➵ Tree girl
12 year old Nevah after being claimed
I glared at everyone in the room and stomped away. Grumbling curses under my breath, I pushed opened the door to leave the Big House. Campers were minding their own business, at least up until the boy from earlier followed after me.
"Hey, wait!" The boy grasped my arm, stopping me.
"Let go of my arm." I twirled around to face him. My green eyes narrowed at him.
"Sorry." He sheepishly let go of my arm. The boy rubbed the back of his neck anxiously. "Um, I'm Percy by the way. Did you understand what the green trident was?"
"Don't talk to me." I rolled my eyes and started to walk away. "And I'm not stupid. I figured Poseidon was my dad a few months ago."
All due to Chris explaining everything to me once he figured out I can control water and all of that jazz.
"Wait!" Percy jogged over to me. He started to walk by my side.
"Don't you understand I don't want to talk to you?" I perked an eyebrow.
"Well, yeah, but I don't really care." Percy shrugged. I pressed my lips together and slowly nodded. Okay...maybe he isn't that bad. "And I've just been trying to tell you that we're siblings."
Never mind.
"Well that's a punishment." I frowned and started to pick up my pace. Percy gasped.
"Where are you going?"
"Away from you." I sarcastically gave him a cheesy smile and a peace sign. Going around campers, I followed the pull towards the water. Maybe if I just sit at the bottom of the water at the beach I can think and be by myself.
And far away from this guy.
"Woah, wait a minute-"
"Yo, Percy!" A heard a boyish voice call out.
Slightly turning my head to see who was calling my supposed brother, I saw two campers jog with mischievous grins on their faces. They almost looked like twins, maybe they were, but it was obvious that they were siblings. I frowned at the thought of siblings.
"Are you getting kicked out of camp or not?" The other boy asked.
"No, now can I-"
The boys started to continue asking questions and I used that to walk up to the beach. I blocked them out and shoved my hands into my pockets. My sneakers started to sink into the sand of the beach. The salty air instantly calming me down.
I took a deep breathe in and let a small smile spread across my lips. Walking towards the shoreline, I closed my eyes and let my instincts towards the water pull me in. The cool water touched my skin as I got deeper.
"Hey!" I heard Percy yell. I let out a groan of annoyance. "Get back over here so we can finish talking."
"Why can't you see I'm trying to stay far away from you?" I shot back, turning to face him.
He was stomping to the beach with the brothers, and a few campers, slowly following behind him. Nosey people.
"Man, Percy, she wants to avoid you so bad that she wants to drown herself." One of the brothers laughed before he abruptly stopped. He quickly looked at me with wide eyes. "You're not going to drown yourself right?"
"No." I rolled my eyes. "Are all campers this dumb?"
"Percy, I'm loving your sister more and more." Clarisse snickered. I tilted my head and gave her a look. She only gave me a smirk. "Oh yeah, she's definitely the better Poseidon kid."
"You have another sibling?" Another camper asked Percy.
"Wow, Poseidon has been busy."
"He hasn't for years though..."
"Shut up. There's still kids here." A girl with long black hair smacked the other camper in the back of their heads.
"Look Nevah," the blonde girl from earlier broke through the crowd. I held back a groan. "I totally understand where you're coming from, okay? I've only trusted two people before I came into this camp. No one is going to hurt you here."
"I won't let them even if they tried." I crossed my arms. "Now, can y'all let me be alone?"
"Let her have her space guys," another camper said.
"But..." Percy started.
"No." Clarisse nodded, looking at the camper. "Beckendorf is right. This kid has been used to be alone for years and all of us being here is too much."
"She's right Percy." The blonde girl licked her lips staring at my brother. I started to slowly walk deeper into the water as the campers' attention was on Percy. "It was overwhelming for me, but Luke was there. She doesn't know anyone here at all. Let her have some alone time."
Percy frowned and turned to look at me. The cyclops and the satyr walked up next to the blonde.
"Okay," Percy softly said. "Just come look for me when you're ready to talk or look for our cabin."
I gave him a curt nod and dove into the water. Sinking to the bottom was a lot more relaxing than I had imagined it being.

By the time I got out of the water, it was already late. The sky was a dark shade of blue with twinkling stars and a crescent moon. Shoving my hands into my jean pockets, I walked towards the small group of campers chilling out by the fire. They were laughing at someone's joke. The girl from earlier spotted me and grinned.
"Looking for your brother?" The girl asked. I sheepishly nodded. "He's in cabin 3 already with Tyson."
"Um, where's cabin 3 exactly?" I swayed in my feet.
"Why don't you go ahead and show her Silena?" Beckondorf suggested with a smile. Silena blushes as she quickly stood up.
"Come on, I'll show you the way." Silena walked over to me. "It's not that far."
"Thanks." I awkwardly mumbled, following her.
"I know you may not know it yet, but I think you and Percy are going to get along just fine. And he will be a great older brother to you and Tyson." Silena stated. "He is protective over those he cares about."
"How can he care about me? We're only half siblings." I looked up at Silena with my brows furrowed.
"You're his little sister, of course he is going to care for you. Everyone in this camp cares about each other in different amount, some hide it or show it as tough love. Take my siblings and I. We're very supportive, even if there are times were we are at each other's throats. This camp is your second family."
"Well I no longer have a first family anymore." I muttered.
"But you have people who care for you, right?" Silena raised an eyebrow.
"I had a friend who helped me out a lot before coming to this camp. He used to be a camper here long ago." I slightly smiled.
"See? You consider him as family, don't you?"
"I guess in a way I do." I slowly nodded.
"Just don't stress about it. You're in a new environment with new people. Give it time. And watch, you and your brothers will bond and you will be happy." Silena nudged my arm with a grin.
"I guess you're right." I softly smiled. "It won't hurt to give them a chance."
"That's the spirit!" Silena chuckled out.
"Hey, by the way," I shyly looked at Silena, "Why did you blush back there? Are you and Beckondorf dating?"
Silena stumbled over her words as her face turned red under the moonlight. I giggled at her reaction. Looking ahead, she let out a sigh and grabbed my hand.
"Look, there's the cabin. Percy and Tyson should be there. Have a goodnight!" Silena pushed my towards the cabin and practically ran away.
"Um...thanks?" I blinked. Turning around to knock on the door, I saw Percy standing with a grin he held the door open. "That's creepy."
"Ready to hangout with the bestest brother you could ever have?" Percy said.
"I'm pretty sure bestest isn't a word..." I raised an eyebrow.
"It is in my dictionary. C'mon in." Percy waved me inside.
"You are weird." I muttered to myself, walking into the cabin. "Where is the cyclops? I thought he was our brother?"
"Tyson? Yeah he is." Percy nodded, closing the door. He walked over to a bottom bunk and sat down. "He had to, uh, go with Dad and work at the forges."
"Oh..." I muttered.
"Do you want something to eat?" Percy asked. "You skipped dinner so I brought you a plate. I didn't know what you liked, so I'm sorry if it isn't to your liking."
"Thank you." I smiled softly. "Where is it?"
"Oh, right, um, it's over there. I got you some Big Blue too." Percy pointed towards a desk in the corner of the room.
I got up and walked towards the plate to see it filled with enchiladas, rice, and beans. I sat down in the seat and started to eat.
"Is that okay?"
"It's fine, thank you Percy." I smiled gratefully.
"So," Percy let out, bringing his leg up onto the bed and bent it. He lazily placed an arm on it. "How did you come to Camp?"
"Oh, um, a satyr brought me. I was fighting a monster." I mumbled, picking at the crust of my sandwich.
"And your mom? Does she know you are here?" Percy questioned.
"She's dead." I bluntly stated. Tears started to collect in my eyes. Percy blinked in surprise.
"Oh gods, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to-"
"Can we not talk about this? Please." I pushed the plate away from me, my appetite lost.
"Gods, Nevah, I didn't mean to upset you. I'm sorry." Percy continued to apologize.
"I'm just going to go to sleep. Is that bed taken?" I asked, averting my eyes towards the top bunk in the corner.
"No." Percy softly said.
I nodded and started to climbed up the ladder to the top bunk. Kicking off my shoes, they loudly clattered on the ground. I slipped under the covers and turned my back on my brothers. Tears started to fall down my cheeks and onto the pillow.
"Goodnight."
My brother muttered "goodnight" back. It wasn't long before the lights went out and silence rang in my ears before thunder crackled outside the cabin.

There was a banging on the door in the morning. Groaning, I sat up and rubbed at my eyes. The door swung open to reveal the satyr Percy was friends with.
"Percy!" He stuttered wide eyed. "Annabeth... on the hill...she..."
Percy ripped off his covers and threw on a shirt. Looking at the state my brother was in, I jumped off the bed my bare feet touching the cold floor. Confused, I looked down at my feet wondering where my socks went while I slept.
"She's lying there...just lying there..." the satyr continued.
"Is she okay?" I asked. The satyr turned to look at me. His eyes said it all.
Percy ran out the door, the satyr and I right behind him. Campers were already heading to the hill along with nymphs and satyrs. Most were in their armor with Greek armor on top.
The clip of horse hooves made me turn around and see Chiron in his centaur form. I gawked at him, never seeing a centaur this close.
"Is it true?" Chiron asked Percy's friend. He nodded with a dazed look.
"What's going on?" Percy asked. Chiron grabbed his arm and slung him onto his back. They ran off.
"Well that's no fair." I whined. "He gets a ride and we have to walk up the hill."
A camper snorted behind me. I ignored them and ran up the hill to catch up. I wanted to know what was going on.
"Curse the Titan Lord," Chiron said as I stopped next to him. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at the pine tree in front of us. There was a Golden Fleece on a branch. "He's tricked us again, given himself another chance to control the prophecy."
Prophecy? What prophecy?
"What do you mean?" Percy asked.
"The Fleece. The Fleece did it's work too well." Chiron responded. He galloped closer to the tree, put moving out of their way. I quickly jogged towards them.
"It healed the tree and poison was not the only thing it purged." Chiron stated.
As I broke through the crowd, the blonde girl from yesterday making their way towards Chiron and Percy.
"It...she...just suddenly there..." the girl stammered with tears streaming down her cheeks. Looking past her, I saw a girl with short black hair lying on the ground unconscious. Percy jumped off of Chiron's back and ran towards the black haired girl.
"Percy, wait!"
Percy ignored Chiron and knelt by her side. I slowly crept forward.
"It's true." The satyr panted next to Chiron and the blonde girl. "I can't believe..."
Percy places his hand on the girl's forehead.
"She needs nectar and ambrosia." Percy said. I looked back towards the campers and noted that no one was moving.
"Do they not know where to get that or?" I looked at Percy. He snapped his head toward me.
"What?" Percy said as he picked up the girl's head to lean on his shoulder.
"They aren't moving and I would go but I have no clue where anything is besides the beach and our cabin." I muttered, fiddling with my hands. My brother turned towards the campers.
"Come on!" He yelled, her eyes darkening. "What's wrong with you people? Let's get her to the Big House."
There was a cough from the girl before she opened her eyes. Electric blue eyes that I have never seen before.
"Who-" the girl looked bewildered as she shivered and stared at Percy.
"I'm Percy, that's Nevah," Percy pointed towards me. I awkwardly waved. "You're safe now."
"Strangest dream..."
"It's okay."
"Dying."
"No," Percy assured her. "You're okay. What's your name?"
"I am Thalia. Daughter of Zeus." The girl said.
"Oh, cool! We're Poseidon's kids." I motioned my fingered between Percy and I. Percy gaped at the girl. "That makes us cousins right? Ya know since our dad's our brothers and everything."
"Uh, Nevah-"
"Shush Percy, I'm making a friend. She's new like me." I waved Percy away. Thalia looked at me amused. "Say, I'm taking you as a rock type of gal. You like Green Day?"
"Oh, we're going to be best friends." Thalia grinned at me.
