Prologue

A/N: It's here!!!! You have no idea how excited I am!!

Eren Yeager felt his body make impact with cold, hard ground below him as he fell, marking another defeat on his list. His head rang due to his skull hitting the floor, and his eyes had seemed to go bust, considering they were blurred and adjusting to the sights around him. The moonlight seemed to radiate light upon him and his sparring partner, the aloof, mysterious Annie Leonhart.

For some odd reason, Annie had chosen this time to train Eren. When he asked why they had to train so late, Annie just said, "Oh, so you don't wish to over-throw those stronger than you? You'd rather be the weak one with nothing to live for?"

Those hurtful words were enough to make Eren succumb to the orders of the lone wolf. So he got out of bed, quietly put on his uniform, and snuck to the meeting place; the cliff that over-looked the forest and lake. The view Reiner and Bertolt had showed Armin and he two years ago. Over-time, it had became his favorite spot, as it gave him a sense of calm over his un-quenchable rage over Titans. It had also been Annie's favorite spot, as well. She claimed she liked the view, but unbeknowst to others besides the Armored Ass and Sir Sweats A Lot (i.e. Reiner and Bertolt), this spot gave her freedom. It liberated her worries about the mission Marley gave them, made her feel like a regular person. So naturally, both would sometimes train here.

"Annie, do the words 'Hold Back A Little' mean nothing to you?" Eren groaned as he struggled to pull himself back on his feet.

Annie just shurgged and moved her fringe back behind her ear, "It seems you wish for me to hold back all the time. Well, my answer to that request... no."

Eren looked at her, raising his eyebrows, "You act as if you must do better than your best at times. Why is that?"

Annie wished to could reply to that. But if she told him about how her father's training had been just as harsh as hers, one question would lead to another, and Annie might sabotage the mission.

"This world is a place filled with darkness and black-hearted people," Annie replied, "I just want to protect myself from that so I can get on with this life."

Eren looked at her, eyebrows almost higher now. Annie just sighed and started speaking again.

"For you, you want to exterminate the biggest threat on this land. You want to give peace to the world around you. But in order to fight that threat, you first need to learn how to fight smaller ones.

"However, sometimes, this opponent could be stronger than you, and holding back won't help. That answer your question?"

Eren just sighed and went back into his fighting stance. For some odd reason, no matter how cold Annie acted or how rude she seemed, Eren somehow knew that this wasn't who she really was. He had seen her smile, so this cold, lone wolf couldn't have been Annie on the inside. But regardless, he had no time to try and attempt to find out who Annie was on the inside... because he had to take her down.

"I guess. With you, I can never KNOW!" Out of nowhere he attempted to sweep her out from under her feet. But Annie was able to dodge his attack, grab him by the collar, and floor him. Fortunately, Eren had grabbed the lapel of her hoodie, bringing her down with him. Unfortunately, the two managed to get in an... awkward position where Eren somehow landed on top of her. And if the moon had a personality, it wanted in on some of the action. At that exact moment, it shined upon the two, forcing them into nature's spotlight.

Eren coughed and wheezed for a while before blinking his eyes. His emerald-green eyes were filled with dust, and under him was a small weight that was too soft to be the ground. He stared down, almost yelping to find that Annie was under him, coughing before staring up at Eren. His eyes bore into her skin, noticing how it seemed to glow in the moonlight. Her pale yellow hair seemed to shine even brighter than the sun, even, and her eyes... God, those eyes. Whenever Eren looked into her eyes, he could see the sky, even the gigantic saltwater lake that Armin would tell him about. It didn't become long before Eren began eyeing every part of her face... her nose, which was so cute and unique, and her lips, which were pink like berries. Her eyes, her hair, her skin, her nose, her lips... everything about Annie Leonhart suddenly became so angelic. How was he so oblivious to this beauty?

"E-Eren?" Annie stared up at Eren as well, looking into his eyes.

His eyes... they look like the forest, or the grass. Or emeralds. Annie continued to compare the boy's green eyes to different things that were as green and as beautiful as his... nothing could compare to these strikingly beautiful eyes. Soon, her heart started to thump too fast, as if it was gonna bust out of her ribcage and out of her body, as well. But then Eren spoke.

"You're beautiful, Annie," Eren said, putting his face closer to hers.

"Huh?"

"You're beautiful," Eren replied once again, his face so close that their noses were now touching.

This memory would be something that would be etched into their minds forever, their hearts warming up at the mere thought of this memory. Right now, oh how Annie wished to make this moment extrememely memorable, seriously wishing that Eren would lean closer... closer... closer.

"Eren, kiss me," she blurted out of nowhere, blushing like mad after she realized what she said.

But Eren didn't seem to mind one bit. He was actually waiting for her to say that, so he leaned in closer until their lips touched.

Her lips are so soft.

For a few seconds, Annie didn't know what to do, but soon, she soon went with the flow, moving her head at a different angle so Eren could kiss her better. She ran her hand along his chocolate-colored hair, massaging his scalp while she was at it. Eren proceeded to bite her lip, begging for entrance, to which Annie happily obliged.

If only this could be forever. It only I could freeze time and almost never go back.

Go back... Go back... Go back... home.

Annie! Promise me that you will return!

Let's all go home together!

I promise that I will become a true warrior!

No!! I'm sorry Eren, but we can't. Annie proceeded to grab Eren's shoulders and push him away, causing Eren to sputter in confusion.

"Annie?" Eren said, putting his hand on her cheek, only for her to look up.

Eren's eyes widened at this sight. Annie's hair was a disgruntled mess, and rivers of tears were falling down her face.

"I'm sorry, Eren," she cried, "I'm so sorry."

"Annie, wait!" But it was too late, as she got up and ran... and she never looked back... not once. Now, all the boy could do was go back to the boy's dorm, wondering what he had done wrong.
