011. just go mole-boy
"ANOTHER HALE? ARE WE EVEN sure the Hale fire happened?" Valentina was slightly taken aback by what he had said, looking over to him with a 'seriously' look in her eyes. "Sorry." A twig snapped under his foot as they continued their walk in the wood. Every single movement caught her attention, and that wasn't even because of her supernatural ability, the boy next to her wasn't even trying.
It was as if any survivability traits he may had been given, disappeared the second that he was born. Stiles Stilinski was made up of pure clumsiness. "Why are you even here? How are you going to help us find Cora and Boyd?" Said boy loudly scoffed at her questions, taking a massive offence to them, even though he would never dare to tell her.
"Because I'm amazing and everybody loves to be around me." She wasn't quite sure why he had said the final part about everybody loving to be around until he added, "Obviously, not including you." A loud noise from across the woods caused her head to turn, but she was quickly back to their rather infuriating conversation after she had realised it was a rabbit.
Seeming to think that the topic of his usefulness in what they were talking about was over, he had to force himself from not taking a massive gasp when she grasped his wrist in her tight grip. Her touch caused goosebumps to trail up his arm and his heartbeat to rise, which she would have undeniably heard had her thoughts not been so preoccupied by the anger she suddenly felt towards him.
Their eyes met like fire and ice, but he was far too weak to put hers out. "I'm going to be extremely clear with you, Mole-boy. I don't like you, and I don't see myself liking you so just try to keep your mouth shut until I ask for your input." His eyebrows raised high, she let go of his wrist and continued to walk onwards. It was weird, he felt like he couldn't move for a few seconds, but that was before he had thought of a snarky rebuttal.
"You are amazing at small talk." A few paces in front of him, Valentina turned back with a small smile on her face. Not only was it the first time that he had seen her smile, but it was definitely going to be one that he was going to remember forever. "Did you just smile? Is this a dream? Am I dreaming?" He rushed forwards to catch up with her, only to gain a push.
"Shut up." He was able to hear her smile come through as she spoke, pushing the hair that rested in front of her face to behind her ear. Unable to see the confused look that he had gained, Valentina's smile caused her to look to the ground before back up to see his face and that's when she saw it. Before either of them could say anything, Stiles moved his hand to her face and moved her hair back again so that he could see the scar that resided behind her ear.
The moment the pads of his fingers began to run over her small crescent moon, their eyes caught but her emotion was definitely not what he had expected. Her glare was so ferocious that he almost worried he was going to disintegrate into small ashes but the phone ringing in his back pocket broke off their staring contest.
"It's Lydia." She was confused at how he had seemed to say this as if he was asking for her permission, nonetheless the brunette nodded at him to pick it up. "Uh, okay. I'll go now." Suddenly bombarded with the strawberry blonde's information, he looked around frantically before looking at her. Valentina didn't need supernatural ability to have heard what had happened, she had ever so quickly bawled out that when she was driving to the store, she actually ended up at the public pool where she found a dead boy's body.
"I have to go—" Once again the Hale girl nodded, yet she failed to notice how his hands lightly shook when he placed his phone back into his pocket. He didn't want to leave her. Stiles knew that something about the scar that rested peacefully on her skin had caused the unexpected tension between the two of them, which was definitely not what he had intended when he brought up the subject. He wanted her to talk to him.
"Yeah, okay. I'll regroup with Derek."
Turning swiftly away from him, something stopped her before she had managed to even move a step away. "Are you mad at me?" She slipped her wrist out of his grasp, realising the weird occurrence they had where they continuously were grabbing each other's wrist. "Y'know you can come with me? We can go to Ly—" The suggestion sounded absurd to her, ergo why she briskly shook her head, but really he just didn't want her to leave.
"Just go, Mole-boy."
Stiles mentally shook off his thoughts of concern and broke out into a small smirk as he began to walk off in the other direction. "Don't you ever call me that again." After three seconds of silence, she figured that their conversation was finally done until, "I'm sensitive about my moles!" His statement cause Valentina to crack a smile, redness flushing to her cheeks, only making her begin her short walk to the rest of the group yet she was unable to stop smiling. She was unable to stop the thoughts of a little, mole related boy that diseased her mind.

"You're tracking them by print?" Scott nodded his head in response to what the oldest Argent asked while a scowl began to harden on the youngest Hale's face. "Well, then, you've been wasting your time. There's only one creature on earth that can visually track footprints, and that's man. And if you're not trained like me, you have no idea that this print is Boyd's and these—"
"Are Cora's." Isaac interrupted, assuming that with his immense intelligence that he would obviously be correct, yet he was only to be proven wrong the next second. It remarkable to her that he was the most humorous in the group, then again she could really say much about it because it's not she has the most impressive sense of humour, but she was working on it. Or trying to.
"Nope. They're yours. You trampled Cora's as soon as you walked over here." He chided, only causing Valentina's temper to grow shorter and shorter by the second. "Listen, I know the four of you are focusing half your energy on resisting your own urges under the full moon, but that puts you under a severe disadvantage to Boyd and Cora, who have fully given in. They put the pedal to the floor while you four are barely hitting the speed limit."
"That'll change if you keep on talking in that condescending tone."
Derek moved over to his cousin, placing his hand lightly onto her shoulder as his thumb went in circles, hoping that it might calm the brunette down. He immediately saw how Valentina reacted when she saw the older Argent which, according to Scott, didn't happen when she had learnt about Allison. Her shoulders tensed, eyebrows furred, jaw clenched before she finally finished off the look by crossing her arms over her chest. "Just tell us what we have to do."
Chris glanced over to the youngest Hale, already familiar with the ferocity that he had gained from her relatives, yet he couldn't quite place where he had seen a look like hers before so he decided to move on. "Focus on your sense of smell. Actual wolves are known to track their prey by up to a hundred miles a day by scent." Slowly, he removed different pieces of equipment from his car and placed a few of them onto the ground.
"A trained hunter can use a scent to track them. If the wind is with them, wolves can track a scent by a distance of two miles, which means we can draw them to us or into a trap. Full moon does give us one advantage. They'll have a higher heat signature, which makes them easier to spot with infrared."
Valentina turned her eyes into a dark red colour and looked over to him, "I've got my own." She retorted, slightly fazing out of the conversation as she stared to the view that was Beacon Hills at night. It was stunning. The moon's reflection beautifully bounced off of every surface, almost giving an aura around the town below her.
Not noticing how the boys had joined her, she stared at the dotted lights and took in a deep breath. It was a strange feeling, the one she was getting. At first, it seemed like reminiscence but how could it be? Sure, she had spent plenty of her childhood surrounded by trees, exactly like the ones there yet Valentina had let herself slip. She was an extremely different person to who she was then, almost an entirely new one. With that, even in their predicament, she decided it was some sort of a euphoric feeling.
The brunette wasn't aware she could feel like that anymore. Happy.
"What about the boiler room? It's just one big steel door." Her head flicked up to Scott, who had made the suggestion. From there, the young Hale made the assumption that they were talking about the school. As bold of an assumption as it was, later words the hunter that stood far away from her, only proved her to be correct.
"You're sure the school's empty?"
All of them seemed rather skeptic of their plan, expect from Isaac. Even though he hadn't come up with it, he oozed off confidence with every look from person to person, and he definitely didn't have such a scent before he had been given almost a sense of hope. "It has to be. There can't be anyone there this late, right?"
Chris Argent nodded quickly and returned back to the boot of his open car. He didn't want to let any of them ponder more about the idea that someone might be inside the school, which would most definitely cause them to lose their nerve - something he could never risk. "These are ultrasonic emitters. It's one of the tools we use to corral werewolves, pushing them into a direction we want them to run."
"It gives off a high-pitched frequency that only they can hear." The turns on the emitter and an earsplitting sound affects all rest of them and Derek furred his eyebrows tightly and pressed one hand to his ear. Isaac and Scott pressed both of their hands to each ear, the Lahey boy looking like he was about to collapse, while Valentina winced and pressed her eyes tightly shut.
"No shit." The hunter turned off the emitter as they sighed in relief, the blue-eyed boy checking his hands to surprisingly see there to be no blood. He felt like there should be blood. Handing two emitters to each of them, Chris handing an extra two to Derek who immediately passed them to his cousin. She smirked at the fact that he was unable to directly pass them to her.
To be fair to them all, the plan wasn't half bad. Somehow, it only had Scott thinking about how lucky he had been to come up with an idea that wasn't based entirely off of death, then he return to the terrible reminder that there was going to be a time where there wasn't an hopeful solution. But that time wasn't today, he kept telling himself. "These are gonna drive them to the school, and then it's up to you to get them into the basement."
"Does anyone else want to rethink the plan where we just kill them?"
"It's going to work." His new tone seemed to be entirely based on the way that Isaac had made his statement, a slight bit of anger managed to seep through his eyes which brought a surprised look to the brunette's face. "It'll work." Scott added softly, mainly basing it towards Derek, but afterwards his gaze slowly drifted towards his cousin. Before anymore could be said, they all began to walk away but something harsh had grabbed onto Chris' upper arm, stopping.
He looked to see that Valentina's glare was almost as bad as her grip, and the hardly shocked the older man. "If you even touch a single one of my family members again, I will kill you." Once she had seemed to finish her threat, she released him from her grasp as the Argent finally understood what her entirety of her mood had been caused by.
"That was Kate, not me. I'm not proud of what she did." And that was it. The second he had uttered his words, it cracked through her harsh exterior and hit her like a ton of bricks. She had expected him to apologise, but not for him to have actually meant it. It had brought down her wall and she felt everything that she had been holding back ever since the fire.
"There were innocent people in that fire. People who deserve to be here, certainly much more than I do." Ignoring the tears that stung her eyes at the thought of Josephine, she took a deep breath before returning to her previous, more threatening state. "For your sake, I hope you're better than her. I wouldn't want this to end badly. I like Allison."
Immediately after she had finished speaking, Valentina pushed past the worried Hunter, who himself was slightly confused for his concern over the sixteen year-old. Derek stopped her before she began to run off with her emitters, while Isaac left the moment they came over, offering a small smile to her before he did so. She thought that they were all pitying her, and she found it disgusting, only if she knew that it was simply them caring.
"Josephine would be proud of you. You know that, right?" Hoping that to get on as swiftly as possible with the task at hand, she nods and he runs off, but not before placing a small kiss onto her forehead. She was surprised to say the least, Derek had never really been one for physical signs of affection, neither of them had, it was partly how they were brought up. Maybe if she wasn't so caught up in her own thoughts she would have definitely said something about it but all she could manage to get how was a small mumble to herself.
"No. No, she wouldn't."
