"Saturday: Apples family reunion"

A/N: again not much of a picture but I felt it was best to add something of the house and barn. Enjoy!

"Alright Rainbow Dash," Rainbow Blaze looked at his daughter as they were all close to the front door. "One more time. How do you lock the house?"
"Trust me dad. I know." She said. "It's under the mat and lock the door, safe and secure."
"And the other thing?"
"Yes dad. For the tenth time, remember to come home before dark, which is basically seven thirty."
He smile at his little girl, proud to see she knew all the rules for safety.
"I wish we could come." Sky Blue said. "I love to see family reunions."
"Maybe one day if Applejack has another reunion, you guys can come too."
"That's a good idea." Rainbow Blaze agreed.
"You know, you and Applejack are such good friends. It would e hard to see you two fight at anything."
Coming from her was a compliment. "Thanks."
The three of them walked out of the house and Rainbow Blaze locked the door real tight. "Alright," he put it in his pocket. "Now you have a fun time Rainbow. We should be back around seen of six thirty. You tell Applejack we said hi."
"I will. You guys have fun on y'all's date. And don't get too wasted." She joked.
They always laughed at that. While Rainbow Dash was going to the reunion of the Apples, Rainbow Blaze and Sky Blue were going on a fancy date. Seems the rainbow family had plans.
Rainbow Dash was excited to go. She always wanted to meet more of Applejack's family. They were the biggest family anyone could possibly known. She hope to mostly meet Applebloom's cousin Babs since she's always talking about her.
It was a long walk for Rainbow, but she finally made it to the barn. She jumped up and said "Alright Apple family! Rainbow Dash is in the house!"
But when she saw the barn and everything, they all looked the same, no party equipment, no food, no one around.
"Okay. Maybe I'm a little early."
But she looked down and saw someone sitting on the bench with a depressing look on her face. She ran down the hill as made it up to her and saw her not looking up. "Am I too early? I could help with the decoration and plans AJ." She said.
Applejack didn't say anything. The only thing she did was cry in her arms.
Rainbow began to panic. "I'm sorry. Did I say something?"
"No. It's not you Rainbow." She said finally looking in her eyes. "It's just... there is no reunion."
Now she didn't understand.
"What? Why not?"
"Remember I told you about my great aunt Applerose?"
She mention her a few times. Mostly Granny Smith did. "Yes."
"Last night, she died of having a heart attack. She's gone."
This was so bad. Dash didn't know what to do. She knew what it was like to lose someone with death. She wished there was something she could do.
She at down next to the crying cowgirl, wrapped her arm around her and said "I'm sorry Applejack."
"And now Buckley can't come over cause he had a family emergency."
Rainbow wasn't sure she should be upset about that.
"And now if we don't get this barn cleaned up, we'll lose it."
"You can't lose this barn. It's your home."
"Apparently not, unless we can fix everything, but it's obviously we'll never get this done with a problem like this."
Rainbow was worried. Seems that everything was going wrong for Applejack. Her great aunt died, Buckley can't be there, and now she might lose the barn.
She looked out into the fields and crops, seeing how they were almost filled with dirt and loads of a mess. The barn was a little dirty. Then that's when Rainbow had the idea.
"You might be able to have your barn still." She said smiling. Then she stood on her feet and ran to the fields grabbing a tool to slice them away. (I don't know what some tools are call. I apologize).
Applejack watched her friend trying to pushed the stuff out of the ground and was making it pretty easy. She smiled of how silly she was kinda being.
With her surprise, Granny Smith came outside seeing her grand-daughter watching her rainbow friend trying to help.
"What in tarnation is she doing?" She asked her.
"Apparently I'm guessing she's cropping the fields." Applejack answered.
Granny smiled of how silly Rainbow was being. She began to walked to the girl leaving her grand-daughter there watching still.
Rainbow did her hardest, but it wasn't easy for her. "Dang, this is hard." She panted.
"Actually honey," Granny said to her making her jump a little. "You're suppose to put it in the trash by lifting it."
Rainbow never thought of that. So she use her tool to lift up the mess. She smiled, finally getting the point.
Then a trash can appear in the arms of Applejack facing Rainbow Dash so she court put it on the dump.
Rainbow smiled of helping the Apples, even though she didn't know what to do at first.
"Thank Rainbow, but you don't have to do it. We'll figure out how to handle, the problem." Applejack said.
"I know. But I wanna help. I mean, I know what it's like to lose a family member." Rainbow Dash said.
"Oh why thank you dearly." Granny said. "You certainly have made my day a little better. You know, we do need some help with the tree picking if you feel like doing that instead."
Rainbow smiled, actually looking forward to it.
She and Applejack went into the trees and grabbed some apples off. It was easy for Applejack since she's grown to do it, but Rainbow was having a hard time with it.
Applejack decided to give her hints of what to do and Rainbow Dash soon began to understand what she's doing. She was actually having fun with it. And this whole time, she thought doing chores were boring.
She later was trying to move a bucket of apples into a wagon, but it was pretty heavy. Luckily, Big Mac was coming outside and saw she needed help. He smiled and walk to her to grab the battle and carry it to the wagon for her.
What was funny was that Applejack was carrying one barrel. She made it look so easy. Dash was shocked.
Soon, the entire Apple family began to help.
Rainbow Dash and Applebloom were watering some corn crops so they can grow pretty good, and they were also feeding the horses they have in their barn.
Winona was also helping by grabbing a rope with her teeth by dragging a pile of apples. When she reached to the top, she barked in victory.
Granny Smith and Applejack were cleaning the windows with their clean rags, making it sparkly clean. When they both turn to the other side of the barn, they saw Rainbow Dash cleaning them too, but she had dirt all in her hair and some parts of her face. That was a certain laugh for them both, even Rainbow, to be laughing at.
Big Mac and Applebloom were grabbing some bottles for their Fizzy Apple Cider they'll be making soon and placed them in boxes for safe keeping. They were proud to be brother and sister.
Applejack and Rainbow Dash carried a box together since it was so heavy. It was full of some breakables. They weren't exactly looking, and Rainbow Dash began to fall by slipping from the mud that were given for the pigs. Luckily behind her, Big Mac got a chance to grab her and keep her still standing on her feet. She and Applejack laugh at the fun they were having.
Inside, Applebloom was putting stuff that were on the ground away. Seems it was mostly half of her stuff.
Applejack and Big Mac were able to clean their table to be nice and shiny for their dinner.
Before anyone could know it, time went by so much, their barn was clean, amazing, and it was still their's to keep. The Apples, even Rainbow Dash, couldn't have been happier to get something done in time.

(Later that day...)

Their day was half over. The sun was setting but not to where it could get dark. The moon was barley shown.
Applebloom and Big Mac remain outside finishing up the last nice they had to ring inside the barn.
As for Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Granny Smith they remain inside for the moment.
"Thank you so much Rainbow Dash." Applejack said. "The barn looks fantastic."
"Well I couldn't let down my friends of the Apples, could I?" She said smiling mostly at Applejack.
"How can we ever repay you Rainbow?" Granny asked.
"Well, I was a little thirsty for some Fizzy Apple Cider..." She grinned in beg for the cider.
"Oh there'll be more than that pumpkin. We're making Apple pies tonight."
They were in the kitchen getting ready for their meal. Rainbow was lucky to stay and enjoy it with them. This was simply an okay day. Everyone had kinda forgotten about the death of Applerose, but they knew Applerose wouldn't want them upset in the first place.
"Just remember honey." Granny said showing Rainbow Dash what to do. "The best way to make your pies special, is to fold your batter. Too much will make them as hard as a lump of coal."
"Got it." Rainbow raised her hand to her forehead to proved she's got it.
Then Granny handed her the bowl and let her continued folding.
Applejack walked into their kitchen and gave Rainbow Dash a hugged from behind surprising her.
"W-What are you doing?" She asked blushing pink.
"Giving you a hug." Applejack answered. "I don't know what we could have done without coming to help us out."
"Well, thanks."
"No, thank you Rainbow. You're simply a hero to this family. Now I better help Big Mac and Applebloom with the table setting." She ran back into the dining room to help.
Dash smiled watching her friend be as happy as ever.
"I do thank you a lot on everything sugarcube." Granny said smiling as well too.
"It was my pleasure. I'm always happy to give the barn a hand."
"But mostly for Applejack."
Rainbow stopped her folding with the batter and looked at Granny confused. "What do you mean?"
"Simple honey. You're the one who knows how to make Applejack better. I just wish you were in Buckley's position to do it even more."
Rainbow Dash almost dropped the batter when she heard that. "I-I-In Buckley's position?"
"You know. Of being her girlfriend."
Dash's jaw dropped.
"Oh I know love honey like the back of my hand, and you certainly have shown it more than Buckley. Even though he is a sweet boy. I can see you and Applejack together since you're so blush able."
"H-How did you know?"
"Simple. You're blushing a lot, you actually stayed to help, and you're always there when she needs you the most."
Rainbow was red instead of pink. So surprising that Granny Smith knew her feelings.
"You know honey, she needs someone like you. Buckley is alright, as sweet as he can be like honey, but seem to be the person Applejack has been searching for her life."
Rainbow couldn't believe of what she was hearing.
"I know it is hard to be there, but you've definitely have been given my respects."
"Um, you mean, you're not upset of anything? I mean, nothing personal, but I always thought that you would be against it that I like your grand-daughter."
"Oh no sugar cube. I simply adore some lesbian or gay couples. Even though in may not passed down the Apple family, what's more important about being an Apple is being with someone who can make you smile. You prove you can make Applejack smile and I thank you for that."
She couldn't believe it. She thought Granny Smith would be against it that her grand-daughter who date another girl. But she was certainly half she got respects from her.
"Uh, don't say anything please."
"Oh honey, my lips are seal and sticky as forest sap on a Apple tree."
Dash chuckled at her silly words.
Then Applejack came back in and asked "Hey Granny, is it still okay for Buckley to come over and have dinner with us?"
Rainbow stopped folding and looked at Applejack as she still remained in the room.
"You sure honey? It's almost getting a little late. Is everything alright with him?"
"Yeah. His pa just had a heart problem, and now it's fix. So, is okay?"
Rainbow prayed in her head no.
"Well okay honey. Sure."
Before anyone could spot her, Rainbow continued folding, except this time, was faster as full of force.
"I'm glad his pa is feeling alright. I don't know what I would do if his went away too." Applejack said.
All this talking about Buckley made Rainbow Dash go faster and harder with anger. She finally spoke her teeth still grinning. "I bet."
Then she lost control and lift the bowl in air making it began it fall on top of Applejack.
Splash!
Granny Smith looked back and saw the small mess. "Oh dear."
It seems to missed Applejack since she moved away from where the bowl was going and it landed on Rainbow's head instead making her hair a big mess.
"You okay Rainbow?" Applejack asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine." She said trying not to look, or sound mad.

Dinner was very exciting to the Apples. Everyone was laughing and talking. Buckley was getting in on the fun with them. Applejack just loved everything about that boy. Rainbow Dash on the other hand was so quiet, barley anyone noticed her.
"And it's seems my aunt just decided to let out her gas and my nose cursed till the end of the night. It was nasty." He said.
The Apples laughed at almost everything he said. The only one who started to notice Rainbow Dash was Granny Smith. She was started to get a little worried.
"Aw man. I love this guy." Applejack wrapped her arm around his and laid her head against it.
"Oh get a room!" Applebloom teased.
"I am very sorry for the lost of your great aunt. Applerose sounded like loads of fun."
"Oh she was." Granny Smith said. "She and I use to do everything together. I bet right now, she's glad that she's seeing us laughing instead of crying, cause she wouldn't want us to cry."
"Eeyup." Big Mac said.
"And I think one person wee should thank the most for working hard with us and making us smile again."
Everyone looked at Granny of her being excited.
"We want to give you all the thanks Rainbow Dash. You're one rainbow we would love to see everyday. To Rainbow!"
"To Rainbow!" Everyone cheered after Granny.
This made her blushed the slightest of pink. She felt honored on the outside with everyone being so sweet, but on the inside, she felt the sadness returning as she watched Buckley give Applejack a kiss.
Their dinner was satisfying of smiles in the air. Rainbow felt awesome that she stayed for a little later but she knew her dad will be having a talk with her when she gets home.
She walked to everyone and said goodbye and gave them hugs. Applebloom got the biggest huge of all. When she walked outside, she saw Applejack and Buckley outside on the porch. She felt anger spread through her again.
"I'm glad you came tonight." Applejack said rubbing his hand.
"Me too. I'm glad you and Rainbow are starting to get along." Then he looked at his watch and stood on his feet with Applejack. "I gotta get going. My pop might need me."
"Just to let you know," she wrapped her arms around her neck. "You're one person who made me smile today."
Rainbow's heart stopped. The only one? What about her?
Applejack gave him a kiss and he went off in his red truck and left Sweet Apple Acres. Rainbow felt she needed to get outta there. She started to walk out of the house and past Applejack without saying goodbye.
"Hey Rainbow." Applejack stopped her with her words. "Thanks for giving everyone a good day."
"Yeah. Whatever." She said a little rude.
Applejack could tell the difference in her voice but tried to pretend nothing was wrong. "So you want to hand out tomorrow? Me and Buckley were thinking of watching a horror film. Might be romantic."
"No thanks. I rather not be a third-wheel like today."
Now this was getting to the cowgirl.
"What is wrong with you? Just today, you were the fun and helpful Rainbow Dash. Why are you acting like this?"
Rainbow Dash couldn't hold back her anger she's going through. "Oh! So I can just be some prize to be ignore no matter what I do to help you or anybody!"
"Hey! We didn't ask you to help! You decided to so that!"
"It doesn't matter of you asked me or not! I still would have help! But I would like to be appreciated or all I've done for you guys!"
"Everyone's appreciated what you did!"
"Yeah except you! 'Oh Buckley, you're the only one who made me smile today'. If so, what did he do Applejack?! Was he around trying to comfort you?! No! Was he the one who wanted to save your barn?! No!"
Applejack hated to be corrected, and she certainly didn't give up. "He had an family emergency! And I do appreciate everything you've done!"
"Really? Cause you never seem to!"
"You know what? That's it! I've tried making it easy on you! I tried to be a better person! And what do you do?! Nothing but complain how it's not about you! I'm done trying to make this friendship work!"
"Well fine! Just know you've made a mistake from the very beginning!"
"And you know it's too bad cause I was gonna invite you to come to my great aunt's funeral maybe you wouldn't still have your heart with you!"
"Fine!"
"Fine! Now get off my property you animal!" Then she stomped to the front door and slammed it shut making a loud slam.
Rainbow turned around not wanting to see the barn again. But when felt anger through her, she began to feel sadness. 'Maybe you wouldn't still have your heart with you at the funeral!' Kept repeating in her head. She didn't think they were gonna invite her. She would loves to go. Now it's was probably too late.
So she ran off of Sweet Apple Acres and went home with the tears falling.
Applejack stomped herself to her bedroom slamming the door. Applebloom walked up to the door and asked "Are you okay Applejack?"
"Yes!"
She just wanted to be alone with her emotions.
"That dang Rainbow. Always thinking she's right about everything." She laid back against the bed and tried clearing her head.
But she kept hearing her voice screaming on her head. 'Was he around trying to confront you?! Was he the one who wanted to save your barn?!'
She began to think of the day. She made good points. He wasn't always around all day and he didn't help with the barn. But that was cause he had a family problem, right?
A knocked appear at her door an it creaked open revealing Granny Smith looking at her grand-daughter. "Can I come in?"
"Sure Granny." She said not looking up.
Granny Smith closed the door behind her and say on the bed seeing her grand-daughter's face with anger. "Did you both get into it again?"
"Yep. I just.." She finally say up to face her Granny. "It doesn't matter what I do, she's always saying bad stuff about Buckley. I mean, what do I have to do just for her to see how great he is?"
"Oh I don't think you should do that sugarcube." Granny said. "I think the best you can do right now, is apologize."
Applejack's eyes widen at her Granny. "Apologize? What did I do?"
"Applejack, Rainbow Dash was the only one around trying to make us feel better about your great aunt. She was mostly concern on making you happy, as you seem to be."
Applejack began to understand what Rainbow meant by Buckley not always being around.
"Now I'm not saying Buckley is bad, but your friends sometimes, you might want to listen to them sometimes. Rainbow Dash has a special part in her heart for you, and she she won't stop being your friend, even of you two get into the slightest bit of a fight. Don't you think, maybe you were being a little hard on her for what she's done for us?"
She looked down to the floor and actually understood what Granny was getting at. Now she feels like the worst friend for being so hard on Rainbow. "Oh man. I must be worse than the last family reunion. I gotta be the worst friend to ever be alive."
"Oh honey that's not true." She wrapped her around her shoulders. "You're just blind by love like your father was when he met your mama."
"Really?"
"Uh huh. He use to believe whatever his friends sofa were rude, but he didn't realized he was the one being rude by ignoring them. Your a good friend Applejack. The most you can do for Rainbow right now, is apologize."
Applejack was glad Granny Smith was always around. "I guess you're right. I'll try to apologize on Mondy when I see her in school."
"That a girl." Granny patted Applejack's hat. "And trust me, I'm sure Rainbow will forgive ya."
Sure Granny may think so, but does Applejack think so?
They've fought so many times, neither one of them could keep count.
Rainbow ran down the street, letting the tears fly away from her eyes as she ran off. But suddenly, she bumped into someone and fell to the ground. She wasn't hurt, but only her heart remain that way. She looked up and saw the people she ran into looking very worried.
"Rainbow Dash? What happen?" Fluttershy asked giving her a hand to stand up.
As Rainbow got on her feet, she said immediately "Nothing. Nothing is wrong."
"Rainbow your eyes are wet." Sunset Shimmer said.
"Just leave me alone." Then she ran off, leaving the two girl by their selves.
"Oh dear. Do you think she might be okay?"
"I don't know Fluttershy. I hate to see her upset about something. And I think I know what the problem is."
Rainbow Dash wouldn't stop running and running till she made it home. It was dark and she knew she was gonna get yelled for it.
She ran up the small stairs and lifted the mat to get the key and unlock the door immediately. She saw her dad sitting on the chair like he did when she return home from the date, but she didn't even bother to say hi or explain why she came home so late. All she did was run into her bedroom and cry on her bed.
She smashed her face against the pillow and just burst her tears into it.
"Are you alright Rainbow?" She heard Sky Blue's voice appear outside her door.
"Leave me alone!" She yelled.
"Now Rainbow Danger Dash! That is no way to talk to Sky Blue like that!" Rainbow Blaze yelled at his daughter's door.
"I'm sorry! Just leave me alone! I'm sorry I came home late! I'm sorry I yelled at you guys! Just let me be by myself!" She continue to sob into the pillow.
Rainbow Blaze was thinking of yelling again, but Sky Blue's hand stopped his arm and she said "Maybe she needs some time alone. I know what it's like to be a teenager. I was really sensitive."
He really wanted to see why his daughter would be crying. But maybe Sky Blue's point of letting her by herself would make it better.
He left alone and didn't go to sleep. Sky Blue was exhausted so she went instead. He was up and it was now one in the morning.
He walked up with stairs and knew how much his daughter stays awake late sometimes. He knocked gently on Rainbow's door and said calmly "Rainbow Dash? Are you alright in there?"
He couldn't help but feel his daughter has run off. He turn the knob and slowly open the door making the light shine into Dash's room. He didn't see much. All he saw was his daughter laying there with Tanks under her arm sleeping.
Seems she cried herself to sleep.
He smiled of how cute she look. He hasn't seen her look this adorable since Rainbow Shine was actually saying yes to marry him. He missed seeing her sometimes.
He walked to her slowly and saw she was freezing a little. She did take off her short-sleeve jacket. So he did something he hasn't done in a long time.
He took off her blue shoes gently, closed the window curtains, and grabbed the covers to cover his daughter making her feel warm again as it seems the tears from her eyes were the only thing that made her feel cool.
He smiled seeing her smile as she felt the warmth come back.
Tank unfortunately woke up and saw Rainbow Blaze above her. He shushed to the turtle to not wake her up. Tank only smiled slowly and licked her cheek making her sleep be a little better.
Rainbow Blaze bend to his knees and moved some of Rainbow Dash's hair and kissed the same cheek Tank licked. He whispered "Goodnight Dashie."
She snuggle up to the pillow with a bigger smile. That only made his smile grow big too.
Them he walked out of his daughter's room and closed the door quietly, leaving the sleepy girl and her turtle alone.

A/N: I think loved the ending the most. I want to mostly thank Fantasy_fairies and IllirisDaphne for inspiring me to continue this story. Y'all are awesome! See y'all on the next chapter.
