The Visit
(wasn't planning on making any author's notes but since I'm putting a lot of thought and effort into making this as canon as possible I figured I give you all some behind-the-scenes fun facts on my thought process while making this.)
Author's Fun Fact #1- This story was originally supposed to be the story of the first Great Calamity waaaaaaay before the events of Breath of the Wild, hence why the story is named "Era of Myth" but I didn't want to make too many assumptions on what actually happened during that event. But, it would've given some meaning and explanations behind many of the unexplained landmarks in Breath of the Wild's overworld, including the massive hole in Hebra Peak, the three leviathan skeletons, Forgotten Temple, and many others.
Gerudo Town.
Lady Urbosa sat in her throne, tapping her long nails on the armrest in anticipation. She had received word the previous day that her good friend, the Queen of Hyrule, was coming to visit- and bringing her newborn daughter with her. Urbosa was very excited to meet the young child, and had a feeling they would get along well together.
Suddenly, the young Gerudo messenger ran into the throne room, panting slightly. "Sav'aaq, Chieftain Urbosa!" she said. "Visitors!"
"Calm yourself, Vuhvi." Urbosa said flatly. "You don't have to run in screaming every time someone enters the town."
"But, my lady," Vuhvi persisted, "It's the Hylian Queen!"
As if on cue, the Queen walked in behind the messenger, garbed in an elegant, dark blue dress with her long brunette hair flowing behind her, and a small baby swaddled in a pink blanket resting in her arms.
"That explains it." Urbosa finally said. "Welcome, Queen of Hyrule."
The two ladies laughed with each other as they sat at the table, making conversation over the feast that had been assembled for them.
"This is delicious! What is this?" the Queen asked as she skewered a piece of meat delicately on her fork, holding it up to her mouth and nibbling it.
"That is roasted Molduga fin." Urbosa explained. "A very rare and expensive meal, as Molduga are very large creatures which are hard to kill..."
"Hmmm..." the Queen said, now looking a little off about what she was eating. "I don't think I'm going to FIN-ish this." she smiled at Urbosa, snickering. Urbosa laughed. It felt good getting to spend time with her friend again.
When they were younger, they would talk more often. It was easy for them to run off as children, exploring the streets of Gerudo town, or the halls of Hyrule castle. But eventually, they became adults, and were forced to fulfill their duties to their people. It was especially hard for the Queen, as the Gerudo desert was so far away from Hyrule Castle...
The Queen pulled the bowl of wildberry pudding towards her, and took a spoonful. She then turned to the baby Zelda, who sat in the high seat next to her.
"Come on, Zelda, it's time for dinner." she reached the spoon out towards Zelda's mouth.
the baby Zelda pouted, and turned away from the spoon. "Hmph!" she refused.
"Zelda. Don't give me attitude. You need to eat."
"Hmph!" she continued to protest.
"Come on, little bird." the queen swirled the spoon in the air in front of Zelda's head. "Little birdie needs to get to the nest!"
Zelda slowly turned her head towards her mother, frowning, but when she saw the spoon moving in circles through the air, she got excited, opening her mouth.
Her mother pushed the spoon forward, allowing Zelda to swallow the spoonful of wildberry pudding.
"That's my little bird." the Queen said as she grabbed a napkin and wiped the pudding off Zelda's face, who was now smiling at her mother.
She makes an excellent mother. Urbosa thought gleefully. Zelda will be just like her when she grows up...
Hey everyone, sorry this chapter took so long to make but I've been distracted for a while and also hit a writer's block, I also apologize for it being so short and sloppy, as I wasn't sure what I wanted to put into this one. But fear not, I have a lot of ideas for what's to come. Stay tuned!
