat down beside her. "How is everyone back at the mansion?"

"They're fine. Charles is finally creating the X-men."

"That's good."

We sat in silence for several minutes. Eventually, I sighed.

"I am sorry, (y/n)." She looked at me, confused. "For all the pain I've caused you. I don't seem to realize what I've done until I've done it."

"Like when you shot Raven back in Paris?" I nodded. "Don't blame yourself, Erik. People get caught up in the moment and don't realize what they've done until after. It's normal."

"I can't imagine what pain you have experienced because of me," I muttered. "Shaw's death, Raven getting shot, nearly crushing Charles, impaling Logan with rusting metal, Alex's death, Charles almost-"

I was suddenly cut off when I felt a pair of lips on mine. I was stunned for a moment, but slowly responded. After a minute, (y/n) and I pulled away, breathing a little heavy. I raised an eyebrow at her.

"I needed someway to shut you up," she smirked. I chuckled. She sighed slightly, her eyes sparkling. "You don't know how long I've wanted to do that."

"Really?" I couldn't hide the amusement in my voice. "And how long would that be?"

"Before Cuba."

I smiled as she blushed and looked to the ground. I gently grabbed her chin and made her look up at me.

"I've wanted the same thing, but it was earlier for me."

"When?"

"Shortly after Charles and I found you."

She smiled. I leaned down and kissed her gently, my hand on the back of her neck.
