005. fine then tina

VALENTINA RAN EAGERLY OUT OF the school building, already fed up with how her first day back had went and not at all willing to figure out what was happening to the crazy town that she called home. While dialling Derek's number, she waited at the entrance to school, hoping for him to pick her up, sooner or later.

"Hey, Val—" He said cheerfully, though his cousin was clearly in the complete opposite mood — not bothering to pretend to be in the smiley mood that she would usually be with him. She had not been much smiling for a long time, the last time she could remember smiling was before the fire.

It was weird for anyone who knew her now to think of her smiling, but she used to. A person usually smiles often when they has things to smile about, right? She was rather popular, she had an amazing family, friends, well at least that was what she thought. Little did she know how messed up everything was with the Hale family, she was too young to. The werewolf was so innocent, and loved everything until she learnt how sheltered she had been from the truth.

"Look," Valentina began angrily, which shocked Derek at the other side of the line, but not for long. "Can you just pick me up? Birds swarmed into my classroom in period two, and the rest of the day has been utter crap. Get here as quickly as you can." After seconds of no answer, she began to tap her finger against the wall and wonder what he was thinking about.

While on the other side of the line, Derek sat himself down onto Valentina's bed. He wondered why she was asking him to pick her up because during her school hours with her being totally unaware a lot had happen, which seemed to happening frequently. Scott had saved Isaac, whom she hadn't met before, and he asked Derek for a favour about a tattoo before he learnt about a new pack in town. "Scott and Stiles are picking you up, remember?"

Valentina brows furrowed before she remembered what Stiles had said to her in first period, mentally cursing the boy in her mind. "See you back at the loft, Derek." She hung up on her phone. Meanwhile, Stiles drove up to her in his jeep, Scott following behind him in his motorbike. "Touché." The werewolf said to herself. Stiles pushed open his left side jeep door, welcoming her in with a large smirk.

With a big huff, she flicked her hair behind his shoulders before striding towards the jeep and jumping inside. Stiles pulled down on the gear stick and drove forwards, the car making a loud sound as he did so. "You talked to Derek," Valentina said, breaking the silence which Stiles nodded in response to. "Are you willing to tell me what happened today, Stilinski?"

Stiles hummed, aiming to make a joke out of the situation. He should have known that she was not in the mood for funny, especially from him. Valentina grunted, the werewolf side of it as clear as day. "It's, uh, a long conversation. Do you know who Isaac is?"

"Derek mentioned him, he's in his pack, right?" Valentina asked. When she first returned to Beacon Hills, she had not realised how much more supernatural it had become, or maybe she didn't know that it was the way in the first place.

"Yeah, I guess. Isaac got in an accident and was in hospital but the people who got him in the accident were there too. When Scott left English, it was to save Isaac but he failed, so then Derek came and saved them. Scott called me, and as repayment did for what Scott did, your cousin gave him a tattoo. When we were walking out, Scott ruins Derek's door of the old house, and we learn that there's an Alpha pack. You're all caught up."

The Hale girl had to refrain herself from looking out of the car window, too scared to know what would happen if she would miss out even a single detail. She tried to ignore the mentioning of her previous home, and successfully did so. "Did that have to be so detailed?" She joked, her new emotion not fitting well with the new ambience of the jeep. Stiles seemed surprised by her reaction, but kept it to himself before he tried to warn her.

"Valentina, this pack, it's dangerous." He said, besides his previous tones not being so, it was obvious when he was beginning to take something seriously. "It's a pack full of Alphas, and they have come to Beacon Hills." The Stilinski boy ignored the feeling like he was telling her information that she already knew, even as she continuously tried to avoid the subject, and tried to carry on.

"Why?" Valentina asked, her eyes now not moving from the Stilinski boy that sat beside her. He didn't wait a second to answer her question, keen to lighten the mood in the car and make it seem that he did not seen too scared, but she could tell he was mortified.

"That is the question." Stiles said, returning back to the comfort of his humour as he took a right turn, his answer making her roll her eyes as she quickly quickly responded, with not only another question, "Answer me this then, why have you brought me with you?"

"I don't know how strong you are, but you're pretty terrifying," He began, being very obvious on how fearful he was of her, but Valentina could hear the sarcasm that was carefully laced into his words. "And we're gonna need all the help we can get." Stiles finished, glancing over to her, to seeing her looking directly back at him.

"You're so cryptic." Valentina huffed, as she grew more annoyed of having to elucidate herself. "Why are you taking me to your home?" While she was waiting for an answer, Stiles was reversing into a parking spot that stood directly outside of his house. Once he was done, he climbed out of the car and looked straight at the werewolf that still sat in his car.

"To study."

Stiles swivelled around in his desk chair, his physics textbook laying on his left knee. "This means that the first angle of refraction, r1, is smaller than the first angle of incidence, i1, and the second angle of refraction, r2, is equal to the first angle of incidence." Valentina flipped herself on her back, as she looked up to Stiles' ceiling, realising how comfortable she found his bed.

"I wonder why they do lacrosse now," She began, her mind trailing off onto different matters because she had lost interest on what Stiles had been lecturing her about for the past half an hour. "They used to do basketball when Derek was there. That's such a random sport to change to."

All while Scott sat crosslegged on the ground, his back leaning against the wall as he had a breakdown which no one was listening to. "Allison didn't even look at me today." He said, pleading for attention from the people around him, but Stiles continued to be infuriated by the small werewolf that lay upon his bed.

"Val! Were you even listening to me?" He asked, throwing the book towards her which she caught, milliseconds before it would have hit her face, with her supernatural speed. This caused the human to huff angrily, while that reaction made Valentina smirk and throw his book onto the ground.

"Why are you people always assuming that I want to called Val?" She asked, as she turned over to him — the flannel that he gave to her during second period was now wrapped around her waist. Stiles leaned down to get his book, trying to find any way that he could find compromise with the girl.

"Fine then, Tina." He corrected, as Valentina furred her eyebrows and considered leaving the room there and then. Thinking that the subject of her name was done being talked about, the human moved back to look at the physics book before she repeated the nickname, "Tina?"

Scott stood up from him place in the ground and began to pace, the two other people in the room too immersed in their conversation to look at him. "Maybe she hates me. Oh my god, what if she hates me for what I did to her grandpa? No, no, no of course not. Wait, does she?" The werewolf brought himself back to the ground, curling himself in a ball.

"Yes, Tina."

"Can't we do something, anything else?" Valentina wondered. If she was forced to spend the evening with two boys, one really annoying and the other completely caught up in a girl, she's got to be doing something interesting.

"Scott," Stiles looking to said boy, as he stood up from the ground, telling himself that his world didn't revolve round Allison. That he needed to move on. "You still want to go to that birthday party?" He inquired, a smirk returning to the Hale girl's face as she stood up from the bed.

So before they knew it, the three of them were already out of the door and in Stiles' car, ready to party their asses off. At least Valentina was, glad to not be spending the rest of the evening listening to Stiles ramble on. She might even lose him and Scott, yearning for that familiar sense of loneliness that she once felt.
