CHAPTER FIVE.

CHAPTER FIVE:
excuse me, hello, can i get a one way ticket the hell out of here?

With those seven words panic started to set into Stiles. He ran over to one of the chained doors and rattled them.

"Stiles," Kennedy said softly but went unnoticed by Peter talking over her.

"What are you doing?"

"Little help, please?" Stiles said.

Peter shrugged as he got up from his seat on the chair and effortlessly ripped the chains off the door.

"Woah," Kennedy gasped in astonishment, Stiles' eyes shot over to her before going back to Peter.

"Okay!" The freckled boy mocked, putting his hands on the chain.

Kennedy placed her hand a top of Stiles. "There's no point," she whispered him.

Stiles looked at her warm hand that sat resting on his before his eyes trailed towards her blue ones. "There is, if it gets you- us out of here."

Kennedy sighed, before she relented and gave him a nod of encouragment. She knew that no matter what she told him, Stiles was the type of person to need to figure things out on his own in order to believe them. She watched as the brunette boy went through the doors and came out of one from across the station.

Stiles looked around. "What?"

"Stiles," Peter whispered to him as he ran over towards the two. "Left shoulder, against the pillar. Don't look, I said don't look!" He hissed as the two teenagers looked at the curly haired guy by the pillar. "He's watching us," he informs them.

"Crazy Trent?" Kennedy asked, realizing who they were talking about.

"You know him?" Peter addressed her for the first time.

Kennedy took a step away from his icy gaze. "Yeah, he came not too long after I did. He tried everything to get out of here and then he went on about this psychotic plan to use the cowboys to get us out."

"Use the cowboys?" Stiles asked for clarification.

Kennedy glanced at him before nodding. "Yeah, I can't remember how but he was going on about it for awhile. I learned to tune him out," she trailed off as she noticed Peter start to walk towards him.

"Come on," Stiles grabbed her hand pulling her along. "Hey!" He yelled towards Trent.

"Why are you watching us?" Peter asked him intimidatingly.

"You tried the doors," Trent chuckled. "Nobody ever tries the doors."

"Sounds like you have," Stiles said, his eyes watching the guy in front of him. He could see why Kennedy called him Crazy Trent, he had a sort of unhinged look about him. "I heard you got a plan. Why don't you tell us about it?"

"I can tell you, doesn't mean you can do it."

Stiles chuckled. "We can do it," he said smugly before correcting himself. "He can do it."

"Well, it's right in front of you," Trent told them, pointing towards a tunnel. "You didn't see it, did you?" He asked noticing the surprised looks on their face.

Stiles quickly recovered. "I saw it."

Trent smirked. "Then why'd you waste so much time running through the doors? I'll tell you why because its all apart of the illusion. You're afraid and they want you to be afraid."

"I'm not afraid," Peter told the curly hair boy boldly. The ex-alphw made his way towards the tunnel, the three young adults following behind him.

"Can't do it, can you?" Trent egged on before facing Stiles and Kennedy. "He can't do it."

"We really should kill him," Peter mumbled in irritation.

"Or," Stiles offered. "You can just walk through it."

Peter breathed heavily. "Push me," he demanded, Stiles quickly following through with his request.

"Now you're gettin' it," Trent told them as he followed after Peter, Stiles and Kennedy not too far behind.

Once they reach the end of the tunnel they just end up in another train station.

"Congratulations, you found another part of the phantom train station," Peter congratulated sarcastically.

"Is this the way out?," Stiles asked to no one in prticular, his left hand gripping Kennedy's tightly.

"If it was, we would be leaving."

"You might want to stay off the tracks," Crazy Trent informed them. "Cause that's the way in and out," he said, the sound of horses and thunder following after. "They're coming."

Kennedy watched in fear as three Ghost Riders came through the tunnel. The neighing of horses sent a chill down her spine. Stiles quickly pulled her behind a pillar to hide from them.

"That's the way out? How in the hell are we supposed to do that?" Peter asked Trent in disbelief, fear lacing his voice just slightly.

"We jump."

"Are you crazy?" Kennedy asked. "You know what, don't answer that."

"Jump?"

Trent nodded. "On the back of the riders as they go through," he explained his plan, ignoring both Peter and Kennedy's outbursts. "I've been timing it. Look, we can jump from here just before they go out."

"I think you're confusing your pronouns," Peter spoke up. "We aren't going to do anything, but you should absolutely give that a shot."

"Do you not wanna get out of here?" Trent yelled at them, his eyes wide and desperate.

"We want to get out alive, okay?" Stiles told him calmly. "How do you know this works? Seems like a lot could go wrong."

"Look, I can't stay here. I'm losing my mind in this place."

"No, you definitely already lost it," Kennedy mumbled to herself. "It's gone."

"I think you have an excellent grasp of the situation," Peter told the guy in front of him, suddenly changing his tune. "I say go for it."

"Hey, they're coming back!"

Kennedy, Peter, Stiles all hid behind another pillar as Trent readied himself in a jumping position.

"No, we can't let him do this, right?" Stiles tried to reason.

"What if he's right?" Peter shot back.

Stiles shook his head. "Hey, we'll figure something else out," he pitched to Trent. "Hey, look, there's gotta be another way out of this place."

"But there isn't," Trent insisted. "I've been looking for months. Are you comin' or not?"

"It's all you," Peter pointed to him.

Stiles let go of Kennedy's hand before he tried to run towards Trent and stop him.

"Let him try," Peter yelled at him as he held on to his arms.

All three of them watched as Trent succesfully jumped onto a Ghost Rider's horse, a little hope built its way inside of them at the sight. It soon came crashing down as they watched him rebound off the portal and then disappear.

"Somehow I don't think that went the way that he was hoping," Peter said breaking the silence.

Kennedy gasped as she looked at the spot Trent was just laying in. She took a step back in disbelief as her eyes started to swell with tears. Her hands started to shake and her eyes zeroed in on the ashes that lay where Trent once was.

He was gone.

There's no way to truly describe what its like to watch someone die. To watch them cease to exist.

Kennedy's emotions were everywhere, she didn't know what to feel. She just knew she needed to get away. She quickly ran off the platform and back into the tunnel. She wanted to get as much distance from herself and what she just saw as possible. However, as she ran away with tears streaming down her face and sobs stuck in her throat; it never occured to her that no matter how far she runs, she cannot run from her own mind or her own memory.
