(y/n) POV
I sat behind Charles's desk in his study. Jean had told me he was teaching at the moment, but his class would be ending soon. Erik was apparently with him, helping him teach the class. I leaned back in my chair, closing my eyes. I could hear children running across the yard, enjoying themselves. I smiled when I heard familiar voices walking towards Charles's office. I stayed where I was, not moving.
A moment later the door opened and the talking stopped.
"(y/n)?"
I smirked and opened my eyes, looking at the two men who had just entered.
"Hey, Charles," I said, standing up from my seat.
I walked towards him, giving Erik a small smile. Looking back at my brother, I noticed tears in his eyes. I knelt down in front of him and wiped them away.
"You're alright," he said softly.
"Of course I am," I replied. "You didn't think you could get rid of me that easily, did you?"
He chuckled. I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. After several moments, I pulled away and looked at Erik, who had a smile on his face.
"When did you wake up?" Erik asked.
"Sometime while you two were teaching your class. I don't remember specifically."
The two nodded. I could feel Erik staring at me, but I tried to ignore it. Charles glanced between us before smiling.
"I have some work I have to do. I can tell you two want to talk to one another," he said. He looked directly at me. "I hope to see you for lunch?"
"Sure thing, Charles."
He smiled again and wheeled towards his desk as Erik and I walked out of the room. Students were moving through the halls, signalling that one class had just ended and another was starting shortly. Erik and I greeted several students who said 'hello' to us. By the time the halls were clear again, Erik and I had made our way to the yard.
"I'm surprised you've stayed here this long," I said with a smirk.
"Well I wanted to make sure you were alright," Erik replied. "After all, you were unconscious for almost a month because you decided to single handedly take on Apocalypse. You almost died."
"I bought the team time to get Charles away. By the way, what happened to his hair? He always loved his hair."
"He lost it when Apocalypse tried to transfer his consciousness into him."
"Makes sense."
We stopped when we came to the large fountain. I sat on the edge and Erik did the same. We looked down into the water, sitting in silence. I sighed.
"I'm sorry for your loss, Erik. I had no idea what happened to your family until Raven told us. I wish I could have done something to help you."
"It's not your fault, (y/n). No matter where I go, trouble seems to follow." He sighed deeply. "I miss her though." I looked at him. "My daughter, Nina. She was only nine and now she's gone."
I put my hand on his shoulder, making him look at me.
"Not if you don't remember her, Erik. We all lose people, that's how life works, but if you remember Nina, she will always be with you. That's what I've done since I started losing people years ago. That's what's kept me going."
Erik smiled slightly.
"Thank you, (y/n)." I nodded to him and looked back at the water. "How are you feeling? What exactly happened in the pyramid?"
I chuckled.
"I'm feeling fine. A little sore, but that's expected since I got thrown around a bit." I paused, remembering what had happened a month ago. "Apocalypse took Charles and I to the pyramid. Charles got strapped to a table while I was basically chained to the steps in front of Apocalypse's statue. I was the one who powered up the pyramid to start the transference. After he transferred his consciousness into Charles, Apocalypse was going to make me rule by him." I chuckled and brushed some hair out of my face. "Like I would ever do that. He would have been my own brother! That's just weird!"
Erik and I laughed.
"I'm almost glad you tried to stop him," Erik said.
I looked at him again and raised an eyebrow.
"Why? Like you said, I almost got myself killed."
He smiled.
"Because I don't know what I would have done if I lost you to Apocalypse."
"Well you almost did when I fought him."
"I meant you ruling by his side."
I looked at him, confused. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. I could tell that he wanted to say something, but wasn't sure how. I focused and entered his mind briefly to see what he was trying to say. I was shocked when I found what I had entered his mind for and quickly withdrew from his thoughts. I put my hand on his cheek and turned his face to look at me. We looked at each other for a brief moment before I leaned forward and planted a kiss on his lips. After a moment, I pulled away and looked straight into his eyes.
"I love you, too, Erik," I said quietly. "I have for years."
"How...?" his voice trailed off.
"Partly telepathic, remember?"
He smiled.
"I nearly forgot."
I rolled my eyes before he pulled me into another kiss. When we broke away, I chuckled slightly.
"What's so funny?" Erik asked.
"I just remembered something. Did you know you have a son?"
Erik stared at me.
"What?"
"Yeah. Peter's your son."
"Peter? The fast one who got me out of the Pentagon?"
"Exactly. He's been trying to find a way to tell you. Guess I ruined his chance."
"I'll find him later." I smiled as Erik kissed me again. "We'll have to thank Charles at some point. He apparently knew this would happen."
"Can't hide anything from him. Crazy brother always figures things out."
