➵ Sticky Hands Part II
"Alright, can you all hear me?" Annabeth asked through the ear comms Harley made for us (Leo may or may not have told his younger sibiling about our quest of sorts). Multiple forms of yes played in my ear.
Everyone was already in their postisions. Annabeth and Stiles were in the camp van with laptops. Percy and I were in the alleyway behind the tower. Leo and Nico were at the shop across the street since Nico will shadow travel them both in. The Stolls and Will were currently sitting at the bench in front of the building next door.
"This is so cool. I feel like I'm in a spy movie or something." I grinned, standing next to my brother. Percy chuckled as he unscrewed the vent screen.
"Okay, Perce, Nev. You guys ready?" Stiles asked. I could already see him anxiously biting his lip and fiddling with his fingers. "We're almost done here."
"Yeah, we're good." Percy comfirmed as the both of us took the vent screen off and placed it against the wall.
"Alright." Annabeth trailed off. "You guys can go in. Stolls and Will, follow in about five minutes. Leo, Nico. You two go in at seven."
"Copy that." I huffed, climbing into the vent with Percy following behind me.
▷
"Oh how I hate vents." I complained, my hands and knees aching. I lost count on what floor we were on after eight. "Couldn't he had made these bigger or wider? Maybe even with cushion?"
"Stop your whining and move it." Percy grumbled, wiping his forehead from sweat. "At least your small enough for this thing. I'm six foot."
"Who is complaining now?" I shot back. Percy grumbled curses under his breath.
"Okay, there should be a vent screen to your left....right about....now." Annabeth told us. Sure enough, there was a screen. Crawling towards it, I tried to push it open. Nothing.
Sighing, I situated myself onto my butt and kicked at it. The screen moved slighty. Kicking again, the screen fell. Percy quickly scrambled past me and caught the screen before it clattered to the ground. We both sighed in relief.
"I'll go first." Percy said. I nodded, moving to the side and allowing him to jump out first. He handed me the screen before dropping below. Giving Percy back the screen, I jumped and landed in a crouch. "Okay, we're in."
"Go to the hallway to your right." Stiles instructed us. Following his command, we walked down the hallway.
"Do you guys see anyone?" I asked, looking around.
"So far, no one. I don't even know where the falculty and Stark is...it's weird." Annabeth informed.
"Okay, first door to your left should be the lab you two." Stiles stated. Stopping in front of the door, Percy and I took out our swords. Nodding at my brother, he opened the door. I quickly pointed my sword forward in case there was any form of threat.
"No one is in here." Percy looked around the room. Metal suits, tools, high tech computers and softeware, and a weird looking robot were scattered all over the room.
"Who are you two?" Someone asked behind us. Turning around, I saw a robot looking man phase through the wall.
"Not another ghost." I whined.
"I'm no ghost." The man tilted his head as he observed Percy and I. He kept his gaze on our swords. "Who are you two?"
"Uh, guys. We have company." Percy informed everyone else.
"There are no heat signatures coming off of him." Annabeth stated.
"Guys! Woah!" Leo's voice came through the comms. "Found Stone-gods has your mother taught you better than to play with fire! Fifth floor."
"And hurry! He has his toys with him and Leo and I can't deflect all of them." Nico added. Percy and I looked at each other with worry.
"Heh, you see..." I started to tell the ghost robot guy. "Um, we're high level agents and there's a bad guy in the fifth floor that we need to take in. So umm...bye?"
With that Percy and I ran past the ghost and into the hallway.
"Where are the elevators?!" Percy asked Annabeth and Stiles.
"To your left!" Percy and I cut the corner to our left and continued running. "Now a right and go straight. It's going to be there."
Following Stiles directions we ran to the elevator and frantically pressed the button. Once the elevator dinged open, we quickly entered. I pressed the fifth floor button before repeatedly hitting the close button. The elevator closed shut and it started to make its descent. I looked at Percy making sure he was okay.
"I'm fine." Percy gave me a tight smile. His knuckles were white from gripping the hilt of Riptide too tightly. I gave him a look. "I'm fine, Nev. Nico and Leo need our help. PTSD can wait."
Before I could even lecture him, the doors opened. Percy sighed in relief before running out. Cursing under my breath, I followed. Sounds of swords clashing coming from our right directed us towards the fight.
We reached the end of the hallway to see a whole wall knocked down with debris and scorch marks everywhere. Nico was in a sword fight with Stone. Leo was trying to burn away the green goop on his feet while his hands quickly worked on some type of device. The Stolls were being chased by two "firecrackers" with Will throwing a broken table at it.
"Oh finally!" Nico cried out as he saw us, somersualting away from Stone's sword.
"I got Stone, you help the others." Percy told me.
I nodded and quickly ran forward, extending my hand out to summon water from the pipes. Water burst out from the pipes in the ceiling. Splitting the water into two, I sent one to the goop keeping Leo stuck and the other to the firecrackers still following the Stolls. The goop quickly dissolved away as the water put out the fire in the firecrackers.
"Thanks, Nev." Leo patted my shoulder before glaring at Stone. "We attacking?"
"We better." The Stolls and Will walked up next to us.
"Attacking would be helpful!" Percy called out, rolling away from Stone before swiping at Stone's legs. "Just give us that watch thingy you're holding and this will end."
"This thingy I am holding does not belong to a mortal." Stone grunted in pain. In his hand was a watch of sorts. "I'm doing everyone a favor. We don't need any more mortals believing they are some type of god."
"But I thought this Stark guy was a good guy. A superhero." Will said as I walked toward Stone cautiously with my sword pointed at him.
"Not in everyone's eyes. Now leave young demigods."
"Or what? Feel your wrath?" I commented. Stone glared at me before laughing.
"You all believe you can take me out? Ha! I can easily knock you out, be merciful toward you all." Stone grabbed his metal ball and threw it into the air. The ball buzzed before smaller circles opened up and shot out green goop.
"Don't let it touch you!" Connor yelled out, ducking onto the ground to avoid a blob of goop. I resummoned water, shooting it towards the ball firing out goop. The metal ball sparked before crashing down to the ground with a loud smack.
Stone growled as I perked an eyebrow at him. Taking that as a distraction, Percy used the butt of his sword and hit Stone in the back of the head. Stone stumbled forward, dropping the watch. Nico quickly ran for it, grabbing the form of jewlery.
"Gah!" Stone yelled in fustration. Fumbling into his pocket, he fished out a cylinder looking can and pressed a button. A firecracker shot out and went straight towards Nico. Nico ran toward us with wide eyes. Taking that as his open shot, Stone dropped the can and ran.
"Not today." I muttered before running after him. Behind me, everyone focused on how they could help Nico. Picking up my pace, I ran faster and jumped onto Stone's back.
"Will!" Nico threw the watch to his boyfriend and he dashed away from everyone. He ran towards a wall before blending into the shadows and reapperaring on the other side of the room. The firecracker hit the wall, causing it explode.
Stone thrashed around, trying to get me off of him. I grit my teeth and pulled my body backwards. Stone lost his balance, falling backwards. I quickly let go and landed on my back, rolling away before he could squish me. Stone fell, knocking the wind out of him. I stood up, the tip of my sword milimeters away from his throat.
"Perce!" Leo yelled out before throwing the device he was working on. Percy caught it. "Press the side button and throw it at him."
Nodding, Percy followed Leo's orders. The device attatched itself to the firecracker can and melted the can all together. Stone kicked his leg up, hitting my side and knocking me over. He pushed me aside, making me fall to the ground. Stone quickly stood up, a smirk on his face before he threw a punch at me.
I dodged it, kicking my feet to his face. Stone groaned, stumbling backwards into a wall. Clumsily standing up, I knocked him in the jaw. He glowered at me and kneed me in the stomach, causing me to doubled over in pain. I gasped for air before a hit to the face made me fall to the ground.
"He's getting away!" Travis warned us, following after Stone. Will and Percy made their way to me, helping me up.
"Go after him. Travis is going to need help." I wheezed out, shoving them towards the direction Stone and the Stoll ran.
"Nev-"
"Go Percy." I sternly told him. Leo, Connor, and Nico rushed past us to go help Travis. Percy licked his lips anxiously before nodding.
"You better catch up." Percy told me, already walking backwards.
"I will, just let me catch my breath." I huffed, placing my hands on top of my head. "Go."
Percy and Will ran off to go help. Taking in a few more deep breaths, I chased after them. Running down the halls, I eventually found them in the lobby of the floor. Percy, Nico, Travis, and had their swords pointed at Stone while Will had an arrow notched at him. Connor handcuffed Stone's hands behind his back. Leo pulled out some rope out of his tool belt.
"What?" Leo asked as he saw all of our stares. "Just in case."
"Let me tie him up, then. I tie knots better than you." I walked forward. Leo grinned and handed me the rope. I wrapped the rope on around his shoulders and chest before tying it with a salior's knot.
"I think we should have another set of rope for his legs." Percy noted. Leo nodded his head in agreement and took some more out. He handed it to Percy, who immiediately went to work with it.
"And some duct tape or something for a gag." Nico added.
"I like your thinking." Connor smirked. He turned to face Leo. "Got some paper and a marker in there?"
"Duh." Leo rolled his eyes, fishing out duct tape, a piece of paper, and an orange marker. Connor beamed and handed the duct tape to Nico.
"I'll take that." Travis said, taking the paper and marker away from his brother. He went to the wall, placing the paper against it before writing. "Oh, and Leo, I'll need another sheet of paper."
"Okay..." Leo trailed off, narrowing his eyes at Travis. He fished out another piece of paper.
"Thank you!" Travis chirped, grabbing the paper. before writing on that as well. Nico tore off a piece of tape and handed it to Will to apply it over Stone's mouth. "And done! Tape please."
Nico rolled his eyes and tore off some more tape to hand to Travis. Travis took it and taped one piece of paper to Stone's chest. Walking to the coffee table next to him, he placed the paper there before taping it down as well.
"Will, you have the watch thingy, right?" Travis asked.
"Yeah, I picked it up." Will nodded, fishing the watch out of his pocket.
"Can I see it please?"
Will handed the watch over and Travis sat it on top of the coffee table with the note. Proud of his work, Travis smiled and clapped his hands together.
"'Here's your bad guy. You're welcome. Love PCTN^2WLAS'. Did you really have to put the intial to our first names?" Will perked an eyebrow at Travis.
"Seemed like a good idea."
"If you put that there, then what did you put on the other note?" Percy asked.
"'Saved your watch thingy. Here it is.'" Travis said. "Oh, and I drew a sun with a happy face in it."
"How...lovely." I said. "Can we go now? We don't know where that ghost robot guy is and if he called Stark or something."
"Yeah, we better go. We left a mess behind." Nico agreed.
"You guys better get out now. Stark just flew in and landed on his balcony." Stiles informed us through the comms.
With that being said, Nico managed to shadow travel us into the van. We all stumbled a bit, scaring Stiles and Annabeth. Will held onto Nico, making sure he didn't fall over from exhuastion.
"Holy crap, Nevah." Stiles stood up from his seat and walked towards me. He cupped my face, tilting it to the side. Worry etched on his face as he gently touched the area where Stone had punched me.
"It's just a bruise." I dismissed, wincing a bit. Stiles frowned, placing his finger under my chin to make me look up at him.
"A bruise or not, you still got hurt." Stiles chided, before kissing me and bringing me closer to him. I sighed in content before breaking away and hugging him, placing my head on his chest.
"Well, Stark won't be able to access the lost footages and stuff from what happened." Annabeth told us.
"That's great." Leo smiled, holding his hand for a high five. Annabeth laughed and high fived him.
"What about that ghost robot thing Nevah and I saw?" Percy asked, leaning his body against the back of his girlfriend's seat.
"He disappeared after you two ran and he just showed up with Tony." Annabeth pointed at one of the laptops in front of her that held the current live video of Tony Stark and the ghost robot. "I guess the ghost guy went to go find Stark, whever he was at."
"Well, then I guess this is a misson accomplished."
