Chapter Thirteen - The Man Behind The Bounty

After his encounter with Onibaba, a physically and mentally exhausted Aizawa makes his way back to the Police Station. Once he reaches the Police Station, he speaks with Chief Tsuragamae.

Kenji: Aizawa. It's good to see you again.

Aizawa: I know who put up the bounty. His name is Kira Matsumoto.

Kenji: Kira Matsumoto? This is troubling to hear. He's one of the top crime lords in Japan. We've been after him for years, but he's always been one step ahead of us. How on Earth did you acquire this information?

Aizawa: One of the Assassins gave up his name before killing herself.

Kenji: It makes sense how someone could've brought all these assassins together. Only someone with Matsumoto's connections could've put up a bounty large enough to attract these assassins. Have you located the others assassins?

Aizawa: I did. They're dead.

Kenji: Then that means all the assassins have been dealt with. All that leaves is Matsumoto himself.

As Kenji says this, Aizawa takes a moment to reflect on the situation. While he had defeated all the assassins that were hired to kill them. He knew this was a temporary victory. Though Onibaba and Handtaker were dead, the rest of the assassins still posed a very real threat despite being behind bars. These were not typical Villains. These were among the deadliest assassins in the country if not the world. Aizawa knew that it was only a matter of time until one or all of the assassins would break out and continued hunting Aizawa down.

Aizawa: I need to find Matsumoto. As long as he's free, the assassins won't stop. They won't stop hunting me until they claim the bounty. There's no telling what kind of damage they'll do.

Kenji: I'm afraid it won't be that easy. My men and I have been after Matsumoto for years. Every time we had a solid lead on him, it came up cold. Matsumoto is as crafty as a fox. There's a reason why he's one of the top crime lords in recent memory.

It became clear to Aizawa that finding Matsumoto would not be easy. Despite this, Aizawa knew that he had no other choice. As long as Matsumoto was free, the threat of the assassins would ever go away. There was an even bigger threat of Matsumoto hiring more assassins to do what the current assassins so far have failed to do. And there was no telling what kind of damage these other assassins could do. And with the kind of influence Matsumoto had, the likely hood of more assassins being hired was certain. With the stakes being higher than before, Aizawa knew that there was no time to waste. Without hesitation, Aizawa begins walking out much to Kenji's confusion. Aizawa soon makes his way to Giran's office. Upon entering the information broker's office, Giran chuckles.

Giran: Back again? Well ain't this a pleasant surprise!

Aizawa: Tell me where I can find Kira Matsumoto.

Giran: Kira Matsumoto? Now why would you be asking about Kira Matsumoto?

Aizawa: He's the one who put the bounty on my head and hired the assassins after me. You're going to tell me where to find him.

As Aizawa said this, Giran chuckles.

Giran: I hope you understand the position you're putting me in. Asking me about information about assassins is one thing, but assassins about established crime lords? That's another thing. There ain't a lot of information brokers in this city and even fewer with the kind of information that I have.

Aizawa: Whatever price you want, I'll pay. Innocent lives are in danger. I have to stop him.

Giran: I'm willing to make a deal with you. Play along and maybe we can help each other out. There's a splinter group of the Yakuza on the rise. They want Matsumoto...taken care of.

Aizawa: I'm not going to kill him.

Giran: Then today's your lucky day, Eraser. This group don't care what happens to Matsumoto as long as he's put out of business. Kill him, jail him, it don't matter. They just want him gone.

Aizawa: Why doesn't this group deal with Matsumoto themselves?

Giran: Do I really have to answer that question? Ever since All Might started doing his "Symbol Of Peace" schtick, the Yakuza's criminal empire has all been dismantled. They don't have the manpower or the resources to conduct their business...openly. You catch my drift?

As Giran said this, Aizawa found himself put in a difficult position. Paying the price meant doing the work of a criminal organization. But in Aizawa's mind, this was the most logical move for a multitude of reasons. This would not only put away Matsumoto, but the likely hood of this Yakuza splinter group was relatively low. With no other option, Aizawa decided to go through with the deal.

Aizawa: I'll go along with it.

Giran: Don't worry, no one's gonna know about this little meeting. You just do your part and I'll cook up a little story that'll make my clients real happy. Matsumoto has a lot of safehouses all over the city. But's got a nice cozy little mansion outside Dagobah Beach.

With that, Aizawa had the information he needed. Before he walked out of Giran's office, the information broker chuckled.

Giran: Good luck, Eraser.

Aizawa paid Giran's words no mind. With the location of Matsumoto now known to him, Aizawa now had the means to track Matsumoto down and put an end to this madness once and for all.
