Chapter 2
"I know, I look stupid. You don't need to tell me." Eunmi rolled her eyes, not letting her brother speak. She knew that what he was about to tell him was pure insult anyways.
She looked at her reflection in the mirror and saw how horrible she looked: messy hair, super lose blouse and long skirt.
"Damn, is this even a uniform?" She sighed, pulling her necktie as if she was disgusted— she really was disgusted.
She cringed, looking at her reflection on the mirror, slowly wondering why the light blue uniform doesn't suit her.
"Go ahead and laugh at me now." She said, sitting down on her bed.
Jaehyun raised a brow, "When did I ever?" He sighed, "I'm here to tell you that breakfast is ready."
"You cooked? Wow, that's a new start..." She said, rolling her eyes.
"I always cook, pabo. And no, Taeyong-hyung was the one who cooked this morning." Jaehyun said, stepping out of the younger's room.
Eunmi sighed and stood up, following his brother's tracks.
"Good morning, Taeyongie-oppa!" She cheered.
The older chuckled, "Good morning, Eunmi-yah."
Eunmi sat on her chair and stared at his two older brothers. "How come the both of you look so smart? While I..."
She looked at herself and pointed at her face, "I look stupid."
The older male laughed and ruffled her hair, "You look totally fine to me, Eunmi. You're probably just not fond seeing yourself in that uniform."
"And mind you, we are smart." Jaehyun added.
She scoffed, "Says the one who gets a constant C minus in Math."
"It's just Math—"
"And let me also remind you your constant D in Chemistry?" Eunmi smirked. " Yeah right, smart." She said, quoting the word "smart" in the air.
"Let's face it, Jaehyun-ah. If there's someone in our group who's a real genius, it has to be Renjun."
"Who, again?" Eunmi asked.
"Huang Renjun. One of our friends who's Chinese." Taeyong explains.
Jaehyun agrees, "If someone in our group is really dedicated in studying, it has to be him. And mind you, his grade in Math is constant A plus."
Eunmi furrowed her brows, "Are you calling me stupid?"
Taeyong laughed, "You know what, let's just go."
"Oh by the way, Taeyong-oppa..." Eunmi called the older male while standing up.
"Hm?" Taeyong looked at her.
"Will your brother walk with us?" She asked, a part of her wants Taeyong to say yes. So that she would know how nice his brother is.
Taeyong shook his head, "He leaves the house earlier than me sometimes. He still has lots of things to finish. He also told me that he has sone errands to run." He explains.
Eunmi's eyes widened, "Is that so? I bet he's a nice person even after what happened yesterday." She rolled her eyes.
Taeyong laughed, "Trust me, he's really nice once you get to know him."
"Once we get there, we'll introduce you to our friends." Jaehyun said.
Eunmi nodded.
****
Eunmi just sat on her chair, her eyes wandering inside their classroom.
There were groups huddled in the room, probably circles of friends.
She sighed and looked at her notebook.
She was about to write but then a pair of hands covered her notebook to prevent her from doing so.
It was a girl, smiling at her.
"He...llo?" She asked, looking at her weirdly. "How can I help you?"
The girl smiled widely, "Hi, I'm Yeri!"
Eunmi smiled, "Jung Eunmi."
Yeri sat beside her, "It seems like you don't know anyone yet, that's why I approached you. I'll be seated beside you the whole year, if that's what you're thinking."
Eunmi's eyes traveled to the empty seats beside her.
"Oh~ Thank you, with you talking to me I don't feel alone anymore." Eunmi chuckled.
"Wait, are you really alone? You still don't know anyone here aside from me?" Yeri asked.
Eunmi shook her head, "No. Actually, my older brother studies here too. Jung Jaehyun. And oh, I also know his bestfriend Taeyong-oppa." She smiled.
"Oh, so you're Woojae-oppa's sister! Glad to finally meet you!" Yeri giggled.
Eunmi raised a brow, "Wait, you know my—"
"Brother? Of course, I do! We basically have the same group of friends." Yeri said.
Eunmi nodded, "Oh, alright..."
"I'll introduce you to the girls later." Yeri smiled.
Wait... what girls?
"Thank you, that's honestly so nice of you..." Eunmi said.
"Anything for a friend." Yeri said.
***
"Let's just wait for a while, okay? Unnies are way ahead of us, and we have different schedules. But luckily, for us, we only have one subject left." Yeri said, looking at the person beside her, who was busy munching her food.
Eunmi nodded, her mouth full to even speak.
"Yeri-yah!" Yeri turned her head towards the direction in which the person who called her was in.
"Sooyoung-unnie!" She cheered, finally having the chance to introduce one of her friends to Eunmi.
"Yah, you didn't tell me that someone was coming with you!" The taller lady said, throwing a fake angry face towards Yeri. "Hello, I'm Sooyoung, you can just call me Joy." The girl extended her hand in front of Eunmi and the latter gladly shook it.
"Hello!" Eunmi cheered, "Jung Eunmi imnida!" She smiled.
"Jung?" Joy raised a brow.
"Unnie, she's Jaehyun-oppa's sister. The one he has been talking about." Yeri said excitedly.
"Oh! Yeah, I remember! He always talk about you. He told me how great of a person you are." Joy smiled. "Glad to finally meet you."
"You know what, you should really stay away from that person. The next time I see that girl near you, I won't hesitate to punch her in the face!" Two other ladies occupied the two other chairs in front of Yeri and Eunmi.
"Can you calm down for a while? Oh— hi!" The taller girl waved her hand lightly.
Eunmi chuckled and did a light bow.
"What happened?" Yeri asked while laughing.
One of the two ladies who just arrived sighed, "You know that girl who always pisses the hell out of me? Apparently, Seulgi here told me that she, the girl, walked past her and bumped her shoulder like what the heck is her problem?!" She said, gulping a glass of water in a shot.
Once she calmed down, she introduced herself. "Hello! Sorry about the outburst earlier, my name is Wendy." She smiled. "Wendy Son."
"Hello unnie! Jung Eunmi imnida!" She smiled.
"You're calling me unnie, so I'm guessing that you're the same age as Yeri?" Wendy asked.
Eunmi looked at Yeri questioningly.
"What year were you born?" The two asked at the same time.
"1999." The two coincidentally answered at the same time again.
Wendy nodded. "Ah, so you're really born on the same year." She looked at Eunmi, "Wait, your last name is Jung? You must be Woojae's sister."
Eunmi nodded, "Yep, I'm unfortunately his sister." She sighed.
Wendy laughed.
The girl beside her smiled, "Hello, I'm Seulgi. The same age as Wendy." She said.
"We're missing someone..." Joy said.
Seulgi sighed, "As always from her."
Just then, a girl came rushing towards their direction as if she was running late for a meeting.
"And there she is." Yeri said, laughing at their eldest member.
Eunmi chuckled upon seeing their eldest unnie. She was sprinting her way towards their table.
Once she arrived at their table, she sat beside Wendy and tried her best to catch her breath.
"I'm sorry... professor Park was such a bitch earlier..." She panted. Her eyes landed on Eunmi who was giggling silently. "Oh hello, I'm Joohyun. Just call me Irene, and I'm in the third year in college, currently taking medicine." She said.
"Jung Eunmi." She smiled and shook Irene's hand.
Irene's eyes narrowed and looked at Eunmi intently, "Your smile reminds me of someone..."
"Woojae-oppa?" Yeri asked.
Irene shook her head, "No, not Jaehyun... I know you're his sister but no... your smile really reminds me of someone..." She said, thinking really hard.
Eunmi started to wonder who Irene was referring to.
"Ah! You're like... the girl version of Taeyong's younger brother!" Irene exclaimed. "Your smile reminds me of Mark for no reason..."
"Mark? You mean that no good guy who shouted at us yesterday?" Eunmi raised a brow, suddenly covering her mouth afterwards.
Irene grinned mischievously, "What? You met him already? Dang it, but I wanna play Cupid's role!" She said.
"What in the world are you talking about?" Eunmi shook her head, "Just ignore what I said, unnie. I tend to say things aloud even if they are just supposed to be thoughts." She sighed.
"But what did you say? Mark shouted at you?" Joy asked, not believing at what she's hearing.
Eunmi nodded, "Yep. Apparently, we just moved in next their house yesterday. He opened his window and shouted us, telling us to be quiet." She said.
"Is that so? Maybe he was working on a song..." Seulgi said, munching on the nachos that Yeri bought.
"I think? That's what Taeyong-oppa also said." Eunmi shrugged. "By the way, why are we seated in a really long table? It's just us six..." She said, noticing the table in which they're at.
"About to be 24." Seulgi laughed.
Irene chuckled, "Oh right... you haven't met them..."
Eunmi raised a brow, "Met who exactly?"
"Woojae-oppa's squad!" Yeri exclaimed.
"Squad? What squad?" Eunmi scoffed.
Just then, a group of boys entered the cafeteria with a loud noise. Some of them were clinging with each other, some of them were singing songs aloud, some of them were acting cool (Eunmi coughs, her brother), one of them was wearing headphones, and one of them, aka Taeyong, was pretending that the others don't exist.
Eunmi's mouth went agape. She was totally not expecting this... this.. mess!
The girls laughed at the youngest's reaction. She was totally overwhelmed.
"Why... are they so many... and loud?!" Eunmi asked.
Yeri laughed, "We expected this reaction."
Wendy nodded, "They're always like that."
"Always?!" Eunmi said, shocked.
She started to mentally count how many giys were there. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.... why is it not stopping?!
Jaehyun looked at their direction and saw his sister's expression. She looked so... frustrated? And... creeped out!?
"Eunmi-yah!" Jaehyun called his sister and his friends' attentions were on him.
"Your sister is already here, hyung?" The guy whose eyes weren't that visible, asked Jaehyun.
"Yep, she's at our usual spot with the rest." Jaehyun answered, and the rest of them, except for Mark and Taeyong, immediately rushed towards their table.
"Aren't you going with them?" Taeyong asked his brother.
Mark shrugged, "Should I?"
Jaehyun sighed, "You should go there already and be with them. Taeyong-hyung and I will just order food for everyone. Arasseo?" He asked.
Mark complied. He put his hands in his pockets and went towards their table.
Eunmi can't help but to look at the person who was wearing headphones while walking towards their table.
Yeri nudged her, "Are you okay?"
The latter nodded.
"Everyone..." Irene stood up. "This is Jaehyun's sister. I think you already know her name?" She asked.
The guys nodded.
"She'll be staying with our group from now on, okay?" She said, and the others replied a soft "Yes, noona."
"I guess this will be the time in whic you guys will introduce yourselves?" Irene asked, the rest coughed. "They're wearing their school name tags, Eunmi-yah. If by chance you forget their names, you can just look at their name tags." Irene chuckled.
Eunmi nodded, "It's fine, unnie. I cam memorize names quickly."
Irene nodded, "Oh, Taeyong and Jaehyun are here."
"If you guys are going to introduce yourselves, exclude Jaehyun and I." Taeyong said.
The rest nodded.
"So that makes it sixteen."
Wait what, sixteen?!
Eunmi mentally pats herself for not saying it aloud.
"Can Taeyong be the one who'll introduce them? I think that's quicker.." Seulgi said.
Wendy nodded, "I agree. I think most of us still have subjects to attend to. Except to these ten." She said. And Eunmi concludes that she and Yeri has to be in those ten. But she wonders who the other eight are.
Taeyong stood up, "Let's begin? So Eunmi-yah, I assume that you already know the girls?"
"Ne!" She replied.
"All in all, Irene-noona is the eldest. Followed by Seulgi-noona and Wendy-noona." Taeyong said.
"Then, it's Taeil-hyung." Taeyong pointed at the guy who was seated at the end of the table. He did a soft wave to Eunmi and the latter smiled. "Then, Johnny. He used to be a transferee like you. He's from Chicago." Taeyong said.
"Following the age, after Johnny, it's me. Annyeonghaseyo, Lee Taeyong imnida." He did a ninety degree bow which made the others laugh. "Then, Yuta."
Yuta? I assume he's from Japan.
"Then Kun, Doyoung, Ten and Joy. The '96 liners. Your brother, Jaehyun and Winwin are the '97 liners. Then Jungwoo, the only '98 liner. Lucas, Yeri and Mark." Taeyong said, pointing at his brother who was still wearing his headphones.
Eunmi looked at him and somehow, she feels like there's something about Taeyong's brother.
"Then, it's you." Taeyong said, pointing at Eunmi.
Eunmi nodded, trying to remember every name that Taeyong said.
"After you are our '00 liners: Renjun, Jeno, Haechan and Jaemin." Taeyong said.
They all smiled and did a light bow.
So he's Renjun. The smartest among them according to Taeyong and Jaehyun-oppa early this morning.
"Finally, our maknaes. Chenle and Jisung. Chenle was born in late 2001 and Jisung was born early 2002. Basically, they're just the same age." Taeyong said.
Eunmi nodded and looked at them one by one. Despite the huge number of members, she feels home.
The group started to eat, but something was bugging the new member. She feels that there's something with Mark.
Why is he so quiet? Why is he so... mysterious?
"Trust me, he's really nice one you get to know him." Taeyong's words suddenly reverberated in her head.
Yeri nudged her and whispered in her ear, "He might melt with that stare."
"Who, exactly?"
"You're staring at Mark."
