Keith hummed as we walked toward the border. Or at least I thought we were heading there. We passed a familiar-looking tree and rock that it felt as if we had walked around in a circle.

"Uh, are we lost?" I asked.

He glanced around. "Come to think of it; this spot does look familiar."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "You don't know the way? Then why did you volunteer to escort me?"

"Hey, I was just trying to help!" he said, turning away.

I took a deep breath and continued on my way.

"Wait, where are you going?"

"I can find my way back home without you. If I run into any of your tribesmen, I'll hide."

"O-okay," he mumbled, turning away.

"Say, you don't know how to get back your home, do you?"

He laughed. "What do you mean? Of course, I do. It's to the north of here!

I hugged my basket and laughed. "How can you tell when you aren't sure about where 'here' is."

His cheeks reddened. "I'll prove it!" He rushed off into the woods.

I sighed. Should I go after him? No, I need to get these to Dad! I had wasted too much time.
