While on his patrol of the city, Eraserhead investigates sightings of a large bat like creature flying the city skies. As he investigates the creature, he finds a strange connection between the creature and famed scientist Dr. Kirk Langstrom. During the night, Eraserhead makes his way to Kirk Langstom's lab where he works alone on something. Eraserhead approaches Langstrom as he works in his lab. 

Eraserhead: Dr. Kirk Langstrom? 

Langstrom: Eraserhead? What can I do for you?

Eraserhead: I've been investigating sightings of some kind of bat creature. I found a....connection between it and you. Care to explain?

As Eraserhead said this, Langstrom grew silent as he stopped working. He then gave the Pro Hero his full, undivided attention. 

Langstrom: I've....I've been working on a serum with the hopes of curing deafness. Imagine being able to give a deaf person the ability to hear again. 

Eraserhead: What does this have to do with the bat creature?

Langstrom: Did you know that bats have among the best hearing in the animal kingdom? It's the evolutionary counter to the bat's blindness. Bats use sonar to navigate themselves as well as hunt for prey. I thought that if I could isolate the genes of the bat and combine that with a human, I could find the cure for deafness.

Eraserhead: What happened?

Langstrom: There were....unintended consequences. In my research, I discovered a new formula to create a new species. Neither human nor bat. Once I started tacking it, I...I couldn't stop. I desperately wanted to, but...it took over. 

As Langstrom said this, Eraserhead grew concerned. 

Eraserhead: It? 

Langstrom: I tried to get help, but it was too late. The beast knew what chemicals were needed to bring itself about. It was out of my control! It only needed one more component to complete the process. It's....me. 

As Langstrom said this, he began to keel over in pain. His body soon underwent a painful transformation. His body began to transform into that of a large bat. Eraserhead watched in shock and horror as Kirk Langstrom transformed into a bat and human hybrid. As the transformation was complete, Kirk Langstrom became Man-Bat.

Eraserhead: My God....what the hell did you do?

Man-Bat lets out a deafening roar as he flew towards Eraserhead and attacked him, but Eraserhead rolls out of the way. Eraserhead looks in horror as Man-Bat flies back towards him. Eraserhead barely dodges the attack. As Man-Bat gnashes his fangs and spreads his wings, the Pro Hero tries to talk him down. 

Eraserhead: Langstrom! Listen to me! This isn't you! I know you're in there! Fight it! 

Man-Bat replies with yet another roar as it picks up a table and throws it at Eraserhead. The table hits Eraserhead and Man-Bat immediately pounces on Eraserhead, trapping him beneath the table. 

Eraserhead: (Damn! He's...he's too heavy! I can't move!)

As Eraserhead struggles to free himself, Man-Bat growls in his face and lets out a terrifying screech. Before Man-Bat could finish him off, the fire alarm began to blare in the lab. The sound of the alarms prove deafening to Man-Bat as he flies out of the lab. Eraserhead was able to wrap his Combat Scarves around one of Man-Bat's legs. Eraserhead holds on tight as Man-Bat flies through the city. 

Eraserhead: (I can' afford to mess around! I need to subdue Langstrom quickly before he hurts someone!)

Eraserhead climbs up the Combat Scarves while Man-Bat flies. Soon enough, Eraserhead gets on Man-Bat's back and puts him in a headlock. Eraserhead tries to put a sleeper hold on Man-Bat, but Man-Bat resists fiercely. 

Eraserhead: (Damn it! Langstrom's too tough! I need to think of something fast!)

Eraserhead then changes his plans and takes control of Man-Bat and rides him like a glider. It soon becomes a struggle to maintain control of the beast as Man-Bat fiercely resists. Soon enough, Man-Bat dives through the roof of an apartment complex. As Eraserhead recovers, Man-Bat snarls at the Pro Hero. 

Eraserhead: I know you're in there, Langstrom. This isn't you! Stop this before it goes too far! Let me help you!  

Eraserhead's words fell on dear ears as Man-Bat growled at him. At this point, Eraserhead knew that his only option was to fight Man-Bat and hope he burns through whatever transformed him.

Eraserhead: All right....guess I have to fight you. I won't go easy on you, Langstrom. I'll have to knock some sense into you.....

As Eraserhead said this, Man-Bat lets out a deafening roar and charges at Eraserhead. Man-Bat then begins slashing his claws at Eraserhead, but he manages to dodge the attacks. Eraserhead throws a few punches, but they prove to be ineffective. Man-Bat retaliates by grabbing Eraserhead by the throat and slams him to the ground. He then throws Eraserhead away. As Eraserhead slowly recovers, he sees Man-Bat flying in the air. 

Eraserhead: Oh no you don't!

Eraserhead tosses his Combat Scarves around Man-Bat's neck and begins to choke him out. Man-Bat quickly turns around and begins to charge at Eraserhead, but the Pro Hero planned for this. Eraserhead rolls out of the way as Man-Bat slams to the ground. The resulting slam disorients Man-Bat long enough for Eraserhead to knock out Man-Bat with a punch to the face. As Man-Bat slumps to the ground, Eraserhead takes a moment to rest.

Eraserhead: Damn....

Man-Bat soon reverts back to Kirk Langstrom. Eraserhead then ties up the unconscious Langstrom and leaves an anonymous tip for the authorities as well as instructions to help Kirk Langstrom. After that, Eraserhead leaves the area and resumes his patrol of the city.
